"Missy I'm not in the mood for your shenanigans right now." Gabe remarked tiredly as he turned away from her and faced the square again. He heard Missy chuckle behind him as she kicked off from her perch and the clatter of her heels on the stonework as she walked closer to him.
"Oh is this because your little girlfriend has a cutting problem?" asked Missy smarmily from behind.
Gabe turned and frowned at her; his eyes sparked a deep golden shade beginning to glow. Missy held up her hands in defense, "Hey, sorry man, I thought you already had gotten that memo; didn't know it wasn't public knowledge among the band of misfits."
"What do you want Missy?" Asked Gabe, refusing to take his eyes off of her now.
She stuck her hands in her pockets and shrugged as she leaned against another saint across from him. "Let's just say I think our interests are going to align very quickly in the next little while."
Gabe snorted as a small smile lit his face and he looked away from her. Missy frowned at this and arched one of her eyebrows, "You can't tell me that you don't know anything that they have planned up there. Gabriel, it's going to be complete anarchy up there and down here in a matter of years if we're even lucky with that."
"What makes you think I give a shit?" Asked Gabe, swinging his gaze back to her.
"Because you like them." she replied. No bull shit clouded her voice and she wasn't even making a jab at him from what he could tell.
"Like who?"
Missy huffed in annoyance as she rolled her eyes, "Them!" She exclaimed as she swept her hand outwards at the few stragglers in the courtyard taking last minute pictures.
"Gabriel I know you love humanity just like God said to do. Watch them, protect them, and above all else, love them. You can't tell me that you're willing to see them all burn and pop like a bunch of popcorn in a movie theatre popcorn maker are you?"
"Pft, whatever." Gabe said as he waved his hand at her. He turned his back to walk away but it seemed Missy had one more trick up her sleeve.
"You're even willing to watch your brothers slaughter Amy in the big prize fight at the end?"
Gabe's scowl deepened as if chiseled there from the beginning of time. He turned swiftly back around and walked right up to her, face getting within an inch of her.
"Don't even think about going there." Gabe whispered to her harshly as he pointed a threatening finger at her face. Missy couldn't help the slight shiver that cascaded all over her body. She knew the archangels were powerful beings, the most in the entire cosmos, and while Gabriel was usually laughing and joking around, she knew he could crush her if he wanted to.
"You know it'll happen if it all comes to pass." She whispered to him none the less.
"I can protect her," Gabe replied adamantly, "No harm will befall her."
Missy snorted slightly, "And the others? Jazz? Lance? Can you protect all of them? Gabriel, you and I know that Michael and Lucifer will rip you away from anyone if they see you trying to side with someone different then one of them. The way I see it, you have to make a conscious decision, and soon, because your hour glass was flipped over a long time ago. And I hate to tell you this, but times almost run out."
Gabe lowered his finger and took a step back. He put his hands in his jean pockets and gazed at her intently. "Why are you saying all of this? Why would you want to try and stop this?"
Missy shook her head, "Please, you can't pick your family Gabriel. Likewise to the fact neither your parents. However, I, unlike your brothers, love this world." Gabe snorted at this, to which Missy glared. "I know it's hard to believe, but I do. I can't stand to just stand by and watch it burn based on petty jealousies and an insane idea even by God's standards. "
"Don't go there with him." Gabe muttered quietly.
Missy looked at him in amazement, "Are you kidding me?! You're going to defend him after you abdicated your post from heaven all those years ago? What a joke Gabriel you-"
She didn't have the chance to finish her sentence as Gabe's hand shot out and tightened on her throat; she felt her precious air begin to be squeezed from her body. Wheezing and thrashing she tried to drag in a breath into her deprived lungs, but to no avail.
"Why did you try to take the horn?" asked Gabe. His eyes had turned a dark golden again as he glared at her, "What was the purpose of it?"
"It's a weapon that can be used in the fight." Missy wheezed.
Gabe cocked his head at her, "But you have to have known that even you would have a challenge wielding it. So what was your endgame?"
"I believe there is someone who can possibly wield it besides you." She managed to choke out.
Gabe released her and she slumped to the cool stone work below. She knelt on hands and knees as one of her hands grabbed at her throat delicately and began to massage the abused muscles and tissue. She wheezed and panted in grateful breaths of fresh air. A slight shimmer encompassed her neck and she felt good as new. Standing up she looked at Gabe who gazed at her impassively.
"Who?" was the only thing he uttered.
"Isn't it obvious? Amy."
Gabe frowned at this information, "That's impossible."
Missy shook her head, "I guarantee you it's not." It was quiet for a few moments. "Look Gabe I can help her just take me to her. We have more in common than anyone thinks."
Gabe gazed at her suspiciously, "I don't know; you guys aren't high on each other's nice list."
Missy snorted, "There's really no one I like but let's ignore that. Look if you think I'm damaging her or whatever then you can smite me on the spot no questions asked alright? But I need you to give me the benefit of the doubt here."
Gabe stared at her for another few minutes without making a move. Just when Missy was going to give up and stomp off he grabbed her hand and the two of them disappeared with a rustle of wings.
A/N: Remember the title of the last story guys, it all plays a part ;) I know this was very short and I'm sorry about it but I needed to cut it there. The next chapter is longer, and me and my betas will work on it as soon as I get back :) love ya all! ...well...I think it's longer X)
