A Bad Turn

"A few more missions like that to sector five and I'll have all the elements we need to free Aelita from the virus," said Jeremy as they climbed out the manhole. "How was the talk with Franz Harry?"

"Franz says that we should keep going with decrypting his diary," said Harry. "And that he's sorry for the mishap with the neural headset. He also seems to think that Aelita doesn't have an antivirus but something missing."

"That's interesting," said Jeremy. "See you tomorrow Yumi."

"Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow," said Yumi than said to Ulrich. "See you tomorrow little lion."

Ulrich kissed her on the check.

"See you tomorrow."

Yumi smiled and walked away.

"Little lion?" asked Harry.

Ulrich glared at him. "If you mention that to anyone…."

Harry shrugged. "Sissi calls me sneaky mouse."

The rest of the group sniggered as they headed to their dorms.

Yumi

Yumi ran across the road and stopped.

"William? W-what are you doing here? Are you crazy?" she asked when she saw him standing outside her house.

"Yes, I told you I was. I go totally crazy when I like a girl…" said William, looking at her. He tried to kiss her but she moved out of the way.

"I already have a boyfriend William."

"It's Ulrich, isn't it," said William as she opened the gate.

"Goodnight."

Kadic

"So then I told her I was going to order a t-shirt on the Internet, and she asked if it was going to come out of the printer," said Odd as Aelita, Ulrich and Jeremy laughed.

"That's funny," said Ulrich as he peered out the door at William who had just entered his. Harry appeared inside the room.

"What happened?" asked Ulrich.

"William was waiting outside Yumi's house," said Harry, making a face. "He tried to kiss her but she rejected it. Please don't make me do that again."

"Well then…I think I'm going to go to bed, I'm tired," said Aelita.

"Yeah, me too," said Jeremy as the two left.

"What are you leaving out?" asked Ulrich.

"Apart from the fact that William doesn't realise that Yumi's in a relationship, nothing," said Harry as he looked at him. "I think she might have realised I was there though."

Lyoko

Pulsations lead to an activated tower in the mountain sector.

The next day

Harry rubbed his head as Delmas spoke.

"Some of you are riding scooters and at this stage, I don't think it would be a waste of your time to go over the rules of the road."

"You ok Harry?" Jeremy asked quietly.

"Xana's at it again," Harry whispered back.

"This day will familiarise you with the correct way to drive on the road," continued Delmas. "The Assistant warrant officer Garrick here has agreed to take you under his responsibly today as part of the exchange program between the police force and the board of education. Our physical education teacher Jim will assist you as well."

"Corporal Jim Morales, seventh engineering battalion, service number 9 2 12 1!" listed Jim as he saluted.

"At ease. You were in the army?" asked the officer.

"Uh…I'd rather not talk about it, captain."

"I'm only a warrant officer!" pointed out the officer.

"Oh…excuse me, lieutenant…" corrected Jim, embarrassed.

"Yes well, erm, I'll turn operations over to you, um…Jim. Can I count on you?" asked Delmas.

"Affirmative, Mr Delmas!"

Scanner Room.

A scanner whirred and a Krabe's leg appeared.

Kadic

"Driving a vehicle is a serious business," said the officer as he opened a car door. "Caution, concentration…"

Yumi grabbed Ulrich's arm.

"Did you send Harry after me last night? I though I saw him."

"I only did it to make sure you were safe," said Ulrich, blushing. "He didn't want to do it."

"Now, I'm going to call you one by one to take a drive around the circuit," finished the officer. "The rest of you can go to your seats. Delmas, Elisabeth."

"I prefer Sissi to Elisabeth," corrected Sissi as they climbed in. "What about you? Do you have a nickname?"

She did her seatbelt, moved the mirror and zoomed off. Odd laughed at Sissi.

"That wasn't bad for a first go," said Harry. Sissi smiled at him and winked.

"Della Robbia, Odd."

Several people had a turn. Then it was Ulrich's turn. "Let's go."

He knocked over several cones.

"Hey, you're not any better than I am! What a morale booster," said Odd as Ulrich walked over and Harry was called.

"Will you just shut up?" asked Ulrich.

"Hey, it's not Odd's fault that you drive like a dork," pointed out William. Ulrich glanced at him and watched Harry climb in. "I don't think your brother is going to be any better."

Harry drove around the circuit perfectly. William gaped.

