Revenge

" Ah, finally! I was beginning to think I'd have to wait all day!" Klaus exclaimed in fake happiness, his signature smirk growing on his red lips. He'd waited for a few hours for Damon, Elena, Stefan and Jeremy to wake up from the unconscious state he'd put them in, and during his impatient waiting he'd smartly tied them all to chairs so they had no chance of escape; Elena sat next to Klaus, Stefan, Damon and Jeremy sat opposite her. Everything was perfectly planned out and ready to begin and Klaus was eager to see their expressions and watch them suffer. They all deserved it.

Stefan was the first to awaken and it took him a few moments to realise that he was tied to a chair. With a deep frown on his face, he looked up to see Klaus standing next to an awaking Elena. Immediately, Stefan could tell that Klaus was planning something since the empty, devil-like look in his eyes was practically visible from a mile away. Next to awaken was Damon, who had a very different reaction than Stefan as he immediately began to struggle to break free from the vervained ropes wrapped around his wrist. Unlike Stefan, he hadn't fully realised what was going on.

" What the hell?" Damon growled in anger, looking around in confusion. Klaus chuckled at Damon's reaction; an almost demented laugh that sounded nothing like Klaus' true, cheerful laugh that only Eliza could make him do.

" Good of you to join us Damon. I was beginning to think I'd accidentally killed you before all of the fun!" Klaus said, causing Damon's head to snap up and glare at him hatefully. Damon and Stefan had always been completely opposite brothers, meaning that Damon didn't seem to notice how Klaus had changed in a matter of hours - Damon only saw him as the same monster he'd seen since he'd first met Klaus. However, Stefan spotted how different he was without Eliza; he knew that Klaus wasn't planning anything good.

" What the hell are you doing? Let us all go now. You owe us for saving your messed up family from your psychotic mother!" Damon ordered in annoyance, his eyes landing on Elena who was beginning to groan slightly as her eyes fluttered open. In fact, Klaus' smirk grew even more as he spotted the way the two brothers both looked at Elena with worried eyes. Only now was he beginning to feel proud of this plan.

" D-Damon...?" Elena whispered as a weak frown formed on her face. Maliciously, Klaus watched as Elena and Damon locked eyes and Damon seemed to project this aura of worry around him, panicking Elena. " Where am I?"

" Ah, my least favourite doppelganger! Good, your awake. We'll begin soon, so be patient," Elena's frown deepened as she looked up at Klaus with frightful eyes, knowing in the back of her mind what he was preparing to do.

" What's starting?" Elena asked, her voice yet not filled with it's usual strength, instead it sounded groggy and tired.

" My revenge, obviously. Here I was thinking you were smarter than that, love," Klaus said, putting a fake smile on his face. He was already beginning to enjoy himself and the fun hadn't even properly started yet. Panic seemed to fill the room as Klaus said this which only lifted Klaus' mood. It was becoming easier and easier for him to hide this empty, broken feeling that now consumed him. If murder is what took the pain away for a while then Klaus would have no problem with committing it - human and vampire life meant nothing to him. Nothing meant anything to him anymore.

" Jeremy... Jeremy! Please tell me he's not dead!" Elena suddenly shouted, her eyes landing on Jeremy's unconscious figure. The ring on his finger wasn't visible from where she was sat.

" Why would I kill him quickly when it would hurt you so much more to kill him slowly, love?" Klaus said and Elena was only now beginning to notice the new, devil-like side in Klaus. She thought he couldn't get any worse, but without Eliza he was a true demon from hell.

" No... No not Jeremy... He has nothing to do with this Klaus! Let him go!" Elena ordered frantically, her eyes widening in fear at the thought of letting her only living family die. Like Eliza, Elena always attempted to put her family before herself.

" He doesn't have to be a part of it love... You see it's all down to your choice," Klaus said, for the first time revealing a little of his plan.

