The Thing With Hajimes

Me: Sudden increase in followers makes me happy =)

Keith: I'm bored, there's nothing to read

Karrie: you like to read, since when?

Keith: I get this odd satisfaction whenever I manage to read the reviews before Ash does

Me: T.T you're a brat

Keith: you know you love me

Me: =P that is debatable

Kellyn: why did you write yourself more reminders?

Me: so I actually get things done. Oh, I forgot to mention a few things: I have been making youtube videos under the name Ash D, I plan on starting the project of converting and finishing "A Heart's Tale" into a written fanfiction story to be posted on here (finally, I also might take the liberty to improve it with changing it too much), depending on how things go I plan to update this and other stories more often (fingers crossed), I might post an OC fanfiction featuring Moon depending on interest of readers, if I can get a more solid plot idea then I may start a fairy tail fanfiction, depending on reader interest and my brain I might start a fanfiction story to feature Hannah's and the twin's story, and yeah, I guess that is it for now. I will be adding lists to help keep track of things happening in this story (I'll try to do it every chapter from last one onward, no promises, I might forget to do it some chapters).

Kate: *throws confetti in the air* hoorah! That story might finally get finished!

Me: *gets covered with it* err, thanks?

Rhythmi: pokelover0ash does not anything but her OCs.

Kellyn: you left us at a cliffhanger, so write!

Me: TT_TT you guys can be so cruel sometimes

Chapter 58: Fight To Live Another Day

The tension that filled the air was so intense that it was a miracle nothing burst-ed into flames. In another time, Kellyn, Karrie, Red, Gold, Lyra, Kenny, and two elderly people were emitting so much power that rocks were floating into the air.

Don't do anything rash, little ones. The elderly woman spoke telepathically.

You underestimate us then, Grandma Eliza. Kenny replied as a smirk grew on his face.

"Oh no, they're speaking with their minds, what ever shall we do?" The woman from shadows asked in a sarcastic way. She was purposely being dramatic. The elderly woman's turned from a grayish blue to a a pinkish red as her grayish white hair danced in the wind.

Prove me wrong then, child of the flames. The woman replied.

Where did you two send the others? Gold harshly demanded.

A little before your fight that got little Kellyn severely injured. The man replied. Mind your manners.

Forgive his manners this time, Grandpa Matt. If we are divided, then it will be a repeat of the last battle. Lyra said. The old man frowned, but nodded. As much as I'd to say this, I am relying on you to help defeat the Temporal Hunter.

That is a given, as you have much to learn, child. The old man replied.

We have two shadow hunters, a time guy, a plant type, and a ground type. Kellyn said as he looked around. Red and Gold, don't let yourselves be provoked and stick with the shadows. Kenny and I will take the forest one. Karrie and Grandma Eliza should take the ground one.

Smart choices. Grandma Eliza said as a little smile grew on her face.

Aw, come on, do I have to? Karrie asked.

The faster we get this done, the faster we can come to Kate's and Keith's aid. Kellyn replied and Karrie stopped complaining. Exactly ten seconds later, each person took off after their targets. Kellyn slamming into the one who attacked Yellow and Crystal to freeze the man in his tracks before rolling away so that Kenny could charge fully flamed into the man. The ground type Hunter dodged Karrie's attacks effortlessly as he popped in and out of the ground while Grandma Eliza calmly waited to read the movements of her opponent. Red and Gold pounced in lightning speed at the shadows. Lyra charged her opponent first.

"I was hoping the two thunder brains would want to get back at what I did to their precious women." The man from the forest said while grinning. Red and Gold roared. Kellyn face palmed the hunter with his own hands and ice powers, effectively giving the guy a bloody nose and make him stop trying to provoke Red and Gold.

~meanwhile~

"Those pokemon are hurting, can't you see the pain you're causing them?" Yellow asked. The pinkette scoffed at Yellow.

"So do we have a plan other than not die?" Keith asked.

"Um, try not to lose a limb," Crystal replied as she patted Keith on the back. Kate summoned a swirl of water just in time to protect them all from projectile sharp rocks.

"Crystal, Yellow, try to help the pokemon, go after the hunters head on and my brothers will kill me," Garnet said. Yellow and Crystal nodded and focused their energies on calming and healing the pokemon. Kate stormed after the boy who came out of the ground. It was a battle that resembled more like a twisted version of whack-a-mole and a mock battle of the dojo. Garnet went after the pink haired girl while riding wings made up of deadly electricity in order to protect the ones his brothers' loved. The time traveling hunter smiled at Keith as Keith picked up a branch to use as a weapon. Keith wasn't sure how much help he'd be, but he was going to try his best. The time traveling hunter put out his hand and concentrated, but nothing happened to Keith. Frowning, the hunter tried concentrating on Keith's stick instead, it moved and Keith held onto the moving stick as hard as he could. Dark energy began to emit from his hands and it stopped the psychic powers.

