This is not the season finale, if I continue on, it will just be too long. Sorry if this disappoint you... ;-;
Sorry if I don't update as fast as I can anymore, It's just that I'm too busy practicing how to dance (I'm forced to, alright? I don't even want to have anything to do with it but what can I do?)
So yeah, every time I used go home, I update as fast as I can but nowadays, I go home exhausted from the dance that I don't even want to do in the first place.
So yeah, I split it to two so that this story will end at an even number.
Anyway, hope you enjoy reading~
By morning, the group are following Arvo towards the house. Kenny, still bickering with Arvo, unknowingly walks past a walker lying dormant behind a rock, which gets up and attempts to attack him, sending both the walker and Kenny to the ground. Duck successfully shoots it and saves Kenny.
Bonnie expresses concern over the noise of the gunshot and the potential of drawing more walkers to their location. Arvo says that the house is very close, and after a short walk, he points out the unfinished house, which is barely fit to be a shelter. The house itself stands at the other end of a frozen lake,
"That piece of shit? It's half built." Kenny points out.
"We're here for the supplies." Jane reasons. "Not the house."
"Are we just gonna walk over?" Mike asks, looking around worriedly.
Realizing that there are no nearby crossings, and at the insistence of Arvo that the ice is thick enough for them to cross over, the group decide to cross the lake, with Arvo volunteering to take the lead.
As they begin to slowly cross the lake, Jane eventually notices a small group of walkers following them, "We got some walkers behind us." Jane warns.
As clusters of walkers begin to fall through the ice, the group pauses in panic. Arvo, seeing an opportunity while the group distracted, begins to desperately run towards land. while an angered Kenny follows suit. "Get back here, you piece of shit!"
Arvo crosses a weak spot and and plunges in to the icy water, struggling to get back out. Kenny catches up to him and pulls him out, "I should let you drown, you piece of shit."
As Arvo and Kenny made it along with Mike, Aj and Sarah, it's only the 5 of them left.
And Duck, like everyone else, is walking slowly and carefully. But he was not that focus, though.
He was not that shocked anymore. But instead, he was confused and somewhat pissed. He knows that the 'kiss' was a shocking experience for both him Clementine. But that doesn't give her the right for avoiding him!
Not to mention it was her fault for the kiss in the first place! What does she want him to do anyway?! Apologize for stealing her first kiss?! Oh hell no, like he said earlier, it was her fault in the first place! He's the victim here!
Duck snaps out of his thoughts at the sound of ice cracking. Looking at the ground, he sighs in relief. But the look of relief disappears on his face as he glances over to Luke. Oh shit... He thought to himself.
"Don't come over here." Luke warns as both Clementine and Bonnie try to approach him. The two look at each other before Luke continues. "H-hey, I can make it, it's fine..."
"Ya sure..?" Bonnie worriedly asks.
"Yeah.." Luke looks behind, seeing walkers behind him.
"You got walkers on the way, let me help you-"
"It's too thin for both of us..I just gotta be care-" Luke tries escape, but his foot fell on the ice. Cutting his words off.
"Luke, no!" Bonnie yells as her and Clementine run to Luke.
"N-no, no, stop!" Luke warns them yet again. "I'm fine, I'm fine!"
While Bonnie tells Clem to try and help him as she may not carry much weight but Luke tells her not to and instead to just keep the walkers off him while he tries to get out himself. Duck has another plan in mind.
Duck slowly and carefully sneaks up behind Luke, reaching for the strap on his back.
Clementine notices him. "Duck?! What are you doing?!"
"Okay, now you're noticing me?!" Duck angrily remarks, before grabbing Luke's strap and pulling him from the ice hole. Little do they know, the ice behind them is thin.
Which results in Duck breaking the ice (Ba dum tss) and falls through the cold ass water.
Shit, I don't know how to float or swim! I knew I should have stuck with those swimming lessons! He thought to himself, while flailing his arms and legs wildly.
Okay...remember what they taught you... He attempts to calm down. Take a deep breath.. Oh wait no, I'm in underwater for fuck's sake!
He managed to calm down and mentally took a deep breath, before swimming upward to the ice. He persistently bangs his hand against it in an attempt to break it. With one last bang, he mentally sighs. Well, at least I'll be Jack Frost...Never mind, I'll just continue this. He bangs the ice yet again.
Meanwhile, Clementine stares in shock, before hearing a banging nearby. Rushing over, she sees a desperate Duck below the ice, banging on the ice.
Clementine breaks the ice, and she tumbles into it. Only to discover...Duck looking at her with a disappointed look while crossing his arms. Geez, thanks for saving me, Clem. His face says it all. Especially the sarcasm.
"I'll grab Clementine, you grab the other kid." Jane orders as she and Luke rush over to the hole that Clementine recently fell in.
They both crouch down, scanning down for the two children that fell through.
