As Eliza was driving in her Porsche 911 Carrera S, she received many stares from the people around Mystic Falls. Eliza had always had a love for cars, and she had always owned at least one since the 1920's, always upgrading them every time a better model arrived. Slow cars irritated her greatly, her reasoning that there was no point in driving one if she could run faster. She loved her Porsche and drove it everywhere. Despite being quite girly, loving cars was one of her tomboyish features.

Mystic Falls really was a beautiful town, and Eliza thought that Stefan was lucky to have grown up here, despite the town's knowing about vampires. It wasn't too big, yet wasn't too small either. It had everything you could possibly want in a town, plus more. As she drove past a forest, she pictured herself quenching that constant thirst lingering in her throat. Though she didn't particularly like the thought of harming another a being, hunting an animal sounded pretty damn good right about now.

Eliza had always hated drinking from humans, and never wished to hurt any mortals. Despite being quite an animal lover, she knew it was unavoidable and that she needed to drink from them in order to survive. It was either animals or humans, and she could only live with herself drinking from one of them. She did sometimes drink from blood bags though, if she needed it for strength - this is something she'd had to do a lot more recently.

After she'd ventured through the majority of Mystic Falls, she became rather bored of driving. Wanting to find something to do, she parked quickly and headed towards a small bar that was close by. It's was named the 'Mystic Grill,' which Eliza thought to be a very unimaginative name for the main bar in the entire town. Nevertheless, a drink could probably help her take her thoughts off things for a while; it could ease the pain that she felt since she found out that Lexi was dead, and would also ease her worry for Stefan and Elena.

Eliza could see how much Stefan loved Elena, and Eliza couldn't help but like Elena herself, since she resembled her sister so much. Eliza missed her sister everyday, and it was nice having someone like her around. Elena could at least ease the pain a little, which is why Eliza wanted her to be safe.

The Mystic Grill was a decent size, and looked to be one of the local hangouts. A large bar was at the far right corner, while tables and booths stood all around. There was a large pool table in the corner, and also some betting machines. Hurrying over to the bar, she took a seat that was a few feet away from a very handsome man who was drinking alone. She watched him for a second, noticing something oddly unsettling about him, though she couldn't pinpoint what. He spotted her looking, and turned towards her, meeting her eyes. For some reason Eliza couldn't break the trance he seemed to have put her in. Her cheeks started to go pink with embarrassment, and she finally turned away, looking to the man who had come to serve her. However, just before she turned away, she spotted his expression change. His eyes lit up, giving a look of recognition, like he knew her, though she couldn't recall ever seeing him before.

Klaus was sat in the Mystic Grill, drinking as usual. He was prepared. His vampire was Caroline, his werewolf was Tyler, his doppelganger was Elena and his witch was Gretta. Finally, after over 500 years, Klaus was finally going to get what he wanted… yet somehow he knew this would not fill the gaping hole in his chest. He would never stop feeling the pain of loss that never ceased to hurt him. By now he had learned to deal with it, and now in a few hours he could finally feel happy again. Hopefully...

Suddenly, as Klaus took a sip of his scotch, he could feel somebody's eyes on him. Instantly, he turned, and met those so well-known brown eyes that he grew ever so fond to. For a moment, he thought that the woman looking at him was Elena. But, as he took in the girl's beautiful features, he realized who it was, and his heart clenched. He immediately went into denial.

'It couldn't be her... after all these years… there's no possible way it was her' Klaus thought to himself as he gazed at the girl that he'd loved for almost a century. But there was nobody else she could be. One thing that was playing with Klaus' mind though, was why she didn't recognize him. Never once had he used compulsion on her, and even if he had, she was a vampire now, so she should have remembered anyway. Ignoring the pain and guilt he felt as he saw her, he approached her, taking a seat next to her while she ordered a drink.

"Eliza...?" Was all Klaus could manage to whisper. Her head snapped towards Klaus as the bartender placed the drink in front of her.

"Um… Hi… How do you know my name?" She questioned, looking rather confused. His heart fluttered at the sound of her sweet, angelic voice, and he had to hold back tears of happiness. Eliza Petrova was alive. After all the days he had spent grieving over her. The pain of missing her visiting nightly… But... she was back. No other girl could make Klaus feel like this, to make him soft. He had shut his emotions, down, always releasing his anger and sorrow in the worst ways possible, making everyone view him as the villain. After the initial shock of speaking with her once again, after all this time, the knife started to stab his heart again. She… She didn't know who he was.

"You're Eliza Petrova, right love?" He asked her, his voice stronger now. He smirked at her, the first genuine smile he'd given someone in 80 years.

"I am… But... how do you know my name? I'm sorry I just really don't recognize you..." Klaus' heart sank as she said this, and he furrowed his brows, curious as to how she didn't know realize who he was. At the time, he had been sure that Eliza's feelings for him were mutual... She'd told him that she loved him back when he professed his love to her. Surely she couldn't have forgotten him... Unless she had been compelled to. But the only person she could have been compelled by was his family, and only Elijah was the only one alive at that time. However, Elijah didn't even know Eliza.

