I don't own Harry Potter or Code Lyoko
A lack of good will
"It's a question of reflexes. You've got to trust your instincts," explained Odd.
"What you can do, I can do better," claimed Aelita.
"Oh yeah? Want to bet?" asked Odd.
"Please don't tell me you going to do something incredibly stupid Odd," pleaded Harry as he sat down.
"You're on," said Aelita as she ignored Harry.
"Now watch and weep," said Odd as he placed a fork and walnut on the table. He hit the disk them caught the nut. "Like I told you, my Odd-like sixth sense defies all imitations!"
Everyone laughed.
"Ok show off, now admire my Aelita-like sixth sense!"
The orange flew post Aelita's head and landed in Herb's food. He screamed like a girl.
"Who did that?!"
"You win hands down," said Odd as everyone laughed. "I could never match that!"
"Dunbar! Haven't you heard that forks aren't meant to play with, but to eat with?" asked Jim as he approached the clone. "You hear me Dunbar?"
"Ok, I see he's acting up," said Sissi. "He's definitely not meant to do that."
The clone did the same thing to a glass and Jim caught it.
"The glass is empty, but that is the very last straw. You want to play being an idiot? Well two can play at that game! Follow me!"
"William's clone is not supposed to act like that!" said Jeremy worriedly as Jim lead the clone away.
"Oh…it doesn't matter if he gets punished, he's not even human," said odd as he replaced in his chair.
"That's just it: he's a polymorphic spectre, driven by a basic, non-evolutionary behaviour program," explained Jeremy.
"Could you say that in words?" requested Ulrich.
"Hm…William's clone shouldn't be capable of taking any personal initiatives, like trying to imitate Odd's stupid stunts, for example," explained Jeremy as he dumbed it down.
"And how do you explain it?" asked Yumi. Sissi just stared with glazed over eyes.
"I can't explain it. That's why I'm worried…unless the…" Jeremy mumbled to himself.
"The what?" asked Aelita.
"Well, yesterday, I installed an upgrade for his software, something to improve his artificial intelligence. Y'know, something that would make him appear less stupid!"
"Or it's just a reaction to me," said Harry thoughtfully. "You know I occasionally have a weird effect on programs."
"Hm, you think that imitating Odd makes him look less stupid?" asked Ulrich.
"Well we're going to have to play it by ear; I may have to delete the upgrade. All we need is for William Junior to start making waves," said Jeremy.
"Yeah, people could start asking awkward questions," added Harry.
Later
"Anyway, I did manage to improve the superscan. With the data you collected, on your last jaunt on the network, I set things up so it can find other replikas," explained Jeremy as they walked out of the lunch hall. "Do you mind checking it Harry?"
"You think there are more of them out there?" asked Ulrich in surprise.
"Yep. Xana also let that slip," said Harry sheepishly. "Just don't ask where they are. I don't know."
"I've managed to localise a second one," added Jeremy.
"A second one? How many do you think there are?" asked Yumi in surprise.
"Hundreds," said Harry with a small frown.
"I doubt there are that many," said Jeremy dismissively. "Xana could be trying to mislead you Harry."
"Yeah yeah but we can't rule that amount out Jeremy."
"If we get rid of them, will we get rid of Xana?" asked Sissi.
"Yep."
"Fantastic! I love it when you talk like that!" examined Odd. "When do we start?"
"Tonight."
"I feel bad for William's clone. It's my fault that he's in trouble with GI Jim," said Aelita as they watched Jim and Delmas confront the clone.
"No reason to feel bad, Aelita. It's like Odd said, he's totally artificial," reminded Jeremy.
"Like I was not all that long ago."
"But that's not the same, an artificial clone has no feelings, Aelita…" said Jeremy as they watched the clone. "At least, not for now."
"An artificial clone?" asked Milly as she and Tamiya overheard the conversation. Harry frowned and triplicated before one of his clones took his place.
"So William isn't really William. I don't understand…" Tamiya trailed off.
"It means we've got a scoop!"
That night
The clone was writing lines. "I don't have any more paper."
"Alright, I guess that's enough for now. I hope you've learned your lesson. Next time you use your fork for eating, not for catapulting your glass. It's not only dumb, it's dangerous. Next time use ball or bread. It's more discrete."
"Ball and bread?" asked the clone.
"Forget it! Next time I'll make you write more lines. You get the picture!"
