Epilogue: Luna
Graveyard, Canterlot
Local time: 1300
Six months since Steel's death
(Forever- Red vs Blue season 10)
You and I were in a dream
You'd follow close wherever I'd lead
The steps you'd echo on and on
You'd catch me safe if ever I fall
Your hand in mine, we walked along
No hill too high, no road was too long
To stay with you, my only dream
To share your life, whatever it means
I knew you'd have to go away
My love for you could not help you stay
You drifted off day by day
I cherished every breath that remained
In my arms, close to me
Your body broke, your soul was set free
You left this world, my treasured friend
The chapter closed, but love has no end
Farewell my angel…
You're with me always…
Just close your eyes now…
Next time we meet it's forever
"Another beautiful performance princess." I looked away from the grave, "Thank you nurse Redheart, he always loved music. I remember the first time he heard my voice he was so surprised that Cadence had to poke him a few times to snap him out of it." I sighed and turned back to the grave. "I hope you liked it Steel. I still miss you and not a day goes by that I don't think of you. I still wish things turned out differently but the pain has stated to subside. At least the pain I'm in is good, sort of." I winced slightly and Redheart was at my side immediately but I waved her off. "I'm fine the foal just kicked. *sigh* I wish you could be here to help our child grow. I know you'll be watching over us but… I know they'll be surrounded by a loving family and all our friends. I know I will always wonder what things would be like if you were still here." I smiled as I recalled the day the doctor told me with both joy and sadness.
"Okay princess, what's the problem." The doctor looked over a chart as I laid on the examination table. "I'm not sure. I've been having headaches, nausea and vomiting, and massive cravings, I can't go two hours without eating something." He looked over the charts, "According to these, you were perfectly fine during your last checkup. No viruses or infections… Have you been out of the country recently?" I shook my head, "No… actually I was in the Everfree a few months ago." He rubbed his chin in thought, "Maybe, I'll have to run some tests. Blood work and physical tests." He took a sample before leading me to the physical testing room. I couldn't remember why we had this room since nopony ever really gets hurt inside the castle. The tests revealed that I had less stamina than normal and my magic was slightly weaker. A week later the doctor called me back in because the blood work was finished. "Well there were a few anomalies in your blood. I found two viruses, neither seems to be effecting you but a vaccine is being made just to be safe." I nodded, I didn't think they would be a problem since I most likely got them from Steel months ago. "I also want to take a bone marrow sample to make sure there's nothing else wrong as well as one more test I would like to run. We'll do the test first since you will need to be put under for the bone sample." I nodded and laid down, "Okay first I would like you to lie on your back. Good, now I'm going to ask you some questions. Have you been taking any form of medication?" I shook my head, "Have you eaten any forging or new foods?" Another shake of my head, "Have you come into contact with any unusual plants or magical spells?" Yet another no, "Okay last question, have you been sexually active in the past three months?" That was… unexpected. "I would rather not say, it's personal. Is it necessary for you to know?" He nodded, "*sigh* Once a little more than two months ago." He wrote something on the chart, "If it's not too much trouble can you tell me who it was."
"Do you remember the alicorn Flammingsteel?" He nodded, "Yes, if I recall the papers called him the hero of the shadow war." The Shadow War, that's what everypony called our fights with Shadow Steel. After the Steel's death and burial my sister decided we should tell everypony what happened. Many ponies were already worried, in recorded history only two alicorns have died and even then they are only presumed dead since no bodies were found and they were never seen again. I am still troubled by the fact that nopony knows the fate of my parents, not even me or my sister. "It was him, almost a week before his death." He nodded sadly, "Okay I'm going to take a quick scan. You should feel a tingling sensation but nothing more. If you feel anything else let me know and I will stop." The scan went exactly as he said it would. When he was done he had a smile on his face. "Well I have good news and more good news. I found the reason for the increased estrogen levels in your blood. Princess Luna, I am happy to inform you that you're pregnant. Congratulations."
I rubbed my enlarged sides, "You know the past few days have been pretty hectic. Twilight's finally become the princess my sister has been training her to be, the coronation is today. I wonder what would have happened to you. The spell effected the elements of Harmony and swapped the destinies of the bearers. Twilight was the only one not effected. It was funny hearing how Applejack tried to make dresses. My sister wanted to give Twilight her test sooner but you- you died and no pony was ready to do anything." I felt a hoof on my shoulder, "Princess, we have to go the coronation is starting soon."
"Of course, just give me a minute. Goodbye Steel, I'll return with our daughter next time." I wanted to leave but something kept me there. I couldn't help but feel that there was something wrong with the tombstone. A tombstone, I'm surprised they even lets us use it for his grave, he is buried on the royal hill after all. The royal hill, it's quite funny when you think about it. Our ponies wanted the best place for us to be buried if when we died but we never did and after all this time I think they only kept it because it was tradition. I know the nobles, after finding out he would be buried here, wanted us to have a statue made in his likeness to commemorate his grave. We didn't because I knew that he would have wanted the small tombstone not some frivolous statue which could have paid for something important. I'm not sure I ever saw him spend a large amount of money on something he didn't need. Smiling as I realized what was wrong I changed it and headed off to the coronation. Not looking back, for I had memorized what it said…
Here lies Flammingsteel
Soldier, Friend, Husband
The Element of Courage
The Soldier of Harmony
