"Uh…hey Odd, if you're trying to clean up the room, you'd better find another system," suggested Ulrich as he walked into the dorm from the showers. Odd continued to throw clothes out of the wardrobe.

"Where is it? Here it is. Oh, it's not. I don't want to be late for breakfast!" yelled Odd

"So you can steal an extra croissant?" asked Ulrich knowingly.

"Well yeah, but also to steal Azra's heart! Where are my shoes?" asked Odd.

"Uh, you just have to follow the stink!" said Ulrich as he pinched his nose and pointed under the table. "Are you sure this is the best time? You're pretty wound up."

"Sure. She asked for my eraser yesterday."

"And?"

"That's a sure sign that she's into me." Standing up, Odd knocked a mirror onto the first. "Sorry."

"I'm sorry for you. That's seven years bad luck. Aren't you superstitious?"

"Nope. It's all for old ladies. Ahhh! In fact, I can feel it: today's going to be my lucky day!" commented Odd as he opened the door.

"Della Robbia! I'll bet you think it's really funny filling my shoes with cottage cheese, huh?! You just earned yourself eight hours of detention!" yelled Jim.

"It wasn't me Jim!" Odd protested.

"If it wasn't you, then who did it?"

"Maybe you should check herb and Nicholas?"

"Thanks for the tip. Four hours detention for reading it you classmates!"

"Can you believe that?" asked odd.

"As I said; seven years bad luck."

"Forget it."

Lunch hall

"Sorry Odd. I guess you're out of luck."

"What am I supposed to eat?" whined Odd.

"You can have some dry toast," suggested Rosa

"Give me some hot chocolate up down my sorrow in."

"That's broken. This is the only time it's broken since I started working here."

"Tea and dry toast, Odd? What are you, sick?" asked Yumi in surprise as Odd sat down miserly.

"No, not yet, but after I choke this down I will be!"

"On everyone, gets the plan," said Jeremy as everyone chucked. "We'll be round to the military base to destroy Xana's supercaculator. Shouldn't be too complicated as long as Xana doesn't try to act up."

"Azra! Let's have breakfast together!" tried Odd's as the girl passed.

"Are you going to try to drink hot chocolate through your nose again?"

"Uh, no. The machine is busted. Besides, you could teach me Turkish."

"You mean that?"

"Yep."

"Well, we can discuss it."

"That's Azra."

"Hey, why did you tell him on me, you snitch!" Herb stormed over to odd.

"Yeah, it was your idea," said Nicholas. "Though it was rather funny."

"We're going to get even with you," threatened Herb as he walked away. Azra said something in Turkish before walking away.

"She just called you a numbskull," translated Harry with a laugh.

"Herb can be a bit obsessed with things at times," said Sissi with a sign. "I wonder why I started to hang with him."

"Walking under a ladder is like asking for bad luck," said Ulrich as everyone sucked to a tower.

"In Japan, people avoid anything to do with the number 4, because it sounds just like the word for "death"!" added Yumi.

"Did you know that the word "rabbit" is bad luck for sailors?" asked Aelita. "So is spilling salt when you're on a ship!"

"If a black cat crosses your path, it's bad luck. As well as opening an umbrella in your house, singing or sleeping at a table, a bird that comes in your window, refusing a kiss under mistletoe, having Goldfish in the house, chasing someone with a broom, dropping a dishcloth, giving an empty wallet…."

"Enough Harry! And I tell you that the only thing that'll bring you bad luck is talking to an Odd about dumb superstition, because all you'll get is being laughed at!" exclaimed Odd.

"I bet you'll be crossing streets to avoid black cats by the end of the day," said Ulrich.

Jeremy teleported Yumi and Harry but Odd remained in the Skid.

"Ok, where's Odd?" asked Harry as the two landed and hid.

"Still in his navskid."

"What did I do wrong?" asked Odd.

"It's not you. The teleportation bugged for the first time."

"What bad luck."

"Ulrich, you're as bad as dry toast!"

"What now Jeremy?" asked Aelita.

"The superscan has picked up an activated tower. I'll send Ulrich to help."

