Healing Powers
" Well, tonight was an epic failure!" The raised voices alerted Eliza and caused her to perk up from the useless book she was reading, while curled up on the sofa. To her greatest annoyance, she had been forced to keep out of the plans concerning the return or Elijah and Klaus' taking over of the city, meaning she'd had nothing to do all day but sit and wait around. Though she'd hardly worried, she'd been greatly bored for the majority of the day and was glad to finally hear that Rebekah and Klaus had returned.
" On the contrary, sister, tonight was a masterpiece." Eliza rolled her eyes at Rebekah and Klaus' bickering, watching them as they entered the room. Instantly, Klaus' eyes wandered over Eliza as she came into view, checking to see if she was perfectly okay. Smiling up reassuringly at him, Eliza held back at chuckle at the siblings. " Eliza, sweetheart, I trust that you are well?"
" Well pregnancy hormones are raging I had a small visit from a kind witch and a wolf decided to stop by. Other than that, my day has been fairly boring. I trust that your plan has worked?" Eliza replied as Klaus poured himself a drink, while Rebekah sat down on the sofa in annoyance.
" A witch?" Klaus expression turned confused and worried.
" A witch named Sabine, she was only here to see our magical miracle babies and to check up on me. She's friends with Sophie. Sabine claims that she can help me, she doesn't agree with Sophie's method of doing things." Eliza shrugged nonchalantly.
" Do not trust the witches, Eliza, surely you should understand this." Klaus seemed slightly annoyed at hearing this story.
" The witches don't concern me, either way they all plan to kill me and our children. What does intrigue me, however, is the wolf that appeared. I may have just found my family." Eliza announced, a small smile playing on her face. It was then that Klaus' face turned expressionless and he grew silent, paying close attention to the drink in his hand. Choosing to ignore this, Eliza turned to an annoyed Rebekah.
" Such a lovely day you've had. Now why don't we turn back our attention to more pressing matters? Elijah, perhaps. After all, he is still not with us." Rebekah snapped at both Eliza and Klaus. Even though Eliza wanted Elijah back as much as Rebekah did, she didn't choose to dwell on the fact that he still hadn't yet returned. In fact, she'd known since the previous day that the plan wouldn't fully succeed and she was choosing not to worry herself over it. Elijah couldn't die, after all, and she knew Klaus would do everything in his power to retrieve his brother from Marcel. At present, her feelings towards Klaus had grown, she was somewhat beginning to trust him a little more...
" Someone's in a touchy mood," Eliza teased, earning herself a chuckle from Klaus and a glare from Rebekah. " So do tell me about this amazing party that I wasn't allowed to go to."
" Well, our dear Rebekah had a run in with an ex and his new girlfriend," Klaus smirked, loving the fact that Eliza seemed pleasant with him today and in no way resentful. Things were improving.
" Ah, that explains the mood."
Rebekah was growing angry now and was becoming annoyed with both Eliza and Klaus' teasing. " The party was a complete disaster. Since Katie was killed before Sophie managed to complete the locator spell, the only good thing was that it gave me the chance to dress up for once."
" So you still don't know where Elijah is then?" Eliza asked nonchalantly.
" I am well aware, dear sister, that your own petulant plan failed to achieve it's goal, however mine was flawlessly successful,"
" Your own plan? So as usual you trust no one and decide to try things on your own. Well I don't see Elijah walking around here, so I wouldn't exactly call that success, Nik!" Rebekah snapped heatedly, glaring at her brother.
" I killed Katie, dear sister. There's no way our little suicide witch wasn't going to try and take out Marcel with her. I saved his life, and in doing so, I now have him exactly where I want him." Klaus seemed proud of himself, and the vanity radiated from him causing Eliza to roll her eyes.
" Sophie Deveraux trusted you! I trusted you, against my better instincts." Rebekah's anger was only growing, thus meaning it was time for Eliza to try and intervene, to calm the two down.
