The Last Sontaran- Part 2

After a while I looked back and saw Chrissie wobbling on her high heels and Alan trying to help her. I sighed and stopped, waiting for them to catch up. "Alan, Alan! This is impossible!" Chrissie cried.

Alan groaned, turned around and said, "Just leave them there."

Chrissie stared at him as if he was asking to leave her baby and run away. "Are you mad? These are designer shoes. You want some squirrel moving into the most des res in the forest."

"Just take them off and keep going!" I yelled back to them, turning and ran without waiting for them.

We got to the Observatory and I took out my sonic pen and opened the door. "What's that?" Chrissie asked.

"Sonic pen." I told her. "Opens things."

"Very handy." She said.

"No." I told her, knowing what she was asking.

"Darn."

I motioned for her to be quiet and heard talking up ahead. Then I heard Sarah Jane's voice. "This isn't conquest. It's annihilation. The Earth will be useless to your Empire."

"I will have wiped the Sontaran defeat from history. My name will live for all eternities to come. My people will scream it as a battle-cry."

"Now I have to admit, that is kind of cool." We heard Clyde say.

"You're killing innocent people!" Maria said.

"Maria!" Chrissie gasped.

I turned my head and looked at her. "Shh."

"Stop the program. This isn't battle, it's murder." Sarah Jane said.

"Your planet defied Sontar. That can never be. We will have victory over all. Nothing will stop us." The Sontaran said.

Suddenly Chrissie ran around me and yelled, "Try my size fives, Humpty." And sticks one of her metal stiletto heels into his probic vent. The energy release knocks the Sontaran out and throws Chrissie backwards.

Alan and I run to Chrissie.

"Mum! Mum!" Maria yells. Sarah Jane retrieves her lipstick and zaps Skinner and Lucy.

"Consider yourselves de-activated." Sarah Jane Smith says. Luke disconnects Lucy's phone just as the download reaches 98%.

"Mum?" Maria asks as she kneels beside me, holding her mother's hand.

"She's all right." Alan said.

"What I would like to know is how Chrissie knew where to hit a Sontaran. I suppose it can wait." Sarah wondered.

"She's coming round." Alan warned us.

"Quickly, the knock-out gas. Give it to me." Maria said to Luke.

Luke looked at Maria, "What for?

"If we can get Mum home before she comes round, maybe we can convince her that none of this ever happened. She banged her head. Had a bad dream. Anything."

"Your mum will have saved the world. She won't have a clue." Sarah said.

"Believe me, it's better this way. We'd never hear the end of it." Alan said.

"Maria." Chrissie murmured.

"Go back to sleep, Mum." Maria said. And gives her a puff of the knock-out gas. Lucy wakes up.

I stepped away to the corner to call Jack to tell him I was all right. "Susan, what happened?" Jack asked right away.

I laughed. "You know the usual. Saving Earth, that kind of stuff."

"You do know that I expect an report on it by tomorrow, right?"

I groaned. "Come on."

"How about I take you to dinner tonight and the report won't be due till Thursday."

I smiled. "Deal. I'll be late though. Have to change out of my uniform. Is it at one of those expensive restaurants where you have to wear a dress? I have a new one that I haven't tried out yet." I said as I walked out of the room.

The one thing that I did not notice was Sarah and Maria shooting glances at each other and smiling behind me.