"Get the picture? Where is it?" asked the clone as it looked around dumbly.
Lab
"Ready to go? Energise." Jeremy transferred the group to the Skid. "Remind me why you're not going Harry?"
"Milly and Taniya overheard what we were saying earlier. the boss is keeping an eye on them," explained the Harry clone.
"Replika, here I come! Odd the best, the greatest, the mean, lean, Xana-breaking machine!" yelled Odd.
""Lean" sounds right, I don't know about the rest," said Ulrich. "Don't forget who saved you from the digital sea last time."
"Hey! Blame the Megatanks!"
The two boys started to argue.
"That's about all boys can talk about: "I'm the greatest at this, you can't beat me at that…"" muttered Yumi.
"That's because Ulrich isn't humble!"
"Let's check the results at the end of the day!"
"Hey, cut the hot air and let me concentrate, ok guys?" asked Aelita in exasperation as she dived into the digital sea before heading to the replika.
Kadic
Harry watched the two girls film the clone in the dorms.
"William! We're doing a report for the Kadic news on school punishment," said Milly as she approached the clone. "Do you think Jim throws his weight around too much?"
"Weighs too much? He weighs 240 pounds, which is too heavy for his height."
"That's not what I meant. I meant that he can be…a real windbag sometimes! You get my drift now, William?" asked Milly.
"No. Sorry, but I can't even feel a breeze!"
Harry groaned loudly causing Milly and Tamiya to jump and search for the noise.
"Are you an idiot or something?" asked Tamiya as the two recovered.
"That's a little hard to explain."
Shaking his head, Harry walked closer.
"What are you doing Harry," whispered Sirius as he passed.
"Spying. Those two are getting a little bit too close for comfort."
Netowrk
"Replika straight ahead. Jeremy, you found it within a micro bit."
"Great. The improvements seem to be effective."
Aelita activated the digital key and Jeremy unlocked it.
"Your localisation program works like a charm! At this rate, we'll be able to wipe Xana out in no time!" called Yumi.
"I wish Harry was here," moaned Sissi.
"We can't rely on him to always be around," said Ulrich. "Besides, you heard his clone. He's trying to stop Milly and Tamiya finding out about the factory and William."
"It's no problem Yumi. All I had to do was reconfigure the older algorithm with the data you recovered from the first replika."
"It's simple to you but great for me," commented Odd.
"There's only one sector. The desert."
Aelita connected to the tower and Jeremy teleported Aelita and Ulrich.
Kadic
"We're not going to get anything out of him, he's been like a vegetable for months now!" commented Tamiya.
"Leave this to me; I'm going to bluff him out!" Milly walked over to the clone. "William! I wanted to tell you how much you hurt me when you didn't answer my letter."
"Huh?"
"Well, I know guys usely make the first move but I had to tell you how I felt."
"What?" whispered Tamiya. Gaping, Harry lightly touched the clone's arm.
"Hello Harry."
"He's crazy," sad Tamiya. "Harry isn't here."
"He's here. Just invisible. But I'm really sorry Milly but it won't me who got your letter. It must have been William."
Staring at the clone, Harry took a step back.
Replika
"Too bad Ulrich's been Teleported already, he won't be able to admire the exploits of Odd the Magnificent and weep with jealousy!" exclaimed Odd as he threw rocks in boredom.
"Mm, yes, even though last time he did save your neck, didn't he?" asked Yumi.
"Hey come on, don't you start now!"
"Calm down you guys, save your strength for Xana and his pals! I've just spotted Aelita and Ulrich, they're in New Mexico right now!" called Jeremy.
"Still no monsters in sight," said Sissi. "That's strange."
Mexico
"Looks something like a military base. With no-one here, it shouldn't be too hard," said Ulrich as the two approached.
"You're right Ulrich: it is a military base. And it's obviously been abandoned. I located a plan of it on the Internet, so I can guide you," said Jeremy.
"Ok, you found a military base plan in the internet? Shouldn't that be classified?" asked Harry.
"You do have a point."
Kadic
"Xana? Who is this Xana?" asked Milly. Harry placed his finger on the clone's lips.
"I'm sorry but Harry doesn't want me to tell you. I don't know anyway but do you know?"
"It was you that told us that Xana captured William. Who are you then?"
"Me? I'm William."
