Chapter 14.5
"Was there any noteworthy occurrence on the Lazarus Station?"
Jacob looked up from his console and studied Miranda. "Besides the mechs being hacked and ordered to kill us?"
Her eyes barely flicked away from her work and toward him, but they still managed to look exasperated. "I meant with Shepard. He didn't exhibit any irrational or erratic tendencies?"
"He did nearly choke me to death and shot Wilson."
Miranda definitely found that noteworthy. "What caused that reaction?"
"I told him who we were." "Ah." She should have guessed. "That was to be expected. He blames Cerberus for a great deal."
"Don't really blame him."
"And why is that?"
"I've read his files and his reports. That Cerberus cell wiped out nearly the entire team on Akuze, most of them came from Shepard's platoon."
"Rogue Cerberus cell," Miranda corrected.
"Hate to burst your bubble, Miranda, but I don't think that will matter too much to the commander."
"Shepard is a rational man. He'll see Cerberus is the only organization keeping humanity from falling."
Gunshots erupted from the communication room where the man in question was supposedly speaking to the Illusive Man.
"Yeah, I wouldn't put money on that one."
Author's Note:
So it's been over a month since I posted anything. I've had the worst writers block over the next full chapter. To try and break through it, I have been writing this interludes, little snippets of mostly dialogue between crew members. While it hasn't really helped start the next chapter, it has left me with 15 of these things and even more ideas. I figured I would post them while I continue to work through the block. Sorry about the long wait, and thank you for putting up with it.