" Oh great he's getting revenge because his psychotic mother killed his little bitch, Eliza, who followed him round like a lost puppy," Damon realised, rolling his eyes as he spoke. Only Stefan managed to notice Klaus physically flinch at the sound of her name being spoken. But Damon soon realised he'd hit a nerve when a wooden dart came flying towards him, hitting the middle of his chest, only a few centimeters away from his heart. Gasping in pain, Damon looked down at the dart and, again, attempted to break free from the ropes binding his hands to pull it out. Yet again, he failed miserably.

" Don't you dare speak her name again. I have a whole stock of those to use at my pleasure," Klaus growled threateningly, his eyes turning dark and livid.

" Why do you have us here?" Stefan spoke calmly, unlike the other two and he watched Klaus carefully.

" Well, if you haven't already noticed mate, you and your little friends aided my mother and failed to reveal her plan and your brother here also helped my father. Both of them were trying to kill me therefore I decided it was time that I got some of my own revenge," Klaus said, rather sarcastically, pushing the anger away from his body again. He couldn't - wouldn't - let Damon or Stefan see how much he was affected by her death, since they would no doubt use it against him in some way.

" Oh please. You got your revenge when you killed Elena and used her as a human blood bag. Now let us go before our witchy friend comes to kill your hybrid ass. Anyways you might want to use Bon-Bon to try and get your stupid girlfriend back," Damon snapped, but Klaus only chuckled darkly at his attempt to convince Klaus to free them. It was truly pathetic.

" Oh I think your 'witchy friend' won't be coming any time soon, Damon. You see, she's a little too preoccupied aiding her new vampire mother to care about coming to save you," Klaus announced and Damon opened his mouth to speak again, before closing it and clenching his jaw angrily.

" Caroline... I was with her before you... what have you done to her?" Elena questioned, shifting uncomfortably in her chair.

" Oh she's taking a little time out. But since she wasn't completely involved with my mothers plans, I leave her out of mine. Just this once," Klaus answered, tilting his head to the side and smirking as he looked at the three people he loathed. " Now, let us begin. Shall we?"

" Begin what, exactly?" Stefan still didn't seem phased by the plan at all and it was beginning to greatly annoy Klaus. But Klaus knew that Stefan knew his weaknesses, and though Stefan had momentarily come out of his dark phases for the past few days, he still hated Klaus.

" Well since Elena, here, is the sole reason why my mother half succeeded in my plan, I decided I take my revenge out on her," Klaus announced with a deadly smirk.

" If you touch her, I will end you," Damon growled instantly, protection taking over his body, just like what use to happen to Klaus when Eliza was in danger. Slightly jealous, Stefan stared at his brother in shock and Elena was looking down at her feet worriedly. However, again, Klaus only laughed.

" So protective, Damon. But don't worry, my plan isn't to kill your precious Elena since she is, after all, my human blood bag as you put it so nicely. In fact, I think it's going to be the opposite way round. Since Elena, here, forced me to watch the only person I've ever cared about die... I thought doing the same to her would be a fair enough payback," Klaus revealed, looking down at Elena with devilish eyes as he saw her face fill with misery and fright.

" No..." Was all she whispered, her eyes shooting from Damon to Stefan, them Jeremy. At discovering the revelation, Elena attempted to free herself from the ropes yet again but they were tied around her wrist and waist, meaning that she couldn't move even a single inch. She was stuck.

" But then I realised, that she not only is hopelessly in love with Stefan... but his brother as well. So, I decided to at least be kind and let her choose which one of you she will save. Oh and of course little Jeremy here is in the running's as well. You can only save one Elena," Klaus told her, circling around her chair and watching each of her reactions as he spoke.

" No... No please don't do this Klaus... I beg you," Elena said, looking up at Klaus with pleading eyes. Instantly, Klaus looked away as he didn't want to be reminded in any way of her. Tears were now running swiftly down Elena's cheeks and Klaus moved to stand behind her, looking back and forth between Damon and Stefan.

