After returning to The Salvatore boarding house Eliza was displeased to see that Klaus was not lying when saying that he'd turned Stefans emotions off. Though she was happy that Elena was alive, she was now a lot closer to Damon which meant that he could easily steal her away from Stefan. That would be another thing to add onto the list of Stefans regrets and sad things once he gets his hummanity back. The worst thing, however, was when Rebekah stormed into the house claiming that Klaus had left her and she needed a place to stay. Unfortunately she planned to stay at the boarding house, so Eliza found herself considering staying at Klaus' new house. But she knew the next time she went back there she would end up searching through the boxes again.
The next day Rebekah, Stefan and Elena all went to school and Stefan made Eliza promise to ring him if she was in danger. The ripper Stefan was a dick, and Eliza could tell that he had been compelled to protect her otherwise he wouldn't have even spoken to her that morning since she had been trying to avoid him. Since she had nothing to do all day, Eliza found herself back at Klaus' house and looking through his boxes of belongings. For hours she looked carefully through all the pictures he had drawn of her, and the ones of there imaginative children and house. Despite still being angry with him, she liked seeing that he cared and it sent a whirlwind of happy emotions though her as she looked through all the drawings.
Once she had finished looking through the many sketchbooks that held drawings of her, she looked around the rest of the house. The house consisted of 6 bedrooms all together, and each of them had an ensuite bathroom. All of the bedrooms and bathrooms were upstairs, and downstairs there was a study, living area, conservatory, kitchen and dining area. Outside there was a beautiful garden that had many wildflowers in it, but looked as if it needed a bit of work to make it perfect. The place was bigger than the Lockwood Mansion, making it the biggest house in Mystic Falls.
For the next few days she carefully avoided Stefan and Rebekah at all times as they were both being horrible. The last time Eliza and Rebekah had spoken it didn't go down very well, and Rebekah ended up calling Eliza a whore. Since then they both tried to avoid each other but really Rebekah was still trying to pluck up the courage to speak to Eliza again, as she wanted her best friend back. Now that her brother had yet again abandoned her, she wanted company who actually liked her. However she kept her preppy demeanor, knowing that it would take a lot to get Eliza to forgive her.
Finding herself extremelly bored, Eliza decided to take a trip out into mystic falls town center. Though she'd already explored round mystic falls, she figured a second exploration would manage to occupy her for the afternoon. Today she didn't want to go to Klaus' house as when she went there shr thought about him, then she began to worry; about when he was coming back, about whether he was coming back and about the vampire that he was so afraid of. Today she wanted to be happy, as she hadn't been truly happy in a long time.
Walking down the chipped pavement, Eliza tried to occupy her mind, taking in every detail of Mystic Falls Town Center. She'd considered going to mystic grill, but then realised she would probably just end up drinking for the afternoon which she didn't want to do. Her drunken self was not a pretty site, plus she didn't want to do anything she would later regret. Suddenly, as she walked past a Ford Fiesta car, she believed she saw a familiar face she'd been wanting to see in at least 20 years. Turning back to the reflection in the car, she frowned for a moment. However in that single moment she stopped, Eliza was grabbed from behind and pinned up against a brick wall in a nearby alleyway. Instantly her free hand travelled to her phone so she could attempt to ring Klaus, but then she saw properly who had frightened her.
" Lexi!?" Eliza exclaimed in surprise, her eyes filled with confusion as she saw her dead best friend stood straight in front of her. Lexi's hair had grown a few inches since the last time Eliza had saw her, and she wore much more modern clothes. The leather jacket and tight jeans she wore suited her personality well.
" Eliza Petrova," Lexi smirked, her eyes lighting up like they always did when she was happy. After releasing Eliza from being pinned against the wall, Lexi wrapped her arms firmly around Elizas kneck pulling her into a hug. Lexi had always seen Eliza as a little sister, and as soon as they first met back in the 1920's they became good friends. Besides her boyfriend, Lexi had missed Eliza the most.
" How?... How are you alive? Damon... Stefan told me he killed you," Eliza asked curiously, still extremelly confused on how Lexi was alive. Stefan would never have lied about something like that, well the old Stefan wouldn't have anyway.
" I have no idea but I don't know how long I have before you won't be able to see me again. Think yourself lucky that I decided to spend my time with you rather than get revenge on Damon," Lexi answered, walking out of the alleyway and down the pathway with Eliza.
