Epilogue

Here I was swimming down into the depths of the ocean for a group of human I had never met before. I was only doing this for my daughters. They had helped us to rescue them, so I had to be grateful. But now they were stuck here, which meant that more ships would arrive looking for them. And that would lead to more people discovering our secret world. I didn't want anyone else to know about us. Last time those humans came, we lost a princess. My niece, Ariel, was taken away by a human, and I didn't want any of my baby girls to be taken from me! I wouldn't let them lay a finger on them. But I owed them. They helped to keep my daughters safe, and I felt like I was obliged to make them feel welcome. I was the queen; it was my duty to be hospitable. I was usually very welcoming to any mer-folk that stumbled across our kingdom. But these people were not mermaids nor were they mermen. They were humans. This was our domain... No; this was my domain, which I had to protect with my life! But they saved my daughters. And so I had to put on a smile, and thank the intruders. What was I to do? They were human; they couldn't live in our underwater castle. Where were we to put them? And that was when the idea came to me. The issue was not my location, it was their state. Humans cannot live underwater, but mer-folk can. I knew just the person to turn to. She may not be trustworthy, but it was the only option I could think of. I entered into the dismal cave and saw her sat on her icy throne.

"Ah, Queen Garcia-Shapiro. What brings you here?" Her bitter voice echoed through the cave.

I sighed as I uttered my response. "I require one of your potions. Once that could possibly change a human into a mermaid."

I heard her laugh flood through.

"Oh, so her royal highness requires me? Little old Morgana? Oh dear, Vivian. Where did you go wrong? One of your little brats change themselves into a human, like their cousin?"

"No. Quite the opposite. And, as much as it pains me to say this, I... I need your... help." I spat out the last part. It made me feel sick in the fins to say that. I couldn't believe that I had to sink this low.

Her evil cackle echoed through her dismal, icy cave. "My help? Well, as your humble servant, I can see what I can do..."

"Here. A drop of this each should accommodate you." I smiled to the Captain, and handed him the vile.

"Thanks. We should have the ship fixed in no time, right Ferb." He nodded to his green-haired friend near the wrecked boat. He nodded back to us, and the Captain passed the vile around to each of the crew members.

I just hoped that it worked. I hoped that the evil sea witch hadn't tricked me. I'm sure it could be reversible. It was the only way that would allow them to live under the sea. The only way I could think of, given the circumstances.

"Mom, what was in that potion?" Vanessa looked at me, with concern in her eyes. The crew had all buckled over in pain, clutching onto their stomachs.

"Trust me, dear. I know what I'm doing?" I didn't intend for the last part to sound like a question. But the crew had collapsed onto the rock. Some fell under the water and others lay lifelessly on pieces of driftwood. My mind drifted back to the question my daughter just asked me, 'what was in that potion?'

What had I done?

To be continued...
(P.s. Morgana is not my character. Do you know where she is from?)