" Oh wake up, Rebekah. The witches are on no one's side but their own. This girl, Davina? That's all they want, and when they have her, what do you think happens then, a truce? Of course not. They will use Davina's power against all of us - you, Eliza, my children. A witch as powerful as her will be unstoppable," Klaus explained. It was only a matter of time before Klaus lost his cool demeanor, and that time had now come.
" Woah, hang on, wait... What's this about a powerful witch? Davina, did you call her?" Eliza questioned upon hearing the new news.
" Thanks to the almighty Niklaus, the good brother has been placed under the hands of the most powerful witch we've ever come across, besides our dead mother of course. Marcel has her under his power and the witches want her back, which is exactly why the witches threatened Klaus, to use him as their own weapon," Rebekah explained in a more calmed tone.
" And as you know very well, sweetheart, I cannot and do not like to be controlled, which is exactly why we have our own side," Klaus continued, genuinely smiling down at Eliza. " Now, down to more important matters, thanks to my flawless plan... Marcellus has agreed to hand Elijah over. And also, when the time is right, when he has told me everything I need to know about Davina, I will have her for myself."
" I have all the faith in the world that you'll get what you want, Nik. You always do, no matter what is costs the rest of us. You disgust me." And with that, Rebekah stormed out of the room without another word.
" And as usual, your hunger for power has not ceased to be a problem," Eliza sighed, looking away from Klaus and turning back to the book she had previously been reading. Seemingly annoyed at the fact that neither Rebekah nor Eliza seemed ecstatic at the fact that Klaus had successfully found Elijah, Klaus walked out of the room and headed out of the front door.
Hoc est infantima malom. Nos omnia perditu el eam. Those words remained in Eliza's head from what the witch Sabine had said to her earlier... Eliza wished to think nothing of it, but she guessed she could ask tomorrow when she would finally be discovering the sex of her children.
The next day...
" So have you finally had enough of the beautiful blonde who has been listening to your endless amount of problems?" Rebekah was still in a touchy mood from yesterday and Eliza was sat on the sofa again, in deep thought about what sex she wanted her babies to actually be. Boys? Girls? Or both. Agnes, the witch who Sabine had told her would visit today to confirm the appointment she had in the clinic center in the Bayou, had been incredibly kind to her when she visited all but half an hour ago, yet still something didn't seem right.
" Beautiful blonde?" Eliza perked up, feeling an odd sense of jealousy. She had never had reason to be jealous before, besides the time when she had seen Klaus and Caroline together...
" Cami has been delighting me with her psychology skills, after all, why shouldn't I use a professional to try and understand my somewhat devilish mind?"
Eliza chuckled at this. " Tell her I say good luck."
Klaus heard the slight amount of spite in Eliza's tone and frowned. He had thought they were getting somewhere yesterday... Now she clearly hated his 'devilish' mind yet again.
" Please, sister, tell me you're not still at it with the internet search. How does one begin, anyway? Just type in "anonymous attic?"" Klaus smirked at his own joke.
" Wait, your still internet searching, Bekah? I'd have thought you would have moved on by now considering Elijah will be returning today..." The thought of Elijah returning today please Eliza, as finally the good brother would be back. Her best friend would be back. It seemed that, after spending so much time with Elijah, he was the only one who truly understood Eliza and her situation. In many ways she felt as if she needed him... But not as much as she needed Klaus.
" Unlike you, Eliza, my priorities haven't wavered from one brother to the other, I am loyal to the good brother and not the evil one. You need to learn not to follow the Petrova instinct of playing two brothers," Rebekah snapped, her eyes never leaving the computer screen in front of her. A wave of hurt and worry burst through Eliza as Rebekah said this, and a frown formed on her face. Is that what it looked like she was doing? Playing both brothers?
" Rebekah," Klaus warned, sounding rather annoyed. Eliza still didn't speak, instead choosing to pay more attention to the book in front of her.
" If that's what it looks like - "
" Forget it. As you can see my dear brother is annoying me and I decided to take that anger out on you. I'm sorry." Rebekah's apology was brief and she'd walked out of the room before Eliza even had a chance to reply.