" I'm still plotting the revenge on Damon bit. I'll make sure to make it nasty for you." Eliza told her with a wink causing Lexi to chuckle.
" Look at you turning all evil and revengy," Lexi said, nudging her playfully. " Although I guess I should have guessed with your new found taste in men, your worse than I use to be!"
" How do you know about Klaus?" Eliza questioned, flushing a bright red from embarassment.
" The other side is lonely Eliza, I've spent my time watching over you and Stefan. I've seen everything. From Stefan turning to ripper Stefan to save his brother, to you trying to protect him, to you finding Annabelle, to you kissing Klaus, to Klaus saving you over and over. God it's like an endless bad romantic saga!" Lexi laughed, and Eliza hit her playfully.
" Me and Klaus are... well I don't really know." Eliza said truthfully, furrowing her eyebrows at the thought.
" Well first of all he's a physcotic original vampire who kills for fun but is extremelly good looking!" Lexi stated causing Eliza to laugh again. " Secondly, you and him really need to stop arguing. It's obvious how much he loves you! I can't believe he's the guy you always use to dream about and drool over in the twenties! I was always convinced you were talking about that Will guy."
" It's obvious? Really? What about what he's done to Elena and Stefan, he knows how much they mean to me," Eliza said, looking down towards the floor.
" Well he hasn't killed either of them, which is always a highlight. Although part of todays plan for me is going to be teaching you and Elena how to fix Stefan. He's no good when he's got his humanity switched off. That I am mad at the big bad wolf for. But you and him are perfect together, you bring out the best in him," Lexi stated with a small smile.
" I wish it was that easy," Eliza said, thinking of how much better things would have turned out if Klaus hadn't of thought she was dead in the twenties. " Anyways enough about my love drama. I really do need your help in fixing Stefan, I hate him like this."
" Well I'm the master at torture, especially when it comes to Stefan. I know his weaknesses," Lexi replied. " Come on, I don't know how much time I have left."
With a swift nod, Eliza followed Lexi at vampire speed to where she believed Stefan was. It only took a few seconds before they reached a pathway close to the town center, and halfway down it Stefan stood near a car. Looking at Lexi to tell her to wait there until she'd distracted Stefan, Eliza ran and blocked Stefans path so he couldn't walk forward.
" Eliza. What a horrible surprise," Stefan greeted her with a malicious smirk, causing anger to bubble inside of her.
" Oh don't be so mean Stefan, I've brought you a nice surprise that I know you're going to love!" Eliza exclaimed, planting a fake smile upon her face to hide the anger and disappointment she felt towards Stefan. Stefan stood confused for a moment, before Lexi joined Eliza's side.
" Lexi! My dead ex best friend, back from the dead," Stefan exclaimed, looking quite shocked but not at all happy to see Lexi.
" Dick Stefan, time to get you fixed," Lexi told him with a smirk, grabbing Stefans head and throwing it against the car to knock him out. "Come on Eliza we'll take him to the old vampire torture room." Lexi ordered, picking Stefan up effortlessly and running again. Quickly, Eliza followed. Again, it took little time for them to arrive and when they did, Eliza called Elena to come meet her and Lexi tied Stefan up down stairs.
As soon as Elena arrived, Lexi and Eliza led her into the room where Stefan was now being held captive. His eyes flashed open as soon as they walked into the room, and he shot a piercing glare at Lexi.
" To make Stefan feel again we're going to have to get into his head so he will believe that he hasn't blood in a long time, then we make him feel pain so he can't concentrate on the blood lust anymore, then we attempt to make him feel. It's not going to be pretty, so are you both ready?" Lexi asked both Eliza and Elena with worried eyes. She knew Eliza had always hated violence and that Elena would never want to see Stefan in pain. However they both nodded in agreement.
" I can handle it Lexi," Eliza stated bravely and Lexi smiled at her comfortingly.
" What is this!?" Stefan growled angrily, pulling against the chains that held him down. " Let me out!" He ordered with a menacing growl.
" Well hello to you too. How do you feel?" Lexi asked sarcastically, as Eliza leaned against the wall of the stone built room they were in.
" Let me out of here!" Stefan growling again, throwing a pleading look at Eliza and Elena.
