Chapter 27: Coming Home
6 Months Pregnant
"Bella?"
I felt a hand be placed on my shoulder and I slowly opened my eyes and lifted my head.
"Bella? Are you feeling okay?" Carlisle asked.
I looked around still half asleep and found myself on the bathroom floor with my head resting on the edge of the bathtub and in front of the toilet.
"I got sick a couple times last night, and I guess I just fell asleep." I said.
"Here, let me help you up." He said.
He grabbed both of my hands and pulled me up from the floor, it wasn't til then I realized that my back hurt like hell.
"Ow." I said grabbing it.
He led me out of the bathroom.
"I don't like this pregnancy thing anymore." I groaned.
He just laughed at me.
"So, I got a call from Edward." Carlisle said.
"Yeah?" I said.
"He's being released from therapy and is going home today." He smiled.
"That's awesome! I'm so happy for him." I said.
"Yeah, it seems that she has got the DID under control again and hopefully for good this time." He told me.
"That's good, does he have to take any medication?" I asked.
"I'm not sure, he didn't say." He said.
"Oh." I said.
"There's something else." He said.
He reached over to the side table and grabbed some kind of envelope that I didn't notice until now.
"Here." He said handing it to me.
"For me?" I asked.
He nodded, I bet it was another surprise from Edward like this hotel we have been staying in for almost a month was. I quickly opened the envelope and gasped, sitting inside the envelope was two plane tickets to Forks Washington for tonight.
"We're going home?!" I gasped tears coming to my eyes.
"Yes." He said smiling.
"I thought we would have to stay longer! I thought he may need time adjusting to home!" I said unable to hold my tears any longer.
"He wanted you home right away, so I called the airport and they were able to get us two seats home right away." He told me.
"Oh my god!" I cried.
He moved closer to me and hugged me, I hugged him back and cried silently on his shoulder.
"I hate this pregnancy thing." I sobbed.
He laughed harder.
"It's fine Bella, I haven't seen one pregnant women not cry all the time. It's normal." He said.
"Good." I said laughing.
…
"Let me get that!" Carlisle said.
He took my suit case from me.
There was a knock on the door, and since Carlisle had his hands full, I answered it.
"Hi mom, hi Phil." I said.
They walked in.
"All ready to go?" Phil asked.
"Yes." I said smiling.
"I'm going to miss you Bella." Renee said.
"I'll miss you too." I said hugging her.
"You tell me when that grand baby of mine is making its appearance. Phil and I will make a trip down there to see you and the baby." She told me placing a hand on my now really noticeable stomach.
"Of course." I said smiling.
"Okay, let's go before these two start crying." Phil said.
Renee and I both laughed.
We checked out of the hotel and got into Phil's car to head to the airport. My phone died and I never got the chance to charge it so I was unable to call or text Edward. Carlisle talked to him though to give him some kind of idea when we may be home. I wondered if Edward and the rest of the family would be there to meet us, but then I told my self of course they would be.
"So, does Edward know how big you've gotten?" Renee asked.
"No, I haven't sent him a picture in a while, it's almost like I grew over night!" I said.
"I was like that with you, one morning I woke up and I swear I doubled in size, your father claimed I was being paranoid or something." She said.
"Were you and dad happy?" I asked out of no where.
I obviously shocked Renee because she stumbled on her words a few times.
"Of course we were happy, in the beginning. After you were born is when it put us to the real test, he was fishing a lot and when he wasn't fishing, he was working late leaving me to take care of you alone. We got into a big argument one night about him not being around to help. He claimed he was doing it for us so we had a good life, but I knew that fishing wasn't helping anything. It seemed like he was running away. So I left, I thought at the time I did the right thing for you and for me. I'm sorry if your life was tough because of it." She explained.
"I understand, as long as you both are happy now is all that matters." I said rubbing my stomach.
"I am." Renee said smiling at Phil who smiled back in the review mirror.
Just Landed in Forks, Washington
"Bella." Carlisle said shaking me a little.
I groaned pushing him away.
"We're here." He said.
I groaned again stretching, once again my back was killing me. I got up and tried to get my suitcase but Carlisle stopped me. I followed him off the plane, I had at least six people 'ohh' and 'ahh' at my stomach. It was quite annoying, especially when they asked to touch my stomach.
"Are they here yet?" I asked walking along side Carlisle.
"Edward texted me about an hour ago saying they were here." He told me.
"An hour ago? He must have been anxious." I laughed.
Edward's POV
"Just calm down, I'm sure she is getting off the plane now." Emmett said.
