Chapter 34: Little Getaway
Misaki threw a stack of t-shirts into her suitcase.
"I don't know what to pack..." Misaki complained. "I never know what's right for these fancy places."
"T-shirts are fine," Takumi said, folding his own clothes and putting them into his suitcase.
Misaki packed a bag of her toiletries and then for makeup, she just grabbed what was on her bathroom counter.
"What else to bring...?" Misaki wondered. "Are you bringing your work with you?" she asked.
"My laptop, just in case," Takumi said. "But I already informed my vice CEO that I don't want to be disturbed unless its a dire emergency."
"Okay," Misaki said, feeling a little smug.
Takumi rested his chin on her shoulder and wrapped his arms around her. "I think you'll be impressed with the resort," he said into her ear.
"I'm not hard to impress," Misaki sighed. "Is this enough shirts for a week?"
"Plenty,"
"Let's see," Misaki said, ticking things off on her fingers. "I have this suitcase of clothes. I have a small suitcase of toiletries and shoes. Then my carry on bag is this tote."
"Sounds about right," Takumi agreed.
"What do you have?"
"Suitcase of clothes, laptop bag, bag for small things," Takumi said.
"Did you bring the camera?"
"And the charger."
Misaki tossed in a few more shorts and zipped up her suitcase. She was about to lift it off the bed when Takumi cut in front of her.
"Please sit down and rest as your strong and able bodied husband loads the luggage into the car," Takumi said, grabbing both huge suitcases.
"What can I carry?" Misaki demanded.
"You, honey, can carry your tote and my laptop bag."
"Fine,"
They headed downstairs and into their garage to load everything. Takumi made a second trip to get the other bags.
"You know you can't carry everything at the airport right?" Misaki asked, watching him shut the trunk.
"I know," Takumi said. "But you can pull your suitcase there. I just don't want you carrying it down the stairs."
"How sweet," Misaki teased, pushing his hair back.
"How about a kiss for a reward?" Takumi suggested.
Misaki purposely kissed him on the cheek and went inside to double check the house. Takumi shook his head and followed her in. Their driver then came and drove them to the airport.
"Misaki!" Sakura called, waving her arms.
Kuuga sat beside her with sunglasses and a cap on.
"Are you excited?!" Sakura squealed.
"Yes!" Misaki exclaimed. "I can't wait!"
"Oh, I hope Ruri gets here soon," Sakura said.
Takumi cleared his throat. "I'll get the luggage ready," he said.
"I'll come with you," Misaki offered.
"No, I got this platform thing," Takumi said, patting the metal thing. "Wait for Ruri with Sakura."
"Okay," Misaki said, sitting down next to Sakura.
"I looked online," Sakura said. "And the resort looks beautiful and we get a whole week to enjoy it! This is like our second honeymoons except we get to all go together!"
"It'll probably be much more fun- not that my honeymoon wasn't!" Misaki quickly added.
"Ouch," Kuuga teased. "Someone's going to have his feelings hurt."
"I didn't mean it like that," Misaki muttered. "Our honeymoon was wonderful."
"Mhmm..." Kuuga said, smirking to himself.
"Misaki! Sakura!" Ruri yelled.
It was her, Tora and Takumi all walking back together.
"Ruri, you're here!" Sakura said, hugging her friend.
"Who's ready to soak up some tropical light?" Ruri asked. "I am just dying to be there already."
"Let's get ready to board then," Sakura said, pointing to the sign.
They had first class seats which offered them a lot of room.
"So, where are we staying?" Misaki asked.
"I got us three individual villas," Kuuga explained to everyone. "Obviously, each couple gets one. They're really open and airy. You could live in it forever. The villas are a short walk apart. I thought some privacy would be nice."
"We should have gotten the big house," Sakura said. "Then we could all be together."
Kuuga cleared his throat and smirked. "Well I purposely choose separate because I don't want to hear what everyone else does at night... You know what I mean?" Kuuga teased.
"Who snores...?" Misaki asked, confused.
Everyone erupted in laughter.
"A-Are you actually pregnant...?" Tora asked, gasping between laughs. "You can not actually be pregnant."
"Oh Misaki," Takumi said, taking her hand.
"What?!" Misaki demanded.
"I never thought that needed to be explained," Kuuga said, wiping his eyes. "Do the honors, Takumi."
Misaki looked over at Takumi who cleared his throat.
"What Kuuga means, sweetheart..." Takumi leaned in so he was whispering in her ear. "He doesn't want to hear your screams and moans when we're-"
"Okay! Okay! Okay!" Misaki said, pushing his head away. "I get it! Peace and quiet!"
Kuuga just shook his head. "Are you a virgin, Misaki?"
