Chapter 32: False Alarms

"Bella?" Edward asked.

I was busy puking my guts out in the bathroom.

"Bella!" Edward gasped.

I gasped as I gagged before throwing up again.

He knelt down and held my hair back.

I gasped for air as I stayed over the toilet in case I wasn't done.

"You haven't thrown up in a while." Edward said wiping the sweat off my forehead.

I was afraid to talk, so I just nodded.

I sat back against the wall and rested my head on Edward's shoulder.

"Are you feeling better?" He asked.

"Yeah." I said.

"Did you eat something?" He asked.

"No, I just felt sick." I told him.

"Maybe the baby just wanted to make you throw up one more time before he or she came to the world." He laughed.

"Well listen child, no more puking for mommy!" I scolded my stomach.

Edward reached over and placed his hand on my beach ball of a stomach and rubbed it.

"I love you." Edward said looking into my eyes.

I looked into his deep green eyes and almost died.

"Bella?" He asked.

"Yeah?" I whispered.

"You okay?" He asked.

"I'm not sure." I said.

"Do I still dazzle you that bad?" He asked grinning, which didn't help anything.

"Everyday from now and forever." I whispered before placing a kiss on his perfect lips.

"Mmm." He said kissing back.

So there we sat, making out like teenagers on the bathroom floor. Until the baby got jealous and kicked at Edward's hand that was still placed on my stomach. We broke apart and both grinned like idiots, we looked in each others eyes and kissed each other before we decided to get off the bathroom floor.

"Ow." I said stretching.

"Your back?" He asked.

"Always." I said.

"Bella stop scratching!" Carlisle said.

"I can't!" I said.

I had my shirt over my stomach and was scratching it like crazy.

"Okay, but when you have several more stretch marks don't say I didn't warn you." He said smirking.

"Hmph." I said stopping scratching.

Edward walked over with a tube of something.

"Here." He said sitting down on the floor while I was on the couch next to Carlisle.

He squirted some on his hands and started to rub it all over my stomach.

"It's a lotion that helps prevent stretch marks and helps with the itching." He said.

"Where did you get it?" I asked.

"Picked it up at the store." He said.

"How did you know that my stomach itches?" I asked.

"I know a lot of stuff you don't think I see." He smirked.

"Oh you do now?" I asked.

"Yep, I'm your husband, it's my job to know everything about you." He said.

I smiled.

Eight Months Pregnant

I watched Carlisle as he moved the stick over my stomach, making sure to keep the sex out of view of both of us.

"Everything looks good, I see no bleeding, the baby is moving regularly." He said.

"What about her blood pressure?" Edward asked holding my hand.

"It's still high, but better than it has been." He told us.

I nodded as I watched the baby suck its thumb, my eyes filled up with tears.

"Hey, hey now." Edward said wiping an escaping tear.

I sniffled letting more go, I just couldn't believe in a month I would be a mom.

"Don't cry, everything is fine." Edward reassured me.

"No, I'm not crying because that." I said wiping my eyes.

"You're crying because you are happy." Carlisle said.

I nodded.

Carlisle pulled up a stool and sat next to me and across from Edward.

"The first time we heard Emmett's heart beat, man I never cried so hard in my life." He said.

I laughed as I tried to stop crying.

"I knew from that moment on that I created a life, well helped create a life, and that was overwhelming, and scary, and exciting. It's a lot of emotions to process." He said.

"It is." I said.

"Then the day we decided we wanted one more, we decided Esme would get pregnant one more time. Life had other plans for us though." He said.

"What happened?" I asked.

"We decided to adopt when we met this wonderful little boy who had a rough past." He said looking at Edward.

I smiled as fresh tears came to my eyes as I looked up at Edward.

"We loved you from the day you came into our lives Edward, and I hope you know that adopted or not you are our son and we will love you until the day we die and then some." Carlisle told Edward.

"I know dad, and I thank you for that. If it hadn't been for you, who knows where I would have ended up or if I would have even survived. If it hadn't been for you and mom I wouldn't of met Bella, and we wouldn't have a baby on the way." He said.

"Well, I wouldn't of had it any other way Edward." Carlisle said smiling.

Edward nodded and smiled down at me.

I closed my eyes and thanked who ever was listening for the amazing family that I came into.

I sat in bed reading my book as the TV played in the background, I was glad to finally have a normal doctors appointment without any bad news. Carlisle said I was in the safe zone and if I were to go into labor that he believes that the baby and I would be fine. He also talked about the wonderful things called braxton hicks contractions which were contractions that prepared you for the real ones. I was not excited about those, he told me that not all of them are painful but he has heard of other patients that have had painful ones.

