I don't own Harry Potter or Code Lyoko
Common interest
A tower in the ice sector turned red. Two tarantulas guarded it.
Police van
"Police HQ calling car alpha. Over." An officer picked it up.
"Car alpha. Go ahead."
"In three miles, meet up with escort two as planned."
"Copy that." A pink spark caused smoke which travelled over to the car.
"You happy to be going home, huh, Duncan?" asked the officer as they continued to drive along, passing a fence with radioactive signs on it.
"I don't talk to cops, so save your breath…" muttered Duncan.
"Typical! That's what you get for trying to be nice!" muttered the officer.
The smoke went into Duncan. He flickered and collapsed. The officers noticed what was happening.
"Duncan? What's wrong? Pull over. He's had some kind of attack."
They stopped and one climbed out. The other called the transfer car.
"Car alpha to HQ transfer."
"Go ahead car alpha."
"What's up Duncan?" asked the other officer as he opened the back doors. "You ok? What's going on here?"
Duncan woke up and snapped the handcuffs.
"Procedure three. Temporary stop to assess the situation."
The other officer got shoved through the mesh and Duncan jumped on the front of the car.
"Roger car alpha. Standing by for information. Car alpha? What's going on? Come in please."
Kadic
"Did you hear that Peter Duncan escaped from a police transfer van without any help?" asked Ulrich.
"Yeah, that's what they said on the radio," said Yumi as she picked up the drink.
"You know, ever since David Copperfield made the Statue of Liberty disappear, nothing surprises me anymore," said Odd.
"What bothers me is that the two officers guarding him talked about a supernatural force," continued Yumi.
"You think Xana is involved?" asked Ulrich.
"Not a chance," said Jeremy as he, Harry and Aelita walked over. "The Superscan doesn't show any activated towers. I just checked."
"I just hope you're right," said Yumi. "Imagine public enemy number one under Xana's control! Talk about double trouble!"
"And I say that Xana is involved," said Harry as he looked at Jeremy. "I know he's up to something. All the usual signs are there."
"A public enemy? What did this Duncan guy do?" asked Odd.
"Oh, nothing much…fine art theft, safe cracking, kidnapping, bank robberies…" listed Jeremy as Aelita grabbed her head.
"Are you ok Aelita?" asked Yumi.
"Yes, I just didn't sleep very well last night," said Aelita as she recovered. The bell went.
"Don't forget we have a maths test," said Jeremy. "Will you be alright?"
"No problem." Aelita smiled.
Power Station
Duncan moved between tress as he made his way inside. The eye of Xana flickered in his eyes.
Kadic
"As you all know, the exam covers the principal of division. I hope you've studied hard," said Ms Meer as she handed out the papers. Harry mad e a face.
"Hey Ulrich, what's the last digit of a number divisible by two, huh?" asked Odd.
"Zero," said Ms Meyer as she overheard.
"Oh yeah, that's the answer! Well don't ma'am," said Odd.
"No, that's the grade you're going to get if you keep trying to cheat!"
"Oh."
The students started to write as Ms Meyer watched over them like a hawk.
"Well Jeremy, Harry, is there a problem?" asked Ms Meyer as she spotted them not working.
"I've finished, ma'am," said Jeremy.
"So have I," said Harry as Ms Meyer picked up their papers and read over them.
"I see. Good work. Excellent in fact, both of you."
Aelita started to whimper.
"Aelita, are you ok?" asked Jeremy worriedly. She collapsed.
"Aelita!"
People started to chatter.
"I want to go check the supercomputer," muttered Harry. "It might have something to do with this."
Aelita was rushed to hospital.
"What have we got?" asked a doctor as he rushed over.
"Adolescent, twelve years old, unconscious, very weak pulse, irregular heartbeat," listed another. "Get her to bay one."
They wheeled her into the hospital. Jeremy followed her as far as he could. Aelita was connected to a heart monitor and the doctor watched it.
"She's going into fibrillation!"
"10 ml of adraxine."
The monitor showed her heart failing as the doctor injected the drug. "Get the cardiac unit."
He applied an electric shock. Her heart stopped.
"It's not working!"
He did it again. No effect. A few seconds later her heart started again.
"That kid's got a real guardian angel, that's for sure."
