Welcome To New Orleans

The night Elijah and Eliza arrived in New Orleans...

Practically stumbling her way out of the bar, Eliza clutched the glass of water in her hands a took small sips. Like any normal person who was in a bar at 6am, Eliza was drunk and only just recovering. It was the first time in years that she had been drunk, and now that she was human, she remembered why she never did get drunk as a human. The headache that came with any hangover was slowly arising and now that the sun had risen, her eyes felt like they were on fire. In honest words, she felt like shit already. How people managed to do this night after night in the 21st century, she would never understand. But, wow. It really was a blast like everyone said. New Orleans was already turning out to be a very party driven town.

Hers and Elijah's efforts on finding Eliza's family had failed miserably within the first couple of ours and, because people sober generally didn't hang around in the very early hours of the morning, so they gave up for the night. However, since Eliza had been desperate to 'update' herself and try things she never would have done before, she decided it was time to go out partying for a night. Elijah hadn't been too fond of the idea and had been slightly worried about her, but he'd promised to keep a watchful eye over her instead of turning in for the night. Ever since Eliza had entered the party, though, she hadn't seen Elijah at all. It made her wonder whether he'd decided to leave after all...

The water was only helping slightly and, though her dizziness had already fully died down, the exhaustion was beginning to overcome her. But one thing that Eliza had learnt about herself is that she could be strong; and that is what she had become ever since she'd left. The only good thing that came out of giving up. Footsteps interrupted her thoughts about strength, however. Two men appeared from around the corner, looking like they two had been partying the night before.

" Hey... look... look over there!" One of the pointed towards her. It was the one with short, light brown hair who - just by the way he was walking - seemed to think he was bigger than he actually was. The other man with him had a very large, light brown Afro and his skin tone was chocolate brown rather than the ice white of the other. Neither looked appealing to Eliza, but unfortunately she was appealing to them. For the first time since she'd left, Eliza felt vulnerable. These were the times she needed Klaus.

" Hey, are you new?" The one with the Afro spoke first, his eyes glinting mischievously. Eliza tensed, ready to use the fighting techniques Elijah had continued to teach her. With her strength-building and fight training she was now much more competent at looking after herself. It was a very fulfilling thought.

" Uh, yeah..." Eliza replied, slowly moving closer towards the bar door just in case. Always know the enemies weaknesses...

" I'm Diego. It looks like you had a good night," Wow. This guy was actually turning out to be quite polite. But something was not right - Eliza could sense it.

" The breakfast around here is great, would you like to join us for a bite to eat?" The short haired guy asked. His grin was wicked, and Eliza found herself not trusting him.

" Um, no thanks. In fact my friend should be out here soon, I'm going with him," Eliza eyed the two men suspiciously.

" I don't think you really have a choice," The short haired guy approached Eliza carefully, tilting his head to the side and eyeing her neck hungrily. Eliza's eyes widened as the veins underneath his eyes appeared. Within a mere second, Eliza had reacted to this and punched the guy squarely in the face, busting his nose. The guy pulled back in shock and stared at Eliza in disbelief, clutching his nose.

" Vampire?" Diego questioned, unsure of what was happening.

" Wrong. Now leave me the hell alone." Eliza ordered in a feisty tone. Wow. She could definitely get use to acting this way, it intimidated people more. No. No. No. She can't change who she is just because she lost her only love...

" Not a chance in hell!" The guy who she'd punched shouted, while Diego thundered forward to attack her. Again, Eliza was prepared and kicked him directly in the stomach area where she knew the exact place it would hurt. Not as affected as the other guy, Diego instantly grabbed Eliza's leg and pulled her too him while crying out in pain. Eliza wasn't as quick to react this time, but she still managed to get away by knocking her head into his. This hurt her as much as it probably hurt Diego, however. Just as the light-headiness returned, the guy she had pushed grabbed her from behind and prepared to sink his teeth into her neck. This was before everything became a blur.