" Tick tock love... Although, you could always pick the cowardly ' I can't choose' option... but then I get to decide who dies, and I don't think you'll be too fond of my choice," Klaus chuckled. Damon was now glaring hatefully at Klaus as he knew that, if it came to Klaus' choice - which it no doubt would -, then Damon would be the first person Klaus would kill. Despite all of the commotion, Stefan didn't look too phased by everything, besides the worry in his eyes, and his blank expression still remained.

" Please... I'm sorry, I never wanted this to happen! I didn't want her to die... Esther would have made me do it anyway! I never wanted Eliza to die!" Again, Klaus flinched at the sound of her name and he gripped the chair Elena was sitting on tightly. A slight cracking sound echoed around the room as part of Elena's wooden chair snapped and Stefan instantly noticed Klaus' eyes darken once again.

" She wouldn't have wanted this Klaus," Stefan, unlike Damon, only chose to speak at the right time, and this was definitely the right time. His words, like Elijah's, caused him to freeze instantly and his eyes began to look icy and lost, just like before he'd kidnapped the three of them. " Elena is Eliza's family. I was Eliza's family for at least half a century... She wouldn't want us dead. Eliza is not gone yet Klaus and if she finds out you've killed us then-" That's when Klaus lost it.

" SHE'S DEAD!" The loudness of Klaus' voice caused Elena to jump in fright and Damon's eyes to widen slightly in shock. " SHE IS NOT COMING BACK THANKS TO YOU AND YOUR SO CALLED PRECIOUS FRIENDS! I WILL KILL WHO I LIKE AND NOTHING WILL STOP ME!" Like the night of the ritual, Klaus' eyes began to flash the same yellow colour.

" She is the great great grandmother of Elena! She will not want her nor I dead!" Stefan exclaimed, his voice still calm but louder this time. Klaus' heavy breathing now echoed around the room and for him it felt as if his lungs weren't even there.

" You know nothing! Nobody does!" Klaus shouted again, but his voice wasn't as loud this time because of his heavy panting. Then he suddenly comprehended what Stefan had fully said. Great great grandmother. How did Stefan know? Had she told him and not Klaus? " How do you know about that?" Klaus suddenly snapped, his eyes glazing over with black again.

" Lexi was the one to save Eliza from the guy who... did it. That's how they first became friends. The guy was called Edward... he was William's brother," Anger again began to rise in Klaus as he realised why she had been scared of William for all those years. If it was William's brother then they must have shared some resemblance, meaning that those memories probably replayed in her mind every time she saw William. This frustrated Klaus a lot. It was his job to protect her and yet again he'd failed.

" It's time to choose which one of them will die," Klaus announced in a tense tone after a few moments of silence, finally regaining bits of his previous composure.

" No... don't make me choose... don't make me choose... please..." Elena cried, shaking her head from side to side frantically. " I'm sorry... I'm sorry, I'll do anything you want,"

" That's not an option love... now choose," Klaus growled more firmly this time, his impatience beginning to rise.

" Don't listen to him Elena, do not choose," Stefan ordered, speaking to Elena for the first time. Elena frowned slightly though tears as she stared at Stefan for a few moments, and Klaus turned to him with an angry glare.

" Time's up. Good, now it's my choice!" Klaus exclaimed darkly, his eyes sparkling in a devilish way as he looked at the three candidates.

" Don't hurt Jeremy... I choose... I choose Jeremy!" Elena began to shout as her eyes widened in fear. But Klaus only chuckled and stepped in front of her, facing towards Stefan, Damon and Jeremy so his back was too her.

" It's already too late. You had your chance. Now it's my turn and Damon, here, has always been generally high on my priority kill list," Klaus announced and Damon only reacted by smirking, almost proudly. But Klaus could tell from his tense, icy blue eyes that Damon was afraid.

" Oh honey, you're so sweet," Damon said sarcastically.

" Sarcasm won't get you anywhere, Damon. I doubt anyone is going to find you funny on the other side," Klaus said with a smirk, before pulling out one of his wooden darts again. Moving behind Damon slowly, Klaus plunged the dark into his eye causing blood to spray across the floor and chair. Damon cried out in pain as Klaus dug the dart further and further into it and Elena began to whimper in shock. Still, Stefan didn't react and only stared at the door rather than at his brother.

