Eyes flashing open, Eliza began to panic. She was in a moving vehicle, that she knew. Where and what time it even was she didn't know. How long had she been unconscious for? Had she been kidnapped? What had happened after Gloria had performed that spell on her? Swiftly, her breathing picked up its pace, and panic filled her body. Only a small amount of light filled the moving room she was in, and she couldn't clearly make out anything. Suddenly, though, as she sat up from the ground, a hand clasped around her arm, and she screamed in fright.
" Shh, Eliza it's me." Klaus explained softly, loosening his grip on her arm, and instead wrapping his arm around her shoulder comfortingly.
" Klaus?" Eliza said, burying her head into his chest for comfort. Instantly she began to calm down as she felt the warmth of his body against hers.
" Are you alright love?" Klaus asked, concerned for Elizas well-being.
" I'm fine now, but Gloria she -"
" I know, I fed you my blood then killed her." Relief flooded through Eliza at this, and she then realised that she could no longer feel any of the pain Gloria had inflicted on her earlier. Before she had almost forgotten what had happened. But now she couldn't seem to diminish it from her mind.
" Thank you." She whispered a gratefully, pushing herself up towards him so she could peck him swiftly on the lips. A brief smile formed on Klaus' face before he pulled away from her, his eyes filling with an emotion that Eliza couldn't quite make out. Elizas face twisted into a confused expression.
" Where are we?" she asked, ignoring his strange behaviour for a moment.
" In the back of a truck that I compelled a man to drive for us." Klaus explained quickly, not looking Eliza directly in the eye. He was hiding something.
" Where are we going now? Have you found where the necklace is?" Eliza questioned further, hoping that he hadn't yet discovered that Elena was still alive. After all Gloria could have easily told Klaus before he'd killed her.
" Maybe." Klaus muttered, looking down towards the floor of the truck.
" What's wrong Klaus?" Eliza spoke after a few minutes of uncomfortable silence. For the first time since she'd kissed him he looked her straight in the eyes, and again she saw the faint emotion that was in there before. Still she didn't know what it was.
" Are you hiding something from me?" Klaus asked after a few moments, looking deep into her eyes so he could tell whether she was telling the truth. He knew her too well to know that she couldn't lie to him no matter how hard he tried. Eliza panicked, but hid it carefully and tried to keep her expression and tone smooth.
" No why?" Eliza answered sweetly, putting on a fake frown in confusion. Immediately Klaus looked away from her, and he moved from there embrace on the floor of the truck. One of his hands clenched into a fist, but he refused to get too angry with her. When he was angry, he was violent and despite everything he didn't want to hurt Eliza. He couldn't.
" You're lying to me." Klaus muttered, a deep angered frown etched upon his face.
" I'm no-"
" Don't lie. You'll just make me more angry and I don't want to hurt you. What I don't understand is why you can't tell me!" His voice was raised this time, and Eliza flinched at his tone. However, Klaus did not calm down, and for the first time in a while Eliza saw the monster inside him, the one she use to see before she saw the good in him. For the past couple of days the monster had all but disappeared, now it was returning.
" I can't tell you Klaus. I'm sorry." Eliza apologised in a soft tone, despite everything she knew she still liked him. It wasn't as strong as love yet but she was making her way towards that. She liked him just as much as she first had when she first met him in the 1920's, although then - from what she had seen - he never became angry.
" Gloria was right, you and Stefan are hiding something. I trusted you Eliza, and now you know where the necklace is!" Klaus hissed through gritted teeth, as his other hand clenched into a fist.
" I can't tell you." Eliza said more dominantly, desperately hoping that Klaus wouldn't change his mind about never hurting her.
" Why not, love?" Klaus asked bitterly, his eyes dark and monstrous.
" Because I need to protect the people I love." Eliza answered simply, and this was true. By not telling him she was protecting Elena, the only family she had left, Stefan, her best friend since the 1920's, and Klaus, so that Stefan, Damon and their friends wouldn't try to find a way to kill him. Hurt formed in Klaus' eyes and again he looked away angrily.
" So there more important than me. The one person I put my trust in betrays me! And people wonder why I never trust people! You were so much better in the 20's love." Eliza thought she saw a single tear slip from Klaus' eye, but before she could tell properly whether it was or not it had disappeared.
" Klaus-" But again he interrupted before she could say another word.
" Where going back to mystic falls as I have a feeling that I know what you and Stefan are hiding. If anyone gets in my way today I will kill them, even you Eliza." Klaus growled menacingly, before compelling me to go to sleep until Stefan wakes up.
Klaus sat with his head in his hands, trying to hold back the anger he felt towards Eliza. I need to protect the people I love. Those words ran through his mind over and over, and it hurt Klaus more and more as it dawned on him that he wasn't one of those people. Expecting that once Eliza saw his memories that she would fall straight back in love with him was a terrible mistake. What had he been thinking? Just a little earlier she had kissed him herself, and had used him for comfort. Wasn't that a sign that she did still have feelings for him? Or had it all been a lie so that she knew he wouldn't hurt her? Klaus couldn't decide. But the ache in his heart told him what he was going to do. He was going to win Eliza back no matter what, but his hybrids came first. They were the most important right now.