Somehow I managed to be alone today, everyone had their own plans and Edward had to work. It was kind of scary being in the house alone but nice at the same time. I had to beg and pry Edward to let this happen. He knew it was dangerous but finally agreed for only half a day that I could be alone as long as I relaxed and wasn't on my feet. I had stayed off my feet the whole day, the only time I was up was when I had to go to the bathroom, or I did a few stuff in the nursery.

A Couple Hours Later

"Don't go in the basement." I said.

I watched as the girl on the TV flip the basement light on.

"Nooo." I said.

She started to walk down slowly breathing heavily.

I shook my head, "Stupid girl."

She finally got to the bottom and a man in a black hoddie came at her. I jumped as he threw her to the ground and watched the stupid girl try to get back up the stairs.

"You never go into the basement!" I scolded.

I was about to keep watching when a pain shot through my stomach, I gasped and closed my eyes. I breathed through it placing a hand on my stomach.

"Ow, ow." I gasped.

I waited for the pain to subside before closing my eyes and praying it was just a practice contraction.

"Not yet little one, please stay in there for just a little bit longer." I said patting my stomach.

I continued to watch my movie, but another pain came twenty minutes longer. I gripped the sheets as I let out a tiny scream, my first instinct was to call someone. I grabbed my phone and tried to dial a number, but the screen wasn't coming on.

"Come on!" I hissed through the pain.

The battery was dead, and we didn't have a house phone. So I waited to see if I would have another, and I did. This time it was less than twenty minutes. I got up and slipped shoes on before heading downstairs, I almost fell down the stairs when a pain shot through my.

"AHH!" I screamed gripping onto the railing.

I managed to get downstairs through the pain and headed to my car. Driving was going to be hard, and dangerous, but I had no choice.

At the Hospital

I clutched the steering wheel in pain.

"Please please. Just please stop!" I cried.

Once the contraction ended I got out of the car and waddled over to the emergency room. I walked up to the front desk and Jerry looked up and smiled.

"Bella! I haven't seen you in a while! Look how big you got!" He said coming around the desk and over to me.

"Hi Jerry." I said a little out of breath.

"What brings you to the hospital? Visiting Edward?" He asked.

"Something like that." I said.

"Everything okay?" He asked.

I was about to answer before I screamed out in pain, this pain was so intense that my knees buckled and I fell forward.

"Bella!" Jerry yelled catching my and slowly bringing me to the ground.

I cried, "Why is this happening?!"

"I need help! Someone page Dr. Cullen!" Jerry yelled.

"Which one? Edward or Carlisle?" A nurse asked.

"I don't care! Both! I just need help!" He said.

She rushed to a phone.

"You're going to be fine, everything is going to be fine." Jerry said rubbing my back.

I sobbed into his shoulder.

"How far apart are the contractions?" He asked.

"It varies, somewhere between twenty and fifteen minutes apart." I gasped.

I heard running foot steps and looked up to see Edward and Carlisle both running down the hall.

"Bella!" Edward yelled.

He slid on the floor to me.

"What happened?!" Carlisle asked.

"I was watching TV and I started to feel those braxton hicks contractions, or so I thought they were but I think they are actual contractions. I haven't been on my feet or doing anything stressful!" I said.

"Okay, lets get her up." Carlisle said.

Edward and Jerry pulled me to my feet.

"Edward I'm scared." I cried.

"It's going to be fine." He said.

They quickly got me into a room and into a gown before connecting me to a baby monitor. Everyone was rushing around like I was dying, I tried to watch everyone and catch what they were saying but I didn't know medical terms. Edward came over to me and held my hand, I looked up at him.

"They are going to give you a medication that helps stop contractions." He explained to me.

"Will it work?" I asked.

"I hope so." He said kissing my forehead.

"Has your water broken yet Bella?" Carlisle asked putting gloves on.

"No." I said.

"Lift your legs." He said.

"Oh man, I know what's coming." I groaned.

"If it makes you feel better, I don't think anyone enjoys having someones hand being shoved inside them." He joked.

I rested my head on the pillow and closed my eyes waiting for the uncomfortableness. I gasped as Carlisle examined me, I squeezed my eyes shut as Edward kissed my forehead. It lasted a few minutes until he finally took his hand out, I took a deep breath and relaxed.

"Everything looks fine, I don't think your baby is going to be born today." He said.

"If it was, it would be fine right? The lungs are more developed then they were?" I asked.

"Yes, the lungs seem to be developing better now that we gave you steroids to help." He said.

Edward's pager went off, he growled and looked at it.

He sighed, "I have to take this."

"Go." I said.

"I'll come check on you." He said before kissing my on the lips.

