I hope you're as excited for this next part as I am! :)
"I won't let you kill him," a deep voice said and Jack opened his crimson eyes to see a blonde haired, honey eyed man.
"Hotsuma," he said, "it's not worth it. You're fighting a losing battle. The world is better off without me. Look what I've done. Look at my partner. Look at your comrade! I caused nothing but trouble!"
"No," Hotsuma said, "You look."
Jack lifted his head to see Danny in the arms of Yuki, a soft glow admitting from the small boy, causing Danny's large laceration to close up slowly. Then he looked to Luka who was now being protected by Shusei, who stood with his sword in defense of him, both men that had been restraining him knocked out cold.
"You didn't cause it. They started this fight but you had people who believed in you enough to back you up. I thought you were a monster but I was wrong. You're like me. Everyone treated me like I was an atrocity, like I should have never been born and you're the exact same way," Hotsuma said.
Hotsuma's eyes softened as he turned to Jack.
"We were all wrong. You're not a bad person, just a good person in a bad place, thrown out into the world like you were nothing and you never had a chance. But you do and I'll stand behind you," Hotsuma said.
"We never even listened to your story," Shusei said, "No one did but they were ready to watch you die like you were nothing. It's not right."
"This fighting got us where we are now," Yuki said holding Danny closer trying to keep the bleeding down, "we're supposed to be working together not tearing each other apart. It's got to stop."
"So we'll protect you," Shusei and Hotsuma said.
Tsukumo and Toko drew their weapons.
"As will we," Tsukumo said readying for a fight.
"And there's no way you're leaving us out," Kuroto said.
"He means we'll stand behind you too," Senshirou said drawing his weapon.
Relief flooded through Jack as he looked at his healing lover. He'd been so afraid but also reluctant to admit it. He thought he was going to lose him forever. His eyes softened and he felt a weight being lifted off him as others helped him to carry the burden.
"Are you gonna pick up your sword and fight or are you gonna give up?" Hotsuma asked smirking.
Jack picked up his sword and raised it.
"I won't let you down," he promised.
"You'd better not," Hotsuma said and turned to fight.
Some of the Zweilts retreated realizing they were fighting a losing battle but others kept on relentlessly attacking the defenders, aiming a few good hits that slowed the other team. A loud crash was heard and everyone turned to the door where Davi's glare was pinning each and every Zweilt to their spot.
"What did I tell you about fight?" Davi roared in anger as he saw his Zweilts bloody from battle.
"He's an abomination!" one Zweilt dared to argue.
"It doesn't matter what you think," a voice hissed, sending shivers down everyone's spine as Nikki came into view, "You have no right."
"He shouldn't be here!" another gained the courage to speak up.
"That wasn't your choice to make!" Nikki seethed, almost growling her words out.
"And how says it's yours?" another added.
Nikki's eyes narrowed and she swung her pinning glare to Davi.
"Three days," she warned.
"What?" Davi asked.
"You have three days to get the Zweilts who talked back out of here or I'm going to kill them, no questions asked," Nikki snarled.
"You can't be-," Davi started to argue.
"I'm dead fucking serious!" Nikki roared unable to keep her calm any longer, "If they're not out of here by Friday I'm killing them and anyone responsible and seeing as how it's mostly your Zweilts fighting you'd do good to heed my words and get them out of here now!"
Davi gritted his teeth.
"Fine," he finally agreed after staring down Nikki for some odd minutes.
"What?" the same brown haired, green eyed Zweilt asked," you can't be serious!"
Nikki spun around and glared at him.
"I'm serious and after I'm finished with you they'll realize just how easy they got off," Nikki raged and the Zweilt didn't have time to do anything before Nikki's spell was sent off and the boy was cloaked in flame. The Zweilts stood around listening to the wailing of the Zweilt caught up in fire, afraid to move an inch in fear of retaliation. Finally Yuki couldn't stand in anymore.
"Please stop!" he yelled with tears in his eyes, "This isn't right!"
Nikki spun around and came face to face with him. Yuki was scared but firmly stood his ground against her.
"If you do this now you're as bad as they are," Yuki said, "It's not worth this."
The flame ceased and the Zweilt fell to the ground, second and third degree burns covering seventy percent of his body.
"I don't get it," her eyes narrowed and she turned to the rest of the Zweilts, "You could all sit and watch your comrade burn to death but a Zweilt from a random group and the friend of the person you were trying to kill can stand up and say no even knowing the danger. I want you all to sit and think about that. How can you live with yourselves?"
She turned and left all the shamed faces staring down at their feet unable to answer her.
"Get him to the infirmary," Nikki said, "Make sure he doesn't die, and tell him to count his blessings there was someone with compassion in the room because I have none for him. Then get rid of him like the other three."
She left the room leaving everyone with heavy hearts.
REVIEW PLEASE! The next chapter will probably tell Jack's story and then an overview of how everyone's fairing.
