"Unfreeze!" I continued to yell, frantically digging though all the rocks, freeing all the pokemon that had been in the battle. It had been about half an hour. Still no reaction. "Unfreeze!"

"Hydra?"

I turned to see Kan climbing over the rocks, trying to reach me. "Hydra, what's wrong?"

I was about to tell him what happened, but stopped myself. What if I said something wrong and he froze too? I shook my head. "Unfreeze!"

He looked at everyone. "Hydra, why are they frozen?"

I continued to shake my head. "Unfreeze!"

"Hydra, I need to know what's going on." He started to move closer.

I started backing up. "Unfreeze!" He was getting to close. If he stayed here, it was very possible I would freeze him as well. I shot a shadow ball at him. "Unfreeze!"

He jumped out of the way. "Whoa, wait, Hydra!"

I attacked him with trump card. "Unfreeze!"

He backed away quickly. "I'm going to get help." He ran off. I wanted to tell him to stop, but it was too risky. I just continued digging pokemon out from the rubble.

After a while, I saw Kan running over with Dendy. "Hydra!" She yelled. "What are you doing?"

I started crying again. "Unfreeze!"

Without warning, someone jumped me from above, grabbing a hold of me. I struggled. I had to get away from them. "Unfreeze!"

"Hydra!" It was Korado . "You have to calm down!"

I just couldn't break free. I stopped struggling. "Please, unfreeze."

There was the sound of movement. I looked to see everyone mobile again. This included the fake War, but I didn't care. They were safe.

"How did you do that?" Kan asked. "Hydra, what did you do?"

I couldn't say anything. I just sobbed. "Everyone leave," Kasuai said, changing back to her normal form, along with Auroc and Absolum. "Now."

All of her workers obeyed immediately, as did the rest of the Geoaxes. Some of the enemy that was still here was slower. "Now!" Kasuai yelled. They took off running.

War led us over to a small building that appeared to once be an apartment building. He led us to the top floor. He stopped in front of one of the doors and grabbed a key that was hidden in a vase next to it. He opened it and led us in. It was light by a few oil lamps and candles, but that was it.

Kan shut the door. "Will someone explain what is going on?"

I tried hard to stop crying. "I've always had this ability where if I scream in fear I make pokemon freeze and then can make them do whatever I want, but sometimes I can't control it. Last time I couldn't control it someone was nearly killed." I couldn't help it. I continued to cry.

"How did you know where she was?" Lilly asked.

"I had people watching the geoaxes as well, but we are farther away from their territory than you guys, so it took me longer to get there."

I felt someone rubbing my back. It was Kasuai. Everyone just sat in silence. Finally my crying turned to small gasps. "Hydra," Kasuai said. "I have something important to tell you." I looked at her.

"You didn't freeze us."

It felt like my heart had stopped. I hadn't frozen them? "What do you mean?"

"The second I froze, I tried extremely hard to free myself. It was a pokemon's attack, no doubt, but it didn't come from you. It was coming from a different source. I could tell because when it tightened around me when I was struggling, the move seemed to be coming from a long distance away. You didn't do it."

I sat in stunned silence, and in pure relief. "Really?"

"Now that I'm thinking about it," War said, "it did feel like it was an attack. The weird thing was that it seemed to fluctuate in power. One moment it felt like it was crushing me and the next it was much looser, like it was two different types of attacks.

"Wait, this is crazy," Kan said. "Why would you people even think she could do it in the first place?"

"Because I can create ice at will, Ore can manipulate stone, and Absolum can cause disasters," Auroc said. "Just to give you a few examples."

"Now the real question is who is trying to make her think she can do that," Korado said, "and why."

"It is kind of suspicious," Dendy said. "Think about it. The day the Geoaxes nearly lose to their enemy is the same day that Hydra loses control of her 'power'. Whoever is doing it is probably in league with whoever is attacking and impersonating War."

"But what is their motive?" Lilly said. "It just doesn't make any sense."

"I might know," Kasuai said. "Does anyone here remember the underground research facility before the Apocalypse?"

"Vaguely," Korado said. "Didn't it get shut down?"

"Exactly. They had been forced to shut down because they were doing unlawful experiments. What if whatever they were doing has something to do with this?"

"It's the best lead we have," Lilly said, standing up. "Unnaturals, we are heading back to base to prepare. We are going to the facility."

"Are you sure about this?" Kan said.

"Positive." Lilly said. "Nobody messes with my gang."

"Then let us help," Korado said. "I can take a small group of flyers and station them near the facility's entrance. I can also have some look out for anyone headed your way."

"I'm not letting you have all the glory," War said. "You'll need my help down there. Nobody knows underground better than a ground type."

"If War's going, I'm going," Kasuai said. "This is beyond him just getting in gang fights, so I'm going to be there to make sure he stays safe."

Dendy nodded as well. "As for us, we can set up a hug command center. We have some pretty good technology that could really come in handy.

Kan sighed. "You all are crazy. I guess I can help as well. I'll head in with you guys. If someone does come your way, I'll have some of my men stop them."