The nurse came back in and gave me the drug that helped the contractions stop. After that I was told to relax, the nurser shut the lights off so I could get some sleep. It was only four in the afternoon so I wasn't sure why she shut the lights off for. It feels like I was only asleep for five minute before I heard the doors open, I opened my eyes and saw Charlie and Jake walk in.

"Hey guys." I said.

"Hey Bells, how you feeling?" Charlie asked.

"Better, the contractions stopped." I said.

"Did they say what caused them?" Jake asked.

"No, I guess the baby wanted to cause mommy and daddy to panic." I laughed.

"How long are you going to be in the hospital for?" Charlie asked.

"Just tonight if the contractions stay gone." I said.

"Good, Julia sends her love." Jake said.

"Aw, tell her I said hello." I said.

Two Weeks Later

"Auntie Bell! Auntie Bell!" Mason yelled running into the living room.

"Mase! You're back from your trip!" I said.

Mason got to go on a extended vacation to Rosalie's parents house so they were able to spend some time with their grandchild. Rosalie and Emmett missed him like crazy, but they enjoyed their time together as a married couple while they could.

"Yeah! It was so much fun! I got to go to the Zoo and pick out a toy! We saw elephants, and zebras, and tigers, and bears! Even lions!" He beamed.

"Oh my! Sounds like it was fun!" I said.

"When will the baby be here?" He asked looking at my stomach.

"In a couple weeks! If not sooner!" I told him smiling.

"Oh." He said.

"Would you like to feel him kick?" I asked.

"He kicks?!" He asked.

"Yeah, here put your hand here." I said putting his hand where the baby was currently kicking.

"Woah." He gasped in amazement.

"You used to kick your mommy too." I told him.

"I did?" He asked.

"Yes you did, and it was right in the bladder most of the time!" Rose said coming in from the kitchen.

I giggled.

"I couldn't tell you how many times I spent in the bathroom because he insisted that my bladder was the most comfortable spot ever." She said sitting on the couch next to me.

"I can't wait to have this kid out of me." I said looking at my stomach.

"Oh yes you can, trust me. Once they are out of your body they are a handful." She said.

"This one has been a handful already." I said.

"Promise me something." Rose said, getting serious.

"What?" I asked.

"Promise me that you won't let this pregnancy scare you out of having more." She said.

I hesitated at first, "I promise."

She smiled and nodded, "I know it has been difficult, but being pregnant is the most amazing feeling in the world. I just don't want this pregnancy to ruin that feeling."

"It won't, I know it will be difficult getting over that fear once we do have another but I promise to push through it and not let this stop me from wanting more kids." I said.

"Good." She said.

The kitchen door opened and Edward walked out with a bowl of ice cream.

"Dessert for the hottest wife in the universe." He dazzled.

I blushed as I took the bowl.

"Thank you." I said.

I looked in the bowl an was disappointed, my eyes filled up with tears.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"No whip cream? No cherries?" I asked.

"I didn't know you wanted those on there!" He said.

"I do!" I cried.

"Okay! Okay!" He said taking the bowl back.

"I just wanted cherries and whip cream!" I cried.

"I'll get you some! Love, please don't cry! I'm going now!" He said.

He rushed out of the room, I looked at Rose and we both busted out laughing.

"This, this is the fun part of being pregnant!" I said.

"Oh man, Emmett almost lost his mind with me! He was constantly walking on egg shells because the littlest things set me off, I could go from crying, to happy, to yelling in .5 seconds! It was funny to watch him." Rose said.

Edward came back into the room and handed me the bowl of ice cream.

"Better?" He asked.

I looked.

"Yes, better. Thank you baby." I said.

"Anytime." He said smiling.

We were getting ready for bed, and like every night we stood in the bathroom side by side brushing our teeth. It was like synchronized swimming at this point, we spit and rinsed our mouths out at the same time. After brushing teeth, it was the part of the routine where we got dressed in our pajamas. After that it was time to rub in my lotion on my stomach that prevented stretch marks.

Then we took the pillows off the bed, so yeah synchronized swimming was our bedtime routine. It was the same every night, only this night it was different. We finished taking off the pillows, Edward climbed into bed while I walked to turn the lights off. I got half way there when it happened, I stopped as I felt a gush of water trickle down my legs.

"Love?" Edward asked wondering why I stopped.

"Edward." I said.

"What?" He asked.

"My water just broke." I gasped.

I turned around slowly, he looked at my soaked pajama pants and his face dropped.

My world started to spin.

The baby was coming.

Uh oh! Bella is in labor! Will it be and easy delivery unlike her pregnancy? Or a difficult one? I got this chapter out fast! I suddenly just felt like writing and that is all I have been doing since the last chapter came out!

*I need thoughts on the gender of the baby and name ideas!

Let me know what you think!
