Hypnosis

"It's really bad that William fell under Xana's control again," sighed Jeremy as he and Harry worked on a way to free him. Again.

"I really pity him," said Harry. "He didn't ask for it and he's been Xanafied twice. I could have done something to help free him. It's my fault. I'm going out for a walk, clear my head. I promised to meet Sissi anyway."

"See you in a bit."

Harry stretched as he stood and walked out the door. Jeremy glanced at his watch before following Harry out the door. He didn't notice the scan coming up with an activated tower.

Ulrich

Ulrich yawned. Odd had been playing his game all night. It was good for him that it was Sunday. He stumbled out of bed and put his clothes on.

"Time to get up Odd." He shook him softly.

"Five more minutes." Odd turned over and snored.

"Don;'t sleep in all day," said Ulrich as he shook his head with a small smile and walked out to meet Yumi.

Outside

"Where's Odd?" asked Yumi as she watched Ulrich exit the building.

"Still sleeping. He was playing a game till late in the night," explained Ulrich as he joined her. "And now he's exhausted. Hey Jeremy."

"Odd still sleeping?" asked Jeremy. Ulrich nodded. "Odd is so lazy."

"At least you don't have to be woken up by his game!"

"Stop being a wimp," said Yumi a she playfully punched Ulrich. "You can stand one night of little sleep."

"I think everyone can stand one night of lost sleep," said Aelita wit ha small smile. "But not like Harry has been. He's always tired now."

"He blames himself again," said Jeremy as he sighed sadly. "He's taken it up to free William, no matter the cost to himself."

Harry

Harry say down on a bench and rubbed his head. "What are you up to Xana? What are you planning?"

He glanced around at the empty park. "Where is everyone? There are normally more people than just me here."

Harry stood up and started to hurry out of the area as he could sense Xana was attacking and nearby. He yelped in surprise as he was grabbed from behind. Harry tried to turn to smoke but it failed. He started to struggle. A chuckle sounded in his ear.

"Stop it Harry. You know you can't escape me. You will be set free."

"William, let me go. Set free from what anyway?"

William pressed him to his chest and grabbed his chin. "Set free from your world. Your friends won't be able to help you this time."

Harry winced as he was forced to look forward. He watched as a spectre appeared in front of them and pulled out a coin on a string.

"Hypnotism... Do you really have to grip so hard?"

Harry screwed his eyes shut as the force on his chin lessened. William sighed as Harry continued to struggle.

"You want this Harry. You want to serve Xana. You want the sense of unity. That is what you desire deep down. A world where everyone is equal. I have seen you for who you are so I know this to be true."

Harry slowly opened his eyes as he realised William was right. He focused on the coin as it spun and eventually his eyes glazed over. William relaxed and released him. Harry stared vacantly at a spot as the spectre headed to Kadic.

"Go to Lyoko. Wait for me there." Harry ran off. William watched him go then smiled. "Now to prepare... welcome back Harry."

He faded away.

Everyone else

"Where's Harry?" asked Sissi as she walked over to the group. "We were supposed to meet at the park but he wasn't there. Has something happened to him?"

"I don't know," said Jeremy with a frown. He pulled out his laptop. "Oh no."

"Xana attack?" asked Ulrich.

Jeremy nodded. "He went after Harry again. That's why he's taking so long. If he catches him by surprise..."

"It turns into a serious problem," finished Aelita.

"Go get Odd," said Jeremy. "Everyone else to the factory. I'll go check the park. I have this feeling that Harry won't answer his phone."

They separated as the spectre found them. It cloned itself and ran after them.

Lab

Harry sat down and started the delayed virtualisation program after writing a message. His eyes were still glazed over. He stood up and wandered to the scanners.

Park

Jeremy bent down and looked at the ground.

"What happened to you Harry?"

The spectre crept up on him and Jeremy ran as soon as he noticed it.

Lyoko

Harry dropped down and waited in the forest sector. He didn't have to wait long. William smiled as he walked over and stroked Harry's face.

"Good boy. Come with me."

He headed down one of the paths. Harry followed him obediently. They didn't have to go far before they encountered a Scyphozoa. William turned to Harry.

"Submit yourself."

Harry took a step them froze, his foot in mid-air.

"Stay there then."

Harry put his foot back down as the Scyphozoa advanced and gently wrapped its tentacles around him. It pressed three to his head and red light flashed in them. A horde of mixed monsters arrived and surrounded them. William simply watched, a slight smile on his face.

"Finally Harry. We are one again."

Jeremy

Everyone hid behind trees as they watched the spectre guarding the manhole.

"What now?" whispered Sissi. "We can't wait. Harry could be under Xana's control by now."

Jeremy looked at Ulrich and Odd. They gave him a thumbs up before running out and distracting the spectre. Everyone else used the distraction to slip into the manhole as Odd and Ulrich doubled back. The spectre returned as they pulled the cover over the hole.

Lyoko

The Scyphozoa released Harry after half an hour had passed and William pulled him into a hug. Harry smiled as he relaxed.

