It was where the stream that flowed through Neverland's jungle and the edge of the ocean met that Peter flew to. This was the place he had taken Wendy when they were young to present her to the mermaids. It had been an awfully long time since he last saw the mermaids. Although they were spiteful beings, they gave Peter company in the most isolated of times. And now was probably the very most, however, when he softly whistled to beckon them to him, there was no response. Peter was all but sure they had given up hope on Neverland, as many of the residents had since he had perished.

He positioned himself atop the banks of the water's edge, where the water bled over each rock, creating music to sooth ones ears. What was happening to him? Why was this happening to him? Peter's emotions held him down like chains, and they overwhelmed him at this point. He let the tears flow freely, the wetness cooling his steaming red face. He was angry. Someone must take the blame for this. Sobbing immensely, he pounded his calloused fists against the earth. He could not fathom this.

Peter looked down to wear his fists lay on the ground, two coral coloured flowers crushed below from the pounding they took from Peters angry fit. Immediately feeling remorse, he observed the surroundings. It was cold and sad; far from alive. He remembered before all this happened, before… She… came to Neverland. He was so happy, and so was the land. The seas were crystal clear, and the grass was vibrant. The animals hearts welcomed him wherever he wondered with a loving embrace, but now they flashed their teeth at him and turned their backs. It all came rushing to him like he had been knocked by wave. Neverland was dying. And it was his entire fault. He had not cared for it, nor had he nourished it, but left it for dead.

Peters breathing increased to a rapid pace. He needed to do something about this. He needed to show all of the Neverbeings how much he loved them. With a crow and a burst of happy, yet determined thoughts, Peter shot into the air and headed for the one place he knew he could find help. The fairy oak tree.