"Kuuga," Sakura scolded. "Misaki just doesn't have a dirty mind."
Misaki bit her lip and shrugged. "Oops...?"
Takumi held her hand, completely relaxed.
"Could I offer everyone some refreshments?" a young stewardess asked.
"Yes please," Tora said. "I'd like a champagne."
"Tora," Ruri said. "You really should choose something healthier," she said, touching his shoulder.
"...Fine...Can I have a juice box?" Tora asked.
The stewardess giggled. "Would you like me to put the straw in for you?" she asked.
"It's okay," Ruri said, taking it from her. "I'm use to taking care of my husband. Isn't that right, honey?" Ruri asked, poking the straw into the juice box.
"Mhmm..." Tora said, letting Ruri feed him the juice. "Couldn't live without you, baby."
Takumi smirked. "My wife needs some food," he said. "What do you want, Misaki?"
"Um..." Misaki said. "Can I have a blueberry yogurt and some crackers, please?"
"Of course," she said, handing it to Misaki. "And you, sir?" she asked Takumi with a sweet smile.
Misaki had been secretly laughing at Ruri but when the stewardess turned her eyes on her husband... Uh uh.
"How about some wine?" the stewardess offered.
"No thank you," Takumi said. "I'll take a juice box too and those cookies."
The stewardess handed it to him. Her hand lingered a second more than Misaki would have liked. The stewardess was faintly flirting with all three men but to Misaki's distaste her backwards glance was at Takumi.
Misaki exchanged a look with Ruri and Sakura. Ruri rolled her eyes and nibbled on her chocolate chip muffin.
"Why the silence?" Tora asked.
"Maybe because we're eating," Ruri said, flatly.
"Sorry my bad," Tora said. "Want some of my juice box?"
"No..."
Takumi turned and propped his elbow up on the armrest he and Misaki shared. He rested his chin on his hand and observed Misaki.
"What?" Misaki demanded, ripping open her packet of crackers.
"Just observing."
Misaki glared at him. "Why don't you go stare at someone else," she said, turning to the window.
Takumi chuckled. "Turn around," he whispered.
"Why…?"
"I've never seen your jealous face before."
"I AM NOT JEALOUS!"
Silence...
Misaki blushed red as the entire section of the plane quieted.
"It's cute," Takumi said. "You never get jealous...but over the stewardess?" he kept prodding. "She's a blonde. You know I like girls with dark hair."
"You know you can keep your thoughts to yourself," Misaki glared.
"You know I only have eyes for you," Takumi said, smiling. "You'll be the only one to open my juice boxes for me..."
Misaki tried not to smile but it was too hard. "Did you have to pick such a childish drink?" she asked, examining the little carton.
"It's fruit punch," Takumi cajoled. "Gourmet juicebox."
Misaki laughed. "I guess I'll try a sip..." she said, taking a small sip. "It's just a juice box..." she said.
"But now it's got your touch on it," Takumi said, putting the straw back in his mouth.
"What are you two whispering about over there!" Kuuga called.
"Me?" Misaki asked.
"Yes you..."
"Nothing...we're talking about... Uhh juice boxes..." Misaki said, holding it out.
"Fascinating..."
They had to switch planes once before they finally arrived at the resort. Misaki's t-shirt and shorts fit the weather perfectly. They were warmly greeted and taken down the sunny sidewalk to the villas.
"Wow..." Misaki said, in awe.
The villas were near the ocean and the view was beautiful. She'd never seen water so clear.
"Wow!" Misaki said again.
She kicked off her flip flops and let the sand ooze between her toes.
"Amazing," Sakura breathed, walking beside her.
"Wait till you see the villas," the host said.
The villas were in shouting distance and all had great views of the ocean. Misaki and Takumi's host helped load their luggage into the villa.
Misaki's mouth dropped open when they stepped in. The villa was very airy. There were whole walls missing. Only a gauzy curtain drifting in the breeze would hang over the space. The floors were made of marble and exotic plant pots decorated the corners of the rooms. There was a marble staircase that led upstairs. There were two bedrooms, a study and a huge bathroom.
Misaki touched a pillar and had to pinch herself. This had to be what paradise looked like.
"I will leave you to settle in," the host said. "The restaurant and bar down the sidewalk is open all day. The TV will show all our events for the week. There's a spa, hiking, swimming, and movie nights. Our office is in the entry building. Call if anything isn't right. I hope you enjoy your stay at Musha Cay."
"Thank you," Takumi said.
Misaki didn't even feel like unpacking. After looking around the house some more, she grabbed Takumi's hand and dragged him outside. They ran into the small waves, laughing.
"I told you, you would like it," Takumi said.
Misaki reached down as scooped up the clear water.