"He was better than me! How did he do it?"

Odd sniggered and muttered to Ulrich, "That's what you get with super senses and stuff."

"It's not fair," moaned William. First you get Yumi than Harry drives better. You two are so weird."

Seeing what was about to happen, Harry stood between them. "That's enough. William, don't provoke Ulrich. Ulrich, just ignore William's taunts. He wants you to react."

William looked impressed. "I take back what I said about your brother. He's cool."

Later

"Don't worry, Aelita, it'll work out. They're not the first guys who ever fought over a girl," said Odd. William and Ulrich had ended up verbally sparing. Jim hadn't noticed due to Harry stopping them doing any worse.

"How about you? Would you fight over me, Jeremy?" asked Aelita as Harry walked over from Yumi and Ulrich who were in each other's arms.

"I fight for you every day, Aelita! Against Xana," said Jeremy.

"Awww! That's s-so beautiful…," said Odd, pretending to cry.

"I think Xana's sending put monsters for the third time," said Harry as he sat down.

"Third time?" asked Odd. "He's only sent them once Harry."

"He sent some against me when I went to Hogwarts," explained Harry. "I asked Franz about that and he said that Xana was so desperate to gain me for himself, he would do anything. Even send the Scyphozoa to earth like he did." He shuddered.

Jeremy's laptop beeped and he opened it to reveal the Superscan showing the activated tower.

"Harry go get Yumi and Ulrich. Tell them to go to the factory."

Harry nodded and ran at a slow pace. Well, slow for him anyway.

"What's up Harry?" asked Ulrich as he looked at him.

"SOS Xana."

Yumi's house

Yumi's dad entered the house as Yun's mum used a laptop and Hiroki played a game.

"You're back early."

"The meeting got moved up. How's your dictionary coming on?"

"Well, my editor called…" a large knock shook the house. Yumi's mum opened the house to reveal a Krabe. She screamed and backed away.

Factory

The group ran in and stopped as a Krabe shot at them. Harry returned fire and it collapsed. Another one appeared.

"Well, at least we know what Xana has in store for us," said Odd as they lay on the floor. Yumi's phone rang.

"Hello? Hiroki?"

"Yumi! There's a big monster outside the house!"

"What?" asked Yumi.

"No, I swear! And the monster looks like the one in Ultimate Blaster! Daddy's outside…" said Hiroki as he hid under the table.

"I'm sending help," said Yumi as she ended the call. "Harry, can you help?"

Harry nodded. "I trust we're going back in time after this."

Jeremy nodded. Harry smiled and disaoered in a breeze.

"I just hope he'll get there in time," murmured Yumi. Ulrich squeezed her hand.

"He will. He won't let anything hurt them. I promise."

"Xana might attack the school," said Jeremy.

"Me and Ulrich will go and cheek," said Yumi. They stood and ran. Jeremy started to draw on the floor. "Right, I've got a plan. Ok, this is the gallery, which I'm going to call G. This is where we are, this is the elevator landing which I'm going to call E. We've got to get to point E without being spotted by the Krabe, K. You get it?"

"No, but I've got another plan!" said Odd.

"What is it?" asked Jeremy as he looked at him.

"BANZAAAIIIII!" Odd yelled as he jumped in front of the Krabe.

"Odd!"

It shot at him and Odd rolled under it. "What are you waiting for? An invitation?"

It turned around.

"Get into the elevator," called Odd as he kept the Krabe's attention on him. They jumped down and ran over. Odd rolled in as the Krabe shot at him.

"Get to the scanner room," said Jeremy as he got off at the lab. "I'll start the process."

Harry

"You can't come through here," said an officer. "There's a dangerous animal loose."

"I'm checking on a friend's family at a request," said Harry. "She lives right there."

He pointed at the house.

"Sorry, we have our orders."

"I don't have time for this!"

He jumped right over the officer's head and left him gaping.

Scanner

"Are you there Odd?" asked Jeremy. "You ok?"

"Uh, we're alright. But uh, we've got a little problem here! Our friend Mister Krabe has busted all the scanners!"

"Not all of them," said Aelita, looking at one. "This one is still active."

"I'll virtualise Aelita first," said Jeremy as Aelita stepped in. "The tower is in the mountains. Thirty five degrees north. Transfer Aelita. Scanner Aelita. Virtualisation."

Lyoko

"I programmed the overboard," said Jeremy as she landed. It appeared in front of her.

