Before reading this chapter, please read this short note as I would like as many possible people to be involved since it will help me ALOT. Since I'm having a very difficult time deciding what to do, I've decided to leave it down to all of you to vote on which scenarios you would rather have happen in the story and both are VERY different.
So after watching the Originals finale, I came to realise that it isn't long before I move this story onto the Originals story line, which brings up Klaus' new baby Hope. ( The finale was amazing btw and I urge everyone to watch it ASAP!) Then I thought about it longer and began to argue with myself whether I should have Hayley be the mother of Klaus' child in my fanfiction, or if it should be Eliza. Since I can't decide, I'm desperate to know what all my readers think I should do since both options will fit perfectly well into the story...
Who should be the mother of Klaus' child in my fanfiction?
Hayley?
or Eliza?
Please leave your answer as a review, I have to EXTREMELY thank anyone who does decide to vote since they will be helping me out a lot! Now that's over and done with, on with the chapter...
Mikaelson Ball
Elijah left once revealing that the ball had started and Eliza glanced at herself in the mirror again; smoothing down her now slightly crumpled dress and fixing a single stray piece of hair that had fallen out of place. While doing this, she felt a pair of comforting and familiar arms wrap themselves around her waist from behind and she smiled as Klaus' face appeared in the mirror resting on her shoulder.
" That dress looks ravishing on you, my dearest Eliza," Klaus whispered softly into her ear, lightly twisting her around so that she was facing him. Placing her arms around his neck, Eliza smiled then looked down at his smart, tightly tailored tux.
" Well the dress is stunning and I see you made sure your suit match." Eliza stated, grimacing as she saw that the handkerchief in his right pocket was a matching blue instead of the typical pure white.
" It's only polite to let people know that you're mine, just so they don't get confused. My brother is one that needs to comprehend this," Klaus said, his eyes locked on her possessively while placing a short yet meaningful kiss on her lips.
" Elijah, is being a gentlemen. He saved me Nik, if you haven't already forgotten. Hasn't he already said before that he's merely welcoming me into the family?" Eliza said with a small frown, slightly confused to why Klaus was so set on believing that Elijah's affection for her were more than family.
" I still do not trust any of them sweetheart. I have seen Elijah fall in love before, we have loved the same girl before after all. His admiration for you is obviously growing," Klaus explained with a slightly bitter edge to his voice.
" I'm always going to be yours Nik. Nobody will change that. Why are you worrying so much about this?"
" Because you are mine Eliza Petrova and I will love you for all eternity. Nobody will steal you from me. I do not like competition," Klaus stated, brushing her hair away from her beautiful face.
" I love you too, Niklaus Mikaelson." Eliza said, before pulling away from their now extremely close embrace and leading him towards the door that lead into the hallway. " Now lets go get this ball out of the way... I hate dancing,"
" You never seemed to dislike it back in the 20's, love?" Klaus said with a confused frown.
" Only because it was with you," Eliza answered.
With an affectionate smile, Klaus hooked his arm around hers and lead her down the grand staircase. Many people from all over town were gathered around the ground floor of the house and classical piano music was playing smoothly in the background. A few heads turned towards the couple gradually coming down the staircase and many unknown men seemed awed by the beauty of Eliza Petrova. Klaus' smirk grew as he noticed this and he suddenly felt proud to have her by his side; though he obviously liked her being by his side, he'd never felt proud enough of the achievement of actually being loved by a pure, beautiful girl like Eliza Petrova. What did slightly annoy Klaus though, was that Elijah was staring at Eliza constantly as he lead her down the stairs and Eliza was smiling at him - the same loving smile she usually only gave him. This angered Klaus, a lot.
" Eliza," Once the pair reached the bottom of the stairs, they were instantly stopped by Stefan Salvatore who blocked their path with a straight and expressionless look upon his face. For a moment, Eliza just stared at him; searching his eyes to see what his true aim was. After all she hadn't spoken to him since the night when the Mikaelsons were resurrected and Stefan had left unwillingly and looking rather guilty. " I see you're still alive,"
" No thanks to you," Eliza replied coldly, gripping onto Klaus' arm harder while he silently stood by her side, watching the two carefully.
" I know that we've... had our differences for the past couple of weeks... but can I talk to you?" Stefan questioned, his demeanor still not revealing any of his true intentions. " Alone?" Stefan turned to glare at Klaus as he said this.
" Our differences? You tried to kill me Stefan. What's stopping you from doing that again?" Though she was beginning to feel rather annoyed, Eliza still kept her voice low so that it wouldn't draw attention from the guests around them. Esther would surely be angry if Eliza disrupted the party she'd organised.