"Bad timing," compained Sissi. "I expect William to turn up and be an annoyance."

Mexico

"Where's Odd?" asked Yumi as Ulrich showed.

"Stick on the replica. Sad?"

"Glad. He's got really bad luck today. Ready?" asked Yumi

"Hey, don't be like that," said Harry as they ran into the base. "I'm sure it's just a one off thing."

"Watch your step," advised Jeremy. "If Xana activated a tower; he's going to make your trip really hard."

"Thanks for stating the obvious Jeremy," called Harry.

"This place is as deserted as ever," muttered Ulrich as they arrived.

"That just makes it easier," said Harry. "Nothing shooting at us or annoying us."

"How about giving us the coordinates so we can go deactivate it?" asked Aelita.

"Due west."

"Let's go," cheered Odd. They appeared outside the Skid and Jeremy loaded up their vehicles.

"Isn't Aelita going to be traveling with me?" asked Odd.

"Since you've been having a bad day, it's better if you don't."

"I tell you everything's cool!" Odd flickered.

"Did you see that? What's going on?"

"I'll check it out. Yo guys get going."

"I'll remain with the Skid," offered Sissi.

"Keep an eye out. William does seem to have a bit of an interest in you at the moment," warned Aelita.

"Only to get to Harry."

Mexico

"Freight elevator over there. It will take us down stairs," said Ulrich as they paused in them idle of the complex.

"Yeah, I know that," said Harry as a camera tracked them. "I've got a map."

"By the way Yumi, I never asked you this. Which monsters do you like fighting the least of all?" asked Ulrich.

"The Kankrelats. I really hate fighting against big bugs, blegh!"

"Yeah, right. What I hate most are Megatanks. How about the-"

"The Kankrelats!" interrupted Yumi as she looked at the teleported monsters.

"Yeah I know, you said that already!"

"No, over there! Kankrelats!"

"Xana does like to send monsters against me on earth," said Harry with a grin.

"Harry, you get the door," said Yumi as she sent her fan at one. Groaning, Harry pressed his hadn to the door and unlocked it. Ulrich hit the down button as they advanced.

"Give me harder things to do."

"Jeremy, we just found out why Xana activated a tower," called Ulrich to thin air. "He's sending monsters!"

"I'm on it. Aelita, Harry, Yumi and Ulrich have some visitors."

"On our way. I can see a canyon in the distance." Pointing it out to Odd, Aelita turned thoughtful.

"I'll check the area to see if the tower's there. It's ion the centre."

"I told you everything's cool. Superstition is for lame-os." Wincing Odd touched his shoulder where he had been hit.

"You were saying?" Looking at the hornets, Aelita's expression turned slightly worried.

"Ok. Watch this!" Odd flipped behind the hornets and hit one. "Piece of cake!"

Mexico

The cover retreated and the three advanced.

"The area's clear." A Kankrelat materialised. "Oh man."

Harry shot one as Yumi flipped over a shot. More appeared. Groaning, Harry threw a shuriken and several hundred hit the Kankrelats.

"Good news Jeremy?" asked Ulrich. "Things are getting rough!"

"Odd and Aeltia are nearly at the tower."

"Let's do our stuff!" The two separated and the two remaining hornets followed them. Aelita missed a shot as Odd dodged the shots wining down on him. He jumped off the Overboard and hit the Hornet.

"Who said I was jinxed?!" He froze and the Overboard flew up, causing him to fall off.

"Odd! Are you ok?"

"Odd what happening? You just lost half your life points."

"The bug's affecting him again," explained Aelita.

"What's going on?" He devirtualised as a Hornet hit him. "Hey!"

Aelita hit the remaining monster. "That would teach you to zap my friend. Jeremy, I'm heading to the tower."

"Make it snappy. Harry, Ulrich and Yumi have a massive monster bug problem."

"And what about the bug?" asked Aelita. "Do you know the cause?"

"Not yet. It might be a virus or some major Xana thing. Whatever it is, we're not having any luck with it."

"There's no such thing as luck, you got that!" yelled Odd.

Mexico

"Go away!" yelled Harry as he hit several monsters with his shuriken.