"I love it..." she sighed.
"Misaki! Takumi!" Ruri called. "Want to go have lunch?"
"Sure!"
Misaki was starving. The restaurant was very airy too. It was more like eating under a pavilion. The roof was held up by several thick pillars and that was about it.
The waiter took their orders and left. Misaki had no idea what she ordered but knew it was going to be good. She'd glanced over at what other people were eating and she was thoroughly impressed.
The first dish was a crab salad. The waiter promised that the crab was caught only a few hours ago and would be very fresh.
"This is good," Misaki said after the first bite.
"Wait till you try the other courses," Takumi said. "Have you ever had conch?"
"Like the shell?" Misaki asked.
Takumi nodded. "Also Johnny Cakes are considered cuisine here."
Misaki was stuffed after having crab salad, conch soup, and an entree of stuffed lobster. After those dishes had been cleared away, they three couples sampled around a dozen desserts. Each was made with fresh fruit and coconut milk.
After they finished their long meal, there was discussion on what to do next.
"I want to watch the sunrise, the sunset, swim, go on the beach, look at the landscape-" Misaki ticked off.
"Slow down," Takumi teased. "We have a whole week to do all of that."
Misaki blushed. "Sorry, I got a little too excited."
Kuuga stretched out his arms. "Why don't we all go back to our villas and get settled in?" he suggested. "I'm sure the girls are tired from the trip."
They agreed and all returned to their villas. Misaki went inside and crashed onto the leather sofa.
"What are we going to do for the night?" Misaki asked. "I don't want to sleep."
Takumi looked around. "We could test out that jacuzzi," he suggested.
Misaki sat up. "Okay," she said, taking his out stretched hand.
They went up the marble staircase and into their bedroom. Misaki lifted up her suitcase and opened it.
"TAKUMI?!" she shrieked. "These. Are. Not. My. Clothes."
Takumi walked over. "T-shirts turned into designer labels..." he agreed.
Misaki picked up a silk nightgown between her fingers.
"Did we take someone else's suitcase?" Misaki asked. "This are all brand new," she said, looking at the tag.
French labels she couldn't read... Ruri.
"You let her switch my suitcase?!" Misaki exclaimed.
"I'm innocent!" Takumi said, holding up his hands. The smirk on his face gave it away though. "I'm sorry," he laughed. "But she bribed me."
"With what?" Misaki said, putting her hands on her hips.
"She said if I looked the other way, I'd get a whole week of looking at cute Misa Chan."
"You're gross," Misaki said, flatly.
"Misaa Chann!"
"Stop it," Misaki said, rummaging through the suitcase.
Typical Ruri...
Misaki hung the cocktail dresses up in the closet along with the beach dresses, casual clothes and lined her shoes up at the bottom of the closet. Her fingers shifted through more silk until she found a swim suit. It was a deep sophisticated violet color.
"Go away, I'm changing," Misaki said.
"I won't look," Takumi said, stripping off his clothes.
"You always look and wear a swimsuit," Misaki said throwing his swim trunks at him.
"Why? It's just us two."
"Especially when it's just us two," Misaki said, pushing him out of the room.
She changed into the bikini and wrapped her robe around herself. Takumi sat on the edge of the tub and was drawing the water.
"Look at all the fancy devices," Takumi said, poking around.
Misaki hung her robe out. She could see her tiny baby bump in the mirror and she smoothed her hand over her stomach.
"Water's nice and warm," Takumi said, sliding in.
Misaki got in too. The jets of bubbles felt really relaxing. Misaki inhaled and smelled tropical fruits from the bath oil.
"Warm enough?" Takumi asked.
"Yeah," Misaki sighed.
"Come here," Takumi said. "I'll wash your hair for you."
Misaki blushed. "You don't have to-"
"I want to, now come here," Takumi said. "Wet your hair first," he added.
Misaki slid down so she was submerged and then sat back up.
"I guess this is spa day again," Takumi said, massaging shampoo in her hair.
"Where do you learn to wash girls' hair so well?" Misaki asked. "It feels really good."
"I practice on dolls,"
Misaki laughed. "For real...?"
"No, I just play it by ear," Takumi said, running his nails gently across her scalp. "Hey you want to go check out the bed?" he asked.
Misaki ducked her head back into the water and rinsed out the shampoo. Takumi tossed her a towel and they checked out the bedroom. The bed was a large circular shape with a sheer curtain.
"Its like a fairy tale bed," Takumi noted, smoothing the white satin sheets.
The head board had fancy carvings which Misaki found very interesting. She's also never slept on a circular bed before. It was more ovalish but still…
"How about a fairy tale ending for the night?" Misaki asked, kissing Takumi.
