Chapter 5: Magic & Demons

(Tori's Pov)

I turn around to see Paige standing there looking at me with sadness in her eyes. Why does she always look at me like that?

I heard a loud sigh and I saw the ghost looking at me and Paige. She gave me an empty smile as she shook her head.

"She can't see me." The woman said with a sad voice.

"Tori who are you talking to?" Paige asked me.

"Don't tell her I'm here." The woman told me, it sounded more like a command, and I nodded. There's no way I'm getting on the ghost's bad side.

"I, no one." I told her as I close the book.

"What where you doing? Did you read something in the book?" Paige asked me.

"No. I was just looking, sorry." She studied my face before she nodded.

"Its fine just don't touch it, okay." I nodded and the ghost walked right through me. My whole body shiver.

"Victoria, I don't trust you there's something evil within you, but how can you touch the book?" The woman asked me. I didn't know what to say or if I should say anything at all so I started talking to Paige.

"What am I?" I asked Paige, I was afraid of the answer, and I wasn't sure if I really wanted to know. Paige gave me a small smile as she avoided my question.

"Come with me." Paige grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the attic. The ghost silently followed us.

She took me straight to the kitchen where her other sisters where already waiting.

"Sit." She told me as she stood by her sisters. All of them looked at me before Phoebe spoke.

"I know this is going to sound crazy but we're witches and it seems like you're also a witch, or a demon." I looked at her dumbfounded what does that even mean?

"What?" They must have seen the confusion on my face because Paige spoke up.

"My sister Phoebe can see into the past and the future. She had a premonition and you undeniably used magic, but your power was that of a demon." A demon? I'm a demon? The question kept repeating in my mind.

"I went and asked the elders, my bosses, if they knew anything about you. But as usual they didn't." Paige said.

"They never know anything, do they actually watch over humanity?" I had completely forgotten about the ghost until she gave the snarky remark.

I turn around and she was leaning casually on the wall.

"You should really be paying attention to them." Just after the ghost said that I felt Paige's hand on my shoulder.

"Are you even listening?" She asked me.

"Sorry, this is too much to take." Paige nodded and the oldest sister spoke.

"How about we take a break from all this magical talk?" Paige nodded but Phoebe shook her head.

"Piper we don't know what she is, and if my vision is any sign of what she can do, she's dangerous." I'm dangerous?

"Phoebe please, it's clear that she doesn't know anything about magic. Remember how hard it was for us at first? We didn't want to believe in magic, demons, or anything out of the normal." Phoebe looked at me before agreeing.

"Fine."

Paige took a chair and set by my side. Phoebe and Piper set at the other side of the table.

"So want to tell us a little about yourself?" Piper asked. I was still so confused, one second we're talking about magic, and the next second we're talking about my life? Who are these women?

"What do you want me to say?" I asked her she gave me a gentle smile as she answered.

"You can tell us anything." I look at the three of them and even though I never met them before; I felt like I could tell them everything about me.

"Well my name is Victoria Vega, I'm in my second year of high school. I have a pretty normal life, two loving parents, and an older sister. I'm just your average teenager, well I was." I tell them. They all nod in understanding and Phoebe gives me a small smile.

"Have you had any weird dreams lately?" Phoebe and the ghost asked me at the same time. The ghost was standing behind Piper now. She looked at phoebe before her eyes landed on mine.

"Why?" I asked. Piper answered.

"When we first received our powers we would have this weird dreams that didn't make sense at the time. We later found out that it was a demon trying to get our powers." Demon? Could that guy have been a demon?

"I know I said no magical talk, but if Paige brought you here it has to be for a reason. Maybe you're our next charge, so please tell us if something weird has happened to you."

"I don't know, something happened to me but it didn't seem like a dream." I answer.

"What happened?" Paige asked me as she grabbed my hand.

"I thought that I was dreaming at first I was in a cave with weird symbols this "man" he called me a whitelighter? And he-" I was interrupted by an immense pain in my head and I could hear Cat's voice. Paige immediately stood up and touch my forehead.

"What's wrong?" Piper asked.

"Cat's in danger." Paige told them as we both disappear in bright blue orbs. We found ourselves in the attic where there where three men surrounding cat.

Paige looked at me, and I could see confusion in her eyes. She immediately looked back at the three men and she raised her hand.

"Dagger" Paige said and a dagger appeared covered in blue orbs of light. Paige moved her hand and the dagger was sent straight to one of the man's head. The man screamed as he turned to dust.

"Witch. You'll regret that." One of them said as he pulled Cat and disappeared with her.

"You'll never see her again. Her power will be ours." The second man said as he disappeared.

"Damn!" Paige said as she went and grabbed the book.

"Paige what happened?" The other two sisters asked at the same time.

"Two demons took Cat." She told them. I took a seat on the couch and everything seemed to be moving too slow.

"What's wrong?" the ghost asked me. I looked at her and I immediately regret it, even though I had only looked up, it felt like I had been hit with a bat.

The headache increased and I felt my body on fire. Cat! Cat was in danger, could they be hurting her?

"Have you tried sensing her?" Phoebe asked and Paige nodded sadly.

"I have and I can't sense her at all. She's probably on the underworld." Paige told them, but I wasn't really paying attention to them. I could hear Cat's screams, and I could feel how scared she was.

I tried to stand up but I fell, I barely cover my face with my hands as I hit the floor.

