The Lake

"You can take your hand luggage on board but everything else has to go down here," said Jim as people handed him their bags and climbed aboard the bus.

"What if Xana attacks while we're away?" asked Jeremy as they lined up.

"After all the hard work we put in this week, I think we get a vacation," said Aelita with a small smile. "This would be the first time we go on a trip together as well."

"What program are you talking about?" asked Ulrich curiously.

"Shoring up the protection shields on the Skid," explained Harry as he gave his bag to Jim. "Just in case. And don't tempt fate Jeremy. Now Xana is going to attack."

"Della Robbia! Weren't you listening? You gotta store the suitcase!" yelled Jim as he stopped Odd.

"You said that having a carry-on was ok! Look, I'm carrying it," pointed out Odd. Sissi snickered. They climbed on the bus and Odd snapped a biscuit in two. He leant down and Kiwi ate it.

"And Herb! Why are you bringing a bike?" asked Jim as he stared at Herb.

"Because I thought Sissi might appreciate it," explained Herb. "So she'll become more interested in me than that idiot Harry."

Jim gaped.

"Are you kidding Odd?" asked Ulrich in disbelief.

"How could I leave Kiwi in our room?" asked Odd. "All cooped up while we get fresh air."

"Speaking of being cooped up, Yumi got stuck with a test this weekend…"

"You lucky dogs, I wish I were on that bus with you," said Yumi over the phone.

"I'd love to sneak you on, but we've got a lucky dog already! I still wish you were here though."

"Well, the torture session is about to start, talk to you later."

Yumi ended the call and walked into the building.

Later

Herb snored as he dreamt about Sissi. Kiwi barked. Odd tried to quieten him.

"Well, well. Someone's looking guilty," said Jim as he strolled over.

"Well..." Kiwi jumped out of Odd's bag where he was hiding, into his master's arms, right in front of Jim. "Oh, imagine that! It must be that stray dog that everybody saw running around near the campus, he sneaked on the bus, I guess!"

"You went and bought him a collar marked "Della Robbia"."

"No, it's uh…it's just a coincidence!" Odd made a feeble excuse. Jim raised a lone eyebrow.

"All animals are forbidden anywhere and everywhere on school grounds!"

"Uh that's great, because we're not at school now, are we, Jim?" asked Odd.

"Odd has a point," said Harry from behind Odd.

"You're going to see the principal as soon as we get back!"

"Please don't," begged Sissi. "The dog isn't on campus so Odd's not breaking the rules Jim."

Jim glanced at her. "My decision stands."

"Thanks for trying Sissi."

Kadic

"For this exam, all you need is a sharpened pencil."

"You're lucky, as a computer program, this math test should be a real piece of cake!" whispered Yumi to the William clone as the teacher handed out the tests.

"What's a math test and a piece of cake?"

Yumi stared in disbelief as the test started.

Trip

"Hold it! Slow down!" ordered Jim as he was dragged along by Kiwi.

"You shouldn't have him on a leash," called Odd. as Ms Hertz started a lecture "He doesn't like it."

"What if he bit one of the kids?"

Kiwi peed on Jim who looked disgusted.

"In short, an ecosystem unequalled in the region, and you are looking right at it!" finished Ms Hertz as she pointed at the island.

"What? That microscopic island is where we're gonna camp?!" asked Sissi in disbelief. "Are you serious?"

"If you think that's small, wait until you see the rubber dinghies!"

"She's serious."

Everyone started to paddle across.

"I can't get a signal!" Jeremy moaned as he checked his laptop.

Harry rolled his eyes. "I brought a booster Jeremy. Made it myself."

"Did Xana give you instructions?" asked Jeremy with a raised eyebrow.

"Well, he did give me knowledge of everything under the sun. That took me ages to sort out though. It was all in a giant pile. I also know how to build a nuclear missile."

"Inferno here, everything ok in paradise?" asked Yumi over the phone.

"You have to check the supercomputer regularly. Jeremy can't get online. Harry brought a booster but it might not be enough," said Aelita.

"Rats. But you know you don't need it with Harry around."

Aelita cut the call.

"That should sort things out."

"Remember to pitch your tents properly otherwise the smallest gust of wind will push them over," said Jim as they landed and removed the equipment. "Actually, that reminds me of when I was living in a tipi in the desert near New Mexico."

"Jim, this might not be the right time," said an annoyed Ms Hertz

"You don't know what you're missing, Susanne! Now get going and don't forget to read the instructions!"

"Sissi, can we put our tents side by side?" asked Herb eagerly.

"Sorry, I already agreed with Harry."

Herb glared at Harry.

Later

"So, in your opinion, what would happen if the lake dried up?" asked Ms Hertz. "Considering that certain flowers can only survive on islands like this because of the fact that there's no way for the animals that eat them to get here."

"Uh, we would be able to walk home?" asked Nicholas. The students laughed.

"The ecosystem here would be affected," said Harry thoughtfully. "So the distribution of animals and plants would be affected."

Everyone stared at him.

"What? I was just saying."

"Show off," muttered Herb angrily.

"Be quiet Herb," said Sissi. Herb shut up.