"Then are there two Williams?" asked Milly.
"No. There's just one and that's me. The other one is a prisoner of Xana and has an obsession with capturing Harry."
"Perhaps we should find Harry and get some answers from him?" suggested Tamiya.
"Should we call the police?" asked Milly. "If the other William is a prisoner?"
"No. Harry, Jeremy and the Lyoko Warriors are doing all they can to free him."
"Lyoko Warriors? Who are they?" asked Tamiya.
"That's enough William." Placing his hand on William's shoulder, Harry tried to lead him away.
"Harry?" The two girls looked for him but couldn't see him.
"Look, if I'm going to forgive the other William, I'm going to need some proof," said Milly.
"Proof? I don't have any but I can ask Harry's clone and Jeremy to show you some at the computer lab in the factory."
Harry slammed his head against the wall. The clone was confusing only because he was literal but know he was going to reveal their secret.
"I think this place is haunted," said Tamiya. Luna paused outside the door before continuing on.
Mexico
"I think I found it. In front of you, on your left. There's an elevator that will take you to the underground part of the base," said Jeremy as he studied the map.
"This is really weird. I bet we're in Area 51," suggested Ulrich.
"The base at Roswell? The one with all those aliens? No, it wasn't the same at all," said Aeltia in a professional and teasing tone.
"Wait a second, how do you know what Area 51 looks like?" asked Ulrich in surprise and suspicion as they ran across the courtyard.
"I don't, I was just kidding!"
Replika
"Here comes the welcoming committee," said Odd as Hornets flew down the pass. Odd and Sissi aimed as Yumi pulled out her fans. "On your marks, get ready..."
The hornets shot at the three and they jumped out of the way.
"Hey, he didn't say "go" yet!" complained Yumi as she blocked the lasers and Sissi shot one. "You're getting better Sissi, you know that?"
Sissi shrugged.
"Wow! Not very polite little beasts, didn't even introduce themselves! Einstein, we could use a couple of taxis!" called Odd.
"Ok, right away. What's going on? How come I got an activated scanner? Did anyone just get devirtualised?" asked Jeremy as the display showed the scanner in question.
"Wasn't me! Why leave when the fun's getting started!" asked Odd as he ran to the Overboard.
"It won't me," said Sissi as she shot into the air.
"Wasn't me either," said Yumi as she sliced the wings of two hornets. Odd and Sissi took them out. "If it wasn't us, who was it?"
"I have a sneaking suspicion that it was William," said Harry's clone with a shudder."2He's the only other one that I can think off apart from a couple of monsters."
"I have no idea, but it sure isn't someone we want to meet! William?!" asked Jeremy in disbelief as he looked through the camera.
"William?! William's in the factory?!" asked Yumi in surprise.
"It sure looks like it! I'll handle it! Harry, you'd better stay out of his way."
"Hey! I can take William, no problems," complained Harry.
"Yeah but remember what he does or tries to do every time you two are together?"
"Were you expecting company? Did you stock up on potato chips?" asked Odd.
"He's not coming up; he's going down to the supercomputer. He must have come to destroy it."
"I don't think Xana has though this through properly," said Harry's clone. "I'm still on earth so if he destroys the supercomputer, he loses access to me."
"Oh no. Here comes trouble!" cried Odd.
Mexico
Ulrich and Aelita looked at the conveyer belt with complex circuits eing processed.
"What is this place?" asked Ulrich.
"Jeremy? Jeremy?"
Replika
"We have to get back to the factory! Einstein, are you there? Can you hear us?" asked Odd.
"There's no need to yell, he's probably trying to figure out a way to keep William busy. Besides, you and I are stuck here," reminded Yumi.
"I tell you, we've got to go!"
"Odd, Jeremy hasn't Teleported Ulrich and Aelita yet. We can't do it for him from here, we can't join them out there and we have to protect the Skid at all costs! So we wait," pointed out Yumi.
"I hate waiting! There must be something we can do!"
"There is: defend our position."
"Oh great," muttered Sissi as they looked at the tarantulas.
"Good. Thanks to our friends, we won't be bored!"
Supercomputer
The supercomputer rose in front of William.
"I had no idea you were into computers, William!"
Jeremy swung a rod at William who caught it and laughed evilly. "You should have sent Harry."
He swung Jeremy around who let go and slammed into the wall.
