Chapter 7

Karma POV

Since I didn't have time to talk to Amy a whole lot, I decided to leave her blushing a shade of red that you find in the sky during the summer. And boy, did I do a good job.

First hour was about to begin and I had my music appreciation class. Since I always finished my work early, I used the remaining time of the period to work on the music for Sunday services. My dad was the local pastor, so I, of course was involved in his service somehow. I always had a passion for music and I always wrote my own songs. I believe in God, but I don't care for Sunday service. Especially the way my dad discusses certain things. However, I want people to hear the way I play music, even if every verse I sing is about Jesus or the bible.

I like to live my life in the way I want to, not how my dad says I should. So in a sense, I'm a bit rebellious. People around town think I'm the innocent daughter to Reverend Ashcroft, but I guess they don't know me at all.

"Did you go to Liam Booker's party the other day?" a boy in my class asked me.

"Yes, I did." I replied and instantly smiled. I couldn't help but remember how much fun I had dancing with Amy, even if it was for a short time.

"Word is he is throwing an even bigger party soon. Gonna be off the hook." the boy said.

"Well then you know I'll be there." I said to him.

Everyone at knew who my family was. They knew my father and they also knew that I wasn't the innocent girl that I play on Sunday morning. However, pretty much every partier at Hester went to my dad's service, against their will, so everyone plays an innocent teenager Sunday morning, not just me.

Class ended and I went to my locker during passing period to see if Amy was there. She was. There was time to kill so I decided to go talk to her.

"Need a little help there?" I asked as she fumbled her textbooks.

"Gravity isn't my best friend, as you can see." she grunted.

"Well thankfully you have an oh so nice locker mate to help you out." I smiled.

Amy smiled in relief and she looked so cute doing it.

"Thanks for that. I was probably about to pay a lot of money in damages if I dropped any of these books again." Amy sighed.

"It's no problem." I replied. "But if you really wanna thank me, you'll give me something."

A confused look shot across her face and she turned red instantly.

"Annnnddd what exactly would that be?" she asked.

I took out my phone and put it on a new contact setting.

"I'd like you number." I blushed.

She let out a nervous and loud laugh as if she had been holding it in all day.

"Yeah, of course. Sure. For sure." Amy stuttered.

The warning bell rang so she put it in quickly.

"I'll text you. No wait, you'll have to text me because I don't have your number." she said.

"And I definitely will." I said.

As Amy walked away I couldn't help but smile. Something about her was different. I didn't know if I was attracted to her awkward personality or her overall good looks. She was seriously gorgeous. I didn't know too much about her but I hoped to after giving her my number.

Growing up I had always had "boyfriends" and it wasn't until I got to high school that I started to notice girls. I tried the long distance secret girlfriend thing, but people found out about it somehow. Luckily, we all somehow in a weird way, have each other's backs at Hester so it stayed a secret in the halls of this school and my parents have no idea about it. Man, it wouldn't settle too well with them. I then had a fling with Liam Booker, but that's all it was. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the sex part, but it was meaningless and didn't seem real. I saw something in Amy that made me feel attracted to her, thus why I danced with her at the party.

I was still trying to figure myself out. I didn't want to be known as the Reverend's daughter. As much as I loved Nicholas Sparks movies and books, this wasn't A Walk to Remember.

I was me. Karma Ashcroft. I was gonna do whatever it took to make myself happy.

A/N: I decided to make this chapter in Karma's point of view. She is a bit different, but still has similar characteristics as the show. A little funny how Karma's dad is a pastor in this story and the complete opposite of that in the show! Anyways, hope you enjoyed!