"What kind of place is this?" asked Yumi as they walked into the room with the conveyor belts.

"That's what I asked when I came here last time," commented Ulrich.

"It's like a factory," said Harry as they walked deeper into the room before touching a terminal. "I bet Xana's planning to make something. I'll just hack this thing. It's not like Xana doesn't know we're here."

"What's going on with the tower?" asked Ulrich.

"Aelita should be deactivating it soon."

Aelita dodged several shots. Murmuring under her breath, she fired on them as she slew between the pillars of rock. Flickering, she tried to fire. The Overwing exploded as she jumped off.

"Guess I have to go the rest of the way on foot."

Running, she avoided the shots.

"You'd better hurry. The bugs affecting you too so you'd better get to the tower before you disappear," advised Jeremy.

"I'm going as fast as I can!"

Mexico

"Ulrich, Aelita can't deactivate the tower just yet. She's been affected by Odd's bug too."

"Hey! It's not my bug, ok?!"

"Just a name for it until I figure out what's going on."

"It better be! I have nothing to do with this mess! It was just chance!"

"Did I hear the word 'chance'?" asked Ulrich. "Are you becoming superstitious?"

"There you are! It's an assembly line for electronic implants and motherboards."

"Implants?" asked Ulrich. "For what?"

"As a guess, I think the cybernetic spiders in the jungle," said Harry.

"What's Xana's plan?"

"Take over my body and enslave my mind then take over the world," suggested Harry.

"Stop being a downer," said Yumi as she slapped him. "You're one of the strongest people I know. Xana won't get to you."

The assembly lie started up as the eye of Xana appeared on the screen and the monsters started firing at them as they caught up. Ulrich stabbed one.

"Guess you're just like Odd, not your lucky day."

Harry hit the one on the assembly line.

"Come on! This way!" Harry led them to the southern end of the room. "What about on your end Jeremy?"

"Bad news. William just turned up near the tower the Lightning is attached to. And if you ask me, it's not a friendly visit."

"That means he intends to bring me back." Harry groaned as they entered the supercomputer room. "Why can't he go after something else?"

"One of you has to go back."

"I'll go," offered Ulrich. "Harry is better here. He can get past the doors quicker than Jeremy hacking them."

"I think I ought to put a cloaking device on the Lightning…"

"Rock, paper, scissors!"

"Scissors cuts paper."

Yumi moaned. "Jeremy, I'm coming back. You'd better be ready William. Good luck!"

"You too," said Ulrich as she faded away.

"Why did harry park so close?" wondered Yumi as she appeared on the ground and looked at the tower nearest her before sending her fans at William. "Pretty boy!"

William turned and glared at her.

"I'm glad to see you two." Yumi pulled out her fans and threw them. William blocked as Sissi took care of several Krabes that had turned up.

Mexico

"Jeremy, the supercomputer is infested with the monsters," called Ulrich as Harry opened and closed the doors. "What's holding Aelita up?"

"She's nearly there."

Aelita hit the last hornet and ran for the tower just as she flickered and devirtualised.

"I don't believe this! Ulrich, Harry, you have to do this alone. Aeltia got devirtualised."

"You could always bring me back," suggested Harry.

"And hand you over in a nicely wrapped package to William?"

"Stop spawning!" Sissi hit another Krabe in the back as William looked for Yumi. He clenched his fist and jumped up onto a pillar. Yumi did the same and hit him in the stomach. Grumbling, He jumped on the tops of the pillars and Yumi hit him the stomach again before dropping the pillar on top of him.

"That was great Yumi. I'll just teleport you again."

"Great. Uh oh. I'm all bugged up." She flickered and devirtualised at the same time as Sissi. "Too late!"

"I can't believe it! We're so jinxed!"

"What is this damn bug anyway?" asked Yumi from the scanners.

"That's what I'm about to find out." Jeremy ran a scan. "It's a mandelbug!"

"A what?" asked Odd in confusion.

"A bug in the virtualisation software and the causes are so complex that its behaviour seems totally chaotic! And with no way to tell if the behaviour is really chaotic or just seems to be, it's impossible to differentiate it from a bohrbug or a heisenbug," explained Jeremy quickly.

