Wow guys, you really are amazing! You gave me 26 reviews all in all! 26! Do you believe that? You know, my first story, got 23 reviews, and it took me 16 chapters! But this story, it only took like what? 3 chapters? You should really send in more reviews! Anyway, I'm sorry about the late update, I have tons of reasons but I don't want to say it. Anyway, R&E!
Jay's P.O.V.
As I watched Kai leave with the Serpentine, I can't help but feel angry at myself. Why didn't I do anything to save him? Why was I such a scaredy-cat to not stand up to Skales or his Constrictai servants?! Why didn't least talk some sense into my brother?!
I sighed, letting most of my inner turmoil out. There's no point in getting angry at yourself, Jay. Whether or not you scold yourself, Kai's still with the stupid Serpentine headed to Ouroboros by now. Besides, it isn't your job to get angry. That's Kai's thing, not mine.
"Jay?" I was slightly surprised to hear Lloyd's voice. When I turned to him, I only now noticed that Lloyd was in a rough condition. What's worse is that the boy was shaking from head to toe. He must have been terrified. It isn't healthy for a young kid to experience a near-to-death situation.
"Is Uncle Wu gonna be alright?" I blinked. Uncle..? Oh yeah, Sensei Wu's his uncle. I glanced at Sensei. He looked like he was in pretty bad shape. His whole body was tinged red, and I bet his whole face was sunburnt. His wrinkly body was now dry and wrinkly and he was out cold. (Or out hot, since he passed out because of heat.)
"Yeah, he's gonna be alright. We just got to get him out of this desert." I assured Lloyd. I pondered. Where should I take him? Well, anywhere colder, I guess. I grabbed Sensei's body, attempting to carry him. I was surprised by his weight. Geez, for a seemingly thin old man he sure weighs a ton.
"Hey Lloyd, help me out here." I said. Lloyd quickly came to my aid. We dragged Sensei's unconscious body until we arrived in Sensei's bedroom...or well, meditating/tea drinking/vision seeing room. We laid him on his um...'bed', which was a bed frame with a single blanket laid on it...and I thought my bed was uncomfortable.
"I'm going upstairs to turn on the air conditioner." I said to Lloyd. "Do you wanna come with me or...?" Lloyd shook his head, understanding.
"I'll stay here and keep an eye out for Uncle Wu." He answered. I nodded.
"Well, you can just adjust the temperature using the thermostat in the corridor." I said wearily. "Just...you know, try not to break it because I know how much you love destroying things. Just saying that Nya worked hard on installing that." I said. Lloyd rolled his eyes.
"Okay, okay, I get it, don't destroy anything." Lloyd groaned. "Lightning mouth." I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Watch it kid. I'm still in charge, now that I'm the oldest one here." I said. Lloyd glanced at Sensei Wu. "That's awake." I added. Lloyd sighed. I glanced nervously outside the room, feeling very awkward.
"Just...shout when something bad happens. Okay, kid?" I said, not wanting a repeat of what happened earlier. "I don't want anyone else to get hurt." Lloyd seemed to understand and nodded. I smiled gratefully before heading upstairs. I know it would be better if Sensei Wu was to be put in a cooler climate, but I want to check on the guys first to see if they were okay. Besides Nya was...
I blinked. That's right, Nya isn't here yet! I grabbed my cellphone, which was really, really underused. Nya gave me her number, right? I grinned when I saw her number, and tried calling her.
Sorry, but I'm busy right now. If it's really important, just leave a message. Thanks! Her recorded voice said through the cell phone.I sighed. I hate using voice mail, but I guess I have no choice.
Zane's P.O.V.
Something seems wrong. Very, very wrong. My sixth sense tells me that something bad happened to Jay and the others in the Destiny's Bounty, but I have no idea what. I hope for the first time, my sixth sense is wrong, and they are all perfectly fine. We'd soon find Fangtom and retrieve his staff, and we'll quickly return home and Kai would be back to normal, but my sixth sense just strongly disagrees.
I shook off my dreaded feeling of worry before carrying on inside the dark tunnel. Originally, Cole and I were supposed to be looking for the staff together, but once he saw a huge gaping hole in the sand, he wanted me to go check on it. It was a wise decision, since snakes tend to burrow underground.
Somehow, I could see my way perfectly, without any form of light with me. It was one of the mysteries of myself that even I cannot answer. Everything seemed normal until I encountered some strange writings on the wall. It definitely wasn't hieroglyphics or greek.
No, it was actually drawings placed together to make it seem like writings. Once I examined it carefully, I can conclude that these drawings depict a prophecy. From what I can decipher, the snakes believed that a symbolic flame; the Chosen One, I may say, would come and bring glory to the Serpentine...
