I do not Own Twilight, Stephanie Myer Does, I just play with it.
I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and yawned. Why did my head feel so dizzy? Throbbing. I ran my fingers through my ruffled hair. What time is it?
I put my hand out to reach for my phone on the night stand and heard the loud crash of something to the floor. I jumped a little as my eyes jolted open. My body froze.
I took a deep breath of shock as my body stilled at my strange surroundings. My mouth opened a little and then closed again. Oh God. What happened last night? I'm in a bed. I don't remember last night.
I sat up completely. Put my hands to my chest. I was wearing a small short white nightgown.
This is not good Bella
The room was bathed in soft light creeping in from the closed long curtains. It was daytime. I closed my eyes and put my hands to my face. Think Bella. It was so hard to think between the panic and headache that I was getting.
I looked over the side of the bed to see what I had knocked down. It was a book. I leaned over the bed and picked it up. The Lincoln Lawyer. Lawyer. A Lawyer. Edward was a lawyer. Edward!
I dropped the book again. OH MY Goodness. Edward! Last night. It was slowly coming back to me. But oh god, did we sleep together? Did we have sex? I felt myself to see if I hurt. I couldn't remember.
We had a date.
We went to a garden.
What happened after?
This sucked. This is awful. How could I be so stupid? I was always supposed to be in charge. No telling what he did to me. Where were my clothes?
I jumped out of the bed and quickly regretted it as my head throbbed a little. Must move slow Bella.
I looked around the room for my belongings. Clothes, purse, anything. The only thing I had was the short thin gown that rode up quit high and swayed every time I moved, which was unnerving.
I heard the faint shut of a door. I froze in my tracks. It was coming from outside the bed room.
I heard footsteps approaching the bedroom door. My eyes widened as I looked down at my attire. Without thinking I ran to the bed, jumped in and pulled the covers up around me.
I watched as the door knob turned ever so slowly. I pushed my body into the soft mattress and pulled the blankets up further.
It opened to revel a smiling Edward, who peaked his head in, his eyes landing on me. He opened it further at seeing I was awake. I blushed at his casual attire of black jeans and a blue and white checkered shirt.
Don't blush Bella! No telling what this man did to you.
"Good morning Bella."
I cleared my throat, which for the first time I noticed was very dry. "Good morning Edward," I said suspiciously.
"Did you sleep ok?" He asked as he approached the bed.
"What happened last night?"
He grinned again at me as he bent over and picked up the book that was on the floor and set it on his side table.
"Well, we went to dinner with my company-"
"You know what I mean."
"I put you to bed. You had a little bit too much to drink."
"Nothing happened?" I asked pulling the blankets closer
"I would not take advantage of you Bella. I can be a gentleman you know." His smile died a little, almost as if he was hurt that I would assume such actions from him.
He left the room for a moment and came back with a glass of water. "Here," he held the glass out to me.
I unfolded my fingers from the blankets and reached out to take it, taking a long drink of it.
"And these," he held out two white pills to me. "Aspirin." I took them from him and downed them with another gulp of water.
"Thank you," I whispered. I couldn't help feeling that I had hurt him in some way. But how could he blame me for thinking such thoughts? It was normal for men to take advantage of women.
"I took the liberty of getting you something simple to wear, along with some comfortable shoes. I guessed you did not want to wear your special dress and heels out for normal public. Well, actually, let me correct that. I didn't, a stylist did. But I approved only what I thought you might like."
I looked at him, surprised. "Edward, you didn't have to do that."
"I know." He said moving towards the door to leave. He seems really hurt. Could he really be that affected by what I said? "The shower is through that door if you would like to clean up" he pointed to a small door off to the side. Why didn't I see that before?
"Thank you. Again."
"You're welcome Isabella."
I got up slowly and went to the restroom to clean up. Showered, and put on the clothes Edward had given me.
A light baby blue knee length skirt and a pearly white lace top. They fit just right. Which was a little strange. I blushed as I pick up a pair of pink lace underwear. I guess he covered everything. He was Mr. Perfect.
I slipped them on, fluffed my hair and decided to leave it down. I had no makeup with me, but I thought I looked ok. My headache was also starting to go away. What a relief.
Just as I was about to exit the bathroom, I stumbled upon a small box on the floor. Had it always been there? I don't remember seeing it when I came in. But then again I was still fighting a headache, maybe I missed it.
I reached down to pick it up. The silver writing on the top of the box read, Saks. Very expensive place. I felt that sick feeling in my gut again. The thought that Edward lavished me with expensive gifts was probably and always would be unsettling.
