That same painful scream. The one Klaus had been dreading would come. The one that was like a dagger to his heart. Eliza was hurt, and just by listening to her scream Klaus could tell she was hurt very badly. There was a possibility of death, but Klaus refused to believe that she could be. Stefan would never kill Eliza, their friendship bond was too strong. But had he underestimated Stefan when he said he no longer cared what happened to Eliza.

The feeling of worry he now felt was becoming too familiar - déjà vu. Countless times he had heard this scream, the one indicating she was in danger. It never failed to alert his protective side; the side of him that would protect Eliza no matter what the cost, even if it meant death. Though that was unlikely, worry for his own death was nothing compared to his worry for Eliza's death. She was just a fragile little girl compared to him; the hybrid.

It only took him a split second to react to Eliza's scream. Without even thinking he was running to find her. Finding her was easy; it was as if he'd become attuned to Eliza, like they shared a bond. Every minute of the day he was thinking about her, if she was in danger he came to save her. That routine was becoming too continuous. But it meant that he got to see her and speak to her, which was everything compared to thinking she was dead.

Bursting through the hall doors, which he had earlier taken Eliza through to bring her out of danger, he only just managed to jump over and not fall into a figure that was lying still on the ground. Immediately knowing that this was Eliza, Klaus crouched down by her side, rolling her over so he could see her wounds better. One thing was certain, she wasn't awake. This slightly worried Klaus, especially when he saw a large gaping hole in the part of the body where her heart was. Quickly, he stuck his hand into her chest to make sure her heart was still intact. Thankfully it was, and her neck had just been snapped.

Picking up her fragile body and cradling her in his arms, he ran back to his new house - that was yet to be renovated - and laid her down carefully on the old sofa by some of his boxes of things. Placing a light kiss on her forehead, hating the fact that they were currently fighting, he rushed back to the school where Stefan was struggling to not bite his precious Elena.

Melodramatically, he burst through the doors of the hall in which Stefan and Elena where in with a malicious smirk upon his face. Casually walking over to Elena, he grabbed her arm and pulled her closer to him. Groaning in pain, Stefan doubled over with the wooden pole he had shoved in himself still in his stomach. Klaus could see the pain Stefan was going through to not touch Elena, if it was Eliza he had told Stefan to bite he wouldn't have been able to resist as much. If this had happened to him and he'd been compelled to bite Eliza, he would probably be doing the same thing as Stefan right now. But he couldn't let anyone know this, and Stefan needed to be punished.

" Curious. The only thing stronger than your thirst for blood is your love for this one girl." Klaus commented, as Elenas heart began to race more rapidly against her chest. " Eliza you did hurt and did not resist from hurting. I'm guessing you would have done the same if it was Damon. But not Elena." Klaus carried on speaking, sprinting over to Stefan quickly and pinning him against the wall. " Kill her ripper."

" No!" Stefan screamed at him, pushing Klaus away roughly. A frown formed on Klaus' face at his reaction.

" I've had your alliegance all summer without having to resort to this. But I need you to turn it off ripper." Stefans face flashed with worry as he heard Klaus and again he pushed Klaus away.

" No." He refused.

" You leave me no choicec but to compel you." Klaus replied simply.

" No Klaus, please don't do this!" Elenas pleaded, and for a moment Klaus paused as she reminded him so much of Eliza. Pushing Eliza out of his mind, he pinned Stefan against the wall using more strength than Stefan was capable of defying.

" Turn it off." Klaus compelled calmly.

" No!" Stefan shouted loudly and defiantly, causing anger to build up within Klaus. In annoyance Klaus grabbed Stefan and smashed him into the wall again as hard as he could. After grunting in pain Stefan looked back up at Klaus.

" Turn it off!" Klaus ordered dominantly, and watched as Stefans pupils dilated. Letting him go, he ran over to Elena again and grabbed her before she could run. " Now. Come take a bite from the doppelgangers neck." Klaus ordered, as Elena froze in panic with tears rolling down from her Eliza-like eyes. Though Klaus felt no remorse, Stefan hurt Eliza so now he will hurt Elena.

Eliza awoke in an unfamiliar place, feeling only a slight amount of pain in her chest which Stefan had damaged an hour ago. The house that she was in she had never seen before; the walls were scratched and marked, every piece of furniture was covered with a blanket and many boxes filled the room she was in. Listening closesly she found that she was alone in the house. Before she made any attempt to leave she thought that it would be smart to know whos house she was actually in. It was most likely that she could take on her capturer if he returned, or it could be that this was where someone she knew from mystic falls had decided to drop her off so that she could recover without being disturbed.