'I think I can use this.' Keith thought to himself as he steadied himself and held the stick like it was a bat. Keith swung and somehow, he managed to damage the hunter. Keith wasn't sure what he was doing or if it was actually working or if it was all in his head. This was kept up for at least an hour and then the hunter changed tactics. Keith ran around trying to dodge projectiles aimed to kill him for the next hour or so. Keith, keeping himself aware of his surroundings, noticed that this battle was a bit too one sided and more of a stalling to survive. Garnet could defeat at least one or two of the hunters, but Keith was realizing that Garnet was trying not to go into berserk mode while trying to look out everyone's well being very quickly. Keith gritted his teeth. He hated being so useless.

The time traveling hunter threw a boulder using his mind. Keith panicked as he couldn't dodge this time and it was mainly just him and there was no way he could stop a boulder without dying or getting hurt A LOT since Garnet locked horns with the girl and Kate was trying her best in her first real fight against the boy. A gust of wind and the tides were turned, instead of struggling to live, something else happened. A storm came through that was almost tornado-like. Dingy colored wind broke up the rocks and Crystal struggled to get a murderous pokemon off of her while Yellow poured her energy into saving one pokemon.

A shining light came out like a ribbon, glowing with pure warmth, and surrounded the pokemon. Crystal felt weight come off of her and Yellow looked wearily over to find the source of the ribbon. Keith sat on the ground, dumbfounded. Kate felt large hands touch her shoulders. She looked up and saw a man with a fine styler strapped to his arm. Short brown hair and blue eyes, Kate tried to figure out who he was. The man emitted dark tinted winds from his hands, knocking Kate's opponent out. Garnet, surprised for a moment, quickly knocked his opponent out with a single punch.

"Who are you?" Kate asked.

~meanwhile~

Karrie ripped the ground apart in frustration. Her opponent took pleasure in using his element to dodge and toy with her. Her partner in this battle was slow from old age and kept reminding her to be patient. Gold and Red walked over to towards her after leaving their opponents in a crumbled pile. Lyra and Grandpa Matt were locked in a heated battle of the mind, time, and body. Kenny and Kellyn fought against minions of their opponent.

Get the minions, you'll make it worse with Karrie. Kellyn told his cousins. Did you guys?

They're alive barely. Gold replied as he whipped his head around to look at his cousin. But not because of the old geezer's rule, but because I wouldn't be able to face SSG if I killed.

Shadows too much for you? Red asked as he blasted through some of the minions for Kellyn. The sooner they all fall, the sooner we can return to Yellow.

Don't forget about Crystal! Gold said as he joined in on the fun. Karrie growled in response. Of course Ray, can't forget about my new buddy, Keith, either.

Then try not to forget about Kate either. Kellyn replied.

Your attachments may bring your downfall. Grandma Eliza said.

Believe what you will, but our so-called attachments are what makes each of us much stronger. Karrie replied before causing an earthquake. Everyone on the ground had to either brace themselves or take to the sky. Grandma Eliza frowned and shot water at their opponent.

Reckless, as usual. Grandma Eliza commented before releasing another attack, knocking their opponent out. But surprisingly useful.

When do you ever expect anything else from us? Karrie asked like a stubborn child. Grandma Eliza smiled slightly.

I suppose you're right, this time. Grandma Eliza asked. Watch out though, we have some opponents that haven't revealed themselves yet.

You're the one who needs to watch out, old coot. Karrie replied as she quickly tossed her great-grandmother over her shoulder and leapt out of the way. A huge bulky man came bursting from the ground with a little boy on his shoulder. Great, a heavy lifter and a kid. I love my job.

At least try to sound happy. Kenny commented. What powers do they have?

I don't know, maybe I should just ask them. Karrie replied.

Unwise move. Grandma Eliza said.

You don't realize that she's using sarcasm? Kenny asked. Grandma Eliza blushed slightly from embarrassment.

Just focus on the battle at hand. She replied. Karrie clenched her fists and went after the newcomers. She wanted to get the fight over fast so that they could return to whatever time Keith was now in.

~back to the others~

Keith gulped as he looked at the figure taking shape from behind the dust clouds.

"No way," Keith commented. The dust settled and the figure in front of Keith was revealed to be Tornadus. The large pokemon looked back as if it was annoyed as it crossed its arms. Keith almost leapt back two feet when Tornadus turned around.