...But it was terrifying what would have to happen first before they could experience their glory. They wanted the Chosen One to burn down the whole world, and everything in it, so that the Serpentine can have the whole world to themselves, without having to share it with anyone.
I widened my eyes in realization. Could that be the reason...No, it can't be, can it? Before I could assure myself that everything was fine, that they were all safe back in the Bounty, I felt a familiar warm sensation. A feeling I always seem to notice while he was around, probably because our two elements were always opposite.
I turned around. My sixth sense had been right all along. I became weary of the person standing next to me, feeling an evil aura that wasn't supposed to be there.
"Why aren't you with the others?" I asked, an accusing and nervous tone hidden somewhere in my voice. The person in front of me sneered.
"I was given orders." He merely shrugged. I was about to respond, but then I was suddenly hit near the throat. Suddenly, no matter how much I tried, I couldn't breathe. Bi Gi...Someone used the Bi Gi technique. It was a technique that temporarily disables you're opponent from breathing. I furrowed my eyes in confusion. But the person before me didn't even move. Who delivered the blow? I opened my mouth to say something, but I was already running out of air.
"Sweet dreams, Zane." The person before me said, before darkness took over.
Cole's P.O.V.
I think it's official: I am now creeped out by this place. When I parted from Zane, I ended up inside the center of the city….and it was definitely giving me the heebie-jeebies. It didn't help that the sun was going down, giving creepy shadows to the creepy things that rested here.
If you want a description of this place, then I'll give it to you: insects, cobwebs, and the skeletons of all different types of creatures. I even saw the skeletons of creatures I doubt even exist anymore! Man, the Serpentine don't know a thing when it comes to cleaning up their city. I tensed when I heard a voice scream my name.
"COLE!" I screamed a very loud (but very manly, if I might add) scream. Who was that? I sighed in relief when I saw that it was just Jay. Getting over my shock, I furrowed my eyebrows at Jay.
"Jay? What are you doing here?" I said, crossing my arms. "You were supposed to be with Kai and Lloyd, remember?" Jay looked like he ran all the way from the Bounty to get here.
"That's...what...I...need...to-Ugh!" Jay collapsed, gasping for air. I raised an eyebrow at him while I looked over him.
"Uh, you alright Jay?" I asked, only slightly worried about him, since, I figured, he was overdramatic. He stood up.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine!" Jay said, or rather, very loudly exclaimed. "I need to talk to you about...about-" Jay widened his eyes, pointing behind me.
"Kai!" He exclaimed, a big smile on his face. Kai had no reaction to him. I grew furious. Both of them disobeyed my orders?!
"Who's looking after Lloyd?!" I demanded, raising an eyebrow. Both my brothers ignored me.
"Kai, how did you escape?!" Jay asked, his voice filled with relief. Kai merely raised an eyebrow.
"I didn't." He deadpanned. I furrowed my eyebrows.
"What's going on here?!" I asked the both of them. Jay looked absolutely confused. I was ignored, yet again, by both of them.
"You-you didn't...?" He asked, looking at Kai with disbelief. He smirked. I was getting more and more frustrated with each passing second.
"For the last time, what in Ninjago's name is going on here?!" I demanded. Kai smirked at me.
"You'll see soon." Was his only answer.
"I don't think-" He suddenly lunged at me, completely letting my guard down. I grabbed my scythe for defense.
"Kai, what are you-" Jay stopped half-way, because he saw Kai glare at him. I saw Jay's expression turn from confused, to nervously scared.
"Shut up, you bird-brained lightning mouth!" Kai snapped. He pointed his Sword of Fire at Jay, surrounding him in flames. Jay yelped. That was it. Kai had gone completely bonkers and it was up to me to know why. I brought my scythe to the ground, moving the earth. As expected, rocks surrounded Kai's body, trapping him. I stomped over to him, ready to give him a piece of my mind.
"Kai! What do you think you're doing?!" I demanded. He was struggling to get out of the rocks. He threw a venomous glare at me. I backed up slowly. If looks could kill...
"Let me answer that later." He snapped. Suddenly, the rocks were engulfed in heat. Before I knew it, the rocks exploded, freeing its former prisoner. I readied my scythe. Kai slashed his sword at me. I blocked it with my scythe. He was the one who kept making the first move, while I just tried my best to defend myself. I can't hurt him! No matter how annoying he tends to be, he's my brother.
"Come on Cole, is that the best you got?" He mocked.
"Kai, what's gotten into you?" I asked, even though I knew he wouldn't answer. I knew just how short Kai's temper was, especially during battle. It wasn't long until I noticed that he was getting frustrated at our little slash-and-defend game.