Beginning her search, a large portrait stuck out of one of the boxes by the corner of the room next to the nearest window. Curiously she ran over and carefully picked it out of the box, being gentle enough so that she didn't break it. Turning it around she found a large drawing that had obviously been painted by an excellent artist, one that could easily sell a piece for thousands of dollars. A vast piece of landscape had been drawn and thunderstorm covered the majotrity of it, except for a small circle in the very centre, where everything was peaceful and beautiful even though it was hidden by anger and chaos all around. At the bottom right of the corner it was signed by the artists, and the delicate signature read ' Niklaus Mikaelson'. With a brief gasp, she stared in awe at the marvelous painting. She never knew that Klaus was a talented artist and now that she thought about it she really didn't know much about Klaus at all. All that she knew was that he had supposedly loved her in the 1920's and he'd spent the majority of his life trying to break his curse, killing many people who got in his way.

Looking back into the box she saw that there wasn't just that painting, but many. Picking up a large, ancient sketch book that was already slightly opened, she marveled at the drawing Klaus had done of himself on the very first page. Though the picture wasn't perfect, as some of his features were drawn wrong, he looked like the old Klaus she'd seen when he was being kind to her for once, the happy Klaus. Around the picture were many practises of his signature, and Eliza brushed her hand over the excellent drawing to brush away all the dust that had lingered on it. On the next few pages were drawings of five people, and he only recognised two. One was of his sister Rebekah, and the other of his brother Elijah. The other three were boys, and one of them had the same smirk that Klaus had himself. Looking at the names wrote underneath she discovered that they were all Klaus' brothers; Finn Mikaelson, Kol Mikaelson and Henrik Mikaelson. As she looked further through she found different drawings of his siblings; he drew ones of when they were younger and older. All except Henrik, as there was only one drawing of him when he was around nine or ten years old.

In fasination, Eliza began to look through the next book, but this time she wasn't as impressed by the drawings, and felt more curious. The first page of the next book was occupied with a picture of a girl who resembled Annabelle and Elena. Every feature was precise and accurate, there was no mistake like there had been on Klaus' own drawing of himself and his siblings. It was as if he'd memorised every single feature on her face. At first Eliza wondered whether he had drew her because of she was the key to breaking the curse. But the problem she couldn't get her head round was why he was drawing her if he hated all of the petrova doppelgangers. He had obviously loved his family once, which was why he had drawn them. Everything he had drawn he had cared about, so did that mean he had once cared about Annabelle and Elenas doppelganger ancestor? As she delved further inside the book she found that this one was filled with only pictures of the doppelganger, and that her name was Tatia Petrova. The final page answered all of her questions, there before her eyes was Tatia looked extremelly beautiful in a field filled with wild flowers, with Klaus himself sat right next to her with her arm securely around her. This sent a mysterious pain through Eliza, one she hadn't experienced before. Before she knew it, tears were streaming from her cheeks and a single tear dropped onto the drawing of Klaus and Tatia. So after all the times he'd spent saying it was her he loved, really it was Tatia.

" Eliza?" His familiar voice rang through her eyes, causing her to jump slightly. Immediately she hid her face, as Klaus froze when he saw her. " What are you doing?" He demanded, his voice demanding yet still soft. Eliza still kept her head turned away for a moment, before she forced herself to look at Klaus with tear stained eyes. Instantly Klaus' eyes softened as he saw how upset she looked, but then he spotted the picture she was looking at.

" You never told me you could draw." She said through tears, avoiding looking directly into his eyes.

" Its a private past time." Klaus answered quietly, his eyes still locked on the sketch book that Eliza held in her hands.

" One that you were unwilling to share with me?" Eliza asked.

" I didn't think it was important." Klaus told her, taking a few steps towards the sketch book. " You shouldn't even be looking through my private things, put it back in the box Eliza." He ordered, but she ignored him.

" You never told me about your family." She stated, dropping the sketchbook that held pictures of Tatia to the floor and picking up the one of Klaus' family. " I know nothing about you and you wonder why I don't believe you anymore!"

" Eliza-"

" No Klaus! You tell me you love me, you show me memories of our times together but how do I know its not all just some fake act? I've seen what you are capable of. I know at some point you cared about your family and at some point you were capable of love. You proved that with your drawings. Tatia Petrova is very beautiful after all, I'm not surprised you love her." Tears were still continouly rolling down her cheeks as she spoke, and Klaus only watched and listened with an expressionless face as he did.

" You shouldn't be going through my private things." Klaus said simply with a smooth voice, as if he was trying not to get angry.