" Good morning, gentlemen." Eliza instantly recognized Elijah's voice. While the whole world suddenly became blurry for Eliza, Elijah instantaneously snapped the neck of the vampire with the short hair with no remorse. Just before he could attack Diego, though, he disappeared. Swiftly, Elijah then caught the now falling figure of Eliza in his arms. Re-running over the process that had happened countless times when he'd been training her to fight, Elijah bit into his wrist and softly placed it to her mouth. Eliza too recognized the process, and drank the blood willingly.

" You saved me." Eliza beamed up at him. She still felt slightly faint, but other than that she was now perfectly fine. Elijah was more of a gentleman than she first thought. Eliza couldn't think of anyone who had ever been so kind and caring to her - except Klaus of course.

" I did." Elijah breathed, his attention elsewhere. It took a few moments for Eliza to comprehend that he was staring at her lips longingly. Instantly receiving the message, Eliza stared up at Elijah's lips as if asking herself whether she should kiss him or not. Her heart was screaming no but her brain was screaming yes. But her reasons why didn't have time to protest before Elijah's lips softly filled hers. The feeling of being kissed caused Eliza's body to tingle in glee and she felt a whole rush of happy emotions run through her - the ones she hadn't felt since she'd last kissed Klaus. But what she couldn't help but think was that the kiss wasn't nearly as intense as the one she shared with Klaus... After all she knew she could never love anyone but Klaus in that way.

Elijah was the one to pull away after a few moments, and though his eyes were filled with a sudden spark of love, they widened almost instantly in horror. Frowning at his sudden change of mood and wondering why he'd just kissed her, Eliza stared up at him with confused eyes. Helping her too her feet, Elijah stepped away from Eliza, running a swift, frustrated hand through his hair.

" You have feelings for me?" Eliza asked in a very lost voice. It was the same one that she'd used for the period in which she had been attempting to recover from Klaus. That voice had disappeared at least a little more than a week ago. What had Elijah done?

" I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me. I should never have done that without your permission to do so..." Elijah spoke worriedly and frantically. His usual, calm demeanor had all but crippled. What would Niklaus do to him if he ever found out about this?

" You never answered my question..." Eliza reminded him, her eyes looking terribly lost and confused. The light in them had disappeared again. What the hell had Elijah done? Without another moments hesitation, Elijah ripped the vervain locket - that Klaus had gifted to her all those years ago - from her neck and stepped closer to her, careful not to touch her again.

" You will forget that I kissed you, you merely thanked me for saving you and I helped you stand up then offered to take you to breakfast." Elijah compelled, and just as he finished a loud, booming voice interrupted him. A voice that Elijah hadn't heard in more than a century.

" What the hell is going on here?" Marcel. Was Elijah's first thought, and he for a moment he thought about running. But then was Marcel knowing that they were here really a bad thing? After all, they wouldn't be staying here for ever and it would be easy enough for Elijah to protect Eliza if Marcel threatened her life.

" Marcel." Elijah's voice sounded bitter as he turned. Eliza wondered why, eyeing the angry man who was now approaching them. Marcel froze for a second as he saw Elijah, immediately recognizing him. For a second he looked as bitter as Elijah did, before he swiftly composed himself, spreading his usual greeting smile across his face.

" Elijah Mikaelson? Brother to Klaus Mikaelson?" Eliza flinched at the sound of Klaus' name. " You should have told me your family was back in town! I would have thrown a party, it's the least you guys deserve!" Eliza found it funny how she could see straight through Marcel's lies. He was too much of an open book to lie. Though he way he said it reminded her a lot of how Klaus acted around his enemies...

" Niklaus nor Rebekah have joined me. In fact we won't be staying long. Eliza and I are currently looking for some of her relatives..." Elijah seemed to have managed to compose himself again, and he now spoke politely to Marcel, just like he did to everyone else.

" Oh. Well in that case, what can I do to help?"

" Do you perhaps know where the werewolves reside in this town?" Marcel laughed as if Elijah was joking, but then quickly realised that Elijah was actually being serious.