" Look, I don't want to argue or fight. I just want to talk," Stefan stated calmly, setting his eyes firmly back on Eliza - his former best friend.
" I can't right now," Eliza huffed in annoyance. " Maybe later," As soon as she said this, Klaus led her off impatiently back towards the staircase they had just walked down together. He looked slightly annoyed, but this didn't worry Eliza as it seemed everyone made Klaus annoyed nowadays.
" You are not speaking with him alone Eliza," Klaus stated firmly, his voice low and deadly. Rolling her eyes, Eliza folded her arms across her chest in defiance.
" Why is it that you so suddenly believe that everyone is out to kill me?" Eliza questioned, narrowing her eyes. She was not in the best of moods already since this ball would no doubt create more trouble in her already crowded mind. The list of things that she had to worry about was endless and right now Klaus was only making things worse. Though she wasn't fully annoyed with him, she wanted to understand why he had grown so protective - too protective - of her.
" If you haven't noticed, sweetheart, my dear brother Kol is still angry about being in a box for the last century and your dear friend Stefan tried to kill you little under a week ago. Can you blame me for worrying?" Klaus replied.
" Kol is only trying to mess with you Nik, he knows how to annoy you and Stefan wouldn't dare attempt to do that again when he knows he has nothing against you to stop you from killing him. I do wonder how you're even going to let me speak to your mother alone tonight when you're this overly paranoid," A frown instantly formed on Klaus' face as Eliza spoke and Eliza pursed her lips as she prepared for Klaus' outburst.
" Why are you speaking to my mother alone tonight?" Klaus asked after only a few seconds of deep thought.
" Elijah told me earlier in our room that she wished to speak with me," Eliza replied simply, shrugging her shoulders.
" Why alone?"
" I don't know. That's all Elijah told me," Eliza responded truthfully. Klaus expression grew more impatient as he, yet again, stayed completely silent for another few moments, staring at Eliza with blank eyes. However, they were both interrupted by Elijah, who was standing in the middle of the staircase looking down upon everyone, tapping his glass to gain everyone's attention. Without another word, Klaus led Eliza softly up to stand where the rest of his family were. It was only then that Eliza noticed how the rest of the Originals looked like they were from a James Bond movie dressed in tuxedos and Rebekah in her very expensive dress.
" Welcome! Thank you for joining us." Elijah announced to everyone with a welcoming smile upon his face. " You know, whenever our mother decides to bring our family together like this, it is customary for us to begin the evening with a dance. Tonights pick is a centurys old waltz, so if you would all like to get yourself a partner and join us in the ballroom," While Elijah spoke, Eliza looked around at the guests below and her eyes locked on Elena for a second who was stood by the Salvatore brothers, wearing a very beautiful ball gown. The two girls smiled at each other politely, before Klaus led Eliza back down the stairs.
" Would you care to be my dance partner?" Klaus asked her formally, setting their annoyances aside for a way he asked reminded her greatly of their time together in Gloria's bar in the 20's.
" Oh, I don't know. I might wait for someone much more charming to whisk me away," Eliza teased confidently, her smile growing as a smirk formed on Klaus' face.
" Too bad you're already mine," Klaus carried on teasing while locking an arm firmly around her waist and leading her through into the ballroom where many partners were beginning to dance. Though they had laid there argument aside for the moment, this didn't stop the worries of it from spinning around in Eliza's mind as she prepared to dance. Looking up and gazing into Klaus' eyes, the music started and the two elegantly began to waltz in time to the classical music.
" You're not such a bad dancer, Mr Mikaelson," Eliza commented, her eyes never straying from Klaus'.
" I'm afraid I can't say the same about you, Miss Petrova," Klaus smirked and Eliza almost broke away from the dance to hit him playfully, but she carried on dancing and instead laughed the teasing off. For another few minutes, they danced in silence, drifting away in their own isolated bubble. However, this was interrupted as Klaus bent low to whisper in her ear.
" Make sure you find me after the dance before you go speak to my mother," Klaus said, before he elegantly spun her around under his arm and drifted off to another dance partner. Eliza was confused for a split second, before she found herself in another pair of arms. Smirking down at her, Kol placed his hands around Eliza's waist and began to dance with her.
" Hello my lovely," Kol greeted her cheerfully, staring down at her with mischievous eyes.
" Hello Kol," Eliza greeted him with little enthusiasm, causing Kol to fake a look of hurt.
" You are the only girl in this room who does not wish to dance with me, why is that?" Eliza let out a sarcastic laugh.
" It could never be because you wanted to kill me and... do other things with me yesterday,"
" Sarcastic. I like it, though you are one to hold a grudge. I thought you believed I only said those things to annoy Nik? Or that it what you told him..."
