Chapter 9 Interrogation

League of Shadows Dojo 9:45 pm EST

Batman watched the League of Shadows HQ from a nearby building. Two ninjas were pacing by the front entrance. Batman shot a grapple over to the rooftop of the Dojo. Swinging by, the ninjas caught a shadow in the shape of a bat on the ground. Looking up, they jumped at Batman.

Quickly throwing two batarangs at them, Batman landed in a handstand on the roof. Jumping quickly into a battle stance, Batman anticipated the coming attack. Inching towards the edge, Batman grew cautious. looking over the ledge, he saw one ninja hanging on the ledge. Before one could blink, the shadows soldier jumped up and kicked Batman.

Sionis Mills 9:45 pm EST

Robin and Superboy had been interrogating crooks all night, looking for info on Haverage and Scarecrow. Robin was strapped with cash, and Superboy had lots of anger in his attitude. The two approached Sionis Mills owned by Roman Sionis, AKA The Black Mask.

"What the heck do you kids want?" Black Mask asked, slightly enraged that they'd gotten into his office.

Robin slammed five hundred dollars on the table.

"Information." He said.

Black Mask looked at the money and then at Robin. "That's all?"

Robin glared at the villain, who just glared back. Pulling out five hundred more dollars, the white suited villain looked pleased.

"What would you kiddies like to know?"

"Haverage." Superboy spoke up. "What do you know about him?"

Black Mask looked at the pile of money on the table. He looked at Robin again. Robin growled before pulling out five hundred more dollars. Slamming it on the table, Robin shouted, "Now TALK!"

"Ah! Aaron Haverage. Scarecrow's friend. He's a big time kidnapper in Gotham. Sometimes he goes out of the city, going far and wide to find his victims. They all end up coming back here, in Gotham, where they go to Scarecrow to be his test subjects for his fear gas. Recently, he captured a couple of young 'heroes', and did, well, stuff, with one. I feel for the poor girl."

Robin's anger blew out of proportion.

"What happened!?" He asked, demanding an answer.

"Well," Black Mask looked at the money again. Robin glared at him. Stepping back, Robin simply said, "Superboy." Superboy stepped forward and cracked his knuckles. He grabbed Black Mask by the collar of his suit and slammed him against the wall.

Robin said, "Now TALK! While you still can."

Leaving Black Mask's office, Robin now had knew info under his belt. Now he had more reasons to bring Haverage to justice. Sionis had passed out while being interrogated, but he told them that Two-Face had more info than he did. So off to his hideout.

League of Shadows Dojo 10:00 pm EST

Batman was dragged to the feet of Ra's Al Ghul by the ninjas that had attacked him. Getting up Batman saw Ra's telling his men to leave the room. As they left, Ra's turned to Batman.

"Detective."

"Ra's" Batman walked towards Ra's. "I know you have something to do with Haverage and Scarecrow. Sportsmaster and Secret Soldier are protecting them. WHY?"

"Detective, figure it out. With your Team in our torturing hands, we all win, and The Light gets revealed."

"How do we all win?" Batman demanded.

"Well not the Justice League. I didn't include you. But Detective, you and I have a mutual respect for each other. And when we fight, it is pointless. Like two chess players of equal skill, competing to see who is the better, neither opponent gaining on the next. We are both wise men, Batman. I have the wisdom of six centuries under my belt. You have yet to reach my level of life experience, but we are intellectually equal. You know which side is the winning team. So why don't you join it?" Ra's asked, extending his hand.

"If we were equally smart, you'd know that you're the one on the wrong team." Batman retorted. "But either way, I don't care. Just tell me how to find Haverage."

"I'm sorry Detective, but I cannot disclose that information to you." Batman was from behind. Standing behind him was Cheshire.

"Wow, I snuck up on Batman. Impressive!" Her grin was as big as the one on her mask.

"Yes, yes, perfect my dear, now take him away." Ra's ordered.

"Yes Great One."

Gotham Clock Tower 10:45 pm EST

Two-Face was hanging by a rope, head straight above the ground by several feet.

Robin kept a tight grip. "Talk Two-Face."

"Alright! Alright! I'll tell you what I know! He's been trying to round up every young hero in Gotham! You guys are going to be Scarecrow's test monkeys!"

"Go on." Robin edged.

"And when he's done with you, he'll go back to testing his fear gas on helpless civilians. And that's all I know!"

"Good enough." Robin said pulling up the White-and-Black suited villain.

"Do you know anyone who can give us more information?" Superboy asked.

"Well, Haverage's a well known name here in Gotham at the moment. So anyone could give you more. But," Two-Face looked thoughtful.

"But what?" Robin asked.

"There's only one guy I know who'll cooperate with you willingly. This guy seems to be Batman's underworld informative. His name's Matches Malone. I bet ya he'll talk." Two-Face took out his coin and flipped it. When it landed, he said, "I know he will."

Gotham Club 11:00 pm EST

"What is this place?" Superboy asked.

"You don't wanna know." Robin answered. "Let's just get in, find Malone, and get out."

They walked inside. Robin scanned the place. In one of the booths on the far left wall, sat A man in a black suit, with a black fedora, a black sunglasses. He had a mustache, and a toothpick was sticking out of his mouth. Robin walked up to the man. Batman had talked about him before. Walking up to the table, Robin asked, "Matches Malone?"

"Who wants to know?" The man replied.

"Robin." The Boy Wonder replied.

"I know a few Robins. Which one are you?"

"Batman's Robin." Robin said.

"Oh, okay. Come to get information?" Robin nodded.

"I ain't got none, goodbye." Robin reached into his utility belt and pulled out two thousand dollars.

"Got some now?" Matches smiled.