" None do. Me and my guys ran them out of here decades ago, they haven't been near since. Everyone is under my control here, mostly thanks to your brother Klaus." Thanks to Klaus? Had Klaus lived in New Orleans before? Questions were beginning to run through Eliza's mind frantically. No. She couldn't think about Klaus anymore... " I'll make sure none of my other guys disturb you while you look,"

" We won't be here long. I would be thankful if you made sure that none of your vampires decided to use Eliza as breakfast again. Otherwise they'll end up in the same way as the last one did," Elijah threatened, his eyes narrowing. Not seeming unnerved by Elijah's threat, Marcel forced a smile to his face.

" Sure thing, Elijah. Great to see you, man. Make sure to tell Klaus to pay us a visit some time." Marcel said, turning his back and walking down the street. " Oh and I'm happy for you Elijah! You finally managed to move on from that witch of yours."

Klaus was not pleased. In fact, he was seething with rage. All this time, Elijah had promised that he was keeping Eliza safe and happy while he couldn't. How could Elijah have so easily let Eliza slip right through his fingers? Why was it that he didn't answer her cries for help when she needed it most? Whatever the reason being, Klaus would get to the bottom of it. Right now, he'd done the one thing he'd been wishing himself to do for months, but had refused to for Eliza's happiness only. He'd tracked Elijah's cell phone. On his computer, it had come up with the exact location of Elijah's whereabouts; in a fancy hotel close by to the French Quarter, a place that Klaus hadn't visited in over a century.

It hadn't taken him long to fly to New Orleans from Virginia, in fact it had taken him less time than he'd thought. Throughout the whole journey Klaus had been anxious, and the more he waited the more his rage grew with Elijah. Now that he was stood right outside the hotel, he ran right past everyone without being noticed and up to the room he knew Elijah was in. Not bothering to knock on the door, Klaus stormed into the hotel room.

" Where is she? What happened to her?" Klaus demanded angrily. However, Elijah was not alone. Instead he seemed to be amidst in a conversation with the very same girl who Klaus loathed with a seething passion. Hayley.

" Brother." Elijah tensed, his hands clenching into fists. " What are you doing here?"

" What the hell is she doing here?" Klaus' anger only grew as his eyes rested firmly on Hayley. " So while Eliza is missing you decide to play get-to-know with the very same girl that Eliza hates! Well isn't that wonderful?" Klaus said sarcastically, switching his attention back to Elijah and glaring at him darkly. At hearing that Eliza was missing, Elijah jumped up from his seat.

" Eliza is missing? Brother, she has been in the gym downstairs..." Elijah froze shaking his head in anger at himself. During the past hour and a half he'd been speaking to Hayley he'd obviously lost track of time, and hadn't even realised that Eliza should have returned at least half an hour ago.

" Well after you ignored her terribly urgent calls she turned to the one person she probably least wanted to speak to." Klaus growled. " I received a call from her around 2 hours ago where she informed me that someone had lured her out of the gym and kidnapped her." Elijah could see from Klaus' extremely tense figure that, if it wasn't for the fact that they needed to find Eliza, Klaus would have hurt him by now.

" Did she give you any idea to where she might be?" Elijah asked.

" She told me it looked like she was in a tomb but she wasn't sure..." Klaus began to explain. " It couldn't have been a vampire who'd taken her since she wears her vervain necklace so she couldn't have been lured out of the gym. So that narrows it down to being either a witch or a werewolf. However, I highly doubt the werewolves have access to tombs around here since I've already done my research on Eliza's missing family, and they were run out of town years ago." Klaus spoke efficiently and hoped that Elijah was remembering every word. But Klaus paused quizzically as guilt flooded Elijah's face and he pulled a familiar object from his pocket; Elijah's necklace.

A deep, menacing growl escaped Klaus' lips and he had Elijah pinned to the wall by his neck in seconds. Elijah made no effort to stop Klaus, but he struggled in Klaus' grip, staring down at his brother with guilty eyes.

" Klaus!" Hayley protested, but after receiving a warning glare from Klaus, she backed away.