Mexico
"Whoa, check it out! It's like a scene from Executioner 2, and it smells like Odd's feet in here!" exclaimed Ulrich as the studied the conveyer belt.
"What worries me most is that we've lost contact with Jeremy. We have to find a way to get back to the Skid, and then return to the factory!"
"Abort the mission?" asked Ulrich in surprise. "Look around you, Aelita. Xana's putting something really serious together. It's like he's planning to take over the world or something."
"I don't like this any more than you do, but Jeremy must need our help. Something's wrong…"
"Well anyway, if we do decide to abort, there's only one way for us to get back to the Skid!"
Supercomputer
"And now, you're going to witness the total destruction of the Supercomputer, and the end of your little gang of friends!" claimed William as he picked Jeremy up.
"Geromino!" Harry's clone jumped on William's back and hit him with an energy field. The second one hit William with a laser arrow.
"Hello Jeremy. Uh, do you have any proof that you could lend me?" asked the clone William as he, Harry and the two girls saw the real William still holding Jeremy. William raised an eyebrow in annoyance. "Get your hands off of Jeremy!"
"Fusion!" The two clones returned to Harry as William threw Jeremy away. The clone leapt at William.
"Hi girls, what are you doing here?" asked Jeremy.
"Milly, I want to go home," wailed Tamiya.
"Which one of them is the real William?" asked Milly.
"It's very simple: the real one…is the bad guy… Ask Harry... I'm sure he knows...oh, listen, you two girls and Harry have to go back to the computer lab…and tell the others that they got to get back here…and fast!"
"Did you say the others?" asked Milly in surprise.
"I'm out of here," said Tamiya as she re-entered the elevator.
Replika
The tarantulas fired at the three. Sissi aimed and hit one in the nose. Odd giggled.
"Oh no, my Overboard!" wailed Odd as Yumi used telekinesis on it. It sent the monster into the digital sea.
"Another one bites the dust!"
"Don't ever do that without telling me! I hope you didn't mess up the paint job…"
They lead the monsters into the rocky pass.
Supercomputer
Harry closed his eyes as the two William's continued to fight.
"Gotcha." He pulled out a shuriken ad threw it. It curved in on the real William and cut him. The wound rapidly healed. "That's cheating Xana!"
LAb
Tamiya ran over to the computer and sat down. She picked up the microphone.
"Hello? Anyone out there? Hello?"
"Huh? Einstein? What's with that voice of yours, you catch a cold?" asked Odd. he fell off the Overboard as it disappeared.
"Uh, no, uh, it's…it's Tamiya!"
"Tamiya? Oh."
"Tamiya, what are you doing at the factory? Well that's one heck of a surprise! Where's Jeremy?" asked Yumi as the Overwing exploded and she ran down the pass.
"Jeremy told me to tell you to come back right away, uh…whoever you are!" explained Tamiya.
"We're on our way!" Yumi turned to Odd as she caught up. "Fun's over, we're going home!"
"IT's your lucky day tarantula! Hasta la vista!"
Mexico
"Did you hear that?" asked Aelita. "If Tamiya's in the factory, we've got a big problem. Let's go!"
"Ok!"
"On three. One…two…"
They attacked each other and appeared in the Skid.
Replika
"Ulrich and Aelita might have been Teleported!"
"Yoohoo, anybody home?" called Odd before ducking. "Those Tarantulas stick to you like glue!"
"Those monsters are really getting on my nerves," complained Sissi as she fired.
Supercomputer
"That ought to hold you, William bad guy!" said the clone as he swung the real William into the elevator.
"Good riddance!"
"No! Not at all! He's going up to the lab, he can still mess with the programming and get rid of the others," explained Jeremy. "The trap door, go on, William, you have to stop him before he starts doing some real harm!"
"Yeah!"
Harry and the William clone jumped into the trapdoor. Milly gaped at Harry.
"How did he do that?!"
"Long story."
Replika
Aelita and Ulrich woke up.
"Odd! We're on board the Skid. Make it fast!"
"Yumi!" called Sissi. "Time to get going!"
Yumi devitualised.
"Embarking Odd. Embarking Sissi." The two reappeared inside the Skid. "Next stop, Lyoko.
Lab
"Huh? Oh, which one are you, the good guy or the bad guy?" asked Tamiya as William walked into the lab.