Aelita opened her eyes slowly.
Waiting room
Harry entered the room and sat down. He looked round nervously. "We have a problem. The supercomputer's failing because the battery is nearly dead."
"What's up Harry?" asked Yumi. "There's nothing to be scared off."
"I don't like being in the hospital," Harry admitted. "I'm scared they might find out about my powers and experiment on me."
"It'll be fine," said Ulrich. "You can control them so there's nothing to be scared of. As long as you act normal that is."
"Very helpful Ulrich. Very helpful indeed," said Harry sarcastically.
The doctor entered.
"How is she?" asked Jeremy.
"She'll be alright, but it's an extraordinary case," said the doctor.
"Can we see her?" asked Yumi.
"I don't see why not, but not too much noise. She needs to rest."
"Don't worry, doctor, everyone knows I'm quiet and calm," reassured Odd. Harry rolled his eyes.
"How are your test results?" asked Yumi as they entered the room.
"Completely normal," said Aelita.
"Maybe it's got something to do with the fact that you're not really human," suggest Ulrich.
"Aelita is human. She's my cousin remember," Harry reminded him.
"You know that I don't believe that," said Jeremy as he looked at him.
"I heard it from Uncle Franz! I don't believe that he'd lie to me! He also told me to read his diary."
"It could be the virus that Xana implanted in me," said Aelita.
"It is," said Harry. "I went down to the lab. The computer's battery is nearly dead. When it goes, Aelita will too."
"Did you find anything Jeremy?" asked Yumi as she looked at him.
"Everything's calm on the Xana front. No activated towers. Although the Superscan seems to have reset itself, it's not giving the right results," said Jeremy.
"Kind of like me! I guess it didn't study either," said Odd, trying to make a joke.
"Xana is active," said Harry. "I think he possessed Peter Duncan. If the supercomputer dies, he goes down with it as well."
"There's no classes this afternoon. I'll go to the factory and check it out."
"We'll go with you," said Ulrich. Harry nodded.
"I'll stay here. We can have a girl-to-girl talk for once," said Yumi as she smiled.
Power Station
A van drove to the station with a load of uranium. Duncan stepped out into the road. The van swerved and stopped.
"That guy's crazy!"
Duncan unlocked the door and opened it to reveal soldiers. Their guns were aimed at him.
"Don't move. Put your hands in the air."
He defeated them and unlocked the uranium. The driver ran round to find him gone along with a rod of uranium.
Lab
"That was exactly what I was afraid of," said Jeremy as he looked at the coding for the Superscan.
"What?" asked Ulrich.
"The Superscan is bugged up. I'll find out why in a minute."
"I've already told you. The supercomputer is nearly empty on power," said Harry as he threw his hands in the air.
"The real question is: can you fix it?" asked Odd.
"Well normally yeah, but the debugging phase takes time. I don't know if it's a minor bug or something more serious which might…"
"Ok, ok, if Xana's activated a tower, we'll find it much faster by going directly to Lyoko," interrupted Odd. "You coming Ulrich?"
The two walked out. Jeremy looked at Harry who had his hands in his pockets. "You're not going?"
"No," said Harry. "I know Xana's activated a tower. I have this feeling that he's busy acquiring uranium for the supercomputer."
Jeremy shrugged. "Transfer Ulrich. Transfer Odd. Scanner Ulrich. Scanner Odd. Virtualisation!"
Lyoko
Ulrich and Odd looked around the ice sector. "All clear here. We're going to have to search all the sectors."
"No problem," said Jeremy. "I'll load your vehicles."
The Overboard and Overbike appeared and they jumped on.
"How's it going with the Superscan?" asked Odd as they started to search.
"Harry's fixing it," said Jeremy as Harry leaned over him. "It's going to take a while."
"Anyway, you'd better forget it," sad Odd as they looked at the activated tower. "We've found it."
"I've got it," said Harry. "Twenty five degrees north north-east."
"Nice job guys," said Jeremy.
"Now all we need is for Harry to make his way over here and we can deactivate this," said Odd.
"Harry thinks Xana possessed Duncan to get something for the computer," said Jeremy as he looked at the screen. "Harry, bring them in."
The computer shut down.
"That's great," said Harry. "The computer shut down again. Odd? Ulrich? Can you hear us?"
