I don't own Harry Potter or Code Lyoko
Maiden Voyage
"For those who are not familiar with the sport, rock climbing is a noble discipline, which can carry you to great heights," said Jim. "A good climber can command both mind and body."
"Coming through!" Sirius ran through the class with paint cans, splashing paint everywhere. Harry hit his head on the wall.
"You're cleaning that up! And so, don't forget that only by challenging yourself can you move mountains, and might I add, climb them," continued Jim. "Belpois, get up there. Let's see if you're up to the challenge. This will be the practical part of today's lesson."
Jeremy stared at the climbing wall.
"Go on." Jeremy started to climb. "What's the matter? Pull up with your arms and push up with your legs. You got chewing gum for muscles or what?"
Jeremy reached for the next handhold and fell.
"Of course if the only exercise you get is clicking your computer mouse, you're not going to conquer any peaks," said Jim. "Stern! Show your roommate here how it's done!"
Harry walked over to the wall and started to climb.
Lunch Hall
"It's no big deal Jeremy," said Aelita as Herb walked past. A dollop of mash potato hit Herb and everyone laughed.
"What happened this morning?" asked Yumi.
"We had to scale the rock wall in Gym," explained Ulrich.
"Ok, enough said."
"I don't believe it…I can't be that bad at every single sport," Jeremy muttered to himself.
"Of course not! …actually no, you really are lame at anything athletic! Anyway who cares?" asked Aelita. "You can't be a champion at everything!"
"Besides, nobody could be as awesome as me," said Harry as he nudged Jeremy. "Do you want me to ask Sirius to prank someone?"
"Harry's right, stop sulking," said Odd. "We could try scaling the wall together."
"Do you think I have time for that monkey business?" asked Jeremy. "We have too much work to do."
"That's for sure," said Yumi with a small smile. "You spend all your time shut up in the computer lab. What are you working on?"
"We're ironing out the final kinks in the Skid," explained Aelita.
"You're still working on it?" asked Ulrich in surprise. "I thought it was done."
"That doesn't mean that there aren't any bugs," said Harry. "We had to add in an extra Navskid for Sirius."
"And navigating the network isn't like taking a stroll through Lyoko," said Jeremy. "The digital sea is still a complete mystery. For all we know, the Skid could disintegrate during its first dive. I'm not worried about the Lightning. Harry is a much better programmer than I am."
"Well, that's reassuring," said Odd as he started at Jeremy's food. "Can I have that?"
"Go ahead."
"Cool!" Odd grabbed the tray and started to scoff it down.
"You know, we're going to have to test it out if we want to take on Xana," said Yumi as Delmas walked in.
"Quiet down, please! I said quiet down! Quiet, I said!"
"MISTER DELMAS SAID QUIET DOWN, AND THAT MEANS NOW!" yelled Jim.
Silence immediately fell on the cafeteria. All the students were turned around, staring at Jim in shock. Jim looked very satisfied
"Ahem…thank you, Jim."
"That's all right Mr Delmas. Always glad to help."
"Yes, of course. In case you forgot, let me remind you that today is FSRP day which stands for Fire, Safety, Risk and Prevention. And so, all afternoon classes have been cancelled."
The students cheered.
"And part of this free time will be devoted to a complete building evacuation exercise. This drill is designed to make absolutely certain that you know the security procedures. Procedures that you will need to know by heart. It goes without saying that all access to the building will be prohibited. Therefore…"
"Yumi is right, you know. We'd better make a trial run in the Skid, just to see how it works," said Aelita over Mr Delmas.
"Yeah, but I don't know if we're ready yet," said Jeremy.
"We've got to try it out before Xana gets even more powerful," said Ulrich. "Harry, you gave Sirius a phone right?"
Harry nodded as the group went quiet. Jeremy observed his friends, not very convinced. Delmas finished his speech.
"Well ok, we'll take advantage of the safety drill to get over to the computer lab," said Jeremy as he gave in.
"Way to go, Jeremy," said Aelita happily.
"Yeah, cool. Text Sirius Harry."
Harry pulled out his phone and send the message.
"I wonder what the digital sea looks like," said Sissi.
"Listen up. This is only a trial run to test launch procedures."
"Relax," said Odd. "We'll just test them and come back."
Lab
"As we all know, Lyoko is made up of five sectors," said Jeremy as he pointed at a drawing. "These sectors are located in some sort of giant hollow sphere. Like an enormous virtual bubble in a liquid element. The liquid element is the network."
"And the digital sea?" asked Yumi.
"The digital sea is a part of the network," explained Aelita. "It's a kind of overflow that is accessible through a floodgate. Xana goes through this floodgate to attack us on Lyoko. The Skid and the Lightning will use this very same floodgate to get us out."
"And once we're off Lyoko, what then?" asked Ulrich.