I opened the box to find a small pair of light blue pumps, with small shiny sparkles on the side. They were so simple, so elegant, and so me. I slipped them on. The first word that popped into my mind was clouds. They were like walking on clouds as far as comfort was concerned.
I didn't know anything with a heel could be so enjoyable. I smiled as I gave myself a turn in the mirror. He had good taste, I had to admit. And he understood my taste. I was still not sure if I liked that.
I opened the bathroom door, refreshed and smiling. Edward was sitting on the edge of the bed reading through the book that was on the side table. He looked so, innocently handsome.
He looked up at me and then at the shoebox in my hands. His brow raised, as if waiting for me to talk first.
"Thank you," I said blushing a little, "for the clothes and the shoes".
"My pleasure, Bella. Always. I hope they are to your liking." Edward stood up and walked over to me, taking the box from my hands and tossing it on the floor.
"How much were they? I can pay-" Edward immediately held up a hand.
"No Bella."
"I don't take charity. And I always pay my debts Edward. I know this must have cost a lot of money."
"Not at all." Edward smirked. "But if you're so keen on repaying me, I would consider it paid if you have breakfast with me."
"That's not what I meant Edward. Again, that's you paying for me."
Edward stepped back from me, smiling as he did so. "Give us a turn Isabella." He twirled his index finger around.
"What?" I felt the heat sink into my cheeks again.
"Let me see all of you. Turn slowly."
I bit my lip and started to turn. I crossed my arms feeling a little embarrassed. There was a little fear that I might disappoint him. Standing in his presence was hard at times. He was so perfect in appearance that I never felt I measured up.
"Hands by your side Bella." I put them down and felt again even more exposed. When I had turned full circle I stopped and tipped my head to the side.
"Does it look ok?" I didn't mean to, but my voice sounded so pleading. Of course I wanted him to like it, but I didn't mean to make it look so obvious.
Edward looked at me smiling, reading me well. "Turn again." His voice was low and demanding, but he still held his soft smile. I slowly turned again. My heart was pounding. Was there something wrong? Did I not match his expectations?
Edward cleared his throat, stopping me mid-turn. He placed his hands on each of my arms, pushing his nose to the back of my hair. He inhaled deeply and then placed a small kiss on it. "Beautiful Bella. Your innocence always intrigues me."
"Thank you," I whispered, my voice stuttering. Goosebumps running up the sides of my arms from his warm touch.
"As for money, I gave you nothing you didn't deserve. You will get used to this life Bella. It is my privilege to give, even though it cannot possibly compare to what I am receiving in return. You will accept them from me, because it will please me, as you have stated previously is your desire."
He turned me the rest of the way to face him. "No more talk of pay backs. Understand?" I felt like a child compared to him, however it was more so in a sexy dominate way. I kind of like it?
"Yes. Yes I understand Edward."
Edward smiled again, "I do realize it's hard for you. On other things I am more flexible, but this must be my way. It is a pivotal and inevitable part of this relationship. You must learn to accept it."
"If it would please you, I will do my best Edward." It was hard for me to accept. But I also knew what he said was true. In these types of relationships it was an inevitable factor. It was best not to provoke too much of an argument with it.
"That's my girl." Edward lifted my chin with his finger and placed a kiss on my lips. I smiled up at him, biting my lower lip a little. Edward's eyes zeroed in on my lips. He reached his hands up to my mouth and pulled the skin away from my mouth. "Don't do that again Isabella." He smiled at me. "Too dangerous. Let's eat, I have breakfast waiting for us."
I half smiled at his command. Biting my lip was sort of an unknown habit that I would have to be more aware of now apparently. Edward could be a bit bossy it seemed at times. There was respect for me but also dominance. He seemed to balance them perfectly.
We sat at the small inside dining table. A plate of scrambled eggs, wheat toast, bacon and fruit sat on the table in front of my spot.
"There's only one plate," I stated plainly taking my seat in front of it.
"Yes, I'm sorry I have already eaten. Just coffee for me now." He took his seat across from me picking up a mug that had already been on the table and took a sip. "Please eat, you must be hungry. Especially after last night."
I nearly chocked on the wheat toast in my mouth and struggled to clear my throat. Edward motioned to the glass of water near me, to which I grabbed.
"Edward," I said calmly setting the glass back down, "um last night." Edward had mentioned he would not take advantage of me. But what if I consented last night and didn't know what I was doing? I had to be more sure. He seemed hurt when I asked about it earlier, but maybe something did happen and he thought I regretted it. I was putting too much thought into now.
"Yes Isabella?" He smirked as he picked up the newspaper and unfolded it.
"Well, I know it must have been quite a night." I was hoping he would fill in details.
Edward chuckled, but never looked up at me from his paper, "yes it was. Very stimulating."