" Why do you have her necklace?" Klaus asked, tilting his head to the side. Though his tone was softer, it had taken a darker twist. Klaus Mikaelson was now a little more than mad. " She would never take it off. Eliza is not foolish, she would never take it off and place herself in danger like that."

" I compelled her." Elijah admitted in a hushed tone. He cried out a little in pain as Klaus' grip tightened.

" What is it that you compelled her brother? Here I was thinking you were the moral one out of the two of us,"

" I acted upon my selfishness, and then did all I could to fix it." Elijah said through gritted teeth, turning away from his brother. Throughout the whole time he'd have feelings for Eliza, he'd never believed that he would feel this guilty after kissing her. Was splitting apart his family really worth it for Eliza? If not, then he clearly didn't love her like Klaus did. Niklaus would do anything to keep her safe and by his side.

" And what selfish act did you commit, Elijah?" This was exactly how Klaus spoke to his enemies; calmly, but in the darkest way possible. Elijah had never wanted to be Klaus enemy. They were brothers.

" I kissed her." Just like that, Klaus calmness disappeared and he was seething with rage yet again. A thousand ways on how he could kill his brother flashed through Klaus' mind within seconds of hearing what he had to say.

" Well, well. Showing your true colours after all, brother. So you compelled her to forget, realizing that you had ruined all of your hard work on healing her after you kissed her?" Klaus smirked. A devilish smirk that showed the deepest darkness within him; his demons. " You hurt her, Elijah. And you of all people know what I do to people who hurt her." Elijah's eyes widened in shock as the veins under Klaus' eyes appeared and Klaus bit down into his neck before pulling away swiftly, blood dripping from the corners of his mouth. Dropping Elijah to the floor, Klaus turned to Hayley.

" The next time I see you, Hayley, it will be the last moment you spend on this earth, so I suggest you leave quietly unless you wish to have your heart ripped out," Klaus threatened, his eyes glowing yellow. Defiantly, Hayley crossed her arms over her chest, studying Klaus for a moment.

" No thank you." Was all she replied, storming out of the room.

" Well, I guess you're on your, brother. That is, while I go out and fix your mistakes for once." Klaus looked down at Elijah on the floor, before bending down and gripping his neck again. " Oh, and I forgot to add. If you ever do anything like that with Eliza again, that is against her will, then I'll make sure to pull out that white oak stake of mine that I've been keeping for a special occasion." And with that, Klaus stormed out of the room knowing exactly what he needed to try and find first. A vampire. There had to be someone in this town that lived during the age where Klaus ruled this city...

" Klaus." Seeing his old son, Marcel, was strange for Klaus. It brought back old memories that had only disappeared when he'd fallen in love with Eliza, memories that pained him every time he thought of them. Right now, however, the worry he felt for Eliza was enough to stop these memories from disturbing him. So instead of standing in shock as he saw the very boy he'd abandoned to save himself and his family, Klaus smirked as he always did when meeting an old acquaintance.

" Marcel." The tension in the air was obvious. Thus so, Marcels companions rose from their seats around the table and stood behind Marcel, ready to strike. Klaus couldn't help but think that he'd taught Marcel well...

" Must be a hundred years since that nasty bit with your papa..." Again, Klaus held the memories down and he had a feeling that Marcel knew what mentioning this did to him. It made him feel guilt that he didn't want to feel... Always know the enemies weaknesses. He was the one who taught Marcel that. Now it was being used against him.

" Has it been that long?" Seemingly more trustful, Marcel took a few steps closer to Klaus, his followers flanking him.

" The way I recall it, he ran you outta town. Left a trail of dead vampires in his wake." The bitterness in Marcel's tone was there and exceedingly obvious.

" How fortunate it is then that you managed to survive," For some reason, Klaus was relieved that he had managed to survive. After all these years of thinking that Marcellus was dead... " My father, I'm afraid, incinerated to dust." Other sat around the bar - vampires - stood, all of their concentration now on Klaus' next move.

" I'm guessing Elijah gave you the heads up that I was still here? Did he tell you to come down here and say hi?" Marcel asked sarcastically, knowing full well that Klaus never took orders from anyone. However, a frown appeared on Klaus' face.