"I..I can't see any them..." Luke looks around worriedly. "Shit, do you think they could have drowned?"
"What's happenin' out there?" Kenny asks while still pointing his pistol at the Russian teenager. Worried that either Duck or Clementine isn't in sight.
"Duck fell in the ice while trying to save Luke, and Clementine did the same to Duck." Bonnie informs while rushing over to Luke and Jane.
"WHAT?!" Kenny shrieks, his voice trembling. "WHAT THE FUCK, ARE YOU SHITTING ME?!" He runs over to them, his body shaking.
"Found 'em." Jane casually announces as she dips her hand in the cold water and fished Clementine out of the water.
"W-where's Duck?!"
"Got 'em!" Luke announces as he pulls the shivering boy from the cold ass water.
"I-I'm fine..." Duck pants as he tries to stand up, but failed and coughs.
Jane carries Clementine while Kenny carries Duck in a piggy back position. "Fuck, they're gonna freeze to death."
"That ain't happenin'!" Kenny ran as fast as he can, "Hang on, Duck! You too, Clem!"
They barge into the unfinished house, with Jane exclaiming that they must get a fire started to prevent Duck and Clementine from freezing to death. While Jane looks for firewood, Kenny angrily blames Arvo for the incident.
"What? No Speaka de English?" Kenny pushes Arvo.
Arvo, now pushed to his breaking point from all the abuse, attempts to talk back, "Fuck you."
"You motherfucker." Kenny then begins beating Arvo.
"Dad! Stop that!" Duck yells as he continues shivering. "You are abusing him!"
Kenny ignored his son and continued beating the teenager.
"Dad...you're starting to scare me..."
Kenny stopped for a brief moment to gaze at his shivering son. Before continuing. "Son, grow up already. For fuck's sake!"
Duck just stood up, even if he is cold, he still has the energy to stand up and knock some sense into his father. He slowly approached him, clenching his fists and gives his father a good smack across his head.
Kenny flinches at this, before muttering a "Fuck you" and punches his attacker hard of his head, considering that the attacker is shorter than him. As the the attacker falls on the ground, he raises his fists to throw in more punches, but stops and widen his eyes. Revealing his son laying on the ground, rubbing his cheek. Before standing up and sitting on his previous place.
Kenny couldn't believe at what he did. He froze there, staring at the boy that he recently punched. The boy rubbed his bruised head. Did he just hit his own son? Yes, most parents may do that to their children to discipline the shit out of them, But to Kenny, it was different.
He wasn't the type of parent who does that, he and Katjaa always spoiled the young lad. And when his spoiled behavior gets out of hand, they would just do the 'Go to your room' thing or let Katjaa pinch his ear until he behaves. Which works either way. To their surprise, Duck isn't as spoiled as they thought he would be.
"D-Duck...I..." Kenny couldn't find the right words...For him, slapping is a way of disciplining the child, but punching? He considers that as abuse. "D...Duck...look...I didn't mean it...alright?" Kenny apologized before turning to a beaten up Arvo. "This is all your fault, motherfucker!" Kenny exclaims as he continues punching the poor teenager.
"No, Dad." Duck mutters, which made Kenny slow down, waiting for his son to continue. "It's your fault."
"W-what're you talkin' ab-" Before Kenny could continue his sentence, Duck cuts him off.
"Why do you keep blaming him?" Duck asked in a serious tone, which surprised the group. Especially Clementine and Kenny. "Why do you always blame people for the things they have nothing to do with? I don't think Arvo has anything to do with those Russian assholes. And who stole his sister's medicine?" Duck glares at both Clementine and Jane and crosses his arms.
"You know what, Dad? I think you're a good man and a father. However, everyone has their own flaws." Duck continued. "And yours include blaming people and denying what's in front of you."
What the hell? Kenny thought. This...is certainly not Duck. This is not the enthusiastic and cheerful boy he loved and raised.
"D-Duck...You're being out of character..." Clementine worriedly says. Never did she see Duck like this before. Maybe this has something to do with Kenny punching him hard on the head, or maybe Duck just...snapped.
Duck stood up, and walks outside. "I'm gonna get some air."
"But there's air everywhere." Clementine jokingly remarks. Seeing if Duck respond with another joke, which she desperately want right now.
Duck stops for a brief moment, before continuing to walk away. "Don't be silly, Clementine. You know what I meant."
As the boy leave the room, the group just stood there. "Who the fuck was that?" Nick scratches his head confusingly.
"Maybe...he just snapped..?" Bonnie looks down in disbelief.
"It's from his injury." Sarah spoke up.
"How can you tell? And how can you know? I thought your dad was the doctor." Nick jokes.
'Well...when I young, I read my dad's old medical books whenever I'm bored." Sarah sadly sighs, recalling the times where everything is normal and death wasn't crawling everywhere. "Anyway, it's from his head injury. Didn't dad said that it damaged a part of his brain? It's called Traumatic Brain Injury, or TBI for short. Maybe he has mild TBI. One of its symptoms include behavioral or mood changes, confusion, and trouble with memory, concentration, attention, or thinking." Sarah explains.