"I can imagine." I said poking at the eggs on my plate struggling to ask him the dreaded question without actually asking him.
"I don't think you could." He picked up his mug and took another long sip.
"Well maybe I could, if you remind me," I smiled at him but he continued to look down at his paper.
"Do you drink coffee Bella?" What? I stared at him blankly.
"What?"
He looked up at me finally, "Do you," he said slowly, "drink coffee?" Why was he avoiding the question? Did something really happen last night? Did he regret it if it did? He completely ignored an obvious question.
"Um, sometimes, why is that relevant?" I was slightly irritated. I wanted answers.
"This coffee here is very good. Well brewed, some of the best coffee of all the places I've traveled. Would you like some?" I opened my mouth then closed it again. Confused. He was confusing.
"Actually I was hoping we could talk about last night Edward. Not change the subject."
He chuckled, "you find my question irrelevant. While I find this conversation about last night to be equally irrelevant for this morning. Since we already discussed nothing happened, I see no reason to carry on a conversation about it. I was not changing the subject just starting a new one. Does that answer your question?"
I looked at my food and then back at him. He made me feel bad about asking. It was a perfectly legitimate question to ask given I was drunk and woke up in his bed.
"Yes. Its just that I was, as you said, a little out of it, and I woke up in your bed and didn't know what to thinkIjustwantedtoknow," I mumbled.
Edward smiled a wide grin at this. "Isabella, if our relationship ever crosses that road, know that you will be fully aware, feel everything, and not be the least bit in doubt as to whether or not we had sex."
Did he have to be so forward? My eyes widened at the statement and I could feel the heat in my neck rising to my face.
"After all, we are still getting to know each other. Things should naturally progress, don't you think?"
I nodded. "Yes Edward." I was starting to see my age compared to his. He made me feel somewhat like a child at times, put in their place. He reacted in such an older way to my actions. But I kind of liked his control.
I finished the rest of the contents on my plate, satisfied and full. It was delicious.
I stood up, which grabbed Edward's attention immediately from his paper. His eyes followed me as I went in the small kitchenette. I picked up a spare mug on the counter, which I presumed would've been mine and poured myself a cup of coffee.
It was stemming hot, but smelled wonderful.
"Cream is in bowl next the sugar jar," Edward said still looking at me in a fascinating way.
"Thank you," I said opening the small round packets of cream and pouring in at least three, and then four scoops of sugar. Edward scrunched his face at this, but held an amused smile. "What?" I said, "I like my coffee sweet."
"Just like your wine," he added with a smirk.
"Yes, like my wine," I repeated in a low voice taking a sip of the coffee.
"You have a sweet tooth Bella. Nice to know you prefer sweet things."
"Sometimes," I replied with a smile. The coffee was just right and it was very well made. Edward was right.
"hmm," he said turning his head back to his paper, "I wonder how you react to things that aren't so sweet." I had a vulgar thought run through my mind about sucking him off but quickly shook my head. He glanced up at me with a mischievous smile, as if knowing my thoughts.
"Well, you will just have to see."
"I will," he smiled wider, "in time." I gave him a shy smile. Then I took another sip of my coffee. "I hope you don't mind Bella, but I took the liberty of contacting Alice this morning to let her know I will be bringing you home safe today."
I nearly choked. Omg! Alice! Rose! "You contacted Alice?"
"Yes, they were quit worried about you. Especially a young woman named Rose."
"Worried?"
Edward chuckled, "yes I was adequately threatened."
"I'm sorry," I half smiled. I hope they were not too hard on him, it wasn't really his fault anyways.
"Do not apologize Bella. Its good to have others worry about your safety."
I smiled again, "yeah they are like my family. Thank you for doing that." Edward folded and set his paper down, pushing it off to the side.
"Isabella, come here." My eyes widened a little. Did I do something or say something wrong? Edward smirked at my face, "come here, please, Isabella." I scooted from around the counter and approached him slowly.
He pulled the chair that was across the small table over to sit next to his chair. "Sit please." I took my seat next to him, slightly nervous. "Bella, I'm wondering if you would let me be a little bold and ask you a serious question."
What did that mean? I cleared my throat. "Depends on the question Edward." He smiled.
"Fair enough. Your real family." That struck an instant cord in me, I cringed at the thought. Edward noticed immediately and looked me straight in the eyes. "May I ask, if you have one? I suppose I'm wondering how an innocent young beautiful girl like you got into this business. Surly you are of more value than any price could ever pay."
I looked away and set the coffee mug on the table, remaining silent. Edward didn't break the silence either, just simply waited.
"I have one, yes."
Edward still sat there, waiting for more. When I didn't respond he ran his hands through his hair and breathed out a sigh. "Do you see them often? Have contact with them?"