" Shh. Anti voices please!" Lexi ordered, closing her eyes to concentrate. " I'm trying to get inside your head."
" You think this is actually going to work? Come on Elena, Eliza get me out of here. She's just a crazy dead bitch!" Stefan shouted, but neither Eliza or Elena responded to him.
" Right there we go. Now for the first part, to make him feel as if he hasn't had any blood." Lexi explained, staring at Stefan in concentration. In a flash, Stefan started growling and pulling against the chains as parts of his body flashed a grey colour and his body drained itself of blood. " You heard me with the not pretty part right?"
" We heard you." Elena responded this time, keeping an emotionless expression.
" What are you doing!?" Stefan growled more loudly this time, almost screaming in pain.
" I'm doing what I do best sweetie. Saving your damn life." Lexi replied with a sarcastic smirk, one that reminded Eliza a lot of Klaus' smirk. For a few minutes Stefan continued to scream in pain as Lexi walked in circles around him, still concentrating on draining the blood from his body. Soon all of Stefans skin had a slight tinge of grey in it and some of his veins became visible on his body.
" Stop this!" Stefan cried out, and both Eliza and Elena winced slightly. This was hard for them both, but they had to be strong.
" 3 months." Lexi announced. " 5 months. 2 years. 5 years." Lexi stopped announcing years, and stepped back for a moment, studying Stefan.
" Please Eliza. You're my best friend. I'll change, I promise. You and me will be close friends again. I'll bring Klaus back to mystic falls for you so you two can be together again. You know how mad he'll be when he finds out what you've been doing to me. You've fixed me. You can stop now. I love you." Stefan said calmly, his eyes full of honesty. But somehow Eliza could tell that none of it was real. A single tear slipped from her eye and she watched Stefans pleading expression.
" No. I know your lying Stefan. You're not fixed and I'm going to fix you. We both know that Klaus will only care if your dead." Eliza answered softly, looking down towards the floor as she spoke.
" Elena." Stefan whispered, turning to Elena. " Please. I love you, I always have. We can be together again if you let me out. I'll drink from animals again, I'll be the old Stefan that you love. Please." Stefan begged, and Elena kept a hard expression.
" No. I don't believe you." Elena said firmly, holding back the tears welling up in her eyes. Instantly, Stefans pleading eyes turned to angry devil eyes.
" Your both no help! I hate you both and wish I'd never met either of you! Eliza you're stupid for actually believing that I or Klaus ever cared for you! You're a horrible person and Klaus is just using you, can't you see? He cares nothing for you, and I won't hesitate to kill you if you don't let me out of here! The funny part is that Klaus won't even care if I do! He'll praise me for repaying him a favour that he was planning to do long ago! Now he will care if I kill Elena though, seems like he cares more for her doppelganger blood. But all the time we spent together Elena are nightmares to me! I wish it had never of happened since I hate you! I hate you both!" Stefan shouted angrily, and Eliza turned away with more tears running down her cheeks. All her attempts to be strong had broken down and now she couldn't stop the endless tears running down her face. Nothing that Stefan had said she believed was true and she hoped it wasn't. But hearing Stefan say it was like daggers to her vulnerable heart.
" See that. That's the ripper talking. Which means we come onto the pain part. The part were we create enough pain so that he can't concentrate on the blood lust anymore." Lexi announced, worriedly glancing at Eliza before shoving a stake into Stefans chest.
" I can't do this." Elena said, running out of the door quickly. Eliza stayed turned away from Stefan for a second, before taking a deep breath and wiping all emotion from her face. Over and over again, Lexi continued to stab Stefan with the stake and he cried out in pain each time. Eliza tried hard to hide the wince that came everytime Lexi stabbed Stefan, but she couldn't help it. Eliza couldn't imagine how strong Lexi must be to be able to do this to her best friend. She must care about Stefan a lot.
" Look at you. You spent all your life trying to fix me and now your dead you have nothing better to do." Stefan said with a pained smirk and Lexi staked Stefan again, making the wooden stake skim across his heart. He cried out in pain again just as Elena came rushing back in.
" We're running out of time. They have the necklace." Elena warned anxiously.
" What do you mean?" Eliza asked with a frown.
" It means I don't have long left Eliza. Which means I need to finish my job." Lexi said with sad eyes. " Get me more time Elena, I need more time!"
" I can't. I'm sorry. I know what to do now, I know how to fix him." Elena responded sorrowfully.
