Akisame

Akisame sat in his chair, nodding off. His hands in his lap, holding onto a diary of some sorts that was closed with a lock. The front of this diary had a large castle looking laboratory. The outside iron wall was painted white and the doors, which had horizontal steel bars on them, were completely black and looked bullet proof. The horizontal bars could remind oneself of a prison once you thought about it.

"Help," a voice whispered, yanking Akisame out of his dozing. He jumped to his feet and the diary fell to the ground with a thump.

"Who's there? Who said that?" Akisame called. He glanced around his surroundings. He was still in the room across from his own, the one he had put Allie into so she could rest better.

"Help," the voice called again. It had a ghostly ring to it, yet it somehow seemed alive. Allie's body moved under her covers and her head tilted in Akisame's direction.

"Allie?" Akisame whispered. Allie's eyes remained closed as she reached out her hand towards him.

"Help, need your help," she whispered. Akisame quickly walked over to her and grabbed her hand lightly.

"Who? Allie, who needs my help?" he asked. With her eyes still closed, she sat up as if her limbs were attached to strings. She twisted and turned until her legs were dangling over the edge of her bed. She swung her other arm and pointed robotically at the diary.

"The diary? What about the diary?" he asked.

"Hers. Number 10's. It's hers. It will help. She doesn't remember, but she will. Help them, save them, protect them!" Allie said, as if the strings were suddenly cut, her body went limp and crashed back down onto the bed. Her hand went lifeless in Akisame's hand and her heart stopped beating.

"No. No, no. No. No! No! No!" Akisame yelled . He grabbed both of her arms and shook her lightly. "Allie! Don't you leave me! ALLIE!" He held her close to keep himself from shaking. Then a light bulb went on in his head and he gently put her back down so that she was lying on the bed as if she would wake up any second. He slowly turned away from her and stared at the book, her words echoing in his head.

"Help them, save them, protect them." This phrase kept going through his mind as he walked over to the diary and picked it up. This time he took a close look at it.

Number 10's diary.

Day 1

Dear Diary,

Today was my first day in this hell hole of a laboratory. I would like to record that my birthday was about three weeks ago, and I just turned 5. I would have been starting my elementary school and I was very excited….

The diary went on but Akisame didn't have the chance to read it for it disappeared in his hands.

"Help," two more voices whispered behind him. He quickly turned around and there were Ashley and Haley, both looking near the brink of death. Both terrified. "Help us!"

"Find my diary, help me!" Haley cried. Suddenly an escape door opened beneath her with water in it. She screamed at the top of her lungs and fell into the water. A crunch sound was heard not a few seconds later and the blue water turned red. The escape door closed.

"Tell Kenichi 'the old park he and I used to play at'. He will know. He will hear my screams. Help me!" Ashley yelled. The door to the room opened and a mysterious man appeared, smirking at Ashley. He grabbed her by the crook of her elbow and dragged her out of the room kicking and screaming. As soon as the door closed, Akisame heard a slap, a thump, and then blood oozed out from under the door crack.

Akisame gasped as he jumped to his feet and his book hit the floor with a thump. He repressed the urge to jump again as he hesitantly looked down to see the cover of the book. He relaxed a little when he saw that it was just his typical romance novel. His heart skipped another beat as he remembered his dream. He looked up and quickly walked over to Allie and took her pulse. He breathed a sigh of relief as he get feeling her vein pulsing against the frail skin of her wrist.

"What's gotten into you, Akisame? Freaking out over a dream? Especially a dream where the three girls seemed to die and you couldn't do a thing to help them? You must be losing your mind," Akisame whispered to himself. Then he glanced at Allie's peaceful sleeping face and smiled. "No, I'm just going through feelings I have yet to grab ahold of. That's all. Maybe once things die down, no, that's the wrong word. Once things settle down, I should be calmer like I usually am. Oh Allie, if only you knew how much I worry about you." He squeezed her hand gently and set it down. Then he slowly stood up and walked out of the room.

"I see, and where do you think this Diary could be?" Elder asked. Miu walked by and placed a cup of tea in front of Akisame and Elder. Akisame had just gotten through discussing his dream with Elder and they were determining a course of action.

"I have no idea. But I feel that if we are going to be able to find Haley, our best bet is in that diary," Akisame said. One of the paper walls next to them fell down. Along with it Sakaki, Miu, and Kenichi.

"Sakaki, kids, were you eavesdropping?" Elder asked. They all quickly stood up and laughed nervously.

"Well Grandpa, you see," Miu started.

"We um, were curious as to what you two were being so secretive about," Kenichi continued.

"Yeah, so um, we just really wanted to know what was going on," Sakaki said.

