I do not own Gen Rex.
"Did you hear that Rex?" Holiday asked when she heard the roar. She struggled to extract herself from the blankets around her.
"Yeah, what about it? " Rex was mopey.
"Rex, we need to get out there and help." Holiday said.
"You heard Six. We can't leave." Rex groused.
"Rex, since when have ever listened to orders?" Holiday asked exasperated.
Rex raised his head as if it had just occurred to him. "Hey yeah. I never listen."
"That's right. So we have to get out there and help." Holiday still wasn't able to pull the blanket off. How tight did Six tuck her in anyway?
Rex jumped onto his feet and bounded up the stairs.
"Wait, Rex. Help me get up." Holiday's head snapped up in surprise as Rex ran off without helping her.
"Sorry, doc. Gotta go help Six!" He said pulling his goggles down at the top of the stairs.
Holiday's head fell back on the bench frustrated at all the males in her life. "Can't live with them, can't sell them for parts." She muttered to herself. Well… maybe with Rex she could.

The men on deck fired at the water serpent but the bullets passed through without any affect. Six ran towards the water creature and double slashed the base of the attacking creature. Six ran and jumped to attack the creature. His blades pass through the water but did not seem to bother the monster. Aimi's katana had the same effectiveness. They were not making a lick of difference.
The monster, however, knocked over the cannons and was smashing the ship to pieces. . At this rate the ship would be nothing more than toothpicks. The serpent reeled its head back and came in for another attack. Just before it dove in to sink the ship, it was pushed back by Rex with his block party and boogie pack.
"Take that, you, you… evil water thingy." Rex snapped.
Aimi blinked, "Really, that's what you're going with. We need to work on your come backs."
Six subtly shook his head and focused on the situation at hand. "Rex, see if you can lead it away from the ship."
Rex currently had the serpent in a head lock with his smack hands. The serpent was swinging him wildly from side to side trying to throw him off.
"Rex!" Six called again.
"Yeah, I heard you! What do you think I'm trying to do? Cuddle it?" Rex yelled back.
"Ohh, that one was better." Aimi nodded.
"Uhh, thanks?" Rex replied before being thrown into the water. The water creature roared and dove after Rex.

Holiday finally squirmed her way out of the cocoon. She ran to the command room. No one was there. Holiday figured everyone was upstairs dealing with whatever crisis was happening now. She was sure Six wouldn't have time to contact Caesar.
"Providence, do you copy?" Holiday tried to reach base. Static answered her. She sincerely hoped that ZAG-RS had not erected another communications barrier.
Just when she was about to give up hope a voice came through the speaker.
"Providence here. Identify yourself."
"This is Doctor Holiday." She quickly gave him her communication code and asked to speak with Caesar.
"Caesar, here." Holiday was never so happy to hear the young scientist's voice. "Caesar, ZAG-RS is causing the strange energy signals here in the Caspian Sea." Holiday informed him. She proceeded to fill him in on whatever detail she could.
"Hmm, fascinating. It seems ZAG-RS has found a way to duplicate herself on multiple levels. Intriguing. " Caesar seemed to be talking to himself.
"Caesar!" Holiday snapped. "Focus. What should we do? Rex is out there fighting it."
There was silence on the other end.
"Caesar!" Holiday almost yelled in frustration.
"Hmm, what? Oh yes. Well, I wouldn't worry about Rex from what you told me ZAG-RS no longer has the capabilities of wiping out nanites. It seems instead to be bent on destroying the hosts of the nanites."
"Why would it do that?" Holiday was aghast.
"Well, if the host dies then so do the nanites within." Caesar said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"How do we stop her?" Holiday was about ready to reach out and strangle him.
"That's easy." Caesar said.
Holiday hoped that was true.