" Do you think that, Nik?" Eliza asked, sounding as angelic as she use to before she ran from Mystic Falls. Choosing not to meet her eyes, Klaus kept his eyes firmly set on the window. What pleased him, however, was the fact that she had called him Nik again and not Klaus. In a way, it seemed a more endearing name for her to call him.
" If that was the case, sweetheart, then I wouldn't have daggered Elijah in the first place," Klaus replied quietly, sounding seemingly truthful.
" What?"
" Now is not the time to question my motives," Klaus grumbled. His eyes still never left the window, and he seemed to be concentrating on it hard while in deep thought.
" This afternoon Agnes is taking me to a clinic near the Bayou, I'm going to find out the sex of our children," Eliza told him, a smile growing on her face at the mere thought. Now that Eliza knew that somewhere deep inside of him, Klaus did care for these children, she wanted him to be there for the important events during any pregnancy - this being one of them. " I thought it would be nice if you were there."
" Unfortunately, sweetheart, I have a festival to attend, after all I need to see my new, powerful witch." Klaus turned and headed back to a desk in the corner, pouring some more whiskey into his glass. Surely it was too early for alcohol... However, Eliza didn't say anything against this.
" Right, you have more important matters." Eliza hid the hurt from her expression and climbed up from the sofa, not wanting to listen to anymore of Klaus' obnoxious plans.
" Eliza..." Klaus groaned, realizing that what he said was insensitive towards her. Parenting was never going to come easily to Klaus, just like being a boyfriend never came easy to him. However, he had made a grand effort when he was courting Eliza back in the earlier 1920's, and he was more than willing to make an effort now - after all, every king needs a Queen and an heir.
Completely ignoring Klaus, Eliza retreated upstairs to find something entertaining to do. Since she was now stuck in the house without a friend who was willing to stay with her for more than an hour, Eliza was struggling to find something fun to occupy herself with. The more bored she was, the more impatient she became for Elijah to return and the old Klaus to come back...
Darkness had fallen, yet another hopeless day gone. The car gradually stopped on the side of a road surrounded by tall, winding trees and a single building to the right; it was a compact, simple building with only a few windows, in which light shone through. A sign on the very front of this building read 'Bayou Clinic', indicating that Agnes and Eliza had arrived at their destination.
" This is it? Out in the middle of nowhere?" Eliza turned to Agnes with her eyebrows raised. For some reason, something didn't feel quite right. However, she trusted that Agnes' intentions were honorable and that there was a reasonable explanation for why they were this far out so late at night.
" Dr. Paige is only this far out because Marcel's men kept terrorizing her patients. Go! She won't bite," Agnes promised with an eager smile.
" Ok. Thank you for this, by the way. I owe you." Eliza smiled before clambering out of the car not so gracefully and heading warily up to the front door. A cold chill ran solidly down her back as an icy breeze blew through the hidden area, causing tension to rise within Eliza.
Not bothering to knock, Eliza entered the clinic and a door bell rang, indicating to the owner that she had arrived. Almost instantly a women came out from a door and smiled a little too brightly at Eliza; a sickly sweet smile, one that echoed it's falseness.
" You must be Eliza." Eliza nodded at the women in front of her, forcing a smile to her face. " My name is and I will be doing your ultrasound today. Let's go see this beautiful baby of yours."
Not uttering a single word, Eliza followed Dr Paige silently into the smaller side room. The room was filled with typical medical equipment, but it seemed rather disorganized and slightly dusty, as if it hadn't been used in a while.
" If you could just lay down for me please, and we'll begin." Eliza followed the instruction, still without speaking and laid down uncomfortably on the medical table in front of her. Soon enough, Dr Paige had the Ultrasound kit up and working and the cold gel was being placed on Eliza's slightly swollen stomach. As Dr Paige moved the piece of equipment over her stomach, a smile broke out on Elijah's face as she heard two strong heart beats. Her little babies...