"Hohoho! Now that was close, wasn't it?" Tornadus asked with a smile on his face.

"Eh?" Keith, Crystal, Yellow, Garnet, and Kate exclaimed.

"Stop being such a joke," the man who was dressed like a pokemon ranger said as he dusted himself off. He helped Yellow and Crystal up onto their feet before tying up the two knocked out hunters.

"Tornadus?!" The time traveling hunter exclaimed.

"Shouldn't you be looking for the one you should be bonding to?" Garnet asked before glancing at the ranger. "Or is he it?"

"I'd rather not have to bond with him for the rest of my life," the ranger asked.

"At least show some hesitation in your answer," Tornadus commented. "I enhanced your powers, didn't I?"

"Are you really a Top Ranger?" Kate asked and the man nodded. "Why can't I think of your name?"

"The soft spoken prodigy," Tornadus replied. "He doesn't like to draw much attention to himself. Quite a humble boy, he is. Except he can be quite serious, not much fun when he's like this. Where's Ace?" A pikachu leapt from the bushes. Based off of its tail, it was a male one. This pikachu had a scar along the left side of its cheeks and a small chunk was taken out of one its ears. Yellow felt like crying for what the pokemon must have gone through. "There's my favorite mouse!" Ace the pikachu shocked the legendary pokemon before leaping into the ranger's arms.

"What happened to him?" Yellow asked.

"He was abandoned, left to fend for himself in one of the worst towns in the world, poor guy was starving when we met, but he's a fighter who takes care of others," the ranger replied with a slight smile as he rubbed Ace's cheeks. "My name is Justin."

"Hey! I'm still here!" The leftover hunter exclaimed. "Don't ignore me!"

"Oh! I thought you'd run while I gave you the chance!" Tornadus commented cheerfully.

"I'm starting to see why Tornadus and Thundurus don't get all very well," Garnet mumbled.

"Shut it, peanut gallery," Tornadus commented. Tornadus turned to glare at Garnet, but then an explosion happened and a green energy seeped over and caused everyone but Keith and Tornadus to collapse or be on the verge of collapsing.

"The opposite of Sakura's power, crap," Garnet mumbled as he struggled to get up. A girl with black hair that was styled in a gothic emo way sucked on a lollipop as she walked over to them. Her black heeled boots kicked up dust with every step she took.

"Eleanor, I'm here to help take care of the trash, Kain," the girl said as she looked up at the other hunter.

"I don't need your help!" Kain replied.

"Well, Keith, which one do you want?" Tornadus asked.

"How about neither?" Keith asked as he sweat dropped. "Can't I just give someone my energy so they can fight?"

"That's a little too dangerous for you to do right now," Tornadus replied. "I would imagine that you wouldn't want your heritage to be discovered by the wrong members of protectors, which is quite frankly all but about two, scratch that, three. More than that may be too optimistic." Keith gritted his teeth while nodding. "You give them your power, it will be like liking the biggest and brightest beacon signaling something people aren't ready to accept."

"Then what am I supposed to do?" Keith asked. "Hope I can block psychic attacks and hit them with a stick?"

"What...what are you two talking...about?" Kate asked as she struggled to look up at Keith. Her vision fading fast.

"How about a contract?" Tornadus asked.

"You're asking me to bond with you?" Keith asked.

"Not exactly," Tornadus replied. "Like I did with Justin. I will loan you my powers temporarily and enhance your abilities. It'll seem like I'm giving you more power than Justin and the others I've helped, which will provide a distraction to Arceus. We'll help each other. You will have to be careful with using mine and your powers so that the telepathy link never can be accessed, unless you want your secret to be out."

"Don't...don't do it," Justin mumbled as he was in so much pain.

"Don't forget that you have opponents!" Kain exclaimed as he sent out an energy ball. Tornadus easily blocked it.

"What's the catch?" Keith asked. Eleanor made a pointy spike and threw it at Kate who couldn't move. Tornadus made no effort to save her. "Fine! I'll do it!" Tornadus smiled and a weird symbol appeared on Keith's right shoulder blade. Keith wasn't aware what happened next, but he stopped Kate from dying and managed to beat Kain so much that he ran away. Eleanor was added to the vanquished pile and Tornadus helped by adding a sly note to mock Thundurus and Gold onto the tied up pile. The ground shook and a portal opened beneath them. They were dropped off into a new area.

From a distance, a couple cloaked figures stood watching the events unfold. A demon pokemon-like creature emerged from a cave.

"What is that?" Keith asked.

"An ancient evil monster I only know about because I read," Garnet replied as he stood up. "This, this isn't good." Garnet looked horrible. Justin struggled to sit up.