"Enough games, earth ninja." Kai said, and shot flames at me. I dodged just in time, but when I looked back to face my opponent, a heavy blow was delivered to my stomach. I held it tight in pain, trying to keep my vision steady. I didn't know Kai could deliver such a blow.
"Ninjago!" Kai exclaimed, using his Spinjitzu on me. Before I could even react, I was knocked out cold.
Nya's P.O.V.
I have no idea why we're doing this. This place is a ghost town, and I hate how we're staying here...in the dark. The sun went down hours ago, making the town completely pitch black, apart from the things that touched the light of my Samurai suit.
It may not be obvious, but I hate the dark. My phobia most likely started when I experienced being in the underworld. No sunlight for days, only the creepy silhouettes of the skeletons...but I don't want to remember that now. I have to focus on getting the Fanpyre general's staff, and at the same time, getting some answers.
I was searching in the part of Ouroboros where the serpentine used to live. Well, if the Serpentine used to live here, maybe some wanted to live here again? I mean, it's highly impossible that the Serpentine can find somewhere other than here (or the Underground) to live in. Although I could tell that some of the structures looked like really, really old stone, I knew it was a perfect place for a serpent to live in.
Then, I came across one house that stood apart from the rest. It was definitely bigger, and this one has color, purple, if I might add. It wasn't like the other houses that were just purely made out of rocks the color of sand. No, this house was big, colorful, and lively. Well, as lively as it gets here in Ouroboros. This must have belonged to someone special.
I decided to go in, curiosity getting the better of me. When I entered, there were so many writings on the wall. There were also a few statues now and then about serpentine. All the statues seemed to be of Serpentine from the different tribes, most of them from the Anacondrai tibe.
The snake who lived here must have really liked history, because those statues had names written below them, with the date of their birth and the date of their death. Plus, the tribe they belonged to. The statues were actually creeping me out a bit, but who wouldn't get nervous around 8 feet snake statues, other than the snakes themselves? I went up the ladder, not stairs. Whether stairs didn't exist back then, or the guy just really likes his home to stand apart from the rest. The room I was in now was so spacey.
The sad part about the room, though, is that the bed was made out of all kinds of animal skins. I could tell they were real because the room's décor had all sorts of animal heads that resembled the animal skins. The poor creatures...
"This guy is a monster." I muttered in disgust. I tried to ignore the disgusting décor and examined the room. At the bedside, I noticed a small book. Fortunately, it was written in English, and was not made of animals skin. I opened the book and was instantly attracted to it. It was a journal. I scanned its contents, trying not to think of myself as one of those girls I'd encountered that loved invading people's privacy, and stopped when I saw an interesting entry.

Today some Serpentine have made a...rather interesting discovery. They encountered a prophecy that was about a powerful, fiery force that can destroy the whole surface of the world...but to unlock it, we must find and rely on a human with a special power over the element of fire. I am disgusted that some Serpentine actually prefer it over the Great Devourer! The Great Devourer is a fellow snake, so he would be much more trustworthy and reliable than a pathetic human.
Why would we even begin to trust a human to unlock this force? Humans are just pesky, irritating little creatures who refuse to believe that the Serpentine are the dominant race! I hope the other Serpentine tribes will get past this nonsense and forget about it, especially the Hypnobrai tribe. We Anacondrai and Hypnobrai are known to rarely disagree, but it seems that they are the tribe who believes in this so-called prophecy the most. No matter, I think as General of all Serpentine, I may be able to get some sense in their small and gullible minds.
Serpentine General,
Apophis II'
I raised an eyebrow. The previous Serpentine General seriously wrote in a journal? If this was a lighter situation, I would have burst out laughing. No wonder this place had all those creepy statues. This is the house of a previous Serpentine general! Not just some fancy, rich, annoying snake, but a powerful, rich, annoying general. The prophecy written there seemed to bother me though.
A human with a special power over the element of fire? Could that mean that the Serpentine kidnapped Kai on purpose? Could the Fangpyre have bitten him so he would be a snake...and be the Chosen One in the prophecy? My mind had so many questions, but the most worrisome was reaching the surface of my mind: Is my brother still safe, normal, and human in the Destiny's Bounty?
Alright, I'll put this chapter to a stop. I hope that paid off for my long disappearance. Anyway, Zane fans, I hoped you liked Zane's P.O.V., but I'm sorry if it's short. There's a reason behind it actually, Zane was the first to encounter the mysterious figure, *cough*Kai*cough* and being knocked out cold with little communication just makes it more dramatic, so I guess you should be happy that your fave character is in one of the most dramatic parts of the chapter. Anyway, I'm sorry again for the late update and R&R!