Lyoko

A tower activated in the ice sector.

Earth

A bolt of electricity hit the water and a dark shape formed. Harry rubbed his head. He glanced anxiously at his friends.

"Go Harry," whispered Jeremy. Harry nodded slightly before splitting into three and running into a shadow. Another disappeared.

Lab

"Hey Yumi."

Yumi nodded at him as she turned back to the computer. "What are you doing here?"

"The usual. Xana attack. Don't you have an exam now?"

Yumi nodded again "This is more important."

Island

Nicholas got an electric shock as the lake turned black. A girl ran off to find Jim and quickly brought him back. Ms Hertz came over as well.

"Must have been an electric eel! I've seen them before, when I was a forest ranger in Quebec.." said Jim as he checked Nicholas.

"Jim! Go get the first aid kit," interrupted Ms Hertz.

"We're in great danger here," warned Jeremy.

"Now now, we'll be fine."

Lightning shot from the lake and hit Ms Hertz along with everyone else by the water.

"What is happening here?" wondered Jim as he saw the result.

Sector Five

A Scyphozoa floated into the Skid's garage. It wrapped its tentacles around the Skid and started to absorb data before getting flung back.

"Bullseye." muttered Harry as he watched the result before setting up the delayed virtualisation. "It's a good thing I know how to run that program at a basic level."

The Scyphozoa tried again with the same result. IT kept repeating it's actions.

"Jeremy better hurry up."

Island

"We need to get off this island," said Jeremy. "Harry should be on Lyoko by now."

"One foot off the island and we get electrocuted," warned Ulrich.

"We use a distraction," suggested Odd.

"Ok. You and Ulrich do that. Now to get in contact with Harry... Where's Harry's booster? We might need an antenna."

"I don't know what that thing is but sparks will start flying!" Jim tried to cheer people up. "Sparks are already flying. Now to begin with, we've got to help Ms Hertz! Susanne! Susanne! Say something, Susanne!"

Jim slapped her as the students watched.

Lyoko

"Oh no, that's all we need! The lady killer!" moaned Yumi as the two observed William and two Krabes guarding the tower from a distance away.

"He really is a pretty boy, isn't he?" asked Harry. "We need to get past him though and you know what he'll try to do."

He glanced around before getting a distant look. "I just told my clone to tell Jeremy what's happening."

Yumi nodded.

Island

"That's the first time I've slugged someone without getting a reaction!" said Jim in surprise. Jeremy glanced at the antenna.

"You have to give her mouth-to-mouth!" said Harry's clone in exasperation. "Are you really that forgetful Jim? You should know this!"

"Yeah…mouth-to-mouth, of course!"Jim leant down but before he can make lip contact, Ms Hertz woke up.

"Jim! You come even a hair closer and it's the last thing you'll ever do on this earth!"

" Jim! Help me, Jim! It's my dog! He's in terrible danger! Only you can help me save this poor, defenceless animal, Jim! " yelled Odd as he led Jim to the lake. "A wind came up and he was in the canoe and the wind carried him away."

Ulrich used the distraction to paddle away. Jim spotted him after he caught Kiwi who jumped into the lake.

"That's…that's that sneaky Ulrich Stern! Come back!"

Lyoko

"Harry, you head for the tower," said Yumi as they ran. "I'll deal with the Krabes."

"Where did William go?" asked Harry as he looked at the monsters. "He must know that I'll be here."

"Two on one." Yumi wasn't listening as she jumped on a Krabe and sliced it. Harry sighed.

Island

"Stern! Get back here!" Ulrich continued to row away. "Your brother is more sensible than you!"

"That isn't my brother. Just a clone," muttered Ulrich. The monster caught up to Ulrich who began to row faster but got electrocuted. He fell unconscious.

"C'mere, you slimeball! You don't scare me! I've got rubber-soled NASA-issue astronaut space shoes!" yelled Jim. He got electrocuted as well. Aelita slipped out of the boat and grabbed the bike that Herb had brought.

Lyoko

Yumi threw her fan and missed as Harry entered the tower. The fan came back and sliced the Krabe as Yumi dodged its fire. Harry backed out of the tower as William followed him.

"Ok. So that's where you went. Good to know."

William smiled faintly as he watched Harry stand next to Yumi.

"Give up Harry."

Island

"I have good news and bad news. The good news is that Aelita made it," said Odd as he walked over.

"My good news is that I'm finally connected to Lyoko," said Jeremy. "Harry is facing William though."

"The bad news is that our buddy's sludge monster is on the prowl," finished Odd.

"Is Harry ok?" asked Sissi.

"He's fine at the minute but that could change any moment," said Jeremy as he pushed his glasses up his nose. "And that would be bad."

Bolts of electricity started to hit everywhere. Odd, Sissi, Harry's clone and Ulrich helped people to avoid them.

"Run to the antenna over there!" ordered Jeremy. "It will be our lightning rod!"

The panicking students did as ordered.

Lyoko

William smirked as he faced Harry. "It's over for you Harry. You will serve Xana."

"Keep telling that to yourself William. I don't have any intentions of serving Xana. It's not even on my to do list."