"Justin?" A female voice shouted and his eyes widened. A female around Justin's age came out of the dark woods. She had short brown hair and glasses. She wore a pink sweatshirt and blue jeans. She rushed to Justin and Ace's side and began to emit energy out of her hands, healing them.

"Another Tamer?" Garnet asked.

"Get out of here, Erica," Justin said only to smacked upside the head.

"Big scary monster versus worn out injured people, yeah like that's going to turn out well." Erica replied as she rolled her eyes. She looked at Keith and Garnet before looking at Tornadus. "What did you do now?"

"Aw come on! We just got teleported here! This isn't my fault this time, I swear," Tornadus replied.

"This time?" Garnet and Keith asked as they became suspicious and skeptical of the legendary that had come to their aid.

"Where are we?" Justin asked. "How do we beat that thing?"

"Right by Metagross Mountain," Erica replied as she went to tend to Kate, Crystal, and Yellow. "All I know is that whenever one of those things appear, someone from inside Lucario Kingdom comes to fight it."

"It hasn't attacked yet, so maybe its friendly?" Keith said and Tornadus cracked up laughing and slapped Keith on the back.

"You're funny, I like you," Tornadus replied with a huge grin.

"It's studying us," Garnet said. "It will adapt based on what it observes about us."

"Crap," Keith commented. Kate held her head as she got up. "Morning! Welcome to survival part two!" Kate responded by shooting water at Keith's face. "Thanks for cleaning my face."

"What's with the creepy shadow spider thing?" Kate asked.

"Don't breathe, it's poison," Yellow said weakly as she stood up. Crystal held Erica up. Keith and Justin used Tornadus' power to create a wind barrier. The monster broke through.

~meanwhile~

Kellyn was thrown into a mountain by the muscle head hunter. He slapped Karrie's hand who wiped blood off of her chin. They were all so exhausted at this point that they resorted to just making it a tag team thing so they could rest. The newcomers were a challenge since they had powers different from before and had not been fighting for hours before. Kenny and Gold tried to get the runt while Red studied the kid's movements. Grandma Eliza sat on a rock and watched the battle unfold. She watched and contemplated why it was taking so long. There was something off about how it seemed like they were losing when they should be winning.

"Dimensional grid," Grandma Eliza mumbled and she tapped her walker on the ground. Something around them broke, revealing an energy sapping machine along with an army of grunts. "Thought so." She broke the machine and redirected the energy to her descendants.

Red, you've been studying long enough. Grandma Eliza said. Kellyn, get over here and start taking out lackeys. It's a bit past my nap time. Kellyn looked over while breathing hard. He obeyed, reluctantly. Red leapt outwards and in a blink of an eye, the little boy was defeated and the large man was paralyzed.

"What were you waiting for?!" Kenny and Gold exclaimed. Red shrugged and Karrie slugged the man so he would be knocked out before wiping blood off of her jaw. The blood was coming from her lip that had been cut during the battle.

"They're popping out of the ground like daisies," Karrie commented.

"Save the Mulan references for when you're with Keith," Kellyn replied as he rolled his eyes.

"You want help?" Karrie asked.

"No, a whole army of people is definitely a one person job," Kellyn replied.

"Well, if you say so," Karrie said and she sat on a rock with Gold to watch Kellyn do all the work.

"I was being sarcastic!" Kellyn yelled.

"Aw, here I was hoping you were having one of your serious moments," Karrie complained as she got up.

"I want a nap," Gold said as he got up. "Or be able to sleep for a month."

"Sleep and eat as much as you want, or as much as Crys will let you," Red said as he stretched. "We got to clean up this mess first."

"Next time we help someone move and this happens again, then I'm changing dimensions or hiding from moving requests," Kenny commented. Everyone joined forces to defeat the army.

~end of chapter~

Kenny: Great...we got the short end of the stick...

Lyra: hey, you're not the one stuck fighting one of the most powerful hunters with an old geezer as back up, I don't want to hear it!

Kate: I'm pretty sure our part of the stick isn't that great either

Me: TT_TT don't be so mean

Yellow: Everyone here is eagerly awaiting to read new reviews

Me: I'm the most eager!

Keith: nope, I'm going to beat you

Karrie: not if I get to the mailbox first you won't

Kellyn: guys, are we fighting over who gets to read reviews first?

Kate: shouldn't you be more concerned over if there will be any reviews?

Me: don't ruin our fun, we'll fight over what we want, we're cool friends like that

Keith: =D does that mean I get access to your peanut butter cup stash

Me: I said cool buddies not awesome buddies T.T
