Chapter 33 (Saiya POV)
A/N: Time skip!...On with the story
"Mommy! Where's daddy? When is he coming home?" Ayome asked, tugging on my shirt.
I glanced down at my green-eyed, silver haired daughter. She looks exactly like Kakashi, except for the eyes. She's got my eyes. Whether she has my blood trait or not remains to be seen.
"Honey, he'll be home soon okay? He's on a very important mission right now," I said, picking her up and placing her on the counter next to me while I washed dishes.
"Is he out saving the world again?" she asked curiously, her eyes sparkling bright.
"Yes he is darling," I said brightly then gazed out the window at the setting sun.
It's been three days since he's gone. He was charges to protect the Kazekage on his trip back to Suna. It was hard to believe that Gaara had gone on to become the Leader of Wind Country.
"Mommy, when can I be a ninja like you and daddy?" her innocent voice interrupted my thoughts.
"When you're a lot older honey," I laughed. "Are you sure you want to be a ninja?"
"I wanna be just like you mommy!" she said excitedly. "Kya!"
She tried to throw a punch but almost fell instead.
"Be careful Ayome," I warned. "Now how about some dinner?"
She nodded eagerly and I started making some ramen for the both of us. As Ayome was eating, I cut some fruit for Kakashi. If he came back tonight, then he would have something to eat.
"Make sure to finish all of your milk honey," I reminded her.
Instead of hearing an answer, I heard her small feet patter toward me. She held out her empty bowl and glass and had the cutest smile on her face.
"All done," she said cheekily.
She was so cute! I placed her dishes into the sink and then took her hand. I was about to take a seat when there was a knock at the door.
'Now who could that be?' I wondered to myself.
I found Iruka standing on the other side of the door.
"Oh, Saiya! I didn't expect to see you," Iruka said with surprise in his voice. "It's been awhile."
"Hello Iruka, and yes it has been," I nodded. "What brings you here?"
"Mommy who is it?" I heard Ayome's voice from the other room.
Her feet pitter-pattered toward the door, her face held a look of immense happiness. She stopped and quickly hid behind my legs when she saw that she didn't know who it was.
"Sorry Iruka, Ayome is shy around new people," I said quickly.
"Who is she?" he asked pointedly.
"Oh, Ayome is my daughter," I said simply.
"When—" he cleared his throat. "When did that happen?"
"It's been awhile," I said lightly. "What was it you needed Iruka?"
"Oh, I just wanted to let Kakashi know that Naruto is back from his training with Jiraiya," Iruka said quickly, moving his gaze from Ayome to me. "I thought he would like to know that."
"I'll tell him as soon as he gets back from his mission," I promised him.
At this point, Ayome tugged on my paints, a questioning look on her face.
"Sweetie, this is Iruka Sensei," I said smiling at her. "He's a good friend of mine and of daddy's. You don't need to be scared of him."
She just stayed behind me, acting shy.
"I'm sorry Iruka, she's usually not like this," I said sadly.
"It's not a problem," he smiled. "It's nice to meet you Ayome. Maybe one day you'll come to the ninja academy!"
She nodded eagerly at this.
"I'll get going; it's getting late," Iruka said. "It was good to see you Saiya."
"You too Iruka," I smiled.
As soon as I had shut the door, Ayome spoke.
"Mommy, he's nice; will he be my teacher?" she asked wide eyed.
"Maybeeeee," I said while picking her up. "I think it's time for bed."
"But I wanna say hi to daddy when he comes home," she pouted.
"I'll come wake you up when he comes home okay sweetie?" I stated.
"Okay mommy," she smiled big and snuggled closer to me.
She yawned and started falling asleep in my arms. I tucked her into bed and quietly made my way back to the kitchen. I made a cup of coffee and sat down on the couch and waited. My gut told me that he would be home tonight, so I elected to stay up. But sleep overtook me even though I had coffee.
I was jerked awake by the sound of the back door shutting. I stood up as quietly as I could and snuck into the kitchen where the back door was located. The door was now shut and there was no one to be seen. I thought that I might have been imagining things until…
"BOO!" a voice caught me by surprise.
"HOLY FLIPPING SHITTAKE MUSHROOMS!" I screamed and grabbed the first thing I saw: a spatula.
I quickly turned around and the lights flipped on.
"Mommy, what's—DADDY YOU'RE HOME!" Ayome shrieked with delight.
I had not noticed her walk in and my screaming probably woke her up.
Kakashi stood behind me holding Ayome in his arms.
"Don't scare me like that!" I said sternly.
"Or what? You'll flip me with the spatula?" he asked pointedly.
I just pouted and put the spatula back where I had found it.
"I'm glad you're home safe Kakashi; we missed you," I smiled a small smile and kissed his cheek.
"Aw that's all I get?" he said a little sadly.
"For now," I smiled evilly.
"Alright, Ayome back to bed," Kakashi said, taking her back to her room.
I went to our bedroom and quickly changed into my pajamas. Kakashi came in moments later and immediately started undressing.
"So, I'm going to take a shower, would you like to join?" he winked at me.
"You're cute Kakashi, but—" and it was at this moment that Ayome walked in.
"Mommy, I wanna sleep with you and daddy tonight," she mumbled sleepily.
I sent Kakashi a 'maybe next time' look, and he disappeared into the shower looking somewhat disappointed. Ayome climbed into bed and snuggled close to me. A few minutes later she was asleep.
Kakashi was in bed minutes later and he leaned over and kissed me passionately.
"Maybe next time then?" he winked at me.
"I promise Kakashi," I smiled. "Love you."
"I love you too," he responded. "So, what happened while I was gone?"
"Oh! Iruka came by. Apparently Naruto is back," I said, yawning. "He wanted to tell you."
"Oh, I'll drop by tomorrow and see him," Kakashi said sleepily.
He kissed a sleeping Ayome's forehead and me one last time before falling asleep.
I just stared at the two most important people in my life and I smiled. Nothing could ruin this for me. Life was perfect.