" That's what I hope, not what I believe. Do tell me if what I said to Nik was correct," Eliza said.
" I guess you'll never know. But, believe it or not, I do actually wish to be friends with you darling. After all, Nik certainly is wrapped around your little finger so you're no doubt going to be apart of this family for a very long time," Kol commented.
" What makes you believe I'm actually going to be friends with you?"
" Considering I am, of course, Nik's younger brother and a little birdy told me that you were worried that Nik's family were going to dislike you. I cannot understand why you wouldn't want to be friends with me?"
" You haven't even apologised for your outrageous behaviour yet, that's why."
" If an apology is all it takes, then I am deeply sorry for anything I did to harm or hurt you physically or emotionally in any way Eliza," Kol said, sounding very sincere and Eliza laughed at his new formal tone.
" You are surprisingly good at apologies. Maybe we could be friends Kol,"
" Oh, word of warning darling. Nik has been glaring at us this whole time," Kol announced to her, causing Eliza's attention to snap towards Klaus who was moving away from his latest dance partner to Caroline Forbes, one of Elena's friends that Eliza hadn't properly been introduced to yet. While she was occupied with examining Caroline's dress, which looked extremely familiar, none other than Elijah Mikaelson took Kol's place as her dance partner.
" He gave her one of my dresses," Eliza growled under her breath, not properly acknowledging Elijah who was now staring down at her with his enigmatic brown eyes.
" What is bothering you, Eliza?" Elijah asked her with a small frown, noticing that her gaze was locked on Klaus and Caroline.
" Nik... he gave Caroline Forbes one of my dresses. Caroline Forbes of all people!" Eliza exclaimed, annoyance laced in her voice. Though it seemed stupid to be mad at Klaus for this, it greatly annoyed her that he had leant one of her dresses - that he'd bought her in the 20's - to Caroline without even asking her. She looked insanely beautiful in it and ever since Klaus had moved to dance with Caroline, his attention had not diverted to Eliza at all. It was petty, stupid and very immature of her to be annoyed at this, but she couldn't ignore the bubbling jealous she felt.
" I'm sure my brother has a reason for doing so, however I do not understand why he wouldn't have told you," Elijah replied, staring down at Eliza curiously and trying to decipher what she was annoyed about.
" God only knows..." Eliza muttered under her breath. A few seconds of silence followed this as Eliza contemplated this for a moment before she looked back up at Elijah again with a determined look on her face. " I need your help Elijah and now that Nik's attention is on Caroline this would be the perfect time,"
" What do you need me to do?" Elijah asked immediately, not even hesitating to contemplate whether he wanted to help or not.
" When I told Nik that your mother wished to speak to me... he didn't seem too pleased. While we were dancing he told me to come back to him before I spoke with your mother but only now did I realise that he's obviously not going to let me go since he's become insanely paranoid that everyone is out to kill me... So I need you to tell show me where Esther wishes to speak with me, I want to find out what she's up to so that I can protect Nik," Eliza explained and Elijah nodded once, before silently leading her away from the dance and back into the main entrance where he led her swiftly up the staircase.
" So you believe, like I, that my mothers intentions aren't what she says?" Elijah questioned softly, holding onto her arm and leading her right down the long hallway. Though Eliza had been practically living her for little under a month, she still didn't know her whole way around the mansion; it was like a maze.
" I trust your judgement Elijah. You know your mother better than I do and if there's even a chance that she wishes to harm her family then I want to be able to help," Eliza answered.
" As always your selflessness is astounding," Elijah commented just as Eliza spotted Elena at the end of the corridor, waiting outside a room that Eliza had never been in before.
" What are you doing her Eliza?" Elena asked politely as Eliza stood at the opposite end of the corridor facing her.
" I will meet you downstairs once you have finished, no doubt Niklaus will be there too demanding to know where you are," Elijah said, before departing swiftly back down the corridor, only once glancing back towards Eliza with worried eyes.
" Esther wants to speak with me too, do you know what this is about?"
" No, it just said in the invitation I got that she wanted to talk," Elena replied.
" Look Elena, I know we haven't had chance to talk much and I actually do want to be friends with you. You're the only family I actually have left and I am extremely sorry for any harm that Klaus or Rebekah have caused you and I feel partly responsible but, trust me, when I say that I have done everything to tru and keep you safe and I can promise that neither Nik or his siblings will bother you again... well I can try to promise," Eliza spoke very sincerely and Elena smiled back at her gratefully.
" Thank you Eliza. I really appreciate everything you've done and I'm sorry about what's Stefan's done to you, I'm surprised you haven't given up yet,"
" There's still hope. There's always hope," Eliza replied softly just as the door beside them both opened revealing Finn waiting patiently at the door.