" The heartbeat of both babies are excellent, perfect even," Dr Paige informed Eliza.
" I knew it. They're strong like their father," Eliza muttered under her breath, hoping that Dr Paige hadn't heard.
Eliza's attention was then switched away from the heartbeats, as Dr Paige pulled out a screen from the machine that showed both babies inside of her stomach. Her smile only grew as she watched in awe, almost mesmerized by the two peanut size dots on the screen. No part of their body had fully formed yet and nothing was really recognizable, yet they were the most beautiful thing in the world to Eliza right now.
" Everything is perfectly fine, and Agnes has told me to inform you that you are having a girl and a boy. It's too early to tell on the ultrasound what sex both babies are, but she did a little witch trick when she visited yesterday and told me to tell you,"
A girl. A boy. Her own little, less broken version of Klaus - the good side of him. That's who she hoped the boy would resemble. The girl would maybe have her dark locks or maybe they both would have her blue eyes... maybe even Klaus' sea green eyes. Either way, they were going to be strong little fighters. Either way, they would be absolutely perfect. Eliza hadn't felt this kind of a joy in a long time. This feeling was beginning to make the hours she had spent alone, in that god forsaken boring house, worth it all.
" That's perfect. Absolutely perfect." For the first time, Eliza smiled genuinely up at the women. " Is that everything?"
frowned a little, seeming hesitant for some reason. " Actually your blood pressure is a little high, let me just get some medication for you."
" Okay." Just as left the room, Eliza heard her phone ringing from her bag and figured it was probably Rebekah, wondering where she was. However, as she pulled out her phone from her bag, she saw the very name on the screen that was the one she least expected to see. In fact, how was it possible unless he had truly returned? Had Klaus taken his phone?
" Klaus why do you have Elijah's phone?" Eliza demanded after pressing the green button. It hadn't yet occured to Eliza why Klaus would take Elijah's phone, but it was the only possible explanation. If Elijah was truly back, then surely Klaus would have immediately informed her?
" I assure you, this is not Niklaus you are speaking to, Eliza." Wrong. It seemed that Klaus hadn't informed her. There was no doubt in Eliza's mind that it was Elijah's velvety voice speaking to her down the phone. Another, unintentional smile formed upon her features.
" Elijah." Was all Eliza managed to breath out, slightly speechless. The relief that was spreading through her now soothed and calmed the continuous nerves that had been irritating her body since Elijah's abrupt departure.
" You seem surprised to hear from me. This could only mean that Niklaus has informed you about my whereabouts." Elijah seemed to be speaking rather cautiously and conserved, but never the less, it was Elijah; her best friend.
" I just didn't expect you to be back... Rebekah said yesterday that the plan to retrieve your body failed, did she and Klaus find you today without telling me?" Eliza asked with a small, confused frown.
" Unfortunately, no. The young witch Davina, who my body had been left with, removed the dagger today, unaware that doing so would negate the daggers power. For the time being, I am dwelling in an empty house where I expected to find you, Rebekah and Niklaus. Where are you?"
" Aren't they going to notice that your bodies missing and come back for you? And I'm at a clinic in the Bayou, one of the witches kindly booked me in for an ultrasound." Eliza explained softly. Suddenly, a loud wolf howl sounded from outside the window, causing Eliza's head to snap to face that direction. The sound had soudned close - too close.
" Are the babies well?" Eliza would hear the concern in Elijah's voice and she smiled slightly, while curiously heading towards the window to check out where the howl came from. It was nice to hear someone concerned about the babies well being, especially after Klaus' poor reaction to the ultrasound the previous morning.
" They are perfectly healthy and I'm having a boy and girl," Frowning as she saw headlights out of the window, Eliza became slightly nervous. The people who climbed out of the car looked very serious, as if they were on some sort of mission... Something was happening, Eliza could sense it.
" Congratulations,"
" Elijah I need you to come down to the Bayou-" Eliza broke off mid speech as Dr Paige returned to the room, medication in her hands.