"No. I doubt they would want to see me anyways." Edward's brow furrowed, with confusion and concern. "I don't really have a relationship with my parents. I used to go to college for a while."
Edward smiled, "college. For what?"
"Psychology and Social Behavior."
"Ah, reading people," he chuckled, "why only a little while?"
"I just," I shook my head, "I just stopped."
"Why?"
"I didn't have the money anymore. And god forbid I should ask my parents for help."
"They did not support your college?"
"No. If anything I think they were glad to be rid of me when I left their lives."
"You mean fend for yourself."
"Yeah," I said looking down, "it didn't go so well at first. But then I found Rose and Alice. They took me in, showed me a new life. They are my family." I was clearly violating the rule of not giving too much personal information. Why was I being so open with him?
Edward smirked at me, put his hands on both sides of my head and pulled me close placing a soft kiss on my lips. I let out a shaky breath, as chills ran up my arms. "What about your family," I breathed out.
"Yes, I have one," he smiled. "My mother, teaches piano in her spare time to young children. My father is a doctor. They are the best people in my life. They have supported me in my pursuits. I see them as often as my time will allow. My mother can become quit sad if I'm away for too long."
"Sounds like a nice family."
"Perhaps you will meet them one day."
I looked down a little intimated by the thought. "I don't think they would like to meet me."
"Why not?"
"Well, look at me Edward. I'm a high class companion for rent. An upper class hooker."
"Isabella, do not speak of yourself that way again. I will not allow it. You speak as if you are of little value. I am looking at you, and I gain great pleasure in what I see. Do not be little yourself again, especially in front of me. You are beautiful, and special in my eyes."
I felt a warm blush and I smiled again, biting my bottom lip. I couldn't control the hotness that was forming in my cheeks and on my chest.
"Miss Swan, are you biting your lip again?" I looked up surprised at his tone of voice. It was demanding, but sort of playful.
I smiled a little, shrugging my shoulders, "yes," I said slowly. Edward grabbed my upper arms and pulled me close to his face, our lips inches away.
"Have I told you what that does to me?" I just looked into his emerald eyes and couldn't find the words to speak up, as his face was inching closer to me. "Allow me to show you." Unexpectantly, he lifted me from my chair and placed me on his lap, my legs straddling his. I felt his hand run up my back making me arch into his chest. Feeling his tense legs between mine, my breath started to catch. Chills were running up my arms.
He brushed some of my loose hair from my shoulder, and roughly pulled the thin lace top off my shoulder. "Edward-" was all I said before I felt his warm moist lips on my neck, making their way to the exposed skin of my shoulders. I felt his lips suck on the tender skin on the curve of my neck. My heart was pounding. I could feel him getting aroused, with my legs parted on top of his hard member that was coming through his pants and my thin pink underwear.
I ran my hand through his hair, which caused him immediately to become more aggressive as he let out a soft growl. He grabbed one of my breasts rubbing his thumb over the nipple through my shirt as he continued to drag his tongue up and down my neck
It felt so good. I was always against touching, but Edward made it seem right and so wonderful.
I started to tuck my hips up against his hardness, dry humping him. His lips paused at the tip of my ear. He chuckled a little, letting me continue while he sat there. "Feels good." His hands moved down to my rear, where he placed both his hands, pushing me into him harder. I could feel his arousal pushing into me just begging to get past my thin panties.
"Please," I said breathing harder and tucking faster.
Edward leaned back in the chair, and looked at me. The image I would have imagined would be a blushing sweating fool just begging to be let off. "Please what Bella?" He pushed me harder into him, speeding up the pace. My head was spinning, I couldn't think clearly. "Do you like this? Do you want more?"
How was it possible for him to do this to me? I felt on fire, and this wasn't even the real thing.
"Yes," I breathed out. Edward suddenly stopped. What?! Keep going! "What are you doing?" I said flustered and out of breath. I was almost there to my climax.
Edward smiled at me. "That's what you do to me Bella. Now you understand how I feel. Just when I feel like taking you in one moment, I realize I can't. Yet that is. I said I would show you what you do to me," he smirked again at me. "But, bite that lip again Isabella, and I'll have to take you into the other room and spank you."
My eyes widened a little and I half smiled, "what?" I said dumbfounded.
"I said do that again, and I'll have to take you over my knee." He smirked at the face I held.
"And what happens if I forget, it's sort of a habit."
"A habit I will enjoy braking. Do it again, and I will have to take action." I smiled and wondered if I really wanted to do it again, just to see what he meant by his words. "Do you understand Bella?"