"Uh, Harry, not that we're in a rush, but uh… Harry? Taking your time there! …Harry?" asked Ulrich as they waited.
Harry focused then slumped.
"Harry!" Jeremy checked his pulse. It was fine. "What is he doing?"
"Hm, must've forgotten to pay his phone bill," said Odd. A see-through image of Harry appeared. "Harry? What's happening?"
"The computer shut down. We can't bring you in for the moment. Be careful, Lyoko might start to disappear."
He faded away.
"What's wrong with this darn Supercomputer?" asked Jeremy to himself as he went down to the actual computer. "Is it what Harry says is wrong? That the computer is losing power?"
Hospital
"Wait, the funniest part is, Hiroki says to my father, "Papa, when I grow up, I'm going to look like you, but with muscles!" said Yumi. She laughed as Aelita closed her eyes. Her heart monitor went crazy. "Aelita? Oh no. Not again! Someone get a doctor!"
Lyoko
"I guess we'll have to manage without help from Harry and Jeremy," said Ulrich as he pulled his sword out. Odd aimed at Ulrich. They attacked each other and nothing happened.
"We can't be devirtualised."
"The scanners are offline. What is going on around here anyway?!" asked Ulrich.
"Weren't you listening to Harry?" asked Odd. "But we've got a real problem anyway!"
"That's the understatement of the year," said Ulrich.
Supercomputer
"Oh, this is really bad…" muttered Jeremy as he tried to turn the computer off and on again. "Come on. Start up."
He tried turning it on and off multiple times. Nothing happened as the computer remained off.
Lyoko
A light appeared as the ice sector started to disappear.
"What is that?" asked Ulrich.
"How about…a gigantic invisible eraser?" suggested Odd. "It's likely Lyoko disappearing due to the computer deactivating."
"Let's get out of here!"
They jumped on their vehicles.
"Harry do something fast! Before it's too late!" called Ulrich as they fled from the destruction.
"Harry, can you hear us?" asked Odd. "We have a big bug here!"
The Overbike disappeared and Ulrich fell. Odd shot down to catch him.
"Thanks."
The Overboard disappeared as well, leaving them falling to their deaths.
Hospital
The doctors tried chest compressions as Yumi watched helplessly.
Supercomputer
The supercomputer turned on.
"Finally!"
Lyoko
The ice sector started to reform as the boys landed hard.
"Looks like Lyoko's recharged its batteries," said Ulrich as they looked around and watched the rest of the sector reform.
Hospital
Aelita's heart restarted.
"In all my years as a doctor, this is the first time I've ever seen that."
Supercomputer
"Harry was right," muttered Jeremy as he looked at the power display. It showed that the computer had hardly any energy. "The battery is nearly dead."
Hospital
"Since the nuclear battery is nearly dead, the supercomputer keeps failing," explained Jeremy. "Soon, it will turn off altogether."
"Oh, is that all?" asked Odd as he glanced at Jeremy. "Then we just have to change the battery!"
"A Supercomputer is not the same as a GameBoy, Odd," pointed out Jeremy. "You can't just pick up a bar of uranium at the corner store!"
"Isn't there a backup?" asked Ulrich.
"No. I checked."
"Xana is dying," said Yumi. Aelita overheard the conversation from her hospital room.
"And so is Aelita…and all on account of that miserable virus! I'm going to get something to drink…" said Jeremy sombrely. He sat down with his drink and Peter Duncan walked over to him. Jeremy flinched away and Duncan grabbed him.
"Shouldn't we be telling Aelita this?" asked Harry as he looked at the others before moving away. "She has a right to know."
"Hey Princess. Is this the best TV set they could find?" asked Odd as he tried to cheer Aelita up.
"Don't bother trying to cheer me up. I heard what they said in the hallway…" said Aelita as she turned away.
"Jeremy's disappeared," said Yumi as she opened the door. "So has Harry."
"Harry? Wouldn't he try to do something like make a ruckus with his powers if something happened?" asked Odd. "I mean, he can use them on earth so…"
"This is a hospital," Yumi reminded him. "Harry's scared because if his powers get discovered, he'll be taken in and experimented on. He did say that remember? He couldn't have used them to save his life."