" Its obvious you love her Klaus, from the drawings its obvious and by how protective you seem over this sketchbook. Don't even try and fill me with more lies. I won't believe them. It must have been so hard for you killing Elena, as she resembles Tatia exactly. It must have been hard for you seeing my sister. I wonder, is that why you decided to use me... because I don't resemble Tatia exactly but I have some of her features? Am I a perfect reminder of her?" Eliza questioned, and Klaus could easily see the pained expression she was trying so hard to hide.

" I haven't thought about Tatia for around 900 years. Drawing was my way of dealing with certain emotions I wanted to hide or remember. I haven't looked in that sketchbook for 1000 years. I have new sketch books, with new drawings. You know nothing about me Eliza, so don't pretend you do after see a couple of drawings that I drew." Klaus growled angrily.

" Then how am I supposed to believe you or even love you if I know nothing about you at all? I don't see any drawings of me at all, as all that is left in that box is other paintings. You never tell me anything about yourself, and all I know about you is what I've seen for myself. Stop pretending that you love me Klaus when you don't! If you did I would know more about you, if you did you would share these things with me! I've shared a hell of a lot with you!" Eliza shouted this time, throwing the sketchbook she still had in her hands to the floor again. Klaus' hands clenched into fists. Quickly he grabbed a different box that was beneath a table across the room and carried it towards Eliza. After dropping it onto the ground, he took a key from his pocket and opened the lock that closed the box. In there was a large pile of sketchbooks and paintings. Pulling out the first sketchbook he opened it and showed Eliza the opening page angrily. A beautiful girl that resembled Eliza exactly was drawn on the very first page, and as Klaus flicked through she saw that she was on every page.

" I drew you as soon as I met you, after you died, my way of coping was to draw you and imagine your smile and what you looked like when I was with you. Every good moment we had together I drew over the past 90 years. You filled up an entire collection of sketchbooks and each picture is different and unique. I have drawings of the house I imagined that we would live in one day, I imagined what our children would look like even though I knew we couldn't have children. I imagined what you would look like as a vampire when I turned you so we could spend the rest of eternity together. I imagined a world that I could never live in or make true because you were dead and there was still Mikael after me and my family! So don't you dare ever say again that I don't love you because I do. The heartless monster is capable of caring, for you and only you!" Klaus' loud, furious voice echoed throughout the whole of the house and silenced Eliza for a few minutes.

" Who's Mikael? Is that the vampire that you ran away from the night I was turned?" Eliza asked curiously after a few moments, not wanting to argue with Klaus anymore.

" Forget I said his name and don't ever repeat it again." Klaus growled, his eyes widening as he realised that he had told Eliza about Mikael - the vampire who had hated him since his birth and wanted to kill him. Eliza couldn't know about him. Knowing about Mikael put you in danger of being killed.

" Was he?"

" Yes." Klaus replied, his eyes cold with hatred.

" Why are you so scared of him? You can't be killed Klaus." Eliza asked, feeling slightly worried for him despite there arguements.

" If he knows that I care about you he will kill you or use you against me. You can't know anything about him since he was compel you if he ever finds you. The less you know the better. Now I must leave. I will be back in a few days, Stefan will protect you. Elenas blood is the key to making my Hybrids, so I'm going to find more werewolves. Stay safe Eliza while I'm gone and call me if you need anything." Klaus ordered, his voice turning softer towards the end. Despite there endless arguing, Klaus still cared and wanted to keep Eliza safe.

" Can't I come with you? We need to talk Klaus, you can't just leave now, right after we've argued and you've told me about all the drawings and memories you have of me. We need to sort things out because... because I have feelings for you too, you know." Eliza admitted, looking down towards the floor while blushing a deep red. A light touch on her chin brought her face up to meet his, and he placed a soft, quick kiss on her lips.

" It was nice to kiss you and hear that you have feelings for me before you hate me again." Klaus whispered, his hand cherishingly brushing over her cheek before he stepped back.

" Why would I hate you? I don't have any reason to. As long as you don't kill Elena or any of her friends then what reason do I have to be mad?" Eliza questioned with a small frown. Klaus bit his lip, a sign that he was feeling slightly guilty for doing something.

" I compelled Stefan to switch his emotions off so he's now under my control." Klaus admitted, watching her confused expression to change to anger. It was just like he had expected.

" You did what!? After my dead best friend Lexi spent decades fixing him from being a ripper!?" Eliza shouted furiously, getting more annoyed as a smirk formed on Klaus' face.

" I told you, you would. Call me if you need anything, like I said before I'll be back in a few days. This house is mine now as well so if you won't to stay here feel free to. Also Stefan has been compelled to protect you and Elena if anything happens. Stay safe Eliza." Klaus explained with a brief, loving smile at the end before he ran through the door, not even giving her a chance to shout and let out her anger. It was true that she had strong feelings for Klaus, but he never failed to annoy her.