" Here you go..." Dr Paige's eyes landed on the phone at Eliza's ear as she tried to hand over the pills to Eliza.
" Eliza? Is something wrong?" The concern had risen in Elijah's voice but Eliza pretended that the call had ended, placing her phone on her lap. This meant that Elijah would still be able to hear everything.
" Um, I'm actually not that good with pills... I'm sure I'll be fine." Abruptly, Eliza stood up from the table, making sure to grab her phone before it fell.
" Neither am I, truth be told." The doctor placed the medication down on the table and began preparing it. Frowning deeply, Eliza wandered to the door and looked through the small window that allowed her to see into the reception area in the clinic. Three, tall and muscular, men had just entered the clinic with Agnes by their side. Upon seeing them, Eliza frowned and wondered why they were here - Agnes was supposed to wait outside to take her home. Checking her phone again, Eliza found that, thankfully, the call with Elijah was still running.
Turning around again, Eliza found herself face to face with , who was preparing to shove a needle into her. Eliza's quick reflexes and supernatural power instantly kicked in, and Eliza grabbed the woman's hand, twisting it around and forcing her to release the syringe. A scream of pain escaped the women's lips as Eliza injected the syringe into her neck. As the woman dropped to the ground, Eliza turned to see the three men hurriedly heading towards the door. Quickly, Eliza did the first thing that came to her mind and locked the door, before heading towards the large window at the right side of the room. With one swift kick, the window smashed and Eliza launched herself out of hit, before running off into the woods. The car was not an option to run back to, as now doubt there would be more of them there, meaning that Eliza would just have to wait for Elijah to come.
" Elijah..." Eliza panted down the phone, hoping that he was still there." I need your help."
" I'm on my way. I need you to inform me of your location and explain what has happened." Eliza could hear the wind through the phone, meaning that Elijah was running vampire speed. Pushing herself forward, Eliza carried on sprinting deeper into the woods, hoping that the wolf she'd heard before wouldn't make an appearance.
" Doctor tried to sedate me... Some guys are trying to get me... I'm running through the woods, to the right of the clinic... I can hear them coming after me." Eliza tried to keep her voice low and searched for a good hiding space.
" I will be there as soon as possible." Eliza took this moment to place the phone in her pocket and hide behind the nearest tree. She could hear the footsteps of the guys coming after her. However, there was only 3 of them, surely she was strong enough to take them all down?
A twig snapped causing Eliza to jump - the men were closer than she had first anticipated. With a few deep breaths, Eliza mentally prepared herself. 1. 2. 3...Eliza launched herself away from the tree and attacked the first man from behind, snapping his neck in an instant. Turning towards the sound of the second man, Eliza crouched slightly as the man ran towards her, a knife located in his hand. Grabbing the man's hand, Eliza twisted it and brought it up to the man's neck. During this process, another man sneeked up behind but Eliza managed to kick him away, while slitting the second man's throat. Eliza turned to the third man on the floor, picking him up from the ground and snapping his neck again. However, right when she was doing this, an arrow was shot and it pierced into her arm, causing her to whimper in pain. From the side, another man attacked almost immediately after she was hurt, and this one managed to grabbed Eliza's arms. With less strength, Eliza knocked her head against the man's and kneed him in the groin, snapping his neck as he fell to the ground. But the fight was lost. Just as Eliza killed the fourth attacker, another arrow pierced Eliza's back, and this time she fell to the ground, falling unconscious. A sudden drowsiness had overtook her...
Arms were on her. It set her body on edge. It made her eyes snap open, wide and panicked. What the hell had just happened!?
" Eliza... Eliza..." That familiar, lost voice called her, awakening her. The minute Eliza's eyes were open, the first thing she saw was Elijah's worried frown as he brushed the hair from her face, as if examining her.
" Elijah?" Eliza's voice sounded croaky and confused. With a brief smile of relief, Elijah helped Eliza up into a sitting position on the muddy ground. " What happened? Where are the... attackers?"