I smiled deeply again, feeling a sort of tingle of excitement in the pit of my stomach. "Yes Edward." Edward laughed rubbing his hands along the sides of my arm.
"Oh Bella," he moaned, "What am I going to do with you?"
"You can kiss me again," I said blushing. I had already learned to love Edward's kisses. So addicting, and passionate. He grinned.
"Actually, I'd like to give you something." My smile died a little. A gift? Ugh, no.
"Edward-"
"It's not a gift. I'm well aware how uncomfortable that makes you. So I try to not give you too many in one sitting. But instead it's something that is needed between us."
"And what is that?" He lifted me off of him, stood and disappeared into his bedroom for a moment. When he returned he was holding a large yellow envelop. He took his seat on the sofa and motioned for me to come. "What is that?" I said taking my seat, leaving some distance between us.
He set it down on the coffee table, and opened it promptly, pulling out a stack of papers. "It's a contract Bella." Oh.
"This isn't fifty shades of grey is it?" I asked giving him an uneasy look. Edward smiled.
"No Isabella. It's better. I don't need ropes and chains to feel in control. I naturally am. Besides, I prefer my women free range." I was surprised he knew what it was to begin with.
"Good to know," I said eyeing the large stack of papers again. He smirked at me, like he wanted to say something but held back.
"This is a contract between us. Things I expect, things I will give. And there is also a place for you to put in your expectations. Dos and don'ts. Read through it carefully. At the end there a place for both of us to sign."
"Does this mean I no longer have freedom to do what I want?" Edward sighed, giving me a slightly scolding look.
"Of course not Isabella. It is more so something to bind us together as companions. Something that gives us both boundaries to follow when in public, and private. It is to make us both feel safe, knowing what the other wants and desires. I wish this to be a happy companionship. Therefore we should be able to come to an agreement on each other's needs. Please read through it."
"And if I disagree with some of the things you want or am not ready for them?"
"Then we will discuss them, and take them out if there are still objections." I picked up the stack and flipped through the pages quickly. "I don't expect an answer immediately. Read through it slowly, and carefully. Think of it as a protection."
"For who?" I mumbled.
"You," he said. I looked at him surprised. He held a small smile, "and me."
"What if I agree and later find out that I disagree with something? Is a contract really needed? I feel trapped."
"If something comes up that you later disagree with, do not worry Isabella. We will come to an agreement that suits us both. It's not meant to trap you. You will read in the contract that you can terminate the relationship at any time and are free to leave with no strings attached. My goal is to make sure you are happy Bella. If something bothers you, I consider it an obligation to adjust it."
Ok that made me feel a little better I suppose. "Ok Edward. I'll read through it. This is my copy right?"
"Yes. I have another, they are the same." Good. That was my second question. I nodded.
"Well, thank you for making it I suppose." Edward just smiled at me again.
"You're welcome. I hope it's agreeable to you. I should take you home now. I'm sure Alice and Rose will be missing you. And I also have some work in the office I need to attend to." I knew he was right, but a part of me didn't want to leave just yet.
"You have to go in now?" He smirked.
"Yes Bella. How else will I keep my mind busy, trying not to think of taking you into the next room and fucking you till tomorrow morning?" A felt a deep blush seep into my checks and arousal again within my lower areas.
"o-o-ok," I stuttered out, licking my dry lips and swallowing hard. "Well, um, I guess that's good." He smirked at my shyness.
"Come," he stood up, holding out a hand to help me up. I grabbed my purse, and the contact and followed him. Oh wait, my clothes.
"Wait, where are my clothes from last night?"
"I'll them send over. I had them sent to the cleaners." Oh.
"Oh, you didn't need to do that, but thank you." Edward smiled down at me, grabbing the tip of my chin and stroking it.
"You're welcome always." We walked out of the room, down the elevator and outside the main entrance of the hotel. He took my hand and led me to a black car that was waiting out front.
"My driver will see you home safe."
"What?" I asked panicked. "You're not taking me?" Why did I feel like he was blowing me off? It did not seem like the gentleman thing to do.
"No. I have some business to attend to. He is a safe driver. I trust him with my life. I would never put you in bad hands Bella. You know I worry."
Or you could just drive me yourself and then you know I would be safe.
"Ok," I said quickly turning away from him to get into the car. However he pulled me back into him. He ran his hands through my hair slowly, letting each strand fall smoothly.
"I'm sorry Bella. I didn't even think to ask you how you feel about it. Sometimes I assume things I should not. And I know I can be a bit thoughtless when it comes to what other people want. If you are not comfortable, I will gladly take you myself."
"No, its fine Edward. It's fine." Edward leaned in and kissed me lightly on the lips.
