Part 6
"What do you mean we're taking in a boarder?" Akane asked her father Soun. "We barely have room as it is with these…'people'."
"You know, I'm beginning to think you don't like me," Ranma said, between bites.
"You think?" Akane replied. "What gave you that idea…?"
"Ha."
"Be as it may, Kasumi insisted that we take on a boarder in order to allow her more opportunities to explore what she wants to do, which I am proud of her for considering," Soun said. "In fact, Genma and I were thinking of building a cottage that could be used for guests."
"We are?" Genma said in surprise. He wasn't expecting to hear that he would be doing anything other than enjoying some time off, after spending time on the road for the past ten years…
"Of course!" Soun said enthusiastically. "I had been thinking of building such a place for Akane and Ranma to live in, after they wed, of course."
"Ha!" Akane said, as she scoffed at the idea that she and the pervert would ever get married.
"Mr. Tendo, as long as I am…cursed, I don't think it'll work out," Ranma said. "Not that I'd marry HER anyway."
"What makes you think I'd let you?" Akane replied.
"What makes you think I wanna?"
{Heh, love a good lover's quarrel}, Bayonetta said in Ranma's mind.
"Shut up, Cereza!" Ranma yelled aloud. "I don't need YOU instigating nothing!"
"And Akane's fiancé talks to himself," Nabiki said, as she got up from her seat. "Wonderful."
"That pervert isn't my fiancé, Nabiki!" Akane said.
Pause.
"Wait, who or what is 'Cereza'?" Akane said angrily.
"Never mind!" Ranma said, as he gets up. "I gotta get out of here…"
"Boy, get back here!" Genma said.
"Stuff it, old man!"
"Oh, dear," Kasumi said, as she enters the dining room. "Is Ranma okay?"
"Don't care," Akane replied. "He can GO, for all I care…"
Meanwhile, outside, Ranma looked up at the night sky, where the moon was in full bloom…
{Penny for your thoughts}? Bayonetta asked.
"You're in my mind, so why don't you figure it out?" Ranma replied.
{Well, excuse me}, Bayonetta replied indignantly. {If you're going to be such a brat, then I don't need to speak to you for a while…}
"Cereza, wait!" Ranma yelled. "I didn't mean to-"
"So, you know Cereza, eh?" said a voice from above.
Ranma looked about the backyard, and scanned for the owner of the voice…
"I'm up here, dear," said the voice again. "On the roof?"
Ranma stepped off the back porch, and turned towards the roof of the Tendo House…
"Who are you?" Ranma asked.
On the roof was a woman with the body of a supermodel, the grace of an athlete…and the dangerous demeanor of an assassin. She wore stylish clothing, but had an orange/yellow bandanna wrapped around her head to hold her white-colored hair in place. She also had a bamboo umbrella in hand, which she had placed on her right shoulder.
"Handsome, aren't you?" the woman said with a smirk.
"Who the heck are you?" Ranma demanded.
"Your foe," the woman said, as she suddenly took a leap into the air. "Prepare yourself-!"
Ranma was amazed how fast the woman was, as she made impact with the ground, feet first.
BOOM!
Ranma barely moved out of the way, only to see that the woman was about to "tag" the martial artist with a strike of her umbrella.
"Whoa!" Ranma yelled, as he quickly dodged the attack. He threw a punch at his attacker, only for him to no longer see his opponent in the open.
"Where did she go?" Ranma said, as he careened his neck about. He could still feel his attacker's presence, however…
"You decided to run away?" Ranma replied accusingly.
"No, I've decided to turn in for the evening," said the mysterious woman, as she spoke from the shadows. "But not to worry, my pet…we WILL play again real soon…"
Ranma growled. If there was one thing he hate losing a fight, he hated not finishing one even more…
Just then, Genma and the Tendo clan come running out into the yard.
"Oh, my," Kasumi said, as she looked around the crater in the yard.
"What the hell happened?" Genma asked.
"Some strange woman attacked me, that's what," Ranma replied.
"Yeah, sure," Akane said.
"No, I mean it!"
"Doesn't matter," Nabiki said. "Somebody has to pay for this damage, and I don't see anyone else here."
"I wouldn't worry about it," Soun said, as he laughs off the damage. "It's nothing more than a hole. And if there was indeed a fight out here-"
"And there was!" Ranma interjects.
"It can be fixed."
"And you are going fix this mess of yours, boy," Genma said.
"Why do I even bother," Ranma said. "And you were absolutely no help, Cereza."
"Who are you talking to?" Akane asked. "Your imaginary friend?"
"No, it's the girl me. I mean, it's the witch that the girl me is based on, or something. I don't know. Whatever. All I know is that I have someone inside my head, and it's annoying sometimes."
"And you want Akane to marry this guy, Dad?" Nabiki said.
Soun sighs a bit. He really wanted to wed the two schools, but he may have bitten more than he could proverbially chew. Certainly, with his future son-in-law having a curse, any budding relationship between his daughter Akane and his best friend's son is fraught with complications…
Throwing up his hands in the air, in defeat, Ranma heads back inside…
{Wow, that was fun}, Bayonetta said.
'So, no you speak?' Ranma replied indignantly.
{You offended me. It's not you haven't done so before.}
'Yeah, yeah. Anyway, I hope I never see that girl again.'
{Given your track record? Need I remind you that you have interested parties looking for us}?
'Yeah, don't remind me. And that girl who attacked us…she seems to have your fighting style.'
{That's because we grew up together in same convent of witches}.
'Wait, what did you say…?"
Meanwhile, the mysterious, yet stylish, woman sits on her motorcycle, while parked on a nearby roof.
"So, that's your Ranma…my little lost lamb," said the woman, whose name was Jeanne, one of the few umbral witches left. "Not impressed."
{I only lent you my body because your sense of direction is better than mine}, said a young man's voice in Jeanne's head.
"Yeah, well mine's is getting worse by the day, and as soon as there is a way to separate us, the better."
{Fine, but remember this: I get to have my revenge on Ranma…as I am}!
"We'll see, lamb. We'll see…"