" Leave him alone!" Elena cried but Klaus didn't even look up in acknowledgement. Instead, he pulled the dart out in one swift movement and then plunged it into the other. The same occurences repeated, however Damon was now repeatedly crying out and he struggled with all his vampire strength against the ropes. Klaus had smartly covered the tip of the dark with vervain so that his eyes wouldn't heal.

" Now you know how it feels to be injected with vervain, a couple more hundred times should do justice," Klaus growled lowly in Damon's ear before pulling a syringe he'd stolen from the hospital out of his pocket and stabbing it into the very center of Damon's chest. After that, Klaus continuously began to inject him with the painful substance and he made sure Damon stayed conscious all the way through so that he felt every bit of the pain she did.

" Stop this Niklaus!" Klaus rolled his eyes in annoyance as he was about to inject vervain into Damon for the final couple of times. Turning to his approaching brother, a deep frown formed on Klaus' face as he realised that Elijah was carrying an unconscious figure against his chest. As he stared at the figure in wonder, he spotted that the persons shoulders were moving up and down as the person inhaled and exhaled. Also, the person had a heartbeat.

" Unless you have anything productive to contribute, brother, then I suggest you leave," Klaus growled warningly, not noticing Stefan staring at the figure in Elijah's arms with a small smile on his face.

" I will not leave until you realise, Niklaus, that you are wrong," Elijah said firmly, keeping his usual peaceful demeanor. Klaus noticed that he kept glancing down at the figure in his arms and he studied the person careful. A pang of pain stabbed his heart as he saw the, what he now knew was, some girl''s hair that resembled hers.

" I am not wrong!" Klaus growled, suddenly snapping his eyes away from the girl and up to Elijah. In response, Elijah only rolled his eyes before locking eyes with his brother for a moment.

" Have you not yet noticed who I am carrying, brother?" Elijah questioned, causing Klaus' eyes to flicker down again. This time, his eyes widened in disbelief and almost - almost - hope as he began to recognize the features of his lost love. Emotional pain, that had died down dramatically while he was torturing Damon, was beginning to arrive in him again and tears began to well in his eyes.

" Eliza..." Klaus whispered, his eyes firmly set on the unconscious figure. He took a step forward instinctively towards her, before stopping himself abruptly.

" She's alive, Niklaus," For the first time since he'd left her body, Klaus' eyes locked on her flawless, peaceful face as she moved her head unconsciously in Elijah's arms.

" No..." Klaus suddenly whispered, looking down towards the floor. He refused to feel this pain again; to feel hope in believing that she was alive then have her ripped away from him again. Thinking about going through that again was painful for Klaus and he'd only just being managing to accept that she was gone. Now they were telling him that she was alive. What were they trying to do to him? They'd already messed him around enough.

" She's gone! She's dead!" Klaus shouted angrily with tears now running down his cheeks. " What are you trying to do to me? I will kill every last one of you!"

" No she's not dead," Stefan announced, breaking the silence he held for the whole time that Klaus had been torturing Damon.

" What do you know about this? Neither my brother nor I have had anything to do with this... resurrection," Elijah asked with a slightly confused tone, turning his attention away from his brother who was now staring at Eliza's body intently.

" When Elena told me about Esther's plan, I got Bonnie to perform a sacrificing spell on Eliza. It's the same spell Bonnie performed on Elena and John so that when Elena died, John took her place instead. I compelled a human to fall in love with Eliza so that the spell would work, so when Eliza died, the other person died and gave their life to Eliza," Stefan explained quite bluntly, as if none of his actions were heroic at all. Immediately, Klaus' head snapped up to face Stefan and curiosity laid in his eyes. Elijah too seemed confused, but Stefan only sat there with the same expression as before.

" Why would you do such a thing?" Elijah questioned, instantly believing Stefan as he'd seen the spell performed and work himself.