" I don't know. It was only now that I finally came across your unconscious body. You were alone here, no bodies, no people. Nothing." Elijah informed her with a frown." Are you hurt? Can you feel any wounds?"
Eliza frowned as she realised that she actually felt no pain whatsoever and that the only mark left from the arrows, was the blood that stained her purple t-shirt. " Actually, no... I don't think I'm hurt at all."
" Can you be sure? Surely you wouldn't have been unconscious without some sort of fatal wound or sedation? Where are the marks? The only thing I see is blood..." Upon mentioning blood, Eliza noticed how Elijah's eyes seemed to darken and his eyes lingered on the dry blood longer than they should have done.
" You're hungry," Eliza stated, seeing the thirst laced in Elijah's eyes." Here..." Eliza offered up her wrist willingly. A frown instantly formed on Elijah's face and he shook his head, moving his lips away from Eliza's wrist.
" No. Not after I find you unconscious on the ground with blood staining your shirt. Something has happened to you and I need to know what..." For a moment, Eliza thought about it. The only thing that could have cured her wounds like that was a vampire and/or hybrids blood. But it was most likely vampires that'd attacked her and there wasn't a possibility that Klaus would have healed her and left her in the woods. But who else would have the blood to heal her? Or the power?
" Elijah..." Eliza whispered in awe, her hand moving to her stomach as she realised who else had the DNA to form healing blood." You don't think my babies healed me, do you?"
Elijah's eyes widened in shock and amazement, as his eyes too dropped down to her stomach." It's a possibility."
" That's incredible..." Eliza whispered, rubbing her stomach affectionately.
" Now I think it is time that I return you home," Elijah announced, holding out a hand for Eliza. With a grateful smile, Eliza took his hand and he helped her up from the floor, then began to lead her out of the woods.
" Wait... I need my phone, I need to call Klaus to tell him that I'm okay... You know what he's like, he'll be going frantic if he knows that I'm not home yet," Eliza muttered awkwardly, looking down towards the floor. Bringing up the person who daggered Elijah was a risky thing to do, as Eliza didn't know what Elijah was going to do to Klaus yet... For all she knew he could try and kill him. Then what would she do? Who's side would she taken in a fight that included her true love and best friend? Klaus'. Always...
" I assure you that, that is not necessary Eliza, you will be returned home shortly and Niklaus will cease to worry. However, tonight I will not be returning home and I need you to promise me something," Elijah announced, looking down at her with concern laced in his eyes.
" You're not coming home?" Eliza questioned with a frown." What is it that you need?"
" Unfortunately I will be returning to Davina's living quarters tonight, and I wish to attempt to gain her trust. A powerful witch like her is dangerous to have as an enemy, and Niklaus has already proved himself an enemy to her. Because of this, I need you to return with me to help me gain her trust. I can promise that she will not harm you or your children in anyway, she is no monster. From what I gather, she is a young girl with more power than she herself can handle. She is too good-natured for this kind of evil power. I want to help her, and to do so I need you help." Elijah explained.
Hesitating, Eliza looked up at Elijah with a worried look." I don't know, Elijah... She's with Marcel... If she hates Klaus, then she'll hate me. She might even want revenge on him, and we all know how people get revenge on Klaus... I can't put my children in danger like that."
" Trust me, Eliza. When have I ever broken a promise to you?" Elijah questioned. " No harm will come to your or your children. I will not let that happen."
" Fine... I'll do it."
I apologise now because this is not the best chapter in the world, but it's an update! It's been so long since I last updated, and for that I'm so sorry! But hopefully this slightly makes up for it as it's a 5,000 word long chapter - a very long chapter! Finally, Elijah is back :D :D Not much of Klaus in this chapter suprisingly, but there will be some Elijah/Eliza/Klaus scenes in the next chapter, and Eliza will meet Davina :)
More updates will be soon, I promise!
Please do tell me what you think of this chapter by commenting and thank you so much for all the support so far!
