Setting Up Camp (And Failing In Some Cases)

The groups had split ways, Team RWBY (And Michael) covering the Southern side of the beach, whilst The Achieve Men covered the North side of the beach.

Team RWBY had almost immediately found themselves comfortable position, under a large tree that gave shade from the burning sun. The Achieve Men had a little more trouble.

"Ugh! Why is there so much god damn seaweed!" Ray exclaimed, shaking a bundle of green wickedness off his feet. The five of them had pretty much been ankle deep in pure seaweed, and there was no good tree in sight. As they looked back, though, they could see Team RWBY already building a fire under a large tree, which was a tad bit offsetting.

"Damn..." Geoff cursed as he looked back at the tiny figures of the other group. There was nearly no beach (at least where they stood) without seaweed. The small patches without seaweed, however, were not large enough to allow room for all of them to sleep. As the frustration levels rose, attempts to find good land became more desperate, and Ray decided enough was enough, and risked his own safety as he set the seaweed aflame. Ray allowed the fire to burn for a while, creating a large space of land. It was just enough for all of them to set up camp. Everybody came rushing to the patch that Ray had created, thanking their savior gleefully. But they immediately took back their words as they stood upon the patch of sand.

"Owwwwwww...!" Everyone exclaimed as soon as they lay foot on the sand. They all began to clutch their shoes, whose soles were beginning to melt away. The sand had gotten extremely hot, and it was beginning to turn black. Everybody stepped off to the side, and after a moment Gavin took out an arrow.. Using the head of his arrow, he picked up a bit of the sand and inspected it.

"Well, here we have some glass..." Gavin muttered as he threw away the arrow.. He was right. As the sand cooled down, bits of glass formed. Everyone stared at the pit of sand in front of them, then at Ray, who had the biggest look of guilt on his face.

In contrast to the Achieve Men, Team RWBY was doing quite well for themselves. Although Michael had done absolutely nothing, the girls did a great job and had set up hammocks and a fire under the tree.

"Wow, nice view." Michael pointed out as he lay in his hammock, surrounded by Ruby and Blake. Yang had purposely placed his right next to Ruby's. Although she herself had no obvious affection for Michael, her younger sister had, so she wanted them to be as close as possible, and to talk as much as possible.

But no sound came from the two's side.

Yang groaned as she stood up from the hammock and walked over by where Michael and Ruby were. They were facing opposite ways, both napping. Yang laid her hands on her hips, took a deep breath, and screeched.

"HEEEY!" She yelled at the top of her lungs. Immediately both Michael and Ruby jumped up and looked at Yang, confused.

"What is it?" Michael asked, scratching his head.

Yang's brain suddenly stopped. She had not thought this far. How would she get them to talk?

"Ummmm... Uh..." Yang trailed. Ruby crossed her arms.

"Just let it out, Yang." She coldly shot.

Yang nodded.

"Yeah, yeah um..." Yang hesitated. "Oh! Wait, yeah! No... Yeah. Ok. So we're here to look for that creature, right? Well, how about you two go scout it out, huh? Just stay up and watch the beach."

…...

A silence prevailed after what Yang said. Then Michael turned in his hammock and went back to nap.

"Wait!" Yang exclaimed. Michael got up.

"What?!" Michael asked, getting frustrated.

"Please...?"

Michael sighed.

….

….

"Fine."

He got up, picked up his sword from the ground next to the hammock, and motioned for Ruby to follow him. She quickly grabbed her stuff and ran along next to him.

Mission complete.

Yang, deciding her job was done, went back to her hammock. But when she got there, she found Weiss staring at her with a smile on her face.

"I know what you're trying to do." Weiss said dauntingly.

Yang pouted. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Weiss laughed. "Don't play me, you dunce. I see the way Ruby looks at Michael, anyway. You just wanna be that nice older sister, I understand."

Yang lowered her shoulders.

"Damn... If you could catch it that easily, Michael will have it in no time..."

She shuddered at the thought. Michael would probably stop talking to Ruby if he found that she liked him.

Weiss shrugged.

"Who cares? It's not like it really matters, he seems like the guy who would like a girl like Ruby."

Yang looked up suddenly.

"Wait... what?!"

Yang took a moment.

"Did you just compliment Ruby?"

Weiss blushed suddenly.

"Oh, darn! I suppose I did."

Yang laughed, followed by a little bit of strained and forced laughter from Weiss.

"Wow, I guess you don't hate her as much as you give off, do you? What's next, you'll accept Blake as a Faunas?"

Weiss pushed Yang.

"Oh, shut up, you dunce."

Yang continued to laugh, and Weiss stormed off. Wiping tears from her eyes, Yang settled back into her hammock.

The view was nice. The stars had begun to come out. In the distance, Yang saw Michael and Ruby as they were seen watching the waves in silence. It was a very calming scene. Expect for one thing... Why did the stars jump suddenly, as if something had moved through them? Why was the sky moving, conforming to some unkown object? Although Yang was too tired to notice, it seemed as if the creature was nearing the group...