"An excellent plan."

We all jumped when we heard Kannin speak. "How did you get in here?" War asked.

"You might want a better hiding spot for that key. Though props for the safe room. It's soundproof and moveproof."

"What are you doing here?" Kedo asked.

"Oh, I had just watched your little battle since I had been collecting a few items in the area. I must say, Lilly, it appears you have a very rare ability."

She looked at him quizzically. "What ability?"

"Didn't you notice? While you battled, I saw you use the moves acid armor, hydro pump, iron tail, double team, and shadow ball. Do you see what I'm getting at?"

It dawned on us what he was saying. "You don't think-"

"I do. There was another odd thing. That bracelet I gave you, do you know what it is?"

"I do," War said. "It's for causing mega evolution. I have a ring that does the same thing."

"Correct. The stones I gave Auroc and Absolum are the mega stones lucarionite and absolite. They allow lucarios and absols to mega evolve. Though War, can you tell me what's odd about how she did it?"

He thought hard for a moment, then looked shocked. "She mega evolved them both."

"Exactly! No one else is able to mega evolve more than one pokemon per battle. You have the ability to break limits that other pokemon can't!"

Lilly looked shocked. "Really?"

"Yes, it is quite amazing. Anyway, I would love to help you, but there is nothing I can do but give you these." He held out a small diamond. "I think you'll find this really useful." With that, he left.

"Well we best be getting ready," Lilly said. "Everyone back to the base."

We exited the building and headed towards our base, Kasuai, War, and Kan coming with us. I walked by Kasuai. "Hey Kasuai, why didn't you want to tell us that you were War's older sister?"

"He didn't want anyone to know," she said. "With me running a Freeland and him entering this tournament, he thought it would be best. He didn't want people to not trust me, and he also didn't want people to think he was doing good in the tournament just because his sister was a judge."

"Did he used to live in Stele?"

"No. He was only a nidoran when the apocalypse happened, and we got separated during it. Then one day he came to Stele looking for members, now a nidoking, and there was no doubt in my mind on who he was."

We finally made it to our base. We walked inside and Lilly started grabbing supplies. Soon she had it all in a bag, which she put over her shoulder. "Alright, I think we're ready."

"Hey, Hydra," Eriff said, "When did you get another bow?"

"What?"

He walked over and lifted up the end of a bow. I still had the one Kannin gave me on my ear, but now there was an identical one on my neck.

"I didn't ever get this," I said.

"Well either way, it's really cute!" Kasuai said. "Can I try it on? Please?"

"Sure." Kasuai walked over and grabbed the ends, pulling to untie it. But something weird happened. It felt like she was pulling my neck.

She backed away. "Um, Hydra, why isn't it coming off?"

I started to panic. "Try the one on my ear." She pulled on that one too, but it also felt like she was pulling on me. "What's going on?"

"Those look like Sylveon bows," Dendy said.

"Sylveon?"

"The fairy eeveelution from the Kalos region," Korado said.

"But it looks like you just stopped mid evolution," Kan said. "Look at her ears."

He pulled one of my ears down so I could look at them, and the tips were died pink. "Your tail looks like this as well. I can't believe we didn't notice. There are streaks of pink around your feet as well."

"But, but," Eriff stuttered, looking horrified, "how is this possible?"

"Do you know more about this?" I asked.

"Lots of pokemon want to evolve, so they just let it happen. If they don't want it to happen, they will keep themselves from evolving, either by move, concentration, or everstone. Then, on very few occasions, there is a defect in the evolution process that causes the pokemon to stop evolving mid evolution. Their bodies will already have changed, and you can't go down the evolution scale, except in mega evolution. Due to such great changes in to that body, stopping midway can be fatal. It's known as fatolution, which comes from the words 'fatal evolution'. An average of .00001% percent of pokemon that have this happen to them survive."

Ice clutched my heart. "So I'm going to die?"

"I don't think so, but I want to run a medical exam just to be sure. We need to go upstairs to the infirmary."

We all went upstairs, and he had me sit on one of the beds. He started going through the routine, checking my temperature, heartbeat, blood pressure, breathing, things like that. Then he did an X-ray of me, along with a scan with this big machine with green lights.

He was at the computer, looking over all the information. "You are perfectly fine. None of your organs were harmed in any way. Everything is fine. If fact, I think your lungs and heart have improved, along with your muscles. Though there is something else rather interesting. You seem to have gained access to both an eevee's movepool and a sylveon's. That pink attack you fired when we were fighting was moonblast."

"So I'm not going to die?" I asked.

"No, you're more than healthy."

"Thank goodness."

"Well, now that we know none of us are dying, we best be on our way," Lilly said. "Now, should anything happen, and we get separated, there needs to be a regrouping point."

"My house," Gani said. "It's remote and very few people know where it is. Kannin is one of these people."

"Sounds good," Lilly said. "Let's head to this facility, and whatever monster of a pokemon is hiding inside it."
