Akisame

Not an hour after they left did Apacahi burst through the double doors that lead into the dojo grounds, with Allie in his arms. Akisame, who at that point had been sitting outside on the porch reading one of his many books, dropped his book and ran over to Apachai.

"Apachai? What happened?" Akisame asked, staring at Allie's unconscious face.

"Apachai does not know. This is how Apachai found Allie in the park. Well, she was in the bushes like this actually," Apachai said. Akisame's eyes widened and he took Allie from Apachai's arms.

"I see. I'm going to take her to my clinic and try to heal her," Akisame said. Apachai nodded and Akisame ran as fast as he could to his clinic.

Don't you die on me, Allie. I promise you I'll heal you right back up. Akisame thought. He kicked open the doors and gently placed her on one of the beds. It was at this point that he did a full observation of how bad her injuries were starting from her head and then going down.

"Three scratch marks on her left cheek. They look pretty deep and if I had to guess I would say a knife was used to make those. Although I'll have to ask Shigure about what she thinks could have been used since she is the weapon master. Her right eye is black and looks swollen shut. Her left eye looks slightly better though not by much," Akisame muttered. It took everything in him to keep calm and look at her like a doctor and not like a friend or…something else. He stroked her hair which was knotted in some areas with her own blood. He couldn't help but think that even then she still looked beautiful. He shook his head quickly. "Come on Akisame. There's no time to think like that right now! She needs your help!" he scolded himself. He took a deep breath and moved his gaze from her face to her middle area. Her shirt was ripped up to the point where Akisame almost had to look away to avoid seeing certain parts that he didn't feel was the right moment to see. Then he mentally kicked himself again and convinced himself that he had to look at her through a doctor's eyes. One of her arms was bending the wrong way and Akisame could even see a little of her elbow's bone. Through the shirt he could see several scratches similar to the ones on her left cheek, except these didn't look as deep. Her other arm looked fine apart from being bruised and a little cut up. Her legs, other than one being broken, looked like normal. Well, her broken one would look normal if she still had the cast on. For some reason she didn't and thanks to that it looked slightly worse than when she first broke it. Akisame sighed, shook his head, and stared at Allie's face. He wondered who could have possibly done something like this. He stroked her cheek that wasn't scratched.

After a moment or two his doctor side finally kicked in and he quickly administered the appropriate items to clean and fix her wounds. It took him about half an hour but he finally managed to finish cleaning her wounds. All that was left now was to wait for the wounds to heal up on their own and for Allie to wake up. Akisame sat down on the stool next to the bed and gently stared at her.

"How could I have let them take you? I thought that you would have been fine if you were inside. I guess I should have accounted for the fact that you had a broken leg. Also that Ashley might have been distracted by whatever it was that you were going to tell me. But I thought that even if Ashley was distracted, Kenichi and Miu were plenty strong enough to protect you in case you needed protecting. I guess I never thought that a martial arts master was after you and your friends. I'm sorry Allie, for not being there to protect you and your friends," Akisame muttered knowing that Allie could not hear him.

"That's a nice speech. Are you going to say the same things when she is awake?" Elder asked. Akisame spun around in his chair and saw Elder standing in the doorway, leaning against the frame.

"If I can remember all of it, then yes. I believe I will, although I may or may not have the courage at that time to say it to her," Akisame said.

"What? The famous Akisame afraid to speak his heart out to a woman?" Elder said, faking his shock.

"Ha ha. That's very funny Elder," Akisame said pretending to laugh as he swirled back around to face Allie's sleeping form.

"What's going on, Akisame? You're acting differently than usual," Elder said, walking further into the room.

"How so?" he asked.

"Well, to start with a little birdy told me you first woke up our Allie here with a kiss one of the first few days we met her. Normally you act very professional with your female patients and give them their space. You also don't normally act so bold toward woman even when they are flirting with you which Allie wasn't at the beginning from what this old man noticed," Elder said, pointing at himself at the end with a smirk. Akisame smiled as he thought of Allie's usual warm, bright smile and how she seems to light up the world around him when she shows it.

"People act differently when they're in love, so the saying says," Akisame whispered. Elder raised his blonde eyebrow.

"You're in love? But you've only known the girl for a few days now," Elder said while smiling. Akisame chuckled.

"That's true," he said.

"How do you know?"

"I don't know why, I just am. Her presence lights up my world whenever she smiles, she's always on my mind, and I feel this need to make her happy. It's a very strange and new feeling. I don't know why I love her, I just do," Akisame said. Elder smiled and placed a hand on Akisame's shoulder.

"That is love my friend. Not knowing exactly why you are in love, but you still feel it all the same," Elder said. Akisame smiled and placed his hand over Allie's.

Days passed and still no sign of Ashley and Haley. Nor did Allie wake up yet. Akisame had moved her from the bed he originally put her in and placed her in a guest room that was located across the hall from his room. It was also next to Shigure's room.

"Is she gonna be…alright?" Shigure asked on the third day of Allie being asleep. Akisame kept carving away at his most recent statue of Buda when he replied.

"I don't know. I keep telling myself that she's just resting and that she'll be up in no time. But eventually that's going to wear out. When that time comes, if it does, I'm afraid I might lose it," Akisame said.

"Lose it. You've been acting…strange since she and her friends came into all our lives," Shigure said. She kept staring at Akisame as he made his wooden Buda. "Is Akisame…thinking that he is responsible for her possible death?"

Akisame looked at her slowly with confused eyes.

"Why would you say that, Shigure?" he asked.

"You once told me people carve Buda because they believe they are responsible for something bad that has happened…or something like that," she said. Akisame shook his head.

"No, I mean yes that's what I said, but as I've said before carving Buda is just a strange hobby of mine," Akisame explained. Shigure silently nodded her head and left him to carve his Buda in silence.