" You've seen Elijah?"

" Hell yeah. I promised him a damn parade for returning. But he said that he wasn't staying. So I guess the parade's up for offer, now that the almighty Klaus Mikaelson has returned?" A beaming smirk spread across Marcel's face, and like old friends, Marcel and Klaus hugged each other. The tension instantly eased around the room, and Marcel gestured for Klaus to sit with him. Soon they were both sat having drinks.

" It's good to see you," Marcel said. " My mentor. My sire. My saviour." Though it didn't sound like sarcasm, Klaus could see it in Marcel's eyes.

" It's good to be home. Although please tell me the current state of bourbon street is not your doing." A lot had changed since Klaus had left. The witch he had run into seemed afraid of Marcel, and she didn't seem the vulnerable type. It made Klaus wonder whether Marcel really had succeeded in this town. After all, they were all following his rules. Could it have been Marcel who'd taken Eliza? If so, then he'd shred this town to pieces to get her back.

" Something's gotta draw in the out-of-towners, otherwise we'd all go hungry."

" I see your friends of day walkers..." If Klaus was going to get Eliza back, he needed to know as much as possible. Though no army of Marcel's could possibly defeat him.

" Yeah, yeah. I shared that secret of yours. Just to the inner circle though - the family." Marcel replied, patting one of his friends on the back. Klaus smiled, though it didn't reach his eyes.

" Enlighten me, how did you find a witch to produce these daylight rings?"

" I got the witches wrapped around my finger here," Marcel smirked proudly. Klaus chuckled at him.

" Well then, it seems I've found the exact person who can help me,"

" What do you need, Klaus? Whatever it is, I'm happy to help." Klaus decided to take a more serious turn, and Marcel could tell by the look in Klaus' eyes that whatever it was, it was important.

" I'm looking for someone. A girl, to be specific. Her names Eliza Petrova. She went missing this morning from the hotel my brother has been staying in. I need to find her,"

" Oh, Elijah's girl?" Klaus' expression darkened thunderously; a storm taking over his expression. " About yay high?" Marcel gestured her height." Long brown hair, human?"

" That's my girl." Klaus stated it clearly and in a deeper tone. Confusion filled Marcel's expression.

" Your girl? You know that I caught Elijah kissing her outside this very same bar yesterday? He seemed way protective of her after two of my guys tried to feed from her. One of them paid the price for it. I figured since he was the one to save her an all that they were together," Klaus hid away all his anger, saving it for later. It seems that Elijah deserved even more punishment...

" Well my brother has paid the price, and unfortunately won't be well for a few days. So, Marcel, can you enlighten me to whether any of your day-walkers returned for round two?" Marcel could tell from the tone of Klaus' voice and the anger that Eliza meant a lot to Klaus. It was satisfying to know that the almighty hybrid finally had a weakness...

" After Elijah's warning, I warned them all to back off. None of my guys disobey." Marcel answered firmly. " I have, however, caught loop that one of the witches in town has performed magic, one of the spells been a locator spell. They probably have your girl,"

" Very good. Now do you happen to know if the tombs in this town are linked to witches?"

" Bingo. The only tombs you'll find in this town are in the graveyard, the exact place where the witches draw their power from. They're useless without their ancestors magic,"

" It seems you've come to be useful to me as always Marcellus," Klaus smiled.

" Well what's mine is yours, old friend. Now after we've sorted out the witch who committed the crime, we'll go right ahead and find your girl. My guys can have them screaming for mercy," Wow. Klaus really had created a monster.

" Unfortunately my girl isn't too fond of violence, but I will come and join in with the entertainment. Punishing those who commit crimes is, in fact, what I do best after all. Especially to those, who hurt my girl," Klaus said this as a threat to warn Marcel, and he seemed to get the gist of what Klaus was meaning.