"They can't have left just like that," said Ulrich. Aelita collapsed as her heart flat lined again.
"Aelita!" Ulrich's phone rang.
"Ulrich, it's me."
"Jeremy! Where are you? Aelita just had another attack."
"That figures," said Jeremy as he opened the place for the battery. "I just turned off the Supercomputer."
"What?!"
"Harry was right about Xana's attack too. Peter Duncan is under Xana's control. He kidnapped me and Harry so I can replace the battery and give Harry to the Scyphozoa."
"That means that Aelita is saved too then! Fantastic!"
"Yeah, except that once the new battery is in, Duncan's going to try to kill me only after he sends Harry to Lyoko for the Scyphozoa to possess," said Jeremy as he looked at the two unconscious figures. "The only way to get rid of Duncan is for you to get to Lyoko and deactivate the tower. Get here with Aelita as soon as possible."
"Aelita's heart can't take much more of this," warned Ulrich.
"I know. Hurry."
The doctors entered the room to find Aelita missing and the window open.
Supercomputer
"This ought to do the trick," muttered Jeremy as he pulled out the old Uranium and pushed the new rod into its place. He shut it and turned the computer on. He then picked up Harry and ran into the elevator and shut the door on Duncan. They headed up to the lab.
"Yumi, Ulrich, Odd, are you there?" asked Jeremy as her put the earpiece on. "Tell me you're there."
"You're there!" exclaimed Odd.
"We're in the scanner room," said Yumi.
"Is Aelita ok?" asked Jeremy.
"Couldn't be better!"
"Launch the procedure for Yumi, Aelita and me. We're going to deactivate that darn Tower!" said Odd.
"But where's Ulrich?" asked Jeremy as Ulrich arrived in the lab.
"Here I am! You didn't think we'd let you have all the fun with Peter Duncan, did you?" he asked. Harry groaned and sat up.
"What happened?"
"Peter Duncan got the drop on you," said Jeremy as Ulrich helped him up. "Transfer Odd. Transfer Yumi. Transfer Aelita. Scanner Odd. Scanner Yumi. Scanner Aelita. Virtualisation. Harry do you feel up to going to Lyoko?"
"Sure," said Harry as he started to go down the scanners. "I want to one up Xana."
Jeremy rolled his eyes. "Transfer Harry. Scanner Harry. Virtualisation."
Lyoko
Harry joined the rest of the group.
"You should be able to see the tower," said Jeremy as Harry looked around and froze.
"Oh great. It's a Fish Head."
"Oh, Kankrelats! We haven't seen you guys for a while! I missed you," said Odd as he looked in the same direction. They shot at him and Odd jumped out of the way before running on all fours and shooting one. Harry took out the rest before starting to back away.
"Your rides are on the way."
The Scyphozoa approached.
"Hurry up guys."
"We're doing our best! It's no picnic out here!" said Odd as several Krabes appeared.
"There's no time Odd, let's go," said Yumi as the three vehicles appeared.
"Must be your lucky day, you seafood salad!" exclaimed Odd as they flew away. The Scyphozoa followed them.
Lab
Duncan phased through the door.
"Can you handle him?" asked Jeremy as he looked at Ulrich nervously.
"I love entertaining guests!" Ulrich approached him with fists raised. He attempted to attack him but he got sent flying. He hit his head hard and collapsed to the floor.
"Ulrich!"
Jeremy backed away from the computer as Duncan approached. He grabbed him and started passing electricity through him.
"Your little friend will soon be at my command."
Lyoko
They flew over two tarantulas. They tried to shoot Harry down but he dodged and shot them. He glanced at the Scyphozoa.
Yumi landed near the tower and Aelita jumped off before running as fat as she could towards it. Harry landed as well. The Krabes caught up as the Scyphozoa grabbed him and touched his head with its tentacles. Aelita paused and looked at him.
"Harry!"
Yumi flipped around and scored a hit on the Krabes before running over and attempted to cut the Scyphozoa's tentacles. The Krabes shot at her and she devirtualised before she could do anything. Odd shot rapidly at the Krabes and they all blew up, complete with flashing lights.
Odd started to shoot at the Scyphozoa but several hornets took the blows instead.