"I'd like to know that too," said Sissi.
"Well, I'd imagine that you'd be in some sort of network," said Jeremy. "But I don't have enough data to tell you exactly what you'll find, it'll be a surprise!"
"That's fabulous, I love surprises! Well, what are we waiting for?" asked Odd as he headed towards the elevator.
"Hang on, Odd! I haven't even begun explaining about configuring the parameters of the engines, or the procedure for transferring virtual mass, or, or…"
"Don't bother, we'll work it out as we go along. Nothing like hands-on experience!" interrupted Odd.
"Skip the lecture," said Sirius. "I had enough of those at school."
"It'll be fine," said Aelita as everyone stepped into the elevator. "I'll be with them."
Scanners
"You there yet?" asked Jeremy as everyone ran in. "I'll start up the procedure."
"Ladies first," said Ulrich as he allowed the three girls to step into the scanners.
"Transfer Yumi. Transfer Sissi. Transfer Aelita. Scanner Yumi. Scanner Sissi. Scanner Aelita. Virtualisation."
The scanners opened and the three boys stepped in.
"Transfer Harry. Transfer Odd. Transfer Ulrich. Scanner Harry. Scanner Odd. Scanner Ulrich. Virtualisation."
Lyoko
"Ok, we're all here," said Harry as Sirius fell on his backside again. "You know there's a drop Sirius."
"Your elevator is waiting."
They ran to the edge of the platform and walked onto the elevator which took them to the hanger.
"It's beautiful, huh?" asked Yumi.
"Fantastic."
"Einstein, we made it. Now what do we do?" asked Odd.
"Harry knows what to do for him and the others need to stand on a transporter spot."
Harry ran to the Lightning as everyone stood on a spot.
"Well, who's driving?" asked Odd.
"I am of course," said Aelita.
"You guys ready?" asked Jeremy as he set the procedure up. "Energise."
"It's working Jeremy," said Aelita in amazement as they moved to the Skid. She looked at the controls. "Everything's in place according to plan. Opening interface. Cockpit to Navskids, do you read me?"
"Loud and clear Aelita," said Yumi.
"Same here," said Ulrich and Sissi.
"This is cool, it's like being in a spaceship," said Odd.
"Yeah, but be careful, Odd. This isn't Galactic Invaders!" reminded Ulrich.
"Yeah, yeah! You're just jealous 'because I wiped out three times as many aliens as you did last night!"
"Because you cheated as usual!"
"What's a spaceship?" asked Sirius.
"Ok, if you're done blabbering, can we get on with the job?" asked Jeremy. "How's Harry?"
"I don't know," said Aelita. "I hope he's ok. We're standing by Jeremy."
"Ok. Get ready for lift off. Releasing supports."
The supports retracted.
"We have ignition. Power vertical. For you, Daddy…"
The Skid started to move upwards.
"All indicators are go," said Jeremy. "You guys are clear for leaving sector five."
They left the main sector and floated around the Celestial dome.
"We still haven't seen Harry," said Sissi."
"Woo hoo!" The Lightning flew around the Skid. "This is great!"
"Oh, give us a heart attack, why don't you?" asked Sirius.
"Tunnel opening in two seconds."
They flew through the opened tunnel and into the desert sector.
"It's working Jeremy! Our Skid is working!"
"Great job!"
Jeremy opened a can and took several gulps.
"Good, the test was a success. Aelita, are you ready to turn around?"
Everyone complained.
"How are we meant to test this thing?" asked Odd.
"We just did. A dry run."
"A test in the digital sea. Otherwise, what's the point?" asked Ulrich. Harry took a position just beside the Skid.
"They're right Jeremy," said Aelita. "If we just stay in the sky of Lyoko, it isn't much of a dry run. Don't you want to see what the network looks like?"
"Well, I'm going," said Harry as he shot down to the digital sea.
"Don't be reckless Harry," said Sirius worriedly.
"He knows what he's doing," said Ulrich.
"Ohhh…I feel like I'm going to regret this, but ok! Get ready to dive into the digital sea. Ten minutes maximum."
"Yeah!"
"Shields activated. Sonar activated. Stabilising online and checked out. Primary access clear. Laser generators online. Cockpit to Navskids, ready to dive?"
"Ready!"
"Any time princess!"
Harry paused just above the digital sea.
"Here we go!"
The Skid descended, paused and entered the digital sea. Harry followed.
"Base lab to Skid, do you read me? Lab calling Skid, Aelita come in! Answer please!" Jeremy crushed his can.
"Skid to base lab! We're in the digital sea."
"We're in one piece!" called Harry as he flew circles around the Skid.
"Stop showing off Harry," called Sirius.
"That's what I wanted to hear. I nearly had a heart attack."
They exited the floodgate into the network.
