Haley
Sakaki sighed.
"Alright, we'll take another break," he said, putting down his mitts. I sat down and sighed, glad to finally be able to sit down.
"Finally," I whispered. I rubbed my sore arms.
"Hey, Haley. I have a question for you," he said, not even glancing at me as he talked.
"What is it?" I asked, glaring at him for making me move so much already.
"Why do you think you still fall flat on your face even when you are only punching?" he asked. My eyes narrowed even more.
"Maybe because you move the mitts when I try to hit them? How should I know?" I muttered. He sighed.
"First of all, I take any training session seriously. Airgo I don't harass my pupils while training. Second, you put way too much motion into each punch. You gotta learn to let your muscles move separately. Let each individual muscle have the chance to move on their own. Your punches don't have to be fast to begin with. Do you understand?" he said. I looked down at my hands, remembering how I had wanted to get strong. They clenched into fists.
"Yeah, I guess so," I muttered, hoisting myself up and getting into punching position in front of him.
"What are you doing?" he asked in a serious tone.
"Showing you that I want to continue to improve myself," I said.
I promised myself that day that I would get strong enough to protect those who need my help. I won't let another person get hurt just because I tried to help but couldn't. Also, I get the feeling that I may need to be strong in order to find out who I really am. So there's no time like the present to start! I want to find out as soon as possible!
My eyes narrowed in concentration. Sakaki chuckled.
"Got it," was all he said. He put the mitts up and this time I punched them slowly, making sure I could hit them. What I didn't notice throughout this entire time, was that Allie, Akisame, Kenichi, and Takeda were all watching me. Allie was smiling proudly. After about a half hour more, Sakaki finally put down the mitts and called it a day for us. I sighed a breath of relief. Kenichi ran over to me.
"Great job, Haley! You made it through the first day!" he said. I smiled, exhausted.
"Yeah, I guess I did," I said. Allie walked over in her crutches.
"Allie! Why are you in crutches?" I yelled. Sakaki cleaned his ear.
"Why are you so loud? Shouldn't you be quiet after all the training you just did?" he asked. I ignored him.
"What happened to you Allie?" I asked, running over to her.
"Well, Ashley and I were sparring and she got a little carried away," Allie explained.
"A little? A little doesn't make you have to use crutches!" I said. Allie laughed. "Speaking of, where is Ashley? I thought I saw her come here earlier?" I put my hands on my hips and glanced at our surroundings.
"She had to go to school for a rehearsal that she forgot about," Takeda explained, appearing next to Kenichi. I nodded.
"Oh, okay."
"By the way, do either of you know when her next concert is?" Takeda asked. Kenichi smirked at him.
"Why do you want to know so badly, Takeda? Do you have a crush on her or something?" Kenichi asked. Takeda blushed.
"What? N-no! Why would you think that?" Takeda yelled. We all laughed. "What's so funny?" He looked at everyone, bewildered.
"It's nothing to be ashamed of, young man. From what I've seen, Ashley is a wonderful young woman," Akisame said. Sakaki laughed.
"Yeah, but be sure not to get on her bad side," he said. I glared at him slightly.
Yeah, you should know that more than anyone besides Allie and me.
Takeda laughed nervously and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Is-is it that obvious?" he asked. We all nodded out heads. He groaned and sank to the ground. Allie and I patted his back.
"Don't worry about it," Allie said.
"She's pretty much oblivious to any flirting," I said.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"Basically, she doesn't notice when someone is flirting with her. She just thinks that they are acting friendly," I explained. Allie nodded.
"It's true," she added. He sighed.
"So if I want her to notice me in a way other than friend," he trailed off.
"You'll have to be very straightforward about it," Allie and I said at the same time. He sighed again. Kenichi patted his back.
"No worries, Takeda. You'll be fine!" he said.
"It's easy for you to say! You don't have to basically confess to someone like Ashley!" Takeda yelled.
"What do you mean someone like Ashley?" I asked.
"Well, someone whose nice, cute, smart, great singer, great dancer, but can kick my butt if I make her angry," Takeda muttered. Allie and I looked at each other, bursting out laughing. Takeda glared at us.
"It's not funny!" he yelled. Allie and I placed a hand on either of his shoulders.
"Trust us," I said.
"As long as you're sincere about it, she won't laugh at you, hurt you, or anything in-between," Allie said.
"Besides, if you're that afraid of her, then don't bother liking her," I said.
"Haley!" Allie said, looking at me with shock. The others did as well.
"Haley, why would you say that?" Kenichi started to yell at me. I put my hand up to stop him.
"Let me rephrase that. If you are so afraid of speaking to her normally that she'll hurt you, then there would be no trust. I mean, sure she would trust you, but you wouldn't trust her. And without trust, a relationship kind of falls apart," I said. His eyes widened, then closed as he took in what I said. After a while he nodded.
"I understand. I think I'll wait a little longer before telling her. I mean, I want to get to know her better and build trust before I make any sudden moves," he said. Allie and I looked at each other and smiled.
"Okay, then we won't mention anything of this conversation to her to then," Allie said. Takeda looked up at us and smiled.
"Thanks guys," he said. Then laughing nervously added," So, when is her next concert?"
