If you celebrate Easter Monday - Have A Great Day!
If you are heading to work this morning (like me) - Drive Careful - There are a lot of idiots on the road!
Penelope's appointment with Dr. Sullivan went smoothly, and he cheerfully confirmed that she was indeed pregnant. After much discussion, the two women decided she should wait until Christmas Eve to tell her Chocolate Thunder the news. Afterwards, Penelope swore she couldn't understand why the entire Quantico area hadn't heard Morgan whooping with joy. As it was, within minutes everyone's cell phone lit up with the text message he had sent to every one of his contacts.
Reid and the twins, along with Blake and her husband, were at Rossi's house for the holiday when the text message came through.
"What the f^& #?" Rossi began when the cell phones began buzzing. He quickly cast a guilty look at the twins, who were busily playing in front of the sunroom fireplace.
"It's Morgan," Blake was looking at her screen.
"I think he's trying to tell us - - - ," Reid was squinting at his phone.
"Let me save your eyesight," Christine volunteered. "He's probably telling everyone that Penelope's pregnant!"
"And, how do you know?" Rossi asked her with a smile.
"Well – She kind of was with me at my last doctor's appointment," Christine confessed. "She wanted to make sure before she told Derek and figured that if she went with me it wouldn't look suspicious."
"Well, I'm happy for them!" Blake settled back into James' arms as they sat on one of the sunroom sofas.
"That almost makes up for the team being on call over the Christmas holiday," Rossi observed.
"Where is the rest of your team this evening?" James inquired.
"Well, Aaron and Jack are with Aaron's family tonight," Christine told him. "Then, tomorrow they are going over to Haley's parents' home. Aaron has already called me twice."
"With much difficulty, I might add," she continued. "It seems that somehow all the contacts on his cell phone were erased." She looked suspiciously at Reid as he sat on the floor playing with the twins.
"Garcia and Morgan are, obviously, over at Garcia's apartment," Reid spoke up nonchalantly. "Although, Morgan has been working overtime on the house he is currently restoring and I think he is planning a surprise for Penelope tomorrow morning."
"JJ took Henry and her mom to visit family in Pennsylvania," Rossi concluded the list. "It's not that far, and she can get back quickly if necessary."
"Well, let's hope it's not necessary," Blake commented with a smile.
"Ouch!" Christine winced as she changed her position on the sofa she was sharing with Rossi. "Sorry - I'm being battered from the inside!"
"How much longer do you have?" James asked.
"About two months," was Christine's reply. "And, from what I can remember, it is only going to get worse!"
"Well, the average baby moves and/or kicks approximately 30 times an hour," Reid began. "And, seeing as how you have two babies in there, I am guessing you're experiencing approximately 60 movements an hour." He gave her bulging stomach a stunned look.
"Thank you, Spencer," Christine told him sarcastically. "That's just what I need to hear!"
"It's not as bad as all that," James spoke up. "Some of that movement you won't feel at all."
"Where is the movement?" Rossi asked.
"Right here," Christine put his hand on the side of her bump. "Although, he, she, or it may have rotated since the last assault."
"Nope – It's still there!" both chorused and laughed.
"You can feel the babies?" David had quietly walked over.
"Can we feel the babies?" Diana joined her brother.
"Of course," Rossi took his hand away and moved the two little hands over the spot. "Now, you'll have to be patient. It may take a while."
As the twins stood with curious looks on their faces and their hands on Christine's stomach, Blake impulsively took a picture with her camera phone. No one could have guessed at the time, but 18 months later that picture was on the cover of a new best seller, "Twins – A Guidebook By Those Who Have Been There", authored by Spencer Reid, PhD, and Eleanor DuValle, Twins Expert Extraordinaire.
"Oh!" David pulled his hand away.
"There is something in there!" Diana shivered, but kept her hand in place.
"There certainly is!" Rossi cheerfully agreed. "Now, who would like some hot cocoa and cookies while I read 'Twas The Night Before Christmas?"
The rest of Christmas Eve went quickly. After Rossi finished reading the classic tale aloud, the excited twins were tucked into bed for the night. Christine had moved out of her suite for the occasion and was using the room across the hall that had been designated as the 'Babies' Nurse's Room'. Twin cots had been set up in her study for David and Diana, while Reid was sleeping in Christine's bedroom. All was quiet until -