William sighed sadly before pulling out his Zeiwhander. "I have to catch you Harry. You know that."

"Just as I know that the real William, the one that put love letters all around his previous school, is still in there somewhere."

Yumi leapt at William and pushed him to his knees. She waved her fans in front of his face. "We will free you William. Stay strong."

William kicked her. Yumi threw her fan and William deflected it with his Zeiwhander. Yumi shook her hand as it cut her.

"Yumi!"

Harry attempted to help her but two Krabes attacked him. He jumped off one and used the momentum to reach the top of the other one which he stabbed. He jumped onto the first Krabe and stabbed that as well.

Yumi kicked William in the back which made him stumble and drop his Zeiwhander. Yumi threw a fan at him which he dodged using super smoke and reformed behind her. Yumi staggered as he kicked her. William picked up his Zeiwhander and pinned Yumi down using his foot. Yumi opened her mouth to speak but William devirtualised her before she could say anything.

"Yumi!"

Harry ran over and pulled out his shuriken. William chuckled slightly.

"It's over Harry. There's no-one to help you. They won't get here in time."

"Aelita is already on her way."

Harry threw his shuriken and William deflected them back at him. They disappeared. Harry threw his fans and William used super smoke to dodge and get behind Harry. He tried to grab Harry but Harry used super smoke to slip out of his grasp and reformed a few metres away to be hit by William's. He began to float and William quickly guided him away from the tower.

"You're a Lyoko warrior, don't you remember?" Harry asked desperately. "Please let me go."

William paused before shaking his head slowly. "That won't work anymore Harry."

"Worth a try."

"Harry?"

"Aelita! Hurry please. I think William is going to throw me into the digital sea!" Harry glanced at the decreasing distance between him and the edge.

"Ok, the Skid's safe. I'm on my way."

William stopped at the edge and made sure Harry was far enough away to clear the ice.

"William, let me go!" Harry tried to break free of the smoke but failed. William watched in amusement before throwing Harry down and jumping off.

"Harry!"

Aelita jumped off and her wings sprung out. Harry reached out for her but fell into the digital sea before Aelita reached him. She pulled up just above the digital sea.

"Harry... I was too late."

Aelita peered through the shimmering surface and watched William drag Harry away. She slowly flew back up and ran into the tower.

"Please hold on, Harry. We'll get you out of this."

Island

"In seven minutes, everything is going to turn into one big BBQ because of all the ionisation in the air," said Jeremy. "And Harry has been taken by William."

The clouds cleared.

"I hope Harry is all right," said Odd as everyone sighed in relief. "And I also hope Aelita programs a return to the past."

Harry

Harry groaned as his eyes fluttered open. "William?"

"I am here." William knelt down next to him and ran his fingers through Harry's messy hair. "Looks like you survived the trip. We weren't sure you'd make it. That's good to know. If I need to get you away again, this is how I'll do it."

"Where are we?" Harry looked around at the forest. "A Replika?"

"Yes. Xana wanted to make sure that there would be no interruptions."

Harry twisted his head slightly as a Scyphozoa arrived. It floated over before pausing. Harry gulped before turning back to William.

"Harry..." William smiled as he gently placed his hand on Harry's face. Harry stiffened slightly and stared at William. "You have a choice. Stay here as a prisoner or willingly join me."

"And have my free will taken away? I'd rather be a prisoner. Anyway, there's a way out."

The familiar white light engulfed them as William yelled in frustration.

Earlier

"So the program is effective," said Jeremy with a smile. "You saved the Skid."

"Harry helped by keeping the Scyphozoa off it," said Aelita as she glanced at Harry. "How are you anyway? Did Xana do anything?"

"I don't think so. He had the chance while I was unconscious but I woke up as myself." Harry smiled as Sissi leaned into him. Herb glared at them jealously. "Anyway, nice timing with the return to the past. I would be either be under Xana's control or a prisoner if you didn't do it then."

"Hey, how come you're so cool all of a sudden, Einstein? Xana attacks don't scare you anymore?" asked Odd.

"They're still scary, but since he never makes the same mistake the second time, and since Aelita, Harry and I have been working non-stop for all of this week, we'd like a little um…" Jeremy searched for the right word.

"We get the picture," said Ulrich as Jeremy blushed. "Hey, what'd you do with Kiwi this time?"

"Well, let's say that I found him somebody who learned what a dog's life really means," said Odd as he ate his biscuit. Harry grinned slightly

"Hey, anyone want to get Aelita and Jeremy together?" asked Harry.

"HARRY!"

Everyone laughed.

"I think it's a good idea," said Odd."You two would be nice together."

Jeremy blushed even harder as did Aelita. Harry smiled.

"Jeremy and Aelita sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G! First comes love then comes marriage then the baby in the baby carriage!"

"HARRY!"

Harry laughed as Jeremy glared at him. "Get a better glare Jeremy."

Kadic

"C'mon Kiwi, hurry, I have to get to my exam!" said a frustrated Yumi as Kiwi sniffed a tree. "Kiwi!"

She dragged him back to school. Kiwi struggled but Yumi eventually got him back and to her exam.