"I...I must have you confused for someone else… Sorry." Klaus spoke quickly, looking away for a moment. "I've never seen you around this town before, love. Are you a newcomer?" He asked politely changing the subject, looking back up at her again.

"I'm actually here to visit an old friend." She replied simply, taking a gulp of her drink. Klaus now wanted to know more about her, how she was alive, and what she had been doing over the past 80 years.

"And who might this old friend be, love?" He asked, hoping to gain her trust so she could eventually open up to him.

"Stefan Salvatore." She answered, and Klaus struggled to hide the frown that was beginning to form on his face. Eliza and Stefan had been on a date the first time Klaus had met her, but it was obvious neither of them shared any romantic feelings. Klaus and Stefan had been good friends at the time, and that's when he and Eliza had fallen in love. He'd managed to compel Stefan to forget about him and his sister Rebekah, who had fallen in love with Stefan.

"Ah... I know him and his brother, Damon... Do you by any chance know a Rebekah Mikaelson?" He asked her, curious to whether Eliza remembered Rebekah at all.

"Her name sounds familiar, but... I don't believe I've ever met her before." At that, Klaus came to the conclusion that she was definitely compelled. But, he had no idea who had managed to compel her. Anger began to rise up in him at the thought of a vampire compelling Eliza to forget him. He swore he would kill the vampire who had done this to her.

"Who is she?" She persisted, not wanting the conversation to come to an awkward silence.

"Well, she's my sister... she was actually very good friends with Stefan once upon a time." Klaus responded, and Eliza nodded while downing the rest of her drink, then asking for another. Klaus frowned. Eliza hardly ever got drunk, and now it looked as if that was her goal. "So tell me what a beautiful girl like you doing here alone?"

"Just trying to get my mind off of things." She shrugged, downing the shot that she had just been bought. Klaus then started to worry slightly.

"What's bothering you, love?" Klaus asked, and he noted the hesitation before she gave her answer. It was obvious she was trying to decide whether or not she could trust him.

"Sister died, best friend's dead, friends are in danger. The usual." Eliza answered, swallowing another shot. In the 20's, Eliza had always been so sweet and innocent, and she still was. But Klaus could tell that she had become broken inside. He immediately realized which friends she was talking about, and he knew that Katerina had killed Annabelle so that he couldn't use her blood for the ritual. At the time though, Klaus hadn't cared, as all of the girls in the Petrova line were just a living memory of Eliza.

"I'm sorry for your loss." Klaus said sincerely, placing a hand over hers. With a small frown, Eliza quickly put her hand under the table. Klaus sighed, knowing that he wouldn't be able to hold her, kiss her or even touch her for a while. But, he soon came up with an idea.

" Remember me." He said, staring into her eyes attempting to use compulsion on her. This, however, didn't work at all.

She fluttered her eyes and looked away, awkward and slightly embarrassed.

"I… I'm sorry. I don't remember you at all." She responded. Obviously, the person had been smart enough to make sure that Klaus couldn't compel her to remember him. He hated compelling Eliza, and didn't want to just create memories in her head so that she would remember him. It would be wrong, so he let it go for the time being.

"So, I've told you why I'm here. What about you?" She asked him, her words starting to slur slightly.

"I have… stressful business to take care of here in Mystic Falls. My family and I are planning on moving here. But, I also lost the love of my life a while ago... and I can't seem to get over her." Klaus said, despair filling his voice. Eliza's face twisted into a concerned expression. She had always been that type of person. Even if she didn't know you, she would be worried if you were upset. She took satisfaction from helping others.

"What… What happened to her?"

"She... died." Klaus stated bluntly, not looking away from Eliza's beautiful face.

"I'm so sorry for your loss."She said, sincerity filling her apology. He nodded and smiled before taking a sip of his drink. "You never did tell me your name." She added, and Klaus sighed knowing that Stefan had probably told her about the ritual.

"Klaus… Klaus Mikaelson." He answered, looking up and seeing her expression morph into hatred without hesitation. Klaus' heart immediately ached as she stood up from her chair and backed away from him. "I know what you're thinking, love. But, really, I'm not as bad as everyone says I am."

"You're an evil, almost hybrid, who is the reason why my sister is dead, and why Elena and two of her friends are going to die tonight." Eliza hissed at him, quiet enough so only he could hear. Klaus sighed and looked down towards the floor, hating the fact that she actually looked scared of him. He desperately wanted to tell her that he would never hurt her, but he knew he couldn't. She didn't remember him at all, and she probably never would. Eliza had moved on, and he couldn't ever make her love him again. Eliza now hated him.

" Eliza..." He whispered, not able to hide the desperation in his voice.

"Stay away from me, Klaus. You're killing innocent people just to get what you want. I will forever hate you." She hissed again, before turning her back on him and storming out of the grill. In anger, Klaus chugged the remainder of his drink and threw his glass at the wall, causing people to stare at him. He then marched out of the grill, and decided to go back to Alaric's apartment. He was trying as hard as he could to wipe away the heartache he was feeling, but as soon as he'd returned, he sat in the bedroom, and began to cry. Just like he had done when he'd discovered she was dead.