"Holoweb system online. Well? What does it look like?"
"Like an upside down city," said Harry.
"I'm sending you a visual Jeremy," said Aelita as she quickly pressed buttons. "It's beautiful."
"Wow."
"You said it Einstein," said Odd.
"Where are Xana's monsters?" asked Harry. "I wouldn't be surprised if he developed some underwater ones."
"Is he paranoid?" asked Sirius.
"I would be surprised if he wasn't," said Yumi. "What with all the times Xana attacked him."
The Skid rotated.
"Aelita, engage the turbo to break free of Lyoko's gravity field."
"Right. Whatever you say. Turbo propeller engaged."
The turbo started up and they moved away from Lyoko. Harry continued to fly around them.
"Can you stop that Harry?" asked Sissi. "You're making me dizzy."
"Spoilsport." Harry settled by the side of the Skid as they flew past blocks.
"Ok Guys," said Jeremy as he finished a can. "Time to head for home."
"Aw but can't we say here a little longer?" asked Odd.
"I'll give you the puppy eyes," said Sirius as he pouted.
"You're more of a child that we are," said harry as he danced between the blocks.
"I said ten minutes Odd."
"Turning around."
Harry and the Skid changed course.
"What's going on?" asked Jeremy as error signs popped up. "Aelita! I don't know why, but I just lost all trace of you on my radar. It might just be a transmission problem, can you check it out?"
"Jeremy, the navigation system doesn't respond. There's a bug in it," said Aelita as she checked.
"Mine's fine," said Harry.
"This can't be! Without a navigation system you'll never find your way back to Lyoko! You'll be stuck, floating on the network until you use up all the Skid's virtual power reserves," warned Jeremy as he crushed the can again.
"And then what?" asked Yumi.
"Once the virtual energy is exhausted, the Skid'll break up, and you'll all end up in the Digital Sea for good," explained Jeremy.
"Eternal virtualisation…like my father…"
"Oh that's just great…" moaned Ulrich.
"My father will kill me," groaned Sissi.
"By the way, Einstein, I hope you've got a solution because I didn't bring my bathing suit," said Odd as he tried to lighten the situation.
"Well, I'll have to debug the program except there are several million codes to crack. By then, you'll all be in the drink. It would be a lot faster if Harry did it but he's the only one with a working navigation system. I have some programs that might debug it but I'll have to go get them from my room."
"Oh that's cool, Einstein. You couldn't have brought the stuff with you?" asked Odd.
"Hey, I wasn't the one who insisted on doing this trial run, Odd, so just cool it if you don't mind!"
"If people try to stop you, tell them I let you in," said Sirius.
"It won't help to get all worked up so run and get the CD," said Aelita. "We'll wait."
"Ok. I'll be right back. Whatever you do, don't move from there!"
"Very funny!"
"Or you could all follow me," suggested Harry. "I could navigate. Oh, my invisibility cloak is in my wardrobe. Put it on when you get there."
"This place does look like a city," said Odd.
"It's calm here," said Sissi. "Not like Lyoko with all its monsters."
"If you ask me, all these buildings are the networks interconnected databases," said Aelita. "How about we turn on some light?"
Kadic
Jeremy pushed the manhole open and climbed out quickly before running to the school.
"Belpois! What are you doing here?" asked Jim as he stopped Jeremy. "What aren't you with all of the other kids in the school yard?"
"Fire safety day. I forgot all about it. Just my luck."
"Go on. Hurry up. If the principal sees you here, he'll ring my bell."
"I need to get something from my room, i-it'll just take a second," said Jeremy. "Sirius said I could."
"Oh no you don't! You're just using that as an excuse. You were all warned this morning, and a warning in hand is worth two in a…bushling! Beat it!"
Jeremy started to move and Jim turned to the firefighters.
"Did I ever tell you about when I fought forest fires?"
Lyoko
Do you think we'll ever see the light of day?" asked Odd.
"We will," said Harry resolutely. "We'll fix this. Don't worry."
The sea turned red.
"Is this meant to happen?" asked Sissi.
"It's strange," said Aelita.
"Prepare for monsters," said Harry.
Kadic
Jeremy hid behind a pillar as he saw a teacher. He quickly ran inside the dorms when the teacher wasn't looking.
"Another teacher standing guard? What is this, Fort Knox?!" asked Jeremy to himself as he saw another teacher. "Well, there isn't any other way."
He ran and climbed onto the roof to reach his room without being caught.
"This is not going to be a piece of cake! Ok…let's do it!"
He held his arms out and started to walk. He reached the corner and looked down. Jeremy's vision blurred and he swung round the corner before slipping and grabbing the top. A tile slid down the roof. Jeremy climbed back up with difficulty.
"Who said climbing can take you to great heights? …I guess I should monkey around more often!"