"Text me when you are home safe Bella." I looked up into his eyes, and just melted. How did they hold so much passion?
"I will," I bit my lip while smiling a little. There was something so electric about his touch. It just sprang through my whole body and everything just lit up with excitement. Edward chuckled a little, pulling the soft skin from my teeth.
"Remind me to spank that ass pink next time we meet."
That caught me off guard as a blush of red spread from my face to my chest, and I looked around to see if anyone heard it. "Edward," I said in a low voice.
Edward snorted a laugh. "Goodbye Bella. Please let me know the moment you arrive home safe. I'll be waiting." He opened the car door and let me slide in. Edward bent over and put my seatbelt on, pulling it tightly to make sure it was in place. He delivered a kiss to my forehead, and ran his fingers through my hair one last time before shutting the door.
The car took off immediately. I lifted up off the seat and looked through the back window of the car. Edward was still standing there getting smaller and smaller in the distance. He was a puzzle. Every day I gained another piece, but still wasn't sure of the complete picture of him just yet.
But he made my heart pound so hard it felt like it would come out of my chest at times. He sent tingles up my spin and his passion was able to tear through the barriers I had built up over my life. Barriers I thought could withstand anything. But they were tissue paper up against Edward.
I looked up at the driver. The silence was eerie.
"Hello."
"Good morning Miss Swan."
"It's Bella. Just Bella. So you're Edward's driver?"
"Yes Miss Swan. I have strict orders to take good care of you, and deliver you home safe," he lifted his eyes up to look at me through the review mirror and gave me a soft smile.
"Oh. Well, thank you. It's kind of you." He didn't respond. "So how long have you worked for Edward?"
"For about 10 years now." 10 years. Wow.
"Oh. You must be good friends. I mean you must have a good relationship. You must know him really well."
"We do Miss Swan. And I do."
"So, how many girls do you drive all over the place?" I knew it was a bit bold, but I thought I would at least ask. I was slightly curious.
"So far only one. That is you Miss Swan." Oh… I swallowed hard. I felt guilt for asking and also hoped he would not mentioned to Edward that I asked. "You must be special to him."
"Um, I don't know, I um, I guess." I heard his soft chuckle under his breath.
"I would say it's very likely Miss Swan."
"It's Bella, you can call me Bella."
"You can call me Jasper. Is everything alright back there Miss Swan? Do you need anything?" Bella! Maybe he wasn't allowed to?
"Um, no. I'm fine. Thank you. Jasper." I sighed and looked out the window of the passing landscape. I felt my phone buzz in my purse and quickly reached for it.
A text from Edward. I hit open.
"Every thing ok?" I sighed. Never ceased to amaze me how much he worried.
"Yes, thank you. Just getting very acquainted with your driver."-Send
"Very? Not too acquainted I hope."
"Don't get jealous Edward."-Send. I laughed a little under my breath.
"Impossible. I already am. I wish it were me taking you home. Once again, I apologize for that Bella."
"I'm learning so much about you." -Send.
"Oh? Care to share?"
"Nope."-Send. I laughed again.
"I see. Hmm. Well I'll have to get it out of you another way. And I will get it out of you Bella."
"Oh? I suppose you don't care to share how you will do that, do you?"-Send.
"More than happy to share. When the time comes."
"You are more generous than me Edward. By the way, I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but, thank you for the lovely evening last night. And for this morning. Taking care of me. And being a complete gentleman."- Send.
I really was thankful for the way Edward treated me. It was more than I deserved at times I believed. There was a pause. I wondered for a moment if he would respond.
My phone lit up, "my privilege as always Bella. You are quite adorable when you sleep. It was worth it."
I blushed. How did he always manage to say just the right thing to make my body go crazy?
"You were watching me? A little stockerish don't you think?"
"I was watching you intently. Stockerish? I'd like to think so. ;)"
"Aren't you supposed to be working Mr. Cullen?"
"Yes Miss Swan. But I prefer to stock you." I giggled. I actually giggled.
"You have my permission to do so. But after your work."
"Oh. Are you ordering me Miss Swan?"
"Yes I am Mr. Cullen. Is that a problem?"
"Oh no Miss Swan. I'll allow you a little control for now. I enjoy it actually. It makes our relationship even more intriguing."
"I think so."
"Text me when you get home safe. My meeting is starting. I'll do my work now Miss Swan."
"Ok." I smiled again to myself and had to take a deep breath. Even through the phone I was completely turned on by Edward. I picked up my purse and threw my phone in it. A small white envelope caught my eye.
It looked like the one he had previously given me after our last date. I pulled it out and opened it. Money. All hundreds. I pulled it out and looked at it, my eyes wide.
