Esther's Plan

" Wait... you want to kill them all? But I thought you just meant - " Elena began, a worried frown forming on her face. For the moment, Eliza stood frozen in her place, fear striving through her body. It was difficult for her to comprehend what was happening - this couldn't be happening. Esther Mikaelson was insane; she was going to kill each of the Original children by linking them to Eliza and then killing Eliza. Klaus. Eliza had to warn Klaus. Hopefully - even though the chance was slight - he would manage to save he before Esther can preform the ritual, otherwise they'd all be dead. Every single one of them.

" Although Niklaus has been the worst of them all, my family are an abomination to nature and therefore need to be killed. Elijah is the least trusting of me out of them all, therefore he will need more convincing. Though I'm sure once Eliza tells the lie I will give you both, he will believe her," Esther said, glancing at a shocked and very angry Eliza.

" I will not lie to them you malevolent bitch!" Eliza screamed at her, rage taking over her body. For a while now, Eliza's fear has been that one day someone will manage to kill Klaus - without knowing, she'd been mentally preparing herself for when this time came. Now that it had arrived, all she could think about was how she was going to protect him against his mother. He couldn't die. But she also knew he wouldn't let her die either...

" If you do not comply, Eliza, I will only be forced to take what I need from you against your will. Either way, I will get what I want," Esther replied, not even wincing at the insult that Eliza threw at her. A thousand years on the other side must make you invincible...

" All I need is your blood Elena," Esther said, turning her attention back to the doppelganger and away from a struggling Eliza. " Just a drop, I promise. Then Eliza will drink from the cup I give her while I perform a spell and it's essence will be in each of my children's glasses when I make my customary toast,"

" Elena, please... Don't do this. I know you and your friends hate Nik... but I promise I will make him leave town, him and his family. None of them will bother you again... please, don't go through with this," Eliza begged, staring directly at Elena with sad and pleading eyes. For a few moments Elena stayed silent, staring at Eliza in deep contemplation. After everything Eliza had done for Elena, was it fair of Elena to betray her by killing her?

" I assure you Elena, if you do not comply I will have to take it from you by force. But, after all, the greatest thing that you want is for Niklaus to be dead... after all he's done to your friends and family," As Esther spoke, Elena was looking to be more and more convinced.

" Elena please... please..." Eliza begged again, but this time Elena didn't glance at her at all and instead took the long glove off that she was wearing.

" I'm sorry Eliza... but Klaus needs to die," Elena apologised quietly, allowing Esther to prick her finger and squeeze the blood from her wound into a cup sat in the middle of the coffee table.

" Thank you Elena," Eliza watched with wide eyes as Esther lifted the cup and performed a quick spell on it.

" You're supposed to be my family! After everything I've done for you, Elena, you betray me in this way!" Eliza shouted angrily with a few tears spilling from her eyes.

" You may leave Elena, you will not want to witness what I'm about to do to Eliza. Thank you for your co-operation." Esther said and Elena nodded once, before mouthing another 'I'm sorry' to Eliza. Eliza only glared in return before her fearful eyes again landed back on Esther.

" Now then. I see that you are not willing to co-operate, so Finn please make sure Eliza drinks this," Esther ordered and Finn nodded, for the first time letting go of Eliza. Seizing her first and only opportunity, Eliza sprinted towards the door as fast as she could but she almost instantly collapsed to the floor in pain, clutching her head tightly. Excruciating pain was now thriving through her brain and Eliza was reminded of the time where Gloria tortured her for information.

" Klaus!" Eliza screamed. She knew Klaus wouldn't be able to help her but she could only hope. " Klaus! Help me! Stop... please stop," The tears that she had been trying to hold back now freely run down her face but soon Esther complied and took away the pain from her head. Though, before she could try and escape again, Finn pinned her down to the floor and force fed her the blood from the cup.

" Now then. That wasn't so hard was it," Esther said. Eliza tried to stop the sweet tasting blood from running down her throat, but it didn't work. Her head was now pounding and she felt... different. " Now, time to perform a silencing spell on you since I know you take vervain, meaning my son cannot compel you," After saying this, Esther began to chant again and Eliza closed her eyes and gritted her teeth as she felt, yet again, more pain.

Something felt wrong. Klaus could feel it, but couldn't pinpoint what it was. But there was something. With a deep frown etched upon his face, Klaus began to search for a missing Eliza who had wondered off with Elijah while he was dancing with Caroline. It angered him that he had been too absorbed in making a new friend - so that things would run smoother and he would have less enemies in Mystic Falls - that he hadn't noticed Eliza's disappearance. Now something felt wrong and it would be his own fault if Eliza was in danger. After a few minutes of scanning the faces of the many guests to see if he could find Eliza, Klaus spotted Elijah talking to the Mayor. With an annoyed expression, Klaus stormed over to him.

" Brother... A word please," Klaus asked in a low tone, trying to make it sound polite so the mayor wouldn't suspect anything. Elijah turned to him with a calm expression as if he had done nothing wrong.

" Excuse me Carol," Elijah said to the Mayor politely, before following Klaus to a more quieter area of the house where they could talk freely.