After snapping Stefans neck and compelling him to wake Eliza once he healed, he headed out to find clues. One person he knew Stefan and Eliza would always protect was Elena, but for all he knew she could still be alive. Eliza would definitely betray him for family since she loved her family very much, and it was obvious Stefan loved Elena as much as he loved Eliza. It wouldn't surprise him if Elena was still alive since no doubt if she was the Bennett witch Bonnie would have had something to do with it. He'd been stupid for him to think that she wouldn't interfere. But Klaus had his plan ready, it was foolproof as always and would soon have Elenas friends wishing they had never interfered.
Once he had checked Elenas house and the Salvatore boarding house he could immediately tell that Elena was still alive as her scent was very distinctive at both houses. However only Jeremy and Alaric were in at Elenas house and nobody was at the boarding house meaning that Elena was out. First he checked Carolines, then Bonnies, then Matts and even the werewolf Tylers but none of them were home but there parents. Then it struck him the one place that they could all be. High School. Picking up his pace he sprinted towards Mystic Falls only high school, and immediately he could smell the scent of Elena Gilbert. In fact many cars were parked outside meaning that a lot of them must be here. Even batter.
With a small smirk planted across his face he waltzed in through the front door, smirking as he heard the voices of Elena and her friends. They were each in the main hall, but just before he was about to head towards there a hand grabbed his arm. At first he believed it may have been Eliza, but the touch was unfamiliar. As he turned round he came face to face with none other than his sister.
" Don't leave me out of all your fun Nic, what's the plan?" Rebekah asked with a malicious smirk.
" The newest doppelganger, I believe, knows something about where your necklace is Rebekah. But I don't think I need it, because all I need to do is kill her werewolf friend then get her witch friend to find out what I have to do to make my hybrids. Elena is supposed to be dead and I think that has something to do with it. Grab the werewolf Tyler for me Rebekah and meet me in the main hall." Klaus explained and ordered before sprinting off towards the main hall. Casually, he entered with his signature smirk and every head in the hall turned towards him. Elena gasped in shock as she saw him, and as usual he avoided her eyes, not wanting to be reminded of Eliza at this moment.
" Seniors you've been busted! Prank night is over! Go home!" Klaus announced, the seniors that didn't know him groaned, got up and left quickly but Elena stayed where she was. Two teenagers were lagging behind, and Klaus seized his opportunity, he grabbed them both and compelled the girl to stand on one foot, and he told the boy that if she fell he must beat her to death.
" Klaus what are you doing? Where's Stefan?" Elena asked frantically, backing away from him.
" Stefan is taking... a little nap at the moment. I see your not very concerned for Eliza, after all she's done to protect you, love." Elena looked shocked for a moment, but before she could reply Bonnie and Matt burst through the door.
" Bonnie, Matt get out of here!" Elena warned them in a panicked tone, and Klaus smirked again.
" Ah, come join the party! I believe that you had something to do with why Elena is still here?" Klaus said, and Bonnie glared at him furiously, keeping her expression hard. Not an ounce of fear crossed her expression.
" Yes, if you want to blame someone blame me. It was all my fault." Bonnie said confidently. stepping closer towards Klaus. He chuckled at her confidence.
" Oh I don't need to place blame love. But your witchy interference has disrupted my plans a little. So I'm here to fix things." Just at that moment Rebekah strutted through the door with Tyler Lockwood in her grip, she threw him to the floor. Caroline followed in shortly. Smirking only for a moment, an angry expression formed on Rebekahs face as she spotted Elena.
" I see you found the bitch who stole my necklace Nic, the original doppelganger was so much prettier." Rebekah told Elena, giving her a piercing glare.
" This is my sister Rebkah, word of warning she can be a little mean. Now then, where were we?" After looking down at Tyler on the floor he spoke again." Ah yes, see I've been wanting to make more of me, some more hybrids. But every time I tried after completing the transition they die a very painful death. I think that has something to do with Elena here been alive. So Bonnie you're going to fix that for me." Klaus explained, the smirk not leaving his expression.
" I won't help you. I could kill your right now." Bonnie stated angrily, crossing her arms over her body.
" But you'd kill yourself in the process." Klaus said, his voice light and carefree.
" I don't care." Bonnie replied in the same furious tone.
" Fine we will do this the hard way." Klaus picked Tyler up from the floor by his shirt and fed him some of his blood, then he snapped his neck earning a gasp of shock from everyone but Rebekah.
" Tyler!" Caroline cried, running over to his now dead body.
" If you don't find a way to fix my Hybrids, Tyler will be dead. Now I'd hurry if I were you as I'm not very patient." Klaus ordered, darkness appearing in his eyes again. Immediately, Bonnie hurried from the room with hurt and sadness in her eyes, Matt too followed and he had a few tears streaming down his cheeks. " Rebekah take Tylers body somewhere where Bonnie can't find him, I don't want her witchy interference ruining things again. Take Caroline too and snap her neck, then return." Rebekah nodded and hurried away.
Once everyone had left, he turned back to face Elena who was sat on the floor in tears. Suddenly, he made the mistake of looking directly into her eyes, and immediately it hurt him to see the sadness, as it was like seeing Eliza hurt.