"The good guy!" said William with an evil look. He took control and affected the scanners.
"Thanks for the welcome!" muttered Yumi as the scanner didn't open, Grunting, she started to force it open.
"I think you're the bad guy," said Tamiya as she backed away and took a fighting position. "I'm not going to let you wreck everything."
William shot her with some electricity. "I don't have to deal with you, but I do have to wreck everything!"
Network
"There's the hub." Aelita flew into it and shot off towards Lyoko.
Lab
"Yaaah!" The clone leapt at William as Harry checked up on Tamiya. William smirked as he deactivated the program and the clone pixellated before blowing apart.
"You're nothing, just an insignificant bunch of digital dust!"
"Oi, William, how about you pick on someone your own size," suggested Harry as he stood up. "Like me."
Stalking over, William grabbed Harry's shirt. Harry hit William with a laser arrow causing William to grunt before sending him into the wall. Playing dead, Harry slid down the wall.
Supercomputer
"Please tell me that's normal, that's everything's' ok," begged Milly.
"Something's wrong with the cooling chamber. It's overheating and the supercomputer is going to reach a combustible critical mass. You'll have to stop William."
Network
"Do you see what I see?" asked Odd.
"It's too quiet," said Ulrich as the network turned red.
"Monsters, more monsters," muttered Sissi. Aeltia applied the brakes.
"Mm…I really didn't feel like fishing…bombs away!"
"Hey! Keep to your right, Sunday driver!" complained Odd as Ulrich nearly hit him. "I've got one stuck to me! That's worse than forgetting a candy bar in your jeans during a heat wave!"
"Just another groupie crazy about Odd the Magnificent!" mocked Ulrich as he fired and hit the shark. He Turned and git another. "Well that takes care of that! Aren't you tired of me saving you all the time?"
"Everyone to the Skid ASAP, we've already lost a lot of time!"
They returned to the Garage.
"Jeremy's still not answering."
"Well, there are several ways of devirtualising ourselves," said Odd.
Lab
"The cavalry's finally here! Only too late, as usual!" Harry leapt at William and knocked him out of the chair.
"Oh yeah? We'll see about that!" Milly looked at the two boys.
"Be careful, Milly! He disintegrated the other William just by pushing a button!" warned Tamiya.
"You were unconscious..."
"I was playing dead William!" Harry punched him in the face.
"Jeremy? Are you alright? We're in the scanner room."
"It's eight against one, so just give up!" yelled Milly as William flipped Harry who landed on his feet.
"Hehe…boo!"
"He won't give up that easily Milly," said Harry. "He's tried to make me like him so many times."
William jumped into the trapdoor after setting up a delayed virtualisation as the other five entered the lab.
"Lyoko Warriors..."
"Go on, run away, go back to where you came from!" yelled Milly into the trap door. Harry ran to the terminal and stopped the overheating.
"Xana, the idiot. Well, William's returned to the network."
Later
"How long have you been fighting against Xana?" asked Tamiya as she recorded the interview with her camera.
"We began about two years ago," said Jeremy.
"And does this happen a lot?" asked Milly.
"Are you kidding? It happens all the time! We fight Xana almost every day!" exclaimed Odd.
"Wow! This has got to be the best scoop we've ever had!" said Milly excitedly.
"Hold on a sec, let me tell you one last secret!" said Jeremy with a small smile.
"Oh great, let's hear it!"
"The reason you're not going to remember any of this is…Return to the Past now!"
The white light covered the factory.
Earlier
"I know what you're thinking but I'm not going to do it again," said Odd as he ate.
"Good decision Odd. Especially if William's clone is into imitating you," said Jeremy. "We don't want to draw any more attention to him and I'll try to create a new upgrading program."
"Are you sure you want to erase the old one?" asked Aelita. "The replika did fight for you against William."
"Yes, I know but, um, when I created it, I used some pre-existing ones that were in the supercomputer. They'd been created by Franz Hopper. I did it to speed things up but I think they're some of the ones that created the personality of Xana." Jeremy pushed his food around on his plate.
"You sure?" asked Harry.
"Well done Frankeinstein, you'd better find William soon or we'll have a Xana junior on our hands," cried Odd with a touch of humor.
"Or much worse, a human being," added Yumi.
"That can never happen. Without that program, William's clone can never be more than a program," said Jeremy. The clone sent him a thumbs up.