" Where is she Elijah? Please don't tell me you let her wander off and speak to our mother alone!" Klaus growled angrily, knowing already what Elijah had done.

" It was Eliza's choice, brother, and she wishes to discover what our mother is planning against us so she can protect you." Elijah replied in a lower tone than normal, indicating that he too was slightly annoyed.

" I don't need protecting! It is she who does. If mother is planning something against us then what is stopping her from harming Eliza," Klaus clenched his fists.

" I wouldn't have let her go alone if I knew she was in danger Niklaus. Elena is in their with her and has promised to explain everything that Mother has said to them both," Elijah said.

" Oh of course, I almost forgot that you have suddenly had growing affections towards my girl. Then again, if you affections are as strong as I can see, then I highly doubt you should have let her speak to mother alone!"

" I let Eliza make her own choice Niklaus and she has chosen to protect you. If you were so set on keeping her safe and away from mother then why did you become so utterly absorbed in Caroline Forbes to not notice that she was missing with me?"

" I was trying to make friends with at least one person in this town so that I would have less enemies, meaning less people wanting to kill Eliza!" Klaus retorted, though their voices weren't particularly raised high enough for everyone to hear the argument, the conversation was still heated.

" Eliza noticed immediately that it was one of her own dresses that Caroline Forbes was wearing tonight, Niklaus. She wasn't best pleased when she realised which is what, I believe, drove her to go speak to mother alone against your will. Maybe you should have thought harder about the consequences before giving another woman Eliza's dress without permission,"

" It was a kind gesture which I will explain to Eliza later. Now where is she speaking with mother, I will find her and put a stop to all of this," Klaus growled.

" I will come with you. Follow me," Elijah replied, swiftly leading Klaus towards the room which Eliza and Esther were speaking in. Hard and angry expressions featured on both of the brothers faces as they walked, without glancing at anyone else, towards their destination. Just before they reached the door, the two spotted Elena walking back down the corridor with a distressed and nervous expression. In a flash of anger, Klaus pinned Elena against the wall with a demanding expression upon her face. Elena gasped in fear and distress.

" Where is Eliza?" Klaus growled before Elijah pulled Klaus away from Elena forcefully.

" Leave the girl alone Niklaus, she has nothing to do with this," Elijah ordered.

" She's still in the room speaking to Esther," Elena replied simply, but her eyes were filled with fear which Klaus could easily see. Something was wrong.

" What did you speak with my mother about?" Elijah questioned, his eyes narrowing as he examined Elena. For a moment, Eliza nervously hesitated knowing that the brothers were most likely not going to believe her.

" She just wanted to introduce herself privately since she knows I'm friends with many of the supernatural in this town. She also spoke to me about Tatia," Elena replied smoothly, looking directly at Elijah and ignoring Klaus.

" The girl is obviously lying Elijah!" Klaus said, rolling his eyes but Elijah held up a hand to silence him.

" What did my mother speak to Eliza about?" Elijah questioned further.

" She... asked about hers and Klaus' relationship and told her about Tatia again and said she wanted to get to know her better since she was apart of their family," Elena replied, desperately hoping that the story Esther would force Eliza to tell them would be similar. Though Esther's aim was to kill the Originals, Elena knew that if she didn't follow Esther's orders then Esther would attempt to kill either herself or someone she loved.

" You can't seriously believe the girl Elijah?" Klaus said distrustfully, glaring at Elena with menace in his eyes. Again he could feel that something was not right.

" I trust her brother and if what Eliza tells us is the same then we know that my instincts were correct." Elijah said, turning to his brother. " You are free to leave Elena,"

" How foolish of you Elijah! It was you who believed in the first place that mother was planning against us! Now your going from the word of a girl who obviously hates me?" Klaus growled.

" Niklaus you are only paranoid that someone is out to kill Eliza! I trust Elena and if she has somewhat lied to us then I will take matters into my own hands," Elijah responded.

" If - and I fear that I will - find out that Elena has decieved us, brother, then I will not hesitate in killing off a handful of her loved ones. All that matters to me is Eliza and if she is in danger then I will do anything to protect her," Klaus stated firmly, his voice sounding deadly and menacing.

" If Eliza is in danger then I will stand by your side Niklaus, but if Mother is planning anything it will be to kill us rather than her," Elijah said, but before Klaus could reply, a door opening interrupted them both. Eliza - looking strangely blank and cool - appeared at the doorway with Finn behind her; her face held an emotionless expression and her eyes seemed almost lost.

" Eliza," Klaus said, running to her side and blocking her away from Finn. " What happened?"

" What has gotten you so angry Niklaus?" Finn questioned with an almost mocking look.

" Oh stop being so paranoid Nik. Your mother just wanted to welcome me into the family and she didn't want interruption since she knew you still don't trust her," Eliza replied after a few moments of silence, some of the light finally returning to her eyes but still, Klaus could tell, something was wrong.

" Why was Finn in their with you?" Klaus questioned, his eyes narrowing in disbelief.