He continued to an open window and dropped in. he ran to his dorm and picked up his CD. Jeremy opened Harry's wardrobe and picked up his invisibility clock. He put it on and disappeared.
Digital sea
"You guys see that dark thing up there?" asked Ulrich as a sphere came into view.
"Aelita, you think that's Lyoko?" asked Yumi as Aelita turned the lights up.
"I don't know, but whatever it is, its gravity is pulling us towards it!"
"It's not Lyoko," said Harry as he checked his navigation. "Lyoko is a fair distance away."
"Oh, I'd love to see that paper-pusher Einstein's face when he figures out that we didn't need his help to come back in," said Odd as they neared the sphere.
"Yeah, nice to be back on Lyoko," agreed Ulrich.
"But it's not Lyoko!"
"Huh?" asked Odd and Ulrich.
"What?" asked Ulrich.
"It's not Lyoko!" repeated Aelita. "Hang on now, retro brakes!"
They stopped, reversed and Harry joined them.
"It's a replika," said Harry. "Xana's copies of a sector of Lyoko."
"There's something else up ahead," said Yumi as they saw two monsters.
"Hey look, it's Ugly and Uglier! They look like some sort of eel," said Ulrich.
"I've never met an eel I didn't like," said Odd.
"Are those monsters?" asked Sirius.
"I think so," said Harry.
"I'm breaking off," said Aelita as she dodged the laser fire. Harry fired back and they stopped firing.
"I've seen spiked heels, but spiked eels?" asked Odd. "Never!"
"You see weirder things in the Wizarding world," said Sirius.
"Holy cow, Aelita! Be careful, or you'll get us all killed! Who taught you how to pilot?!" asked Odd as Aelita tried to shake the monsters off.
"You did, Odd!"
"We'll never make it," said Yumi sadly. Harry hit one and it blew up. He focused on the other one.
"We're underwater and they still blow up?"
"I know Yumi. The Skid is nearly out of energy and we could disintegrate at any moment."
"I'm back," said Jeremy as he sat down and inserted the disc. "How are you holding up?"
"We're in trouble," said Aelita. "Xana's attacking us with some kind of fish. Have you started the debugging?"
"Yes but you're burning away too much power. If this continues, you'll be gone before the debugging's done."
"That rhymes."
"Not the time Harry! We have to buy some time."
"But how?" asked Aelita. Harry facepalmed.
"Get those Kongres off your tail then launch the Navskids."
"What? We're going to fight them one-on-one?" asked Odd as more swam up. Harry groaned.
"Exactly, Odd! Just like in Galactic Invaders!"
"Navskids away."
Aelita pulled some levers and the Navskids detached.
"Hey, these are more manoeuvrable than the Overboard! GANGWAAAAY!" yelled Odd as he charged at the monsters.
"Be careful. If you get hit, you'll be lost at sea," warned Jeremy.
"This is one great firefight," said Sirius as he hit one. Harry hit another.
"Don't forget that the Navskids autonomy is limited," reminded Jeremy as he watched the screen.
"These things are hard to hit," said Sissi as she missed.
"Don't try to work any miracles. Just keep them away from the Skid."
"Hey, fish freak! Looking for some more bait?" asked Ulrich as he passed one. It followed him and Harry hit it from the side.
"The program is debugged and I'm sending you the coordinated. Get out of there."
The Navskids re-joined the Skid and they headed to Lyoko.
Lab
"I would never have thought that the world information network was a real live ocean," said Jeremy as everyone joined him.
"Yeah, with fish and everything! Big ones too," said Odd as he mimed fish swimming.
"To think that my father is in the network somewhere…" said Aelita thoughtfully.
"Yeah, and so is William…" mused Yumi.
"We'll find him," said Harry. "And get him back."
"That huge sphere we saw, what was that anyway?" cased Sirius.
"Another virtual world just like Lyoko, a replica that Xana must have created from the data that he stole from Aelita. I really wonder what he's thinking of doing with it…" said Jeremy.
"Nothing good," said Harry. "I could always try to get information out of Xana."
"Too risky. You might not get out of it."
"We'll go and explore it!" exclaimed Ulrich.
"Yeah!" agreed Odd.
"Right. But not tonight! The only thing that I feel like exploring is my bed, I'm wiped out," said Jeremy as the exhaustion hit him.
"You're wiped out from sitting in your cushy chair? How do you think we should feel then?" asked Odd.
"Odd, if I told you what I was doing while you were on the network, you'd never believe me!"
"Lemme take a wild guess, ok? Uh, you did a little rock scaling on the dormitory roof?" asked Odd.
"Huh?! But how'd you know that?!" asked Jeremy in surprise.
"Huh?"
They burst out laughing.
"You know, Einstein? You can be really hilarious when you want to be, even when you don't want to be!"