"Jeremy, materialise Harry," called Aelita as she ran towards the tower again. "Jeremy?"
A tarantula walked in front of the tower. Aelita stopped and used her creativity to form a hole in the ice. The tarantula dropped into the digital sea, helpless. Aelita jumped over the hole and entered the tower. Harry gritted his teeth.
"Not true," he muttered to himself as Xana tried to weaken his will. "Not true. Drop me. I am not your servant. That was a one-time thing. I don't want to be attacked by it."
The Scyphozoa didn't respond. Harry focused even more.
"Leave. Me. Alone!"
The Scyphozoa dropped him. He started to run away.
"I hate that monster," he muttered. "Can't it leave me alone?"
Aelita rose to the second platform after a backwards flip. She pressed her palm to the screen.
Aelita
Code
Lyoko
The tower deactivated.
Lab
Duncan collapsed, dropping Jeremy at the same time. Jeremy grunted as he hit the floor hard.
"Hey, you ok?" asked Ulrich as he woke up.
Kadic, sometime later
"Peter Duncan was found outside the police station, unconscious," said Yumi as she read the newspaper out loud. "The police are investigating but don't have any leads as to how he got there."
"Even if we told them the truth, the police would never believe us," said Ulrich. Harry gazed into space. "What's the matter Harry?"
"Probably something Xana told him while he trying to get Harry under his control again," said Odd. "He likes to do stuff like that."
"He said that he could teach me more than anyone on earth could," said Harry as he focused. "That was really tempting. He also said that no one cared for me. That everyone was using my smarts for their own good and that he wouldn't do that. He'd treat me like a really person. I bet that he would change my perceptions to make it seem like that was happening when in reality I was serving him by doing his dirty work."
Everyone shared a glance and hugged him.
"Don't believe a word that Xana says," said Yumi into his ear. "We aren't using you. Where would we be without our favourite programmer? And our glue?"
Harry blushed. "Xana does have a way of getting inside your head though. He makes you doubt everything. It feels like nobody can help you. But, seriously, glue?"
"Hey, we can help you," said Ulrich. "You can tell us anything. Yes, glue. You're one of the two that keep us together. We can't do this without you."
"Don't let Xana catch you. He's really manipulative. It makes me wonder how strong I am to make Xana constantly go after me. On the upside, he's stopped trying to kill me. He said so himself."
"That's how it is for unsung heroes like ourselves. We've gotta act and win, and remain in the shadows. I guess that's what being a true hero is all about! But someday, everybody's going to know just how brave we are! And we'll reap the benefits and rewards true heroes deserve," said Odd off topic.
"Hey, speaking of rewards, I just saw Ms Meyer," said Jeremy as they broke apart.
"Uh-oh," said Odd with obvious discomfort.
"She gave me the results of the math test," continued Jeremy.
"Uh, great! What did I get?" asked Odd nervously.
"8650 + 51 - 10000 + 1299!"
"You mean I got…um…uh…wow! I got a hundred?" asked Odd excitedly as everybody looked at him and smirked. Harry smiled. Odd was so stupid at times.
"No, zero!" exclaimed Jeremy. "Can't you do simple mathematics?"
"Normally Harry does that for me," said Odd as his face fell.
"Don't worry Odd, one day everyone's going to know how brave you are by not studying! And you'll reap the rewards that an unsung hero like you deserves," said Ulrich.
"But don't hold your breath," continued Yumi as she, Harry, Aelita, Jeremy and Ulrich started to laugh as Odd glared at them.
"What did I get?" asked Harry.
"You got full marks like me," said Jeremy.
Harry returned to thinking about what Xana said. He eventually decided to ignore what Xana had offered. He'd learn about things with his close friends and they'd defeat Xana together. Harry smiled as they walked into the building to continue looking for the antivirus for Aelita. Xana couldn't affect him if he believed in himself and his friends.
"You ok Harry?" asked Ulrich as he looked at him again. "You do know that Xana is trying to manipulate you?"
"I do. I decided to ignore him as much as I can."
Ulrich smiled. "Good luck with that. It's rather hard to ignore a Xana attack."
"Harry punched him in the shoulder playfully. "You know what I mean."
Xana watched them through the cameras. He'd get the ninja boy sooner or later. It was only a matter of time.