Scanner

"You're turn Odd."

"Alright."

The scanner opened to reveal another Krabe.

"Uh-oh, Jeremy, we've got another problem!"

"What kind?" asked Jeremy.

"Well…it's a big banquet! Xana has sent us an entire seafood platter!" explained Odd as he backed away. "I wish Harry was here."

Kadic

People started screaming as Yumi and Ulrich ran out of the park. A Krabe walked out of the wood.

"Wh-what is that thing?!" asked William as he joined them.

"A Krabe…"

William looked at them as Ulrich called Harry.

"When can you get to the School? Uh huh. Alright."

He hung up. "Harry has just got to your house Yumi. He's trying to find your family."

Lab

A bang echoed in the room.

"What was that?!" asked Jeremy.

"The very last scanner getting destroyed by a Krabe!" said Odd as he climbed out of the hatch.

"Aelita is on her own now." Jeremy closed her eyes.

"Aright, there's no time to lose," said Aelita as she jumped on the overboard and flew away.

Yumi's house

"Mr Ishiyama! Mrs Ishiyama! Hiroki!" called Harry as he searched the house.

"Are you the one Yumi sent?" asked Hiroki as he peered out from under the table. "You don't look like much.

"Yes," Harry replied as he knelt down to his level. "I'm a friend of your sister's and I'm stronger than I look. Where are your parents?"

"I don't know."

Harry frowned as he listened to the police radio.

"It's gone to the school. I think."

Yumi's dad swiped at him from above with the samurai sword. Harry pulled out his sword and stopped it.

"Where di that come from?" asked Hiroki.

"You don't need to know," said Harry as he continued to block. "I'm here to help. Yumi sent me."

Yumi's dad lowered the sword. They ran outside to meet face to face with the Krabe.

Lyoko

Aelita flew down a path.

"The activated tower is fifteen degrees north west. Be very careful."

She flew sideways around the corner.

"Don't worry Jeremy. I learn fast."

Ulrich rang.

"Ulrich! Not a moment too soon."

"We're at the school," said Ulrich as the Krabe looked at them. "We'll deal with it! With William…"

"GERONIMOOOO!" yelled Jim as he ran at it. It shot him.

They chucked rocks at it and ran into the woods.

"Looking for me?" asked William as he waved his arms. Ulrich jumped on top of it and hit it with a sharp branch. The monster collapsed.

Lyoko

Aelita created a slope for her to test her skills on. She smiled and did a few tricks.

Kadic

"You're lucky. I wasn't going to save you," said Ulrich.

"That wasn't very nice Ulrich," said Yumi. "What would Harry say?"

"Hey, what are you, crazy? What's the matter with you?" asked William as he rubbed his shoulder.

"Stay away from our group! You got that?!" asked Ulrich.

"Listen man, you're the one that doesn't get it! In the race for Yumi, I'm not in first place! Or didn't you know?" asked William.

"Of course I know I'm in first place," said Ulrich through clenched teeth. "I'm her boyfriend."

Factory

"These Krabes are just as bad as on Lyoko," said Odd as he watched it climb out of the shaft. He led it to the machine room.

Lyoko

"Aelita! Behind you!" called Jeremy as he saw the markers for monster's show up. "Hornets coming in."

Aelita looked at them and threw an energy field. One blew up. She dodged the laser shots and hit another one.

"They'll do everything they can to slow you down," said Jeremy.

"That's for sure!" muttered Aelita. "They want to give the Krabes time to take care of Yumi, Odd and Ulrich. I wouldn't be surprised if Xana sent one of the Scyphozoas to earth to get to Harry."

"Ulrich."

"We took care of one of the Krabes," said Ulrich.

"Some good news. Aelita's doing everything she can to get to the tower and deactivate it. Have you heard from Harry?"

"He's at Yumi's house," said Ulrich.

"I'll take care of it," said Ulrich. "Along with Yumi."

"WE'LL take care of it!" corrected William.

Aelita knocked into one of the hornets, causing it to shoot wildly and hit another. She threw an energy field at it and it blew up. She flew towards a boulder and flew upwards at the last second. One crashed. A swarm separated and she flew over a bump, causing two to go into each other.

She flew up again and then back down, passing through the swarm.

"Well done, Aelita! Odd would be proud of you," said Jeremy.