"I see. Well, do take a seat. We were just discussing where a certain book might be," Elder said.

"Book? Yeah, not my field of specialty," Sakaki said, plopping down on his butt next to Akisame.

"I'm aware Sakaki," Elder said, smirking. Miu and Kenichi sat next to each other behind the masters.

"So, do any of you three know where our friend Haley could have her diary? It will be very important to us in regards to finding her," Elder said.

"Old man, even if we do find this diary of hers, how the hell will it help us in finding her?" Sakaki asked.

"According to my dream, there are entries in it that can help us have a link to her past. If she so much as mentions any kind of names, we can look those names up and easily find the laboratory she is being kept held at," Akisame said.

"Um Master Akisame? Why are we getting leads based on your dreams?" Kenichi asked behind them. Akisame glanced over at Sakaki and saw that he was shaking, as if he was aching to tear apart anything just to be able to find Haley.

"A hint in a dream is a better lead than nothing, Kenichi. We have to use whatever is given to us and quickly," Akisame quickly explained. There was silence in the air and only a quiet cough and the sound of a door opening broke it. They all turned behind them and Akisame's eyes grew wide.

"If you're looking for Haley's diary, I might know where it is," Allie said, leaning against the doorframe.

"Allie! You're awake!" Akisame muttered. Allie briefly nodded. "I heard something fall to the ground and when I opened my eyes I saw you leaving the room. I thought it was about something important based on the way you hurried out of the room like you did, so I got up and followed you as quickly as I could."
"I see, why don't you come and sit down? You look exhausted," Akisame said. He felt the Elder's eyebrow raise but ignored it.

"Miss Allie, why don't you tell us a little more about this diary of Haley's?" Elder asked as soon as Allie was sitting down next to Akisame. She weakly nodded, her hair falling over her cheek and hiding her scratches. Akisame had asked Shigure about it during the few days Allie was asleep. They had come from an everyday pocketknife so there was no need to worry about these people being masters in weapons. However them being masters of martial arts is a different story. On the back of his mind Akisame wondered how Allie had managed to get out of bed with her broken arm and leg let alone walk the necessary distance from her bedroom upstairs to the downstairs room they were in when there weren't even stairs to begin with. He shook his head as he realized that Allie had been talking for half a minute at this point.

"-but I don't know what's written in it since it requires a lock and none of us have been able to find the key to it. When we couldn't find the key, we tried to break the lock or even lock pick it. Nothing worked. We even asked our masters and they couldn't break or unlock the thing," Allie said.

"I see. But you do know where it is?" Elder asked. Allie nodded.

"Yes, why?"

"If you can bring it here, I'm sure one of us can figure it out," Elder said. Allie nodded and tried to stand up but then fell back down with a heavy thud. Her face distorted in pain and she closed in on herself as she tried to touch both of the broken limps that were hurting at once.

"Hayato, maybe Allie shouldn't be going anywhere right now, especially by herself," Akisame suggested. Elder put his chin in the crook between his thumb and forefinger and nodded.

"Yes, that would seem rather harsh to make her do, not to mention dangerous at this point in time. Say, Sakaki wouldn't mind going. Would you Sakaki?" Elder said, smiling at Shio. Shio blushed and stammered.

"I-I mean if it's to save Haley, then sure I guess. Where is the stupid diary thing anyway?" Akisame smiled a little.

"It's in her dresser behind her clothes that hang up. There's an area of wood that has a white ropey string attached to it. If you gently, and I mean GENTLY, pull on it, you'll be able to remove the area of wood that is hiding her diary," Allie explained. Sakaki nodded, stood up, and quickly left the room.

"You think he'll be okay?" Akisame asked. Elder nodded.

"He should be. I mean, this is Haley we're talking about. He'll treat this very seriously since he has started to develop feelings for her," Elder said. Akisame nodded in agreement. One would have thought that that was the end of the day. But another burst of energy came in as the door was flung open yet again.

"Allie! Oh, Apachai is so glad you are awake!" Apachai yelled. He bounded over to Allie, picked her up, and held her in his arms like a baby. "I thought that you were DEAD. But you are not so Apachai is happy once again! Apa!" Allie laughed and winced a little in pain. She patted Apachai's head.

"Thanks Apachai. I've heard that you were the one to rescue me. It's thanks to you finding me when you did that I'm here now. You and Akisame saved my life, thank you both!" Allie said. Akisame smiled and Apachai cheered on.

"It's no problem at all Allie. I was glad to be able to help someone I care about," Akisame said. Allie blinked twice at him, then the cutest blush creeped onto her face. How could someone not save a girl like her?