I started to count it. And a small note fell out from in between the bills. I flipped it open:
Isabella,
Thank you for the wonderful evening. It was more than I could have expected. I wish I could show my gratitude with the passion I feel for you. You are worth more than I could ever pay with money. But until I can repay you in the way I would like, this will have to suffice.
-Edward Cullen.
I smiled at his note. When did he find time to get all this money? And have it in my purse before I left? I ran my fingers over the money, and started counting again. Last time he had given me 5,000. Which was ridiculous. Appreciated. But still ridiculous.
My eyes got wider and wider, as I reached 2,000. And still had more to go. I kept going till I finished. 4,999.00.
Why am I surprised? I coughed a little to clear my throat.
"Everything alright Miss Swan?" I looked up at Jasper, who held a smile through the review mirror. "There is some bottled water in the side by you." I grabbed a bottle and took a sip.
"Thank you, I needed it."
"Are you alright? Do you need me to pull over?"
"Oh, no. I'm fine. Thank you. Please continue. I'd like to get home as quick as possible."
"Will do Miss Swan."
This was too much. Way too much. I picked up my phone and started to text Edward. Give him a piece of my mind. We talked about this.
"Oh Miss Swan, here. Mr. Cullen asked that I give you this." He handed back an envelope. Another letter? I grabbed it from his hand.
"Thank you Jasper."
I tore it open quickly. Yep. It was another letter.
Isabella,
Before you get upset about the money, I want to say I'm not ignoring what we talked about. The money is less than what I gave you the first time. This money is to help pay for expenses that I know come naturally with this arrangement. Attire, footwear, cosmetics and gasoline. Your payment is in there as well, I just thought I could group them all in one. Please accept it. I expect you to look sinfully enticing on our next meeting, which I hope is soon after you have reviewed the contract. Beautiful Bella.
-Edward Cullen.
I wanted to be angry with him, but he was making it awfully difficult to be upset with him. Who could argue with his logic? And his kind mannerisms of delivering it to me?
I sighed. What have I gotten myself into?
I picked up my phone, and scrolled down to Alice's name.
"Hello?"
"Hey."
"Bella. Are you on your way home? We were really worried about you last night. You know we always tell each other if or when we decide to stay the night."
"I know, I know. Trust me, it was unexpected."
"Well, are you ok?"
"Yeah. I'm fine. Really. He was really kind to me. And nothing happened."
"You should get yourself checked to be sure."
"Alice, I'm sure nothing happened."
"Did you sleep in the same room?"
"Yes," I sighed, "but nothing happened. I know it sounds all wrong and sort of unbelievable, but he didn't do anything. Except pay me."
"Well, Rose was a little upset, you can imagine. I mean this is your first job. And you didn't come home or call. However, Edward did. He gave us the address, and a few pictures to assure us. Then his license information. He told us we could call at anytime, and that he would make sure you got home safe this morning. Rose didn't want to ruin your job, but she was a little frustrated."
Edward didn't tell me those other details.
"I know, he told me he contacted you."
"He doesn't seem like a bad guy. But Bella, we were just worried about you. I'm so happy you're safe."
"I'm sorry. I feel so stupid."
"Well, lucky for you, Rose is out for the day. Second date with some guy Emmett. So you will just have one thrashing today from me." She laughed.
"I'll accept it. I know I messed up. But Alice, there is something about him that I just can't put my finger on. I know he would never hurt me. I trust him. Is that weird?"
"No. It's perfectly normal to feel attached to your first job. This is all new for you."
"No, it's more than mere attachment. It's like. It's different. I don't know. He's so, passionate." I paused for a moment and then laughed a little embarrassed when I saw Jasper's eyes through the review mirror. "Um, well anyway, I'll give you details when I get home. I'm being dropped off by Edward's driver."
"Driver? He is not driving you home?"
"No. He had a meeting."
"He should have still drove you home in my opinion."
"Well, he offered. But he had some work to do Alice. It's ok, we worked it out."
"We?"
"Yeah. It was not a big deal."
"I want every detail when you get home."
"It's the least I can do after I freaked everyone out. You will get them. I got to go. I'm almost home. Bye."
"Ok. See you soon. Bye."
I bit my bottom lip thinking about Edward. I smiled as I brought my hands up to my lips and touched them imagining that they were his fingers.
I knew I had to keep my head. I had to keep my senses and not lose control. Granted, Edward turned me on every second I was around him, and he made me blush like a new bride, but a night like last night could never happen again. It was good fortune that Edward was not some crazy psychopath, but it was still reckless on my part. Alice was right. I could not be so careless.
This was still a job.
"We will be pulling into your residence in a moment Miss Swan, if you want to get your things together." I nodded.
