(Jack)

No, no, not again. Not again, please, no. I don't understand, I could save my sister. I did save my sister. Maybe there's still a chance, maybe she can still be saved, oh god, please, help me. Take a deep breath, Jack. If you don't do this now, she will surely die. Get it together and save her.

I took a deep breath and dove after (y/n). She was still sinking, at an alarming rate. Sinking like a stone. Which only made me swim faster, and faster. It seemed like forever before I grabbed hold of one of her hands, which seemed to be reaching out to me, like a child when they want their mother to hold them, and pulled her close to my chest, and swam back up to the surface. Once we made it back to the top, I pulled (y/n) out and held her into my arm's. We were both dripping wet, and, although the cold didn't bother me, I'd imagine it must have been killing (y/n).

Her (h/l), (h/c), hair was stringy, and was clinging to her now snow-pale skin. Her skin is just like yours, a small voice at the back of my head whispered lowly. And I found myself shaking my head in denial. No, she's not me. It's not her time, she can't die. She can't die.

I lifted myself off the ground, (y/n) still in my arms, and flew. I flew, and I flew, and I didn't stop. I only did stop when (y/n) whispered my name, ever so softly, and slung to my sweater, her knuckles turning white with the pressure.

"(Y/n)?" I asked, my heart skipping a beat with hope.

"So...cold, Jack...it's...so cold..." she muttered, barely audible, between shivers.

"I know, I'm going to get you to North, okay? Just stay with me, please, (y/n)." I pleaded, my eyes tearing up.

She only nodded and clenched her eyes shut, her grip on my sweater loosening. Just please, be okay until we reach North, he'll help. He'll ask the Man on the Moon. He'll know what to do. I just have to move fast. I just have to keep flying fast, and hope I get there in time. No, not hope – I will get there in time. I will save (y/n), she will be okay.

She gave her life for someone, just like I did. Does this mean she'll become a guardian? Will she become the Halloween Guardian? Just like the prophecy foretold? Will she really go to Pitch and become one of his little minions? No, (y/n) is stronger than this, she's intelligent, she's simply (y/n). But is the Halloween holiday really so ruinous? No, it can't be.

Before I knew it, I was at North's workshop. I flew in through one of the open windows, and landed gently by the large display of the world, showcasing all the children who still believed in the Guardians. The numbers were steadily rising, not too fast, not too slow.

"North!" I called out, my voice echoing throughout the empty room.

Outside, I heard the elves working on the toys, and some of the yetis too, working away happily. Their happy persona did not match my mood, and I wanted nothing more than to take (y/n) out of there and take care of her myself. We could run away, and she'd never have to face her destiny. It could be just the two of us, against the world, yet so far away from it at the same time.

But that would be selfish, because I'd tear her from all the things, and the people, she loves most. Not to mention, I can barely take care of myself.

"Oh, Jack! Good to see you so soon! I trust (y/n) is okay, yes?" North asked, in his thick accent, before he caught a glimpse of (y/n) and his demeanor changed entirely, "oh no. What happened?"

I shook my head, "I– I, it was Pitch. He attacked us, and (y/n), fell into the lake trying to save me. Please, North. Do you think you can help me?"

North glanced at (y/n) and walked over to us, laying one of his hands gently on (y/n)'s forehead, "she is running high fever. I don't know if I can help, but I will see what I can do for her. I will call other Guardians, we might need their assistance. Please, take (y/n) to guest room, upstairs. There is warm blankets, and fireplace there. She will be warmer."

I nodded, and made my way up to the guest room upstairs. I laid (y/n) gently on the bed and covered her with the blankets.

Just please, please be okay. Hold onto me just a little longer.
