The Beast From The Deep
Ruby and Michael sat on the beach together, supposedly standing gaurd, a little too far away from each other. It was a nice view of the ocean, so they had an excuse, but all the same there was nearly no natural interaction between Michael and Ruby. They both sat awkwardly, awaiting the other to begin a conversation.
"So… you and Yang, huh? Sisters…." Michael blurted suddenly, bored of the utter silence.
Ruby blushed a bit.
"Yeah…"
Michael noted the fact that she had flushed at his talking. She was obviously very shy. No surprise there, honestly. She always seemed like the shy type. But not around her sister or friends. Perhaps Michael could be that kind of figure. A friend.
"So why do you think your sister made me come here with your team?" Michael asked, the question suddenly passing his mind.
Upon hearing this, Ruby turned around to hide her face, which was flushed more than ever.
"I don't know…!" She suddenly blurted. Michael turned from her to face the ocean.
"Don't worry, Ruby, I know what's going on." Michael said.
Ruby turned back to face him, a defeated look on her face.
"You… you do?!"
Michael nodded.
"Mmmhmmm…." He turned back to face Ruby. "I know that your sister likes me."
Ruby suddenly dropped her guard, her face drooping into an expression of stupidity and disappointment. Was he being serious?
And suddenly, as he said these words, the under brush behind them rustled.
Then a laugh came.
None other than Yang's.
"YAAAAAANG!"Ruby yelled at the top of her lungs. Perhaps her and her sister were not that different. She obviously inherited the anger part of Yang.
Yang suddenly popped up from the bush, covering her mouth in an attempt to hide her incessant laughter.
"Ha…Ha…I'm sorry! It just seems so…. Oh God, Michael, don't you get the hint?" She rasped through the laughter.
Michael gave a look of confusion and humiliation.
Taking that as a no, Yang continued.
"I don't fucking like you, idiot Ruby does! Even the audience knew it, stupid!" She blurted, barely containing further hysteria.
Michael's stomach flipped. It felt like a balloon inside him had just been untied and let loose. He looked at Yang's laughing face and Ruby's stern one.
"What?" Michael suddenly said, not understanding how Ruby could like him.
"Wait," Michael stopped for a moment, and pointed at Ruby. "You like me, right?"
Ruby looked at him, and nodded slowly. She had a look of absolute disappointment in him in her eyes.
Then it dawned on Michael, and his jaw suddenly became tense. For a moment he just stood there, contemplating.
"Pretty damn cool." He finally let out. Ruby groaned, and Yang laughed again. Michael had honestly thought that Yang had liked him. He would have enjoyed it if Yang liked him. For Michael liked her, and not Ruby.
The five Achieve Men slept on the bare patch of sand that Ray had created, even though spikes of glass were still embedded on it. Surprisingly, falling asleep was the easy part. Waking up was a completely different affair.
"FUCK!"
"My back!"
"There is glass in my back!"
These were just a sampling of the terrified screams coming from the five grown men, who had woken up with glass all over their back, sand in their faces, ears, and clothes.
Specifically in parts not to be aforementioned, sand had built up. This caused much scratching and irritation.
"Why did we sleep here, again?" Geoff asked no one in particular, his hands in his pants, scratching away at the sand.
"It was our only choice, it was this or walk around in seaweed for the rest of the night." Jack reminded him. Although his voice shook a bit, he did not show too much struggle as he cleaned himself off and took the shards of glass from his back.
In contrast to his toughness and solidness was Gavin, who ran around rabidly, asking for help with his wounds.
"There's a damn shard in my schnozz!" He whooped as he ran around, pointing it out to the others. Ryan laughed.
"No wonder, with a nose of that size I bet a beowolf could fit." He harshly shot.
Gavin stopped his running, a terrible and undescribable emotion on his face.
"Oh!" Was all Gavin could manage to say.
After Ryan's rude reply came much laughter from the guys, followed by more cries of pain.
Interrupting the commotion, though, was a rumble. The sand bounced around, the glass shards sinking beneath. The trees ached with pain as they were jolted around, and the guys were knocked off their feet. The others could feel it as well. Ruby, Blake, Weiss, Yang, and Michael were all feeling the same rumble.
Suddenly the ocean parted, splitting into two, allowing for a large hole leading into the abyss.
Out from that hole came a creature, not describable by any means. It had a human like form, only leaner and more sea-green color. It's appendages were also different, ending in webs. It was the size of two whole football fields. Its arms were large and long enough to pull itself from the hole using only the seafloor. 'It' had the power to kill all of the group with one mere swipe. Its two bulging eyes began to face the beach, its fin-like ears pointing out into the sky. It looked like a lizard/man combination, in short.
But as it looked with its large yellow eyes, only pain and sorrow filled them. It muscles were torn and ripped, and as it pulled itself further from the hole, everyone noticed shackles around its wrist. It was, perhaps, a slave.
But there was no time for speculation.
The only thing to do was fight. That was all they ever knew how to do, and here would be the final test.
Death certainly was looking them in the eye.
*Pardon me for the lack of 'romance'. I had set up the scenario wrong and there was nowhere for me to add a good 'scene'. Also keep in mind I'm not too keen a fan on pairing, so when I try my hand at romance (Which I promise will be very soon, Ganta Shengshun) it will be much better.
