By great fortune Jim Hawkins was at the Benbow Inn when they visited on the morning of the fourth day. B.E.N. nearly stripped his gears he was so excited. Too bad they were unlucky enough to have chosen a day where Dr. Doppler, Captain Amelia and their new family weren't visiting. Meeting them would have to wait for another time.
"I see this is where you got your ship." Riku commented. A great many small vessels were anchored to the docks along the cliff.
That comment alone lead to a complete recollection of the Master's adventure on Treasure Planet with Jim and the pirates, all leading up to how the once most feared ship in the galaxy became theirs. Jim made sure to fill in the parts where he felt Rachel and Bryan were being too modest about their skills and just how vital their help was to restore the ship and get them all off the exploding planet.
Jim insisted he look over the ship before they left. Rachel and Bryan didn't bother insisting otherwise. They'd told him before they didn't use the engines, boosters and anti-grav systems because of the magic and their Keyblade made things fly. Hermes Olympian magic had repaired such equipment but there wasn't much need for it. But they also knew it was in Jim's nature to fix and build things. He also argued that accidents do happen and one day they may need the engines to work. But the Masters also knew Jim. He loved working with his hands and figuring things out, but he was also curious about how a ship could fly via magic. He'd always be willing to 'check for repairs' if it meant another chance to solve the mystery.
Jim announced that breakfast was on the house. He was glad to see his old friends again and pleased to meet new ones. He and Sora hit it off right away. Rachel insisted she repay the kindness. She used her animation spell to make the dishes wash themselves and enchanted a trolley to go to table to table to collect dirty dishes and bring them to the back. None of the guests really paid the self-moving trolley any mind. They probably just assumed it was some kind of specialized remote control or something. In a world of laser guns, flying ships, robots and aliens of all conceivable types, it was a wonder anybody could be really surprised by anything.
They burned off breakfast by rockin' in the jungle and partying with King Louise and his kingdom of rambunctious monkeys. Rachel promised Riku in private to show him something really cool hidden deep in the temple ruins someday. The commotion got the attention of Coronel Harthy's and his elephant patrol and he demanded the din cease. He softened when he saw Rachel and Bryan. The masters had returned to Paradise Jungle many times to explore the beautiful forest and had met all the friends they had before in the dream worlds.
All except Mowgli. In the reality version of Paradise Jungle, Shere Khan had been driven away in a similar manner as he had in the dream world. Shortly after, Baloo and Baghera came by the man-village and Mowgli had been so intrigued by a village girl he followed her and had been living there ever since. Cornel Harthy told them the last known location of Baloo and Baghera and gruffly suggested they no longer bring strange man cubs into his jungle. Rachel and Bryan couldn't avoid a crushing bear hug from Baloo and sat eating sweet jungle fruits while sharing their adventures. Meeting with the elephants reminded Sora of Dumbo and asked if that's where they could go next.
Their timing couldn't have been more perfect. It was just after noon when they arrived and the show was due to start shortly. Even amongst the last-minute preparations by the circus crew, several performers waved in welcome to Rachel and Bryan when they saw them. And as always, the Ringmaster just about came out of his cummerbund to see Rachel and Bryan again. It was too late to enter them in the show but he was happy to see them all the same. He had no problem extending their lifelong passes to friends either. He promised Sora, Riku and Kairi he ran the greatest show in the world and they would not be disappointed.
True to his word, the show was the most spectacular thing for Sora, Riku and Kairi. All the colors. The nonstop movement. And even with stomachs not even hungry they managed to share a large tub of popcorn. The acrobats did death-defying tricks on the high wire. The clowns did an act like they were all contesting for the best spot on the beach. They jumped around wearing snorkels, flippers, float rings and buckets of sand. One was 'fishing' in a tiny kiddie pool then 'tripped' inside and pulled a giant colorful fish puppet over himself to look like he'd been swallowed and ran around frantically.
The parade of elephants was by far the favorite. The elephants were donned with their colorful blankets and headdresses and held their heads high with pride. Rachel and Bryan waved wildly and shouted Mrs. Jumbo's name when she turned their way. Even from a distance the smile was obvious. She held her head a little higher and flared her ears. Then the elephants stood facing each other in two lines, their trunks held aloft like swords. At the sound of a rumbling drum roll, Dumbo appeared and soared down the aisle of elephants and zoomed around the tent.
"Dumbo!" Now it was Sora's turn to wave like a maniac.
The baby elephant trumpeted with all his little might, circled around again and high-fived Sora with his trunk as he passed. A few nearby children looked over at Sora with awe and held up their hands in hopes the flying elephant would do the same to them.
After the show Dumbo and his mother retreated to their private car on the train to say hello properly. Mrs. Jumbo was grateful to Sora for keeping an eye on her boy so long ago when he had the ability to summon the little elephant. As a parting gift, Rachel used her magic on Dumbo's flying goggles so they would repel rain and lightning so he could fly in a storm. The gift was accepted with a lot of joyous trunk kisses and a snuggle.
The show was less than two hours and the meeting with Dumbo was also less than an hour. That left enough time to spend the rest of the afternoon and evening somewhere else. Sora suggested Beasts Castle.