" You are free to come in," Finn announced bluntly, opening the door wider to allow both Elena and Eliza to walk into the room. Like the rest of the mansion, this room was lavishly decorated with expensive furniture. In the center of the room, Esther sat with a table filled with strange objects in front of her. At the sound of Elena and Eliza entering the room, Esther turned with a smile upon her face. " You both came, wise choice," Instantly, Eliza caught sight of something burning in Esther hands and she frowned in confusion.
" It's only sage. I've spelled it so we can't be overheard while we talk," Esther explained casually. " You both must have a million questions for me, do sit." Following Esther's orders, Eliza sat down on the plush white sofa and Elena followed.
" How are you alive?" Elena asked once they were all sat down and Eliza held back a roll of her eyes as she heard Elena ask such a stupid question. " Are you a ghost or -?"
" Not exactly, when I died, the witch Iana preserved my body with a spell. She was a close friend of mine... and ancestor of your friend Bonnie," Esther replied.
" So that's why only Bonnie and her mother could open the casket?" Elena said.
" They complete the Bennett blood line, I drew power from them and their ancestors who were with me on the other side,"
" So you've been on the other side for a thousand years?" Elena asked with an almost horrified expression.
" It was natures way of punishing me for turning my family into vampires," Esther responded and this time she glanced at Eliza, before turning her attention back to Elena.
" But there is a way to undo the evil I have created," Esther suddenly announced and a deep frown appeared on Eliza's face.
" No," she hissed under her breath, glaring at Esther with menace. Elijah had been right all along; Esther had lied to Klaus about forgiving him.
" Your going to help us kill Klaus, aren't you?" Elena whispered, throwing a sympathetic glance at Eliza.
" You will not kill Niklaus," Eliza growled deeply this time, standing up angrily and holding herself back from attacking Esther. Sensing Eliza's anger, Finn raced over to her and locked her arms behind her back pulling her away from Esther. For a few moments she tried her hardest to release herself from his grip, but it was obviously no use.
" One thing at a time Elena," Esther carried on the conversation, once Eliza was away from her. " For now, I simply need help from the both of you,"
" If you think for one second that I am going to help you then you should go back and rot in hell like you're supposed to!" Eliza shouted angrily causing Finn to grip onto her more tightly creating pain for Eliza.
" Oh you will help Eliza," Esther spoke in the same calm tone. Elena stared at Esther for a moment before Esther stood up and began to light the candles she had out on a table. " I know that Rebekah has already told you, Elena, and Klaus has told you, Eliza, our past; how I upset the balance of nature by turning my family into vampires,"
" She said you did it to protect them from the werewolves," Elena said, standing up herself.
" That's true, but it no time at all the began to feed on human blood. They ravaged the town with no remorse. Eventually Niklaus turned against me," Esther said while picking up a dagger and brushing it down with a tissue.
" What did up expect, you bitch? For Nik to be happy that you turned him and his siblings into a monster? He already loathed his father and you did nothing to stop Mikael from beating him! Everything you did was for your own personal gain," Eliza shouted furiously as she cried out in pain again from Finn digging his nails into her arm - blood was now seeping from the wounds.
" Don't you dare speak to my mother like that," Finn growled in her ear.
" Enough Finn. The girl has every right to shout at me for my wrong doings, after all she is going to help us,"
" How are you planning to kill Klaus? He's a hybrid... he can't be killed..." Elena said.
" It will take time, magic and your's and Eliza's assistance," Esther explained.
" What do you need me to do?" Elena asked.
" Oh I only need your blood Elena, it's Eliza's assistance I need the most." Esther said.
" I will not help you," Eliza growled again, her jaw clenched tightly in anger.
" You see Elena, your blood is the first part to the ritual. My children believe I held this ball to acquaint myself with the town, when really it is part of a ritual where I will tie their lives to Eliza's in order to kill them all. You see, you are both descended from Tatia Petrova, the bloodline I used to change my children, so in order to kill them I need to use someone from their bloodline. But the witches only wish for me to kill vampires and not upset the balance of nature anymore by using humans, which is why Eliza is perfect for the job. After tying her life to the rest of my childrens, I will kill her in a specific ritual on the next full moon. Finn has already promised to keep me safe from Niklaus wrath and probably Elijah's too since his affections for Eliza have grown, meaning, Elena, that the only thing left that I need is your co-operation..."
Sorry I left you all on a cliff hanger, but it had to be done. Oooo Esther is out for revenge and she's going to use Eliza to do so. How do you think Klaus is going to react when he finds out about it? I seriously cannot wait to write the next few chapters! Please review and tell me what you think about this chapter and whether you like Elijahs 'growing affections' for Eliza. Thank you so much for reading! New updates will be posted soon.