"Huh?" asked Aelita.

"Couldn't be any clearer!"

"You mean it?" asked a surprised Jeremy.

"No!"

"It's an extremely unusual problem and Jeremy doesn't know how to fix it yet," explained Aelita.

"Why didn't you say so?"

"Oh, great. That's all we needed," muttered Jeremy as tarantulas advanced on the Skid. "Ulrich, I bet you want some good news!"

"Yeah!"

"Uh sorry, don't have any. To make a long story short, you're on your own; the tower's still activated and you're probably going to get that bug I can't fix."

"IS that all?"

"Uh, no. Xana sent in some tarantulas to attack the Skid."

Harry entered the room and blew the monsters up.

"Explosives? Where did you get the explosives?" asked Ulrich.

"From the storage cupboard."

"Why are there even explosives here?"

"No idea."

"Hey, did you see that? They got rid of them all at once," exclaimed Odd as they watched on the screen."

"But how did he do that? Ulrich's only got two sabres! And there would still be a little delay if Harry defeated them," wondered Jeremy.

"They're on a lucky streak today," said Yumi.

"Unlike Odd," said Sissi.

"Hey!"

"Nice going. Now get rid of the supercomputer, you're fading fast. Though Harry doesn't seem to be affected."

"Uh, I don't know if you've noticed Jeremy, but my avatar is really hard to affect!"

Harry placed the explosives on the supercomputer as Ulrich faded.

"Hell yeah! Ok, bring me in!"

"What about the Skid?" asked Aelita.

"I can remotely pilot it from here. Harry gave me the idea," said Jeremy as he did that. The Skid disconnected from the tower and dived as the sphere. "Another Replika bites the dust! Fantastic!

Later

"Who's the man today, guys, huh? Well, what do you think?" asked Ulrich.

"Luck, buddy! That's what I think!"

"I knew you'd say that," said Ulrich with a knowing smile.

"Anyway, I think I'm turning into a pyro. Exploding things is so much fun," said Harry with a grin. Everyone backed away. "What?"

"I think you're dangerous enough without making your own explosives Harry," said Jeremy with a worried expression.

"Don't make me tell my father," threatened Sissi. "Or I'll stop sneaking into your room to snuggle up to you."

"So that's why I find you next to him in the morning," said Ulrich. "I wondered about that."

Kadic

"What did you do now?" asked Ulrich.

"I slipped," said Odd from the floor. "I think ever since I broke that mirror, I've been jinxed!"

"Relax Odd. Jinxes don't exist," reassured Aelita. "Luck does but it changes."

"The only question is when," added Ulrich. Odd glanced at Azra and noticed a lost, pink phone.

"Lady Luck might be smiling on me again!" yelled Odd jubilantly as he picked it up. "Azra's phone! She left it behind so I can find it ant return it to her!"

"Are you sure?" asked Harry.

"Of course I am! Now all I have to do is to wait for her to call it!"

Dorm's

"I'd like to get my mobile phone back. Meet me at the arches right away," Odd read out. "See you guys later, I've got a date with Cupid!"

"Great! Tell Cupid we said hi!" called Ulrich.

"Good luck," called Jeremy.

"It's already good!"

"Maybe we should tell him it's Jim's phone," suggested Harry with a broad smile.

"Nah!" They started to laugh hysterically.

Outside

"Azra?" Odd whistled as he stood next to a pillar.

"No, it's Jim Morales."

"Oh sorry Jim but I'm waiting for someone. If you don't mind."

"So it was you who found my mobile?" asked Jim.

"Huh? It's yours?"

"Yeah, why?"

"I mean, well, it's not your style."

"I like pink, got a problem with that? Look at the colour that you wear all the time."

"Yeah but pink with sparkles and a heart charm? Isn't it a bit too much?" Taking the phone, Jim sent Odd a look.

"Probably. I'd rather not talk about it."

Odd stared at Jim strangely as he watched the man walk away.

"It caught me as strange when I found out," said Sirius as he stood next to Odd . "Any news on Xana?"

"Destroyed another Replika today."

"Oh, really?"
