The ride home was rather dull. Ashley stared outside with her eyes droopy and body limb. She sighed, slouched down in her seat, and closed her eyes.
I wonder what Koryou High will be like? Sigh, I don't know why I'm getting nervous. It's not like I'm transferring there, we're just exchanging places with people there for a while so we can see what a normal school is like and so they can see what ours is like. Ashley thought. Then the image of a certain blue haired boxed came into her mind and a blush formed on her cheeks. She opened her eyes, sat up, and put both hands on her cheeks.
"What is wrong with me? Why am I thinking of him and getting flustered? This isn't like me, what's going on?" Ashley muttered. She saw her door open quickly and she jumped.
"Ashley? We are here," the driver said. Slowly Ashley nodded and got out of the car. She was about to walk to the dojo when her driver stopped her. "Ashley, aren't you forgetting something?" She looked back and saw that her backpack was still on the seat.
"Oops!" she said, running to the door and quickly grabbing her backpack. Yet again his face appeared and she banged her head on ceiling of the limo. "Ow." She held her head as she backed away from the door.
"Are you okay
"Ashley?" he asked. Ashley nodded while laughing.
"Yeah, it's just me being clumsy," she said. He nodded and went into the car and drove away. Ashley sighed when the car was out of view. She looked up at the sky in wonder.
What is going on with me all of a sudden? I mean, Takeda and I are friends right? So why does his mere image make my face go hot and I forget things easily? She thought then sighed.
"Whatever," she muttered and slung her backpack over her shoulder. "Maybe these weird feelings will disappear after I get some sleep tonight." She opened the door to the dojo and stepped inside.
"Hey everybody I'm home!" she yelled. Allie limped into the room.
"Hey Ash, welcome back. How was school?" she asked. Ashley shrugged her shoulders.
"It was okay. Apparently we've got a new exchange program going on and I signed up for it today. In a few weeks I'll be going to Koryou High with a few other people from my school to see what a normal high school looks like," Ashley said.
"Isn't that the school Haley graduated from?" Allie asked. Ashley nodded. "Cool, then you'll get to see first hand how she went to school, at least for a little while."
"Yeah, it'll be an interesting experience," Ashley said. "Speaking of Haley, has she come home yet? Or is she still training?" Ashley asked. Before Allie could answer, the phone rang.
"I'll get it," Allie said, quickly limping over to the phone while Ashley just shook her head at Allie's eagerness.
"What, are you waiting for a call from your Akisame?" Ashley asked, smirking at Allie. Allie glared back at her and stuck out her tongue.
"No, and he's not my Akisame anyway," Allie said. Ashley laughed.
"Whatever floats your boat Al," Ashley said. Allie muttered something then answered the phone.
"Hello?" she asked. She went through a series of yeses and no's before she hung up. "Okay, we'll be there in a bit." She placed the phone back on the receiver and turned to Ashley.
"So?" Ashley asked.
"That was Akisame. He asked to see if we wanted to eat dinner by them tonight and I accepted," Allie explained.
"Oh, okay. Just let me drop my stuff off at my room. I'll be back down in a few minutes," she said. Allie nodded and Ashley went upstairs. She opened the door to her room, took one quick look at her room and screamed.
"What the hell?" she dropped her bag to the floor and slowly walked around her room. The full length mirror next to her dresser shattered and the remains of the glass were scattered across the floor in front of it. The dresser next to it had various carvings that were not there that morning. The clothes that were supposed to be in her dresser were tossed around the room: some torn, some wrinkled, and some were shredded completely. The area next to her bed and just under her window, which was broken, had several huge, thick stones that were painted red, black, and blue. Ashley looked to the wall opposite her bed and gasped at the words painted on it: One will be black, one will be blue. The rest will be red when I'm done with you.
"Wha-what does that mean? Who the hell wrote that?" she whispered as she fell back onto her bed and scooted back to the headboard. She screamed again as she felt something touch her back. She yanked it away and saw the teddy bear she received from Allie a while ago. On its face was a picture of a man tapped to it. For some reason, the picture of this man made fear curdle in her stomach until she had to throw the bear across the room and put her hands on her head.
"I heard screaming, what's wrong?" Allie asked as she limped to the doorway. Ashley glanced at her then looked around the room once more, getting a terrifying chill as she did so. "What the?"
"What's going on?" Ashley muttered. "Is someone coming after me? Why do I feel unbearable terror when I see that man's face. I don't even know him!" Allie walked over to the teddy bear and looked at the picture. Her eyes grew big and slowly went back and forth between two emotions: anger and fear.
"What's he doing here? I thought he was sentenced to life without parole," Allie muttered. Ashley raised her head a little.
"Allie? What are you talking about? Who is that man?" she asked. Allie didn't respond and Ashley stood up and walked over to Allie's side. "Al?" Allie sighed and took the picture off the bear and tossed the bear back onto the bed.
"Ash, there's something we need to talk about. Get ready and we'll talk about it on the way to Ryozanpaku," Allie said. Ashley looked at her strange but Allie didn't say another word and just walked out of the room with the picture in her hand, crumpled up in her fist.