She flew back to the path and the remainder of the swarm followed her. She sent of multiple energy fields and not a single hornet was left.

"More are coming."

"I've got an idea!" said Aelita.

"It isn't dangerous, is it?" asked Jeremy worriedly.

"Uh…no! Odd showed it to me!"

"Is that supposed to make me feel better?!" asked Jeremy.

She flew up and down through a hole as the boosters started up again. Several Hornets ran into the path but some slipped through. Aelita looked at them.

"You're about to arrive at a hollow mountain," said Jeremy as he looked at the display.

"Could you dematerialise the overboard when I give the signal?" asked Aelita.

"Yes. Why?"

"You'll find out."

Yumi's house

"Let's go," said Harry as a Krabe shot at him. He dodged and it hit the fence. He glared at the monster and ran at it. Harry ran round it several times, jumped on it and stabbed it. It collapsed. The family stared at him.

"What?"

"That was cool," said Hiroki as he hugged him. "You're my hero!"

A screech reverberated around the area. Harry paled. A Scyphozoa appeared round the corner.

"Beat it up Ulrich's brother," cheered Hiroki. Ulrich and Yumi followed it.

"Make my day, shrimp!" called Ulrich as Harry looked at him and almost got taken by the Scyphozoa.

Lyoko

Aelita flew into the mountain. Two hornets followed her and another went around the outside. Aelita dodged the laser fire. One smashed into a rock. Aelita came to a hollow with a rock structure in the middle and stopped. She listened to the hornets.

"Now!"

The overboard disappeared and the hornets smashed into each other.

"Thanks Jeremy."

"Nice job. I'm sending you the Overwing."

It appeared and she flew off.

Factory

Odd ran from the Krabe as William drove the car into the factory and opened the door. Odd jumped in and they drove away from the Krabe. Its laser fire hit the window.

"What do we do now?" asked William as he looked at Odd after he stopped.

"Well I've got a slightly crazy idea," said Odd. He explained his plan.

Lyoko

"The activated tower is not much further. Dead north."

Aelita flew up to the tower but got shot down by tarantulas. The other Scyphozoa appeared from behind a rock. Aelita threw several energy fields and destroyed the tarantulas.

Factory

The Krabe approached the car. Odd jumped on its leg and tied a rope to it. He jumped off and it followed him. William reversed and dragged the Krabe with him. He jumped out and the car went down the elevator shaft, dragging the Krabe with it.

"Good job man."

Yumi's house

"How many times have I told you?" Hiroki asked Yumi as he watched Ulrich attack the Scyphozoa with her dad's sword. "This is the guy you should go out with!"

Ulrich cut a tentacle off as Harry shot at it.

"Ulrich, you're the greatest!"

The Scyphozoa tried to pick Harry up but he dodged and stabbed it with his sword. The monster flickered.

"Man, what does it take to kill this thing?" Harry asked. Ulrich shrugged. Hiroki tried to get closer but got taken by the Scyphozoa.

"Hiroki!"

Harry stabbed the Scyphozoa again and chopped its tentacles off. It disappeared. Harry caught Hiroki.

"Hiroki?" He shook him. Hiroki opened his eyes. No eye of Xana. Harry sighed in relief. Yumi and their parents ran over and hugged the two.

"What happened?" asked Hiroki. "It felt like something was being stuffed in me. And there was this voice…"

"Don't worry about it," said Harry as he pulled Hiroki up. "You're safe, that's what matters."

Lyoko

Aelita backed into a cave.

"Get out of there!"

The Scyphozoa picked her up, placed its tentacles on her head and started to drain her memory.

"Aelita!"

She exploded.

"Huh?"

Aelita ran to the tower.

"A decoy?"

She rose to the second platform and pressed her hand to the screen.

"Return to the past."

Factory

"You were great, William. But you won't remember any of it," said Odd as he looked at William

"Hm? Hey…"

The white light covered them.

Earlier

Ulrich stopped the car and William walked over to him.

"You really do know what you're doing Ulrich."

"Thanks."

"Do you want to come with me to my go kart club?" asked William as they watched Harry drive the course. "Harry can come too. He's better than I am. We'd have a great time."

"Sure," said Ulrich. "But I can't speak for my brother."

Yumi looked at them. Harry climbed out the car.

"Hey, Harry, do you want to come to my go kart club?" asked William. Harry looked at him thoughtfully then grinned.

"Of course. You're a good person William."