" Its ok. Stefan, remember. Remember the time you found that necklace. You said it gave you hope. Remember that?" Lexi said frantically, crouching down beside Stefan.
" That's ironic because it's no longer a symbol of that. Too bad for you that your going to die again Lexi." Stefan smirked and Lexi stood up, giving up since she didn't have enough time.
" You need to fix him Elena, promise me you will." Lexi said, while Eliza stood in shock as she realised that soon she would no longer get to see her best friend. This would be the last time Eliza would get to speak to her.
" I promise."
" As for you," Lexi began, turning towards Eliza with tears welling in her eyes. Eliza was already crying, and threw her arms around Lexis neck. " Take care of yourself. I'm sure Klaus won't let you be harmed and remember to not argue with him. He loves you, don't listen to what Stefan just said." Lexi told her calmly, not pulling away from the hug.
" Please don't go Lexi. I've missed you so much, I need you here." Eliza whispered, endless amount of tears running down her cheeks.
" I've missed you too, but I have to go. Don't do anything stupid. Remember I'll be watching," Lexi warned with a small smile, pulling away from the hug. Eliza attempted to reach out for Lexi again, but as she did Lexi disappeared into thin air and Elizas hand grabbed for nothing.
" No. Lexi no. Don't leave me," Eliza whispered, holding her hand in her hands as she cried. For a few moments she stayed like this, while Elena watched worriedly and Stefan attempted to break free from the chains yet again.
" Eliza I think its best if we head back to the boarding house," Elena suggested softly, putting a comforting hand on Elizas shoulder.
" Call Damon to take you and Stefan home. I need to be alone right now," Eliza replied and Elena nodded. Running out of the door, Eliza collapsed on a bench around a mile away from the torture room. Nobody was around to see and it was dark outside now. Already she missed Lexi and wished that they'd spent the day doing something other than torturing Stefan. But they both had to help Stefan as only Lexi knew how to fix him. Fix him from what Klaus had done to him. It was all Klaus' fault...
Soon her sadness turned to anger and Eliza found herself calling Klaus on her phone, something she had refrained herself from doing. Now she needed to hear his voice to calm her down and allow herself to let all of her anger at him out before she went back to loving him again.
" Hello Eliza love, how are you?" Klaus' voice sounded down the phone sending chills down Eliza's spine. This seemed to calm her emotions down a little, but she was still incredibly angry. With tears still streaming down her face she began to speak.
" It's your fault! It's all your fault!" Eliza shouted down the phone angrily, wishing that he was here right now so he could cuddle with her and tell her that everything was all right. Despite being angry with him, she knew he was the only one that could make her feel better. There was silence for a moment, before Klaus responded.
" What's happened love?" Klaus asked worriedly, not liking the sound of Eliza crying.
" All the ghosts from the other side appeared today and I got to see my dead best friend who I've been best friends with for a hundred years. Instead of getting to spend today catching up with her, I had to help her try and fix Stefan. All because of you! Now she's gone... I'm never going to get to see her again..." Eliza whispered the last part sadly.
" I'm sorry Eliza, very sorry. I wish I could be there with you now. So I could hug you better and say that everythings going to be ok. I'll be back in a few days love. Mourn over your best friend, it will help. But stay safe for me." Klaus told her comfortingly down the phone, and Eliza found herself calming down. However the tears still didn't stop flowing down her cheeks.
" Come back soon. I miss you." Eliza whispered, all the anger draining away. Just like that.
" I miss you too love. I'll be back in a few days. Now I must go though, I love you." Klaus told her and Eliza froze, unable to speak. She didn't respond and Klaus understood, hanging up the call so she didn't feel obliged to answer.
He loves you, don't listen to what Stefan said. Some of Lexis finally words echoed through her mind and finally Eliza found herself believing them. She was glad she had gotten to see Lexi one last time today. Despite feeling the depression of loss, Eliza believed she needed to see Lexi one more time so she could believe that she was gone, and move on. Though she would always miss her one true best friend.
Another emotional chapter! Lots of drama. I wish Lexi didn't have to go :( I loved lexi and wish I could have made her stay, but it would have ruined the plot line for this story. Eliza's definately going to miss her though! Plus I'm considering writing some more flashbacks of Eliza and Lexi, is that a good idea or not?