"Thank you." When we pulled in, Jasper helped me out of the car and walked me up the door. He crossed his hands behind his back and mothioned for me to go in. "Thank you again," I said.
"My privilege," he smiled.
"Um, by the way. What you heard in the car-"
"Already forgotten Miss Swan. It's really not my place."
I smiled a laughed a little, "thank you." The door suddenly opened to a smiling Alice.
"Hi Bella," she reached forward and swung her arms around me, "glad to have you home."
"Me too," I laughed. "This is Edward's driver Jasper, he was the one who brought me home."
"Oh," she said smiling at him. "Well, thank you for delivering her safely to us."
He smiled timidly, "of course."
Alice smiled back, "incidentally, Jasper what?"
He cleared his throat, "Whitman, Jasper Whitman." They shook hands.
"I'm Alice Lane."
"Beautiful name," he said smiling again, "for a beautiful girl. But I'm sure you hear that a lot."
Alice laughed a little, "not as much as you think. But thank you for flattering me."
I couldn't help but think that I should leave them alone for a moment. Maybe this was my way out of that thrashing she talked about.
"That's a shame. Perhaps if I have the opportunity to take Miss Swan home again, I'll remind you." She smiled again. "I'll take my leave now, Mr. Cullen will be expecting me back soon."
"Ok, then. Thank you again." Alice slowly shut the door, but peaked through the side glass as the car drove off.
"So he seems nice," I said giving her a smile while batting my eyes.
"Oh be quite," she said waving me away. "I was merely being polite. After all he did bring you home safe." Her words reminded me to text Edward.
"Right, and there was nothing going on there between you two?"
"No. Of course not. And don't try to change the subject off of you."
"Yeah, ok. Maybe it was me, but I felt it getting a bit steamy between you two."
"Don't be ridiculous. I'm sure we will never see each other again." I caught a little blush in her cheeks as she went into the kitchen. "Are you hungry?"
"No, I ate with Edward this morning. I'm still kind of full."
"Well, I'm making macaroni and chicken."
"Um, well, then I'll probably have a bite. Maybe for lunch." I said smiling. Alice's macaroni was amazing. But she only made it on special occasions. I laughed again. Perhaps it was a special occasion. She and Jasper seemed to hit it off pretty well.
I pulled out my phone, scrolled to Edward and clicked to send a text.
"I'm home safe."
The reply was instant.
"Good. I'm glad. Thank you for remembering. How was the drive?"
"It was good. He was very kind. And took care to make sure I was comfortable."
"So good to hear. Did you have a chance to look through any of the contract?"
"Not yet. Going to later tonight."
"Ok. I'll be working late tonight. So if you have any questions, please ask. I'm available to answer."
"Oh, believe me, I will Edward."
"Oh…..I like that Bella. I appreciate that quality about you."
"Me too lol."
"We have something in common. Did you get my notes?"
"Yes. I have to say, I was a little upset at first. But I understand your reason for giving me the money. Even though I still think it's too much."
"I see. So you accept it?"
"Yes, Edward. Thank you for being generous. But I don't need that much money next time."
"Ok Bella. I'm happy you accept it. And I will make sure to lessen the amount." I smiled as I knew now what he meant by lessening money.
"You must be tired after your drive. And want to spend time with your family. I have a few conferences. Thank goodness, it's the only way I can keep my mind off of you. But I know my mind will still keep you in the forefront."
I smiled. Such a charmer.
"I'll hunt you all day."
"And all night…." I blushed again.
"Goodbye Edward. I'll text you with any questions."
"Please do. Goodbye Bella."
I could already smell the fresh cheese from Alice's cooking. I knew, regardless of my eating not so long ago, that I would be hungry for her food.
Then it was off to read that contract.
After explaining my new clothes to Alice over some macaroni and chicken for lunch, she finally let me go when I brought up Jasper. I was starting to see that he was my winning card to get out of uncomfortable conversations with her. She stayed to clean up, while I scampered off to my room.
I didn't mention the contract to her. I knew she would want to read it too, however I didn't feel like sharing it.
I locked my door.
I went to my purse and slowly pulled out the stack of papers that were rolled up and hidden in the bottom. I jumped on my bed and opened to the first page.
It contained all the logical and responsible reasons for this contract, in Edward's language of course. It contained our names, age, and gender. In more sophisticated language, the "parties" of the contract.
I skipped the second page and froze.
You will have to excuse the wait. I know I'm bad. I did mention some of my life, I do live with my SugarDaddy. He is more than that now. But insists I finish my college, it comes first. So just got out of Finals. And He also tends to travel so sometimes I move a lot, with him and its hard. But I'm sorry. I know where I am going with the story.
