On with the chapter!

After dusk finally arrived, Bruce got up and went down to the cave. He put on a clean set of armor and then set about finding Damian a mask. When he found that he did not have one small enough, he picked up Damian, who was now awake. Then he climbed in to the Batmobile and drove off into Gotham city's dark, unforgiving streets holding him in his arms.

When he got to the start of his normal patrol route, he jumped out of the vehicle and put it in camouflage mode. Then he fired his grapple. He had decided that the grapple would not hurt Damian after his extensive research. So he just continued his normal patrol.

After several hours of little or no activity, he was beginning to wonder what was going on. He had just gotten up to move when he heard a soft landing behind him. Then he heard the faint click of high heels behind him. Selena. Crap. How was he going to explain him to her? Then she spoke.

"Hello, handsome. Where have you been?" She asked as she gracefully walked up behind him.

He grunted. She put her chin on his shoulder and soon after she saw the infant in his arms. She stepped back and he turned around. She started at the baby, then at Bruce. She looked confused with just a tiny hint of pain for a second, then her face softened. "Isn't he just the cutest little thing ever." She said quietly as she ran the dull side of her claw up the sleeping child's face. Then he woke up and was staring suspiciously at her. She put her goggles on her forehead, then took the child from the stoic man and began cooing over him. "Hi, kitten. I'm Selena." Damian did his level best to glare at her the entire time, but, being two months old, failed and let out a large yawn and cuddled into her before falling back asleep. The bat stood and watched as his cat and his new son interacted for the first time. "So, how long have you had him?" She asks quietly.

"Almost a full day now." He said quietly from behind her.

"Why is he not back at the manor with Alfred?" She asked.

"He's gone. I'm here alone." He breathed against her ear, now holding her to his body from behind her, watching Damian as well.

"Too bad. I just came to say goodbye before I left for Brazil. Save the cats and all." She looked back down. "When I get back I would love to help take care of him. But for now... you need to get back to patrol and I need to pack." She said as she turned around and gave him back the child. Then she grabbed her whip and backflipped off of the building. He watched her go before returning to watching the street.

When he finally got back to his car at the end of the night, around six o'clock, he was still holding the two month old, who was awake and making little mumble noises and glaring at everything it saw. When he got the hatch open, however, he was surprised to find a little black and white kitten with a bow tied around its neck. There were also two small bags of cat food and kitty litter, as well as a tray for the litter. There was a note on the seat beside it. He picked it up. It read:

Saw him and thought of your little kitten. I named him Alfred.

-love Selina

He just grumbled and moved the kitten in to the passenger seat. Then he got in to the driver's seat and drove back to the cave. He needed a big cup of coffee.

I'm way beyond your simplistic training... As you saw tonight.

Don't forget you lost that fight.

He was trained by the league of assassins...

I myself am rooting for the shrubbery.