The group just stared at the young teenager. "Well, looks like we have a new doc." Luke jokes. Which the group chuckles.
"I'm still worried about Duck though..." Clementine sadly looks down.
"Don't worry, Clem. It may be temporary." Sarah puts a hand on Clementine's shoulder. "But I still don't get why he shows symptoms now...I mean...that happened like a week ago... And it clearly said it happens when the patient recently made a good recovery...And it happened just now.. It's very..illogical.."
Clementine stood up and walked outside. "I'm gonna talk to Duck.."
"Good luck."
She nodded and went outside, looking around, she sees Duck sitting in a pickup truck. She hesitantly approaches it.
Duck was just sitting there...with no emotion. No anger, no sadness, no happiness...no emotion...he just had a blank expression. He sat on the driver's seat, silently staring out the window with no emotion. This made Clementine really sad. The Duck she knows will be grabbing on the steering wheel and making car noises, y'know, pretending to drive?
Clementine hesitantly knocked on the window, Duck glanced at the sound of the knocking, seeing Clementine, he smiles weakly and gestures her to come in.
Once she opens the door and sits beside him, he sighs and continues looking out the window. "Let me guess, you're here to see if I'm alright, is that correct?"
"Duck...what's gotten in to you?" She worriedly ask. "Please don't be Somebody that I used to know.."
"I don't know what happened out there." Duck says with a sad expression. "I-I...don't know what's happening to me...And I'm...scared."
Clementine could not help but feel bad for the boy, "Um...you want a hug?"
"Clem, I don't think that can logically help me-" Duck was cut off as a pair of arms wrapped around him. He blushed madly as Clementine squeezed him. "O-okay...You can let me go now..."
"Not until you stop that attitude of yours. "
"S-seriously...Stop being out of character..."
"Say a reference."
"What?"
"Say. A. Reference."
Duck rolled his eyes at this. Muttering a 'You've got to be kidding me" before taking a deep breath. "I can't think of any!"
Clementine just sighed and gives up. "Uh..anyway...about what happened...you know..."
"I...don't wanna talk about it."
"We have to talk about it."
"No."
"Don't be a fucking coward."
"What did you just say?" Duck looked at her confusingly, did she just swear? In all his time with her, she is against swearing and refused to say any of it. Did his very own ears just betray him?
"You know what? Never mind." Clementine muttered. Before staring into the window.
"Uh...Clem?" Duck calls out, which caught Clementine's attention. "Do you ever think...that we're too young for dating?" Duck blushed and looked away, lightly itching his blushing cheeks. "I-it's not like I want us to be dating or anything...J-just a simple question...t-that is all..."
Clementine smiled at this. Yes, Duck may be having difficulty in showing his feelings, and with his condition right now, he might have difficulty in showing emotion. But him asking this kind of question? "Uh...I dunno." Clementine shrugged. "But I'd like to." She smiles at Duck.
"So...we're in a relationship now?" Duck leans back on his seat and crosses his arms.
Clementine nodded.
Duck then returned the smile. "But first things first, we need to have rules."
"Fine."
"First; No kissing on the..lips. I think we're still too young for that." Duck points out. "Second: Don't be clingy.."
"What does clingy mean?" Clementine raised a brow.
"It means that...don't be obsessed with me. Like, we shouldn't tell we love each other every 5 minutes, don't be suicidal if either of us die, don't be cliche, and give each other personal spaces...So..don't be like that, alright? I hate clingy people."
"I understand." Clementine nods.
"And Lastly." Duck announced in a serious tone, the one the makes Clementine somewhat nervous.
Duck points at himself proudly and grins. "I get to be the boyfriend." He proudly remarks.
"Fine."
"Hello!" Duck greets as he waves his hand. "Author couldn't be here today so-"
"Oi! What do you mean I couldn't be here?!" The Author exclaims as he pushes Duck out of his seat. "You're not supposed to be here until next chapter!"
Duck pauses. "Did you just spoil the next chapter?"
The author sighs and face palms. "Dammit, Duck! Just get outta here! Find your girlfriend or something!"
"What does Clementine have anything to do with this? It's your fault, author-san."
"Stop using Japanese honorifics! You're not even Japanese!" The author yelled. "Now get outta here!"
"Fine." Duck mutters. "But I will in the shadows!" He then disappeared into the darkness.
The author sighed in relief and clears his throat. "I know this chapter is a somewhat let down. I know that this chapter is somewhat crappy, well, at least to me. I'm not confident about it.
So yeah, they are now a couple and Duck has a somewhat change in his personality. But don't worry, it won't affect him much. He will stick to his childish ways. He just...sometimes think logically. So yeah.