It had taken longer than Klaus had wanted; watching Marcel kill his one and only lead to find Eliza - a witch named Jane Anne Deveraux - compelling Marcel to forget each and everything he'd told him about Eliza and, finally, compelling Marcel's right hand man, Thierry, to reveal where the witches lived around here. Now he'd finally arrived at his destination. The graveyard, right beside the church. The very source of all the witches powers. The only tombs in the French Quarter. Klaus could sense Eliza's presence here somewhere already and he was glad that he'd saved all the anger he felt within him towards everyone who'd harmed Eliza, as now he was craving to kill.

Mere minutes, that's the amount of time it took him to discover the right tomb. Already he could here her voice inside - the same one he'd missed so terribly. It hurt him to here that she was actually crying though; Elijah had said that she'd grown much more emotionally stronger over the past month or so, meaning that Klaus had believed that it would be rare of him to hear Eliza cry again. But there it was, loud and clear.

The sound of the rock in front of the tomb been moved, caused Eliza's tears to abruptly stop.

" Please... Just leave me alone. I know why I'm here and I've already agreed..." Eliza said through tears, causing Klaus to frown in confusion. What had the witches made Eliza agree too? The thought of it angered him. " Just leave me alone!" She screamed this time, and it echoed from the walls creating a flurry of sound.

It was then, that Klaus managed to fully moved the rock. Eliza froze as her head snapped up to the entrance, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. The two stared at each other for a moment, taking each other in after so long. Instantly, Klaus' eyes seemed to brighten and Eliza's tears stops. That's when Eliza bolted into Klaus' arms. Klaus welcomed her immediately, and held her body closely to his.

" It's okay, sweetheart." Klaus cooed softly in her ear. " I'm here, your safe. Nothing is going to hurt you,"

" That's not what I'm worried about," Eliza replied, shaking her head but keeping it buried into his chest. Wow. She really had missed him. " Why did you come in this way? There's a door-"

" A barrier spell blocks it, disallowing vampires to past through. It's a very ancient one that must have been placed there years ago," Klaus interrupted. That barrier spell had confused him. Surely the witches knew that an Original Vampire could manage to break in through the back? Or did they not know about anything between Klaus and Eliza at all?

" Okay, now I've seen you I know you're here for me but now you need to leave," Eliza ordered. It took all of her efforts to drag herself out of Klaus' arms again, but she knew what she needed to do.

" Without you?" Confusion spread over Klaus' expression.

" Yes. You need to go and go quickly, get out of this cemetery and go back home," Eliza looked strong. It was strange for Klaus to see her ordering him around with the same emotionless eyes that he used when ordering other around. She had changed after all...

" Not without-" Klaus began to protest, but Eliza interrupted.

" Leave now. The witches only kidnapped me for one specific reason." Eliza revealed. " You, Klaus. They want you."

" I don't care, Eliza." Klaus growled, his voice dominant. " Come with me before you get hurt," Cautiously, Klaus took a few steps towards her and brushed his hand over her cheek affectionately. For a single moment, she stared at him with love filled eyes, before her attention switched to something behind him. Klaus was too absorbed with seeing her again, that he didn't noticed the woman behind him. The woman slammed a needle into his neck.

Klaus gasped in pain and turned, preparing to throw the woman away. Then he realised what the syringe had held. Vervain. Eyes drooping, Klaus felt himself collapse to the floor and drift into unconsciousness. His last thoughts been worries of Eliza's safety.

" No." Eliza growled, glaring thunderously at the woman she'd only just met earlier. In anger, Eliza leaped forward, only to be greeted by a knife slashing through her arm. She cried out in pain. " Leave him alone." Eliza growled, clutching her arm and backing away.

" Don't make me use this on you again." The woman ordered. " You know what we want, we're giving Klaus an offer he can't refuse. Now, I suggest you use these bandages for that wound. And don't even think about attacking me again, otherwise you and your baby are dead. Got it?" Eliza nodded, worry appearing in her eyes again as she gently placed both of her hands on her stomach, encasing her wound with protection.

Her little baby. Her second chance. Their second chance.

So their you have it, you know who's pregnant. Eliza and Elijah kissed and Klaus is obviously not happy. Hope you liked this introduction to the Originals storyline, and I hope you like how I've twisted the story line a little.
