Chapter 13: The wheels on the bus
A/N: Hey everyone! I'm so INCREDIBLY SORRY I haven't updated…well anything. In like…years. But I finally found the urge and time to continue at least this story (god knows if I'll finish it ever but here's hoping-that's what you guys get for encouraging me not to kill Ga Eul off! ;) Enjoy~!
Ga Eul's P.O.V
It had been just a few days since I'd called Woo-bin sunbae with an update about his sisters. He said he ran into a few snags while in Chicago, so he'd be gone a little longer than planned. This was alright with me. I'd gotten used to taking care of Min-Ji and Min-Young. They might be a bit exuberant, but they were fairly well behaved kids. As I stared out the window at the pouring rain, I couldn't help but sigh. It had been awhile since I'd been released from the hospital, and I could go back to school soon. But I still hadn't heard so much as a peep from Yi-Jung sunbae. I guess he really was just trying to be nice…
"Ga Eul-unni!" Min-Ji flounced into the kitchen.
"Yes?" I responded, attempting to shake off my sudden depression.
"Can we go somewhere? We don't have school today, and Min-Young is being boring!"
"Hey! I am not! I suggested watching Princess and the Frog and that's your favorite movie!" Min-Young retorted angrily as she leaned against the doorframe with her small arms crossed.
"What do you want to do Min-Ji?" I asked gently as I gestured for her sister to come sit next to me.
"Can we go to the art museum? The one that you're always talking about?" I winced internally. She would ask that wouldn't she? The museum was holding a special exhibit on Yi-Jung sunbae's work this week. Figures. But if Min-Ji really wanted to go…
"Min-Young what do you think? Do you want to go to the pottery museum?" I questioned as I mentally crossed my fingers and hoped she'd say no.
"Isn't that where Yi-Jung oppa's pots are? I always wanted to see them; he hasn't brought us any in a while!"
After it was decided we'd go to the museum, the girls decided that they wanted to be "normal girls", so they chose to take the bus. They didn't exactly fit in though.
"Ga Eul-unni where is the air conditioner button?" Min-Ji poked the sill of the window as she stared at passersby.
"This is a public shuttle bus Min-Ji. In the limo you have the button, but not on the bus." I tried to explain without making her feel bad.
"Oh." While Min-Ji pouted, Min-Young was having the time of her life, talking to other passengers and playing with another girl's hair.
"Min-Young come back here." I called as the bus started up. She obediently said good-bye to the young toddler whose hair she'd been braiding, gave the new messy plaits a pat and trotted back to the back seat she was sharing with her sister.
"I like the bus Ga Eul-unni. Can we take this every day?" I smiled weakly. "We'll see. You'll have to ask your Momma and Oppa though. This was going to be a long day…
Yi Jung's P.O.V
Ga Eul unni is taking us to see your pots! -
-Min-Ji
I felt a pang of sadness erupt in my chest. I'd been trying so hard to avoid Ga Eul-shii. To keep her safe from me. Yet she was coming to the museum when she had to know that they were showcasing my pots! Ugh. The guilt was incredible. I knew she was hurt by my neglect. But she was swallowing her pride for the sake of those two children she absolutely adored. Sighing, I stood up from where I'd been going through some paperwork for one of the new exhibits. The least I could do for Ga Eul was to not be here when she and the twins arrived. Placing the papers in the designated folder, I crossed the room and exited, dropping the folder on the secretary's desk on my way out.
Deciding to take the long way out, I meandered through the corridors of the "So Art Institute", critiquing the different pottery forms, taking note of any changes I thought should be made to room arrangements. Presentation was always very important. As I was on my way towards one of the side rooms where I could exit unnoticed, my phone buzzed unexpectedly.
I need a favor and I don't have time to explain. I've got guys on the way to find Ga Eul and the twins but I need you to stay at my place with them for a few days. –Woo-Bin
Huh? What was happening? Woo-Bin rarely asked for favors so I knew something bad was going on. Grabbing the attention of two security guards I nodded in the direction of a secluded alcove. Speaking quietly, I showed the two guards my phone. A picture of Ga Eul's smiling face beamed at them through the cell screen.
"If this woman shows up alone, or with these," I flicked through my phone until I found an image of Min-Ji and Min-Young sitting the F4 pool table during our Christmas party, "girls, please take them to the security room immediately. They aren't to be arrested, but they need to be protected. I have reason to believe they're on their way here. I'm going to look around the street outside, see if they've arrived yet." The confusion on the faces of my security guards was understandable, but not exactly helpful. Biting back a groan of impatience, I forced myself to remain calm. "If you see either the woman or the girls, I want you to take them somewhere secure, and call me immediately. Is that understood?"
"Yes sir!"
"Yes Mr. So!" Snapping salutes, the two guards walked off to scan the galleries.
They said they'd be coming to the museum. I've got security keeping an eye out for them. Am on my way to search the surrounding streets. Call or text as soon as your men find them. –Yi-Jung
Firing the quick text response to Woo-Bin, I strolled briskly across the marble entrance, tension setting my teeth on edge. Something was wrong. I could feel it. And Ga Eul was unlucky enough to be caught up in it. Glancing right and left, I took in the busy sidewalks in front of my museum. Where were they?
Licking my lips nervously hit speed dial 5 and pressed the phone to my ear.
Hello! You've reached the voice mailbox of Chu Ga Eul! I can't come to the phone right now but if you leave your message and your number, I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Have a good day! –Beep-
"Damn it Ga Eul, answer your phone!" I hit re-dial and got the same recording. God why wasn't she answering?