" Finn is close with your mother and he wanted to get away from the party. I barely saw him the whole time I was in their," Eliza replied smoothly. With an uncertain look on his face, Klaus took hold of Eliza's hand to calm himself down but in the process he noticed strange marks on her skin.

" What are these marks?" He practically growled, glaring at Finn in accusation.

" Oh... I was a little nervous before I went in and I gripped my hand a little too hard. I'm not use to having false nails on and I ended up cutting myself. Nothing major, I healed pretty quickly," Eliza responded in the same calm tone. Klaus stayed silent for a moment, searching Eliza's face to look for any signs of her lying or being compelled.

" Has anyone compelled you?" Klaus questioned, staring directly into her eyes to compel her.

" I drink vervain Nik, I can't be compelled, you know that. I've been drinking it since you killed Mikael," Eliza said, rolling her eyes and turning to Elijah. " Did you speak to Elena?"

" Yes, she confirmed what you have said," Elijah said with a small nod. Brightly, Eliza smiled at him before moving closer to Klaus' body. Klaus' skin tingled at the small touch and he felt himself oddly calm a little.

" Well come on then, your mother is about to perform the toast," Eliza said, pulling Klaus back down the corridor towards the main room where most of the guests were standing in. Klaus' mind was spinning with thoughts of what could have happened but he hid this from Eliza, wrapping his arm around her waist and standing with her on the staircase. Elijah, too, took a place by her side and his eyes were lingering suspiciously on Elena.

" Good evening ladies and Gentlemen," Esther announced herself, tapping her glass to gain everyone's attention. She stood on the opposite staircase to Klaus, Eliza and Elijah with her eyes flitting over the guests. " Waiters are coming round with champagne. I invite you all to join me in raising a glass," With a fake smile upon his face, Klaus took two glasses from the waiter and handed one to Eliza. All Eliza could think was, lies. " Cheers," She wanted - and was trying to force - her body to knock the glass from Klaus' hand so he didn't drink, but she couldn't and soon she found herself drinking like everyone else. That's when the coughing and pain started.

" Eliza?" Klaus said worriedly, his hand gripping tighter to her body as he saw the coughing overtaking her. Quickly, he led her up the stairs and away from everyone else without too many people noticing. Once they reached the nearest bathroom, Eliza collapsed next to the toilet and held her head over it, coughing over it as if she was going to be sick. Anxiously, Klaus held her hair back for her and rubbed her back comfortingly, wanting to know what had happened to her. After a few more coughs, blood spilled from Eliza's mouth and she threw up blood into the toilet before pulling away from the toilet and breathing heavily on the floor, the blood still trickling from her lips.

" What happened?" Klaus growled worriedly, grabbing a towel and wiping the blood away from her lips. That was the moment when Elijah burst through the door with a deep frown on his face, his eyes widening when he saw the scene in front of him.

" What happened?" Elijah asked, his tone mimicking Klaus'. Eliza stayed silent for a moment, moving closer to Klaus for comfort. Desperately, she wanted to tell them that it happened because she was now linked to all of them, but Esther had placed a spell on her to force her to lie about it.

" Vervain," Eliza gasped, coughing a little again. Her throat now felt as if it was burning and Klaus' face filled with anger.

" Who put it in your drink?" He asked but before Eliza could answer, Elijah spoke first.

" It would take a lot of vervain to make you throw up like that, who would even dare and why didn't you smell it Nikaus?" Elijah asked, his eyes narrowing in slight disbelief.

" I-I don't know but my throats burning... blood," Eliza gasped again, clutching onto her throat which was painfully burning with thirst.

" Here sweetheart," Klaus immediately offered his wrist to her and, without hesitating, Eliza fed from him. Elijah held back a deep frown as he watched this and Klaus couldn't help but smirk up at him. Once she was done feeding, Klaus helped Eliza back up onto her feet and she quickly checked her dress to see if any blood had got on it.

" Niklaus I beg you not to go after the person who did this as you do not want to disrupt the party anymore," Elijah ordered in a very authoritative tone as he took in Klaus' expression.

" They hurt Eliza, brother," Klaus growled, trying to push his way past Elijah with Eliza in his arms.

" No more fighting tonight Nik," Eliza found herself telling him, even though all she really wanted was for him to kill his mother - yesterday she would never have wanted that since Esther is Klaus' mother, but now she loathed the woman so much for what she soon was going to do.

" Ok," Klaus agreed before leading her back out of the bathroom and down back to the party. Both Elijah and Klaus stayed by her side for the rest of the night in order to try and protect her. However, this didn't help at all. Eliza knew what was soon going to happen and she couldn't tell them. It was killing her not been able to tell them. She wanted to save Klaus. But she couldn't. Soon they would both be dead...

Thank you for all the reviews on who should be the mother of Klaus' child! Because I'm very secretive I'm not actually going to reveal who is the mother until the witches actually inform Klaus in New Orleans. You may get a little confused to who I've decided ;) anyways, hope you enjoyed this chapter! Please review and tell me what you think about the Kliza and Elzah (Elijah+Eliza's new shipname) moments and what you think about Elena's betrayal. Thank you so much for reading and thank you for the continued support!