"Dad told me they would be here ten minutes ago." I said.
"Dude, chill!" Emmett said.
"LOOK!" Alice shrieked pointing vigorously ahead.
I stood on my tip toes and looked across the crowd, I held my breath when I saw her.
"Look how big she's gotten!" Alice said.
She got closer and finally spotted me, a huge smile came across her face as she rushed over to me.
"Hi." She said.
"Hi." I said.
I pulled her into my arms and kissed her. Someone finally cleared their throat to get us to stop after a few minutes of kissing. We pulled apart and Bella's face turned red, I missed her blush even though she hated it.
I stroked her cheek and she closed her eyes.
"Look at you." I said standing back and looking at her bump.
She spun around so I could get a better view, I laughed.
"Beautiful." I said.
Bella's POV
I smiled tearing up a bit.
"Hey, hey. Don't cry." He said.
"I'm sorry." I laughed a little.
"Oh Bella," He said pulling me in a hug, "I've missed you so much."
"I've missed you too." I told him.
"So, do we know what we're having?" He asked.
"No, I wanted to wait for you." I said.
We started to head to the car to go home, and I could not have been more happy about going home.
"So, what's going on with your pre-eclampsia?" He asked.
"Uh, we've been watching my blood pressure, I've only had one other scare but not bad enough to go to the hospital. Carlisle was able to treat me at the hotel and get the contractions and pain to stop." I told him.
"But nothing serious?" He asked.
"Not so far." I said.
"That's good." He said.
Once inside the car I tried to get comfortable but it wasn't looking like I was going to be comfortable until the baby was out of me.
"You okay?" Edward asked.
"My back has been hurting me a lot lately." I told him.
"I'll give you a back rub when we get back to the house." He said smiling.
I smiled back.
"So, did you have a good time in Florida Bella?" Alice asked.
"Minus all the trouble with my mother yes." I said.
"Any shopping?!" She asked.
"No Alice, I did not go shopping." I said laughing.
"Very well, more for us to do here!" She said.
I groaned.
"Come on Bella, you knew that was coming." Jasper said.
"You know, maybe if you cut her off of all credit cards and cash she may stop shopping." I told him.
"Sorry Bells, I've already tried that." He told me.
"Of course it didn't work, it's Alice." Emmett added.
We all laughed.
"Hey!" Alice said.
I started to feel weird, it was like I was in a movie. You know those times where everyone is laughing and having fun, but there's that one person who is realizing something is wrong? And all while going in slow motion? Yeah, it was like that. I tried to hide my face scrunching as I got a sharp pain in my stomach, I ignored the pain in my back because I was having back pain all day.
"Bella?" Carlisle asked noticing me.
"I'm fine." I said faking a smile.
Edward shot his head towards me.
"Bella? Are you okay?!" Edward asked.
"Yeah, I'm sure it's nothing." I said.
"Bella you need to tell me what you're feeling." Carlisle said using his dad voice.
"I just had a sharp pain in my stomach, and my back still hurts." I said.
"Pull the car over Phil." Carlisle said.
"No! No. I'm fine! Please dad." I begged.
"Nope." He said.
The car pulled over and Carlisle got out of the car and walked to my side of the back. He opened the car door and leaned in, he started to place his hands on my stomach pushing down a bit.
"Any dizziness?" He asked.
"No." I said.
"Nausea?" He asked.
I shook my head.
He stopped pressing on my stomach and felt my forehead.
"Headache?" He asked.
"No." I said.
"It doesn't seem like you are having contractions. All this commotion must be upsetting the baby, so once we get home I want you to take it easy." He told me.
"Yes doctor." I smiled.
He smiled back kissing my cheek.
We were on the road again after making a big fuss over nothing. Not to mention that Edward was watching me like a hawk ever since.
"I'm fine Edward." I said.
"I'm just worried." He said.
"Just wait until you see one of my real scares if I have one." I said.
"You won't." He said.
He placed his hand on my stomach, I smiled and looked at him.
"We're having a baby." He whispered.
"Well I hope it's a baby in there!" I laughed.
He laughed.
…
"It feels so good to be home." I said.
Edward walked over handing me a glass of tea. I had my feet propped up on the coffee table, I was watching The Devil Wears Prada while lounging on the couch. Edward sat down next to me putting his arm around me.
"Ouch!" I gasped.
"WHAT?!" Edward asked sitting up quickly.
"Nothing! It just kicked me really hard." I said rubbing my stomach.