"Who am I?" asked William as he met Harry's gaze. Harry cocked his head.

"William. My teammate." William nodded.

"You know what you have to do."

Harry nodded and slipped out of William's grasp. He sat crossed legged on the floor and closed his eyes.

"I'm ready Xana."

William stood guard as Xana worked on Harry who occasionally shivered. A faint red aura surrounded him.

Lab

Jeremy ran to the terminal and typed furiously away.

"Well?" asked Ulrich impatiently. "Is he there?"

"We're too late."

Everyone froze.

"How?" asked Yumi. Jeremy picked up a scrap of paper and looked at it.

"This is Harry's handwriting."

Everyone crowded around the seat and read the note.

"Hypno? What is Harry talking about?" asked Odd.

"I think he means hypnotism," said Aelita. "He must have been hypnotised. That's why he fell under Xana's influence so quickly. If he was ordered to submit, he would have done it because of the suggestive state he was in. Even if he did wake up, the command would remain in his subconscious. He probably did this without thinking about it."

"We've lost," said Jeremy as he put his head in his arms. "We can't fight Harry. It's going to take a miracle."

"We can get him back, right?" asked Yumi. "There's a chance, especially if Franz comes out of hiding. We still have to deactivate the tower."

Jeremy nodded and started up the right programs as the rest walked to the scanners.

Lyoko

"Where are they?" asked Ulrich as soon as he climbed to his feet.

"Don't be hasty," warned Aelita. "We don't know what state Harry's in. We know that he's Xanafied but we don't know if he can be freed."

"Is that them?" asked Yumi as she pointed at a group of monsters. They ran towards it.

"Harry," called Sissi as they reached the group. Harry wrapped his arms around his legs and ignored her. Sissi made to move towards him but William blocked her path.

"I can't let you interfere." He swung his sword and Sissi backed off. William turned his attention to Harry as the monsters attacked. "Nearly there now Harry. You know what to do."

Harry's chest glowed red as the yin yang symbol was replaced by the eye of Xana. Harry opened his eyes and William pulled him up. Harry leant into him and smiled.

"Harry!" called Aelita as she hit a tarantula. "You can't let Xana win! If you do that, we lose everything we hold dear. You never wanted to serve Xana, remember?"

Harry walked to the edge of the path and waited.

"What's he doing now?" asked Sissi as William ran at her. "What the..."

She flaked apart as William removed his giant sword.

"He's waiting for something," said Yumi as she threw her fans at William. He deflected them with his sword. A familiar pink ball rose out of the digital sea.

"VICTORY!" yelled William as the monsters focused on the ball. "FIRE!"

"Guys, protect Franz," said Jeremy urgently as Franz was hit. "He's the only chance of freeing Harry."

Ulrich ran forward and attempted to pin Harry down but missed. Harry looked down at him from behind.

"Fool."

"Trying to get Harry pinned down is like trying to catch air," moaned Odd as Harry walked back to the edge. Harry sneered at Ulrich.

"You cannot beat me."

"I can delay you though," said Ulrich as he pointed his sword at Harry. "You're my brother, not a servant of Xana."

"I have always served Xana. Even when I was free, I served him."

"That doesn't make any sense," said Ulrich in confusion. "If you're free, you're not serving anyone."

"Harry, you are our friend," said Jeremy in slight desperation. "You can fight back."

Aelita hit several hornets then destroyed a Blok. Odd flipped and destroyed the last Krabe. Harry watched them closely as another Krabe turned up. Franz reached the path and floated towards Harry who smiled and backed away.

"As I expected."

William placed his hand on Harry's shoulder and squeezed gently. Harry snorted.

"Ok, did someone say something funny?" asked Odd as he stared at Harry. "Because I didn't. And I prefer the old outfit Harry."

"I think William just said something privately to Harry that Harry found funny," said Yumi as she shrugged.

Harry glanced at them and felt a twinge of regret. He squashed it down. His mental conditioning wouldn't allow him to do anything else with it. Harry pulled out a shuriken and threw it. Yumi jumped in front of Franz and took the blow. She devirtualised. Franz shot forward and picked up Harry. William growled and swung his sword.

"You will not take Harry."

Franz shot towards the digital sea and slipped into it causing William to miss.

"NOOOOO!"

Ulrich barely had time to defend himself as William attacked in a blind rage.

"Uh, the spectre is here guys!" warned Jeremy as Yumi took up a fighting position.

"Go Aelita!"

Aelita ran past the fighting boys. William swung his sword and Aelita devirtualised as the energy wave hit her.

"Now we can't deactivate the tower," said Odd. Ulrich slumped and William stabbed him. He advanced on Odd.

Harry

Harry rubbed his eyes. He looked around the room.

"What happened?"

"You were Xanafied again."

Harry turned to look at him.

"Uncle Franz. Please tell me I didn't do anything serious."

"The only thing you did was act as bait for me. Xana knew that I would attempt to free you."

