Ashley

No words. Absolutely no words could describe Ashley's anger at this point. She sat cross-legged on the rock, waiting for Allie to get over the fact that they were now lost.

"Allie," Ashley said.

"We're not lost, Ash. I know where we're going!" Allie said, disappearing through the brush once more and appearing next to Ashley for the fifth time in a row. Ashley just looked at her training partner with a raised eyebrow.

"Ugh! Alright!" Allie yelled, exhausted. She sat down on the ground beside Ashley's rock. "We're lost." Ashley sighed and stood up, crossing her arms.

"Where is that Master of ours?" she asked.

"Which master?"

"The one who sent us flying into this stupid forest near the dojo!" Ashley complained. "It'll be thanks to him that I'm late to class! And I'm already on the verge of getting a detention for being late as it is!" Allie stood up as well.

"Well, we have to get back anyway, so why don't we start going? We'll eventually wind up somewhere," Allie said. Ashley sighed at Allie's never failing optimism, but she followed the girl nonetheless.

After a while, Allie still proved to be wrong. It was only thanks to their Judo teacher finding them that they were able to get back to the dojo in time for breakfast. Ashley refused to look or speak to Allie and her Karate Master the whole time. She just focused on her burnt omelet Haley made, forcing it down even though it tasted gross. She had to eat something and she just hoped that charcoal would substitute for real nutrients at the moment. Suddenly Haley poked Ashley's arm. It wouldn't have been strange, had she been sitting next to Ashley. However, Haley was sitting across the table and diagonal from Ashley.

"What's up, Haley?" Ashley asked, pausing midbite.

"How did I do this time?" she asked. Ashley put a finger on her chin and examined the omelet.

"Well, the eggs a bit burnt still. But, the insides are getting better and non-burnt. Keep practicing and you'll get it eventually," Ashley said. Haley smiled.

"Thanks!" she said. An awkward silence filled the room. "So…um Ashley! What's new with school?" Haley asked.

"Huh? Oh, well, we have an upcoming concert that the whole school is preparing for so we don't have full classes right now since we're focusing on that. Also, since the Karate club somehow got me to be a member, they are insisting that I attend this annual competition and get our school in the ranks," Ashley said.

"Really? That sounds really cool!" Haley said. Ashley laughed.

"Yeah, I just think it's funny that I'm the first girl member they've ever had and I'm the only one nominated to be a part of this championship!" Ashley said.

"I think you should consider doing it," Ashley's karate master said, sipping his tea.

"Really? How come?" Ashley asked.

"It'll introduce you to different types of karate and different types of martial arts users. It's not a bad idea to get to know the different types of people in the world," he said. Ashley nodded.

"I guess that's true. Alright! I'll do it!" Ashley said. Haley and Allie clapped.

"Hey, Ash. Would you mind if we come?" Allie asked. Ashley nodded.

"Sure, why not? I'll need the moral support!" Ashley said.

"Awesome!" Haley said. Ashley laughed.

"Alright, well I have to get to school! I'll see you all later!" she said.

"Bye Ashley!" Haley and Allie yelled as Ashley walked out the front door to meet her ride. Ashley walked up to the limo and was just about to open the door to get in when the driver got out and scolded her.

"Ashley! How many times must I say it? Please allow me to open the door for you! It's my job!" the driver complained. Ashley sighed. She forgot about that. She always forgot about it since it was such a pain in the ass to remember to let someone else open her own door for her.

"Yes yes, I'm sorry. I just don't see the point in having someone else open the door for me when I am perfectly capable of opening it myself," Ashley mumbled. She heard the driver sigh.

"Yes, I know all too well how you feel, Miss Ashley. You complain about this fact every morning," he said.

"I'll continue to complain about it for the rest of my days!" Ashley said. She and the driver looked at each other with serious faces, then broke out in a laugh.

"You are too funny, Miss Ashley," he said, closing her door.

"Well, it is sort of the truth," Ashley muttered jokingly, wiping the tear from her eye. The driver then entered the vehicle and drove off to Ashley's high school . She looked out the window, observing the fast passing scenery as it changed from close packed houses to close packed trees. Their trunks so thick you could barely see past the second row. Dew dripped onto the window as the car passed under the tree branch archway, the leaves dripping with the freshly fallen rain that just stopped about an hour before Ashley woke up.

"Ugh, I hate the rain," she muttered. "It smells horrible and it's just depressing." They arrived at the school about 15 minutes later. Ashley was just about to reach for the door handle when the driver's voice came on through the loudspeaker that was attached to the door.

"Please wait just a moment Ashley! I'll be right there!" he said. Ashley sighed and simply unbuckled her seat belt and grabbed her backpack. The driver opened her door less than a minute later and she stepped out onto the pavement.

"Thank you," she said. He nodded, closed her door behind her, and then disappeared into the driver's side telling Ashley he'll be back after school if she needed a ride home. Ashley waved him goodbye and he drove off as she made her way to the school's double doors.

Haley

I clapped my hands after I finished cleaning up breakfast.

"All done!" I announced to myself. Allie came in just then, gulping down some water. "Oh, hey Allie! Who's turn is it to cook tonight?" I asked Allie. She shrugged her shoulders.

"I think Ashley," Allie said. I nodded.

"Then I'll have to go to the store for more ingredients. She usually cooks a lot of different food for everyone," I said. Allie nodded.

"Sounds good. I would go with you, but I need to go back to training. The masters' are already getting on my back for requesting a day off for Ashley's concert. So from now until her concert, I won't be having any time off unless I'm eating, sleeping, or going to the bathroom," Allie complained.

"Sucks to suck," I said, getting out a notepad and a pen, writing down the usual Ashley ingredients.

"You suck," Allie responded. Suddenly we heard a yell and Allie flinched. "Shit." Then she disappeared around a corner.

"Language!" I yelled, not looking away from my notepad. I finished the list and went into the hallway, only to be bumped into by one of Allie's masters. He apologized and asked where Allie went. I pointed down the hall and outside. He ran in that direction and I just went to put my shoes on.