" I owe her," Stefan stated with a small shrug, not elaborating on the subject anymore. Elijah sensed immediately that the topic was private.

" So she's alive?" Elena asked hopefully, her eyes still bloodshot from all the crying he had been doing.

" Thankfully, and no thanks to you, yes," Elijah stated bitterly, his eyes narrowing as he looked at Elena. They had been two to always get a long since Elena and Elijah's personalities were very similar. However, they're relationship now would never be the same because of Elena's betrayal. " But she's now-"

" Human," Klaus whispered, finishing off Elijah's sentence with wide eyes. " Easier to kill," The thought of his Eliza being even more vulnerable than she already was, scared Klaus more than anything ever had. Already he'd had to feel the pain that came with her death not once, but twice. He'd already promised himself that it would never happen again but not it would be easier for his enemies to kill her. There was only one option, which was to turn her right now back into a vampire.

" Give her to me Elijah," Klaus ordered, holding his arms out for her. There was nothing more that Klaus longed for than to have her safely in his arms again and be able to kiss her and tell her that he loved her and for her to say it back. For the day that she had been gone, Klaus had refused to imagine the feeling he would regain if he discovered that she was alive. Now, he was feeling it. And no words could describe this amazing, relieved feeling now running through him. But, his mood died down a little when Elijah didn't say 'yes' instantly, and instead looked at him with contemplating eyes.

" No." Instantly, the rage that had flooded through Klaus before returned - though not with nearly as much power, it still triggered murderous thoughts to run through Klaus' mind yet again.

" What did you just say?" Klaus growled, his hands clenching into fists as he focused all of his concentration on Elijah. Everyone else in the room stayed silent and motionless, mostly because they were still tied to chairs and unable to escape. Blood was still seeping from Damon's wounds.

" I said no, brother." Elijah replied more firmly this time, his grip tightening on Eliza's body.

" Now is not the time to play around Elijah, give her too me!" Klaus ordered. Again, Elijah only shook his head.

" No, Niklaus. I know the minute you get Eliza back you will create her into a monster once again as too protect her from your so called enemies. However, I will not allow that to happen as it will be against her will. You need to let her make this decision for herself," Elijah told him calmly as the two glared daggers at each other.

" It is for her own protection! She will not die again!" With every word said against him, Klaus was growing more furious. It wasn't long before he broke all over again.

" It is against Eliza's choice Niklaus. At least allow her to wake before you hurry into such drastic choices," Elijah said.

" It feels like a lifetime since I last held her breathing body in my arms, now give her to me before I rip your heart from you're chest!" Klaus threatened, his eyes darkening yet again.

" Give me your word," Klaus paused, his eyes locked with his brothers. Pure menace shone in Klaus' eyes.

" I. give. you. my. word." Klaus growled through gritted teeth, taking a step closer towards Elijah with his arms held out for her body. Reluctantly, after pausing for a few more moments, Elijah handed Eliza's body over to Niklaus who immediately seemed to relax once she was in his arms. All the anger seemed to drain away instantly once he felt her alive figure in his arms again. Seeing her shoulders move slowly as she breathed in and out was like light to his eyes and smelling the same alluring scent of her sweet blood that he hadn't come across since their time in the twenties, pleased him in more ways than Klaus thought would ever be possible. Eliza Petrova had made it back to him.

" Thank you," Klaus whispered to his brother sincerely. Turning to face Stefan, Klaus forced a half smile to his face to show his gratitude towards him before leaving the room in an instant, heading straight back home to his and her bedroom. Not wanting - refusing - to let human Eliza out of his arms, Klaus laid down on the bed, upon arriving home, with her still cradled gently in his arms. Eagerly, with an extremely hopeful expression, he looked down at her. All he wanted was for her eyes to re-open so he could gaze into the gentle, loving jewel eyes of his Eliza. Never again was he going to let her go.

" Wake up for me, sweetheart. You don't know how much I've missed you already. I love you... so, so much my dearest Eliza. And I'm never letting you go again, not ever."