Harry smiled bitterly. "It was a win-win situation for him. You would be lured out and Xana would have a shot at destroying you or you wouldn't appear and he'd have me at his beck and call."

Franz sighed. "I didn't foresee Xana circumventing the protections I put in place. He's a tricky one."

"Like the hypnotism and being unconscious."

"Exactly. I'll have to find a way to stop that." Franz paused. "The programs Xana put in place to control you are gone now."

"I wouldn't be surprised to find that Xana hid a summon command," muttered Harry as he stood up and rubbed his arms. "And he'll use it to bring me to him."

"It's time for you to return to Lyoko. You're sorely needed."

Harry bitterly smiled. "I doubt they want me back. Not after being Xanafied again."

"You'll be surprised. They know that you didn't go to Xana of your own free will." Franz closed his eyes. "Talking about Xana, he left you a few gifts. I think he was preparing to make you a host for him."

"You mean he was going to make me more than just a servant?" asked Harry as he paled. "More like take over my body fully?"

Franz nodded slowly. "Or at least part-time. That could be the reason why he added a supercomputer to your brain."

"WHAT?!" Harry started in shock. "A supercomputer? In my head? I don't remember Xana adding anything like that to me when he started the mental conditioning."

"Haven't you noticed?" Harry shook his head. "Well, I guess you haven't had chance to fully integrate it yet and Xana probably hid it from you or ordered you to forget about it."

"Why would Xana want to make me even more powerful? I'm already a one man army. Xana had to know that there was a chance of me being freed."

"He also gave you everything on every subject under the sun."

"Now that is useful. I'd better go deactivate that tower."

"Good luck Harry Hopper."

Harry stiffened as he faded away.

Lyoko

Harry stretched as he stood in the forest sector.

"Where is everyone?"

He ran into a tower and pulled up the news. It showed an army of spectres overrunning the town

"The town is being overrun by these people of unknown origin. Citizens are being advised to stay indoors to avoid being caught in the crossfire."

Harry closed the window and ran out the tower after sending an email.

Kadic

"There's nothing we can do," said Jeremy sadly as they sat in his dorm. The spectre has knocked them out and dumped them there then locked the door. "We don't know how Harry is and we can't deactivate the tower."

"Well, if Xana wins this, we'll probably have to go into hiding," said Yumi. "We're the greatest threat to him."

"Without Harry, we're not," said Ulrich bitterly. "And we're sitting ducks. Xana knows we're here and we can't escape. The spectre melted the locks shut."

Jeremy's computer beeped and everyone looked at it.

"Aren't you going to check that?" asked Aelita as Jeremy didn't move.

"What's the point?" Aelita stared at him. "Alright. But don't get your hopes up."

He opened it and everyone peered over his shoulder.

"The ninja requests the advice of the fairy, the samurai, the cat, the geisha, the angel and Einstein," read Odd. "What does that mean?"

Jeremy banged his head on the table. "Harry. It has to be Harry."

He connected the computer to the supercomputer.

"Harry?"

"I see you got my email," called Harry. Everyone grinned. "Where's the tower so I can go deactivate it?"

"It's due north," said Jeremy as he checked.

"Good to have you back buddy," said Odd with a huge grin. "Looks like we're back in action."

"I'd better get going and I guess I'll have to launch a return to the past. We've always been in action Odd. Where's William?"

"He disappeared after he defeated us," said Aelita. "Keep an eye out."

Harry ran as fast as he could. I.e. very fast.

Lyoko

Harry peeked out from behind a tree.

"No monsters? That's odd. It's like Xana isn't expecting me. Or he wants me to go to the tower."

He faded out of view and ran to the tower.

"Hello Harry." Harry stopped and faced William. "I know you're here somewhere. Show yourself."

"So you can give me to the Scyphozoa?"

William looked around wildly.

"Show yourself. You already know the answer to that question."

"Just as you know that I won't show myself and you know where I will be," said Harry as he rolled his eyes and entered the tower. He knew that William would follow. He glanced back and paled slightly as red ripples preceded William's entrance. He quickly rose to the next platform.

"Any more towers?"

"No. That's the only one. Xana's a bit of an idiot," said Jeremy. "Relying on just one tower."

Harry set up the return to the past and the familiar light expanded from the computer.

Earlier

"Don't worry me like that again," said Sissi as she pulled Harry into a hug. Odd made kissing faces at them and Harry glared daggers at him.

"At least the invasion is off," said Yumi with a smile.

"Yeah, at least everyone is safe," agreed Ulrich.

"Xana put a supercomputer in my head." Everyone looked confused. "He plans to make me a permanent host."

"A supercomputer in your head. Now that is interesting," muttered Jeremy. "I'll have to research this."

"He also gave me a ton of information." Harry made a face. "I'm having a hard time dealing with it."

"How much information?" asked Aelita.

"Everything under the sun apparently. Xana's mistake was assuming that I would stay under his command. And that I would stay hidden with Franz."

"Don't go getting hypnotised again," ordered Ulrich.

"It's not on my to do list."