"Tori! Victoria!" Paige and the ghost screamed at the same time. Paige immediately pulled me up and laid me on the couch. She touched my forehead.

"You have a fever." She told me but I felt the pain increasing.

"I'll get you some medicine." Piper said but I shook my head as I stood up slowly.

"Tori lay down please." I shook my head.

"Cat's in danger. I have to help her. She's hurting." I answer as I heard Cat screaming my name.

"We'll find her just lay down." Phoebe said as she also tried to get me to sit down. But I only shook my head stubbornly. I can't lay down Cat needs me.

"Tori!" I heard Cat scream my name and I grabbed my head it hurt too much. I closed my eyes and I heard Paige screaming my name but it sounded so far away. I opened my eyes and I was in a dark cave just like last time.

"So you are a whitelighter." I turned around and I saw the ghost behind me.

"What, why are you here?" I didn't know how to ask but the ghost seemed to understand me.

"It seems that we're stuck together for a while. But that's not important right now. Let's go we have to find your friend." She told me as she passed in front of me we walked aimlessly for a few minutes until we heard some voices the ghost immediately touched my arm.

"You have to go back and tell Piper, Phoebe, and Paige." She told me but I didn't listen as I walked closer and saw Cat, her clothes were all ripped and they barely cover her body. One of the demons smirked as he appeared a fireball in his hand.

"It's always fun to hear the little witches scream." He said as he threw the fireball at her.

"Cat!" I screamed as I saw the fireball hitting her stomach she screamed as she hit the wall. Her eyes closed and I ran by her side.

"Cat! Wake up! Cat!" I screamed but she wouldn't wake up.

I heard one of the demons laughing and I gently laid Cat down.

"You'll regret hurting her." I tell them and they start to laugh again.

"What are you going to do!? What can you do?" One of them asked me and I feel my anger rising. My whole body starts shaking and my thoughts become darker as I realize that I want to kill them, I want to make them suffer for what they did to Cat.

I raise my arm and one of the demons screamed in pain as he gets covered in a black flame. He doesn't die instantly the fire consumes him slowly.

There were seven demons in total, well six now.

"What the hell are you?" One of them asked me.

I don't answer as my body moves on its own, I stand in front of him and I grab his throat. His flesh starts burning and he screams, one of them disappeared from my sight. I didn't have to look to know that he was behind me.

"Die witch!" He screams but he's too slow I change places with the demon that I had grabbed and he gets stab right in the heart. Both burst into flames as the dark fire consumes them both.

It felt good, too good. They were paying for what they did to Cat, all of them where going to die, no one would escape. My thoughts were getting darker and I wanted, no I needed to destroy them, to show them why they should never touch my friends.

The other four threw fireballs at me, and all I had to do was to disappear behind them, and I tried to do what Paige did when she called for the dagger. But instead of calling for a weapon I said what I wanted to happen to them.

"Burn." That's all I said and the four of them got engulfed in black fire. I heard their screams and I couldn't help but smirk, they got what they deserve. Maybe I should show all of them what will happen if they mess with me.

I was about to walk out of the cave when I heard my name.

"Victoria! Where are you going Cat needs help! " I turn around and I saw the ghost by Cat's side. I didn't listen, because I was helping Cat. I was going to make every one of them for hurting Cat.

"I'll be right back I just need to show them a lesson." I said and even though I shouldn't have felt anything because she was a ghost, I felt the sting of the slap as she hit me.

"Snap out of it! We have to take her to Paige or she's going to die!" And that did it, I immediately run to Cat's side. I hugged her close as I kept thinking that I almost let her die.

"How do we get out of here!?" I asked the ghost.

"Just close your eyes and try to feel Paige." She told me.

"How do I do that?" I asked her and she touched my arm.

"Just close your eyes and think of Paige, think of how badly you want to be where she is." I closed my eyes and I thought of Paige, of the only person who could save Cat. I felt a tingling sensation and I opened my eyes to find myself in front of the three sisters.

"Tori!" Paige screamed as she saw me and Cat on the floor.

"Save her please!" I told her she kneeled in front of Cat and she put her hands just above her wounds a white light appeared and Cat's wounds started to heal.

My body felt heavy, I felt exhausted, almost like my whole energy was spent. Cat opened her eyes and she hugged me tight.

"Tori! Tori!" She kept screaming in my shoulder as she cried.

"It's okay Cat, you're safe now. I won't let anyone hurt you." We lasted a few minutes before she pulled away from me.

"What happened to the demons?" She asked me. I gave her a small smile as I shook my head.

"They won't hurt you anymore." She didn't seem to understand what I was implying. Paige, Piper, and Phoebe gave me an understanding look. They knew I had killed them.

"They won't attack me again?" She asked me and I nodded.

"They won't. They're far away, you're safe." She smiled as she gave me another hug. My vision was becoming blurry but I had to stay strong, for Cat.

"Thank you Tori. I'm glad you came when I called for you." Cat told me as she stood up.

"Let's get you into nicer clothes." Phoebe told Cat.

"Okay." Cat answered and they walked out of the attic. Piper, Paige, and the ghost kept looking at me.

"You should tell them what you did." The ghost told me but I didn't say anything. We stayed like that for a few seconds.

"What happened?" Paige finally asked and I tried to stand up but I stood up a little too fast, I ended up almost falling a second time, if it wasn't for Paige who grabbed me I would have hit my head on the floor.

"Sorry, I" and that's all I said as I lose consciousness on Paige's arms.