Rex tried to reach the surface. He saw the water creature come straight at him. He shifted slightly and narrowly avoided him. He quickly continued to the surface. He needed air. Rex did not want a repeat of the time he drowned when the lomitle had him trapped underwater. Only because of his omega-1 nanite did he survive. He broke through the surface gasping for air. Just as he started to swim for the ship something snagged his ankle and he was dragged under. As he twisted his body to face his attacker, he formed his bad axes. He sliced through the tendril wrapped around his leg. The creature roared, which he felt more than heard, and attacked him. Rex brought out his smack hands just as the monster bared its fangs and sank its teeth into the metal.
Rex resisted the urge to yell out in pain because yes that hurt! He didn't care what Holiday had said about losing his builds being relatively painless. It wasn't a terrible unbearable pain but it stung nonetheless. Rex swung the creature around and then released his build.
The creature flew through the water. Rex quickly swam back to the surface. This time when he broke through he tried to form his sky slyder. He needed to get out of the water so that the water creature did not have the home town advantage. He knew that water would get into the turbines of the boogie pack making them useless but maybe the sky slyder would work. He formed the sky slyder but didn't realize how difficult it was to ride it when in water. His sky slyder took off. Unfortunately, he was upside down with his body under water and his feet above the surface. As he slid through the water he saw the creature had regrouped and was coming head on. He formed his smack to protect his face. The creature and Rex collided.
From Six's vantage point it looked like Rex was messing around in the water. He debated whether he should dive in to help him but realized his weapons were useless. Six would just be a hindrance to Rex. Perhaps because Rex was an EVO his builds could actually hurt the creature while their conventional weapons were ineffective. He felt Aimi put a hand on his shoulder.
"You think he's all right?" She asked.
"Rex is tough. He's been through tougher binds." Six answered stoically.
"You worry about him, don't you?" Aimi gave him a sideways glance.
Six remained silent.
"You know it's okay to have feelings." Aimi said exasperated.
"Not in my line of work." Six answered.
"Oh for goodness sake, fine be that way! Don't come crying to me when you're 80 years old and all alone living with cats because you drove everyone away." Aimi fumed.
"I don't like cats, I prefer fish. Easier to flush down the toilet." Six said flatly.
Aimi looked at him startled before she realized he was being facetious.
"OMG, was that a joke?" Aimi said laughing in spite of herself.
"Maybe, maybe not." Six answered.
Before Aimi could reply a giant water spout erupted from the water. Six and Aimi's attention was brought back to the fight. Rex came flying out of the column of water and headed straight for the deck. Six and Aimi both stepped aside as Rex landed in between them, face on the floor and backside in the air.
"Are you okay?" Aimi asked concerned.
"Oww, " was Rex's only reply.
Six pulled him up. "What happened?"
"I think I pulverized the water thingy." Rex muttered rubbing his head.
"Uh, no you didn't. Look!" Aimi was looking wide-eyed over the waters.
Rex and Six both looked out.
"Aww, nuts." Rex groaned.
Out in the water were now two water serpents. They both roared and swam full speed toward the ship. Rex made his boogie pack and smack hands and flew off. He gave the first one an upper cut and then swung around to smack the other. Both serpents stopped swimming toward the ship and instead focused on attacking Rex.
Rex then made his punk busters and was now hitting, kicking, and dodging the monsters.
It was clear that he was starting to tire out. Then one of the serpents chomped down on his smack hands. The other got his punk buster. They began pulling.
"Hey, this isn't tug-of-war!" Rex exclaimed.
Six gritted his teeth. At this rate Rex wouldn't survive much longer.
Then out of the sky a beam shot down. The serpent that was holding Rex's punk buster disintegrated. Rex using the opportunity used his newly freed foot to kick the other serpent. The serpent let go in surprise.
"Finish it, Rex!" Aimi and Six said at the same time. They looked at each other in surprise. Aimi's face broke into a broad grin while Six just smirked.
"Oh great, I now get orders in stereo." Rex grumbled as he smashed the monster back with his smack hands. The serpent's head snapped back and it fell backwards into the water. Another beam shot down from the sky and destroyed the last monster.
Rex hovered in the air. "What just happened?" He asked confused.
Holiday ran on deck. "Rex! Get out of the way. Caesar commandeered a satellite and is beaming down a program to deactivate ZAG-RS."
Holiday didn't have to tell him twice. Rex landed on board.
Six looked at Holiday. "Thanks." He said simply.
"Next time don't tie me to the bench when I can help." She glared at him.
Aimi fought the urge to laugh as she watched her brother squirm uncomfortably.
A red beam came from the sky and started methodically scanning the area around them. Every so often a small explosion was heard as ZAG-RS's programs were deactivated.
When the area was done, Holiday took some readings.
"Energy signals are gone. Looks like everything's back to normal." Holiday said.
"Good work, doctor." Aimi beamed.
"Actually, it was Caesar's doing. He realized that ZAG-RS must have downloaded its different functions to several areas. Caesar guessed its plan was to destabilize this area, then slowly start destroying the nanites' hosts." Holiday explained.
"Well, I guess a mad scientist should be able to stop his own creation." Aimi mumbled.
"Frankenstein." Six fake coughed the name.
Aimi laughed. Rex looked confused. "What are we talking about?"
"Nothing, Rex. Just an inside joke." Aimi smiled.
Holiday looked from brother to sister. They both looked relax and at ease.
Holiday smiled.

Six stood on the ramp of The Keep. He watched as Rex and Holiday carried their equipment inside the aircraft. He turned and looked at Aimi.
"Now what?" He asked her.
Aimi didn't ask what he meant. She understood.
"Well, we can pretend none of this ever happened." She started. "Or we can make plans for Christmas."
Six almost grimaced. Aimi laughed.
"I'm just kidding. I'm not telling our family about you. They'd try to force you to take over. You and I will be our secret."
Six nodded, relieved that he won't have to meet the rest of the family.
"But if you ever need me…" Aimi continued softly but didn't finish.
Six gave a rare smile, "And if you ever need me…"
The siblings looked at each other. Six gave one last nod and turned to walk up the ramp.
"Aww, what the heck." Aimi ran up jumped on Six's back. She gave him a big hug.
"Aimi!" Six snapped annoyed.
Calan looked in surprise as he watched Six and a girl tussle playfully. "I'm guessing I missed something." He turned to Holiday.
"Nothing of importance." Holiday stated in a tone that said it was all she was going to say. She wasn't going to tell anyone about Six's sister. That was up to Six. She had made sure Rex knew that too.
Calan sighed and looked back to the ramp. Six had gone up and the girl was waving. She looked familiar. He racked his brain to see where he had seen her before. But finally gave up when the call came to take off.

Holiday was putting away her equipment when Six walked in. She looked up.
"Hey." She said softly.
Six nodded feeling a lump rise in his throat. He swallowed hard and then cleared his throat. He pushed his shades further up his nose.
Holiday was worried. Six didn't seem quite like himself.
"What's wrong?" She asked.
"Nothing. I… umm… I was just wondering… I mean you don't have to…but…. " Six stopped and cleared his throat again.
"Are you asking me out?" Holiday closed the distance between them. She looked up at him.
With her so close Six was having a hard time forming words. What was wrong with him? They've talked millions of times before. Why was this so difficult? Unable to speak, Six merely nodded hoping he didn't look as stupid as he felt.
"I'd love to go out with you." Holiday put her arms around his neck and smiled into his face.
Six relaxed and wrapped his arms around her waist. "Dinner and movie?" He asked with a smirk.
"It's a start." Holiday laughed. Six bent down and kissed her.
They leaned into each other and enjoyed each others' warmth.
Well, this is the end of this story. I hope you like it, especially you WeepingAngels9. I got to go do real work now.
God Bless.