"Oh. Okay.." He said relaxing and sitting
"Relax, I'm fine!" I told him patting his leg.
"I'm sorry, I'm just worried about you. This pregnancy hasn't been easy for you." He said.
I smiled and kissed him.
"I love you for worrying, but I'm fine." I told him.
"Okay." He said.
The doorbell rang.
"I got it." I said getting up.
Edward grabbed my arm and tried to pull me back down.
"Stop it!" I laughed.
I walked over to the door and answered it, my smile faded.
"Andrea, hi." I said.
"Oh! Bella! You're home!" She said, it was like she didn't expect me to be here.
"Yes, it's good to be back." I said.
"I was just here to see Edward for a minute, is that okay?" She asked.
I looked at Edward who was already up off the couch and headed out the door.
"Sure..." I said.
I closed the door, Alice walked in.
"What's going on?" She asked.
I was peeking out the window.
"Andrea is here to talk to Edward." I said.
Alice came over next to me and also looked out the window. My eyes popped out of my head as I saw Andrea put her hand on Edward's chest and give that flirtatious laugh.
"Who does she think she is?!" Alice gaped.
I growled storming to the front door.
"Edward. It's time to come in now." I snapped.
Edward looked confused, Andrea just looked at me like she did nothing wrong.
"Edward." I warned.
"Uh, I'll see you later." He said.
"I'll stop by tomorrow around 1, if that's a good time for you." She smiled.
"No, that is not a 'good time' for him. So thank you for helping Edward, but your services are no longer needed." I snapped.
"Bella!" Edward scolded.
"I see, well. Then I guess I will leave then." She said.
"I guess so." I said.
I watched her walk down the steps and to her car before returning in the house.
"What the hell was that?!" Edward snapped shutting the door.
"That was your wife kindly reminding her that you are a married man!" I told him.
"You didn't have to be so harsh about it Bella." He said.
"Oh come on Edward! She had her hands all over you!" I snapped.
"She touched my chest Bella! It was harmless!" He said.
"She laughed Edward! She was totally flirting with you!" I yelled.
"Bella come on, you're being emotional." He said.
Alice took a step back.
"I'm being emotional?!" I snapped.
"Bella, she didn't mean anything by it." Edward said.
"I don't want her in this house anymore Edward." I told him ignoring his 'emotional' comment.
"Bella-"
"No!" I said pointing my finger at him and storming up the stairs.
Edward's POV
I watched Bella practically run up the stairs and listened as she slammed the door shut.
"What the hell was that?!" I gaped looking at Alice.
"She is feeling really insecure right now Edward, and telling her that she is being emotional about this all is not the best way to handle it." She said.
"I don't like Andrea in the way she thinks I do though! I love Bella!" I said.
"She doesn't mean that you don't love her, she just feels threatened by Andrea." She told me.
"Why though?" I asked sitting down.
"Because, right now Bella sees Andrea as a beautiful skinny girl and may think that you would actually leave her for Andrea." She explained.
"That's crazy!" I said.
"I'm just saying, if I were in Bella's shoes I would think the same thing almost." She said.
I sighed.
"This pregnancy thing is harder than I thought." I said rubbing my eyes.
"Imagine how she feels, all these feelings and hormones flying through her like there is no tomorrow." She said.
"I should go check on her." I said.
She nodded.
I walked up to our bedroom and heard sobs coming from it. I sighed, I really screwed up.
"Bella?" I asked walking in.
She looked up at me with her puppy dog eyes that had tears coming from them.
"I'm sorry!" She sobbed.
"Bella, you have nothing to be sorry about!" I told her rushing over and sitting on the bed.
"I'm sorry for being so emotional!" She cried.
"It's okay! Really, it's fine!" I told her.
She fell into my chest and just cried.
"Shh, try and calm down okay? If Andrea being around you upsets you then I will find another therapist." I told her.
"A male one?" She gasped trying to get a hold of her breathing.
"Yes, I will find the ugliest male therapist on the face of the earth." I said.
She laughed.
"With a beer gut and a creepy mustache that has his lunch stuck in it." I told her.
"Gross!" She half laughed and sobbed.
"I will do anything for you Bella, and if that means sitting in front of an ugly therapist that looks like a creepy stalker with a beer belly and a mustache, then I will gladly do that." I told her.
"I love you." She whispered.
"I love you too." I said kissing the top of her head.
Lots of stuff happened in this chapter! Bella is home, and the hint of flirtation from the therapist? What is that about? Took a while for the chapter, I know, but again life has been busy so bare with me! Reviews are nice =]
