"Are you sure we'll find something useful in my father's house?" asked Aelita with a raised eyebrow as the three approached the heritage. "We've already got everything that seemed important."

"We left everything behind that we thought was useless, and that was our mistake. We did find Franz Hopper's notes thanks to your little Mister Puck!" reminded Jeremy.

"Jeremy's got a point though I don't see why I need to be here," complained Harry.

"Just in case Franz left something that you could find."

"You're really desperate. Just as I thought," commented Aelita.

"No, I just don't want to leave anything to chance when it comes to fighting Xana!"

"Well, where do we start?" asked Aelita as they pushed the door open.

"Try the living room. I'll look in the study."

They separated. Aelita had a flashback as to how the house used to look.

"Aelita, have you found anything yet?" asked Jeremy after a while.

"Yeah…my former life."

"What is it?" asked Jeremy as he walked over.

"Nothing, just a picture of…of me and my father… and Harry..."

"You and your father? That's so cool that you found it! Can I see it?" asked Jeremy before he looked at the photo. "You look so happy…"

"I was. It must have been one of the last pictures taken with Daddy just before…I mean, you know…before…"

"Yeah, we know," said Harry as he flipped though a book. "This is interesting. A few notes on quantum computers. Nothing I've ever seen."

"What's that behind your father?" Jeremy looked closely at the picture. "Bingo! Those formulas. I can read some of them. They're rough programming formulas. We have to blow up this photo!"

"Hang on," said Aelita. "It's one in a billion chance that those codes have something to do with the supercomputer."

"I love challenging the law of probability. Besides, you said that I was desperate so what have we got to lose?"

Harry's and Jeremy's dorm

The two boys enhanced the picture.

"I was right! It is a program!"

Lunch hall

"Odd, you only took two rounds of seconds, are you sick?" asked Yumi as Odd finished eating.

"No, I'm ok."

"Is this about Anais Fiquet by any chance?" asked Ulrich with a raised eyebrow.

"Incredible, I can't get her to notice me whatever I do!"

"You could grow a few inches!" suggested Ulrich.

"You want to try wearing today's lunch?!"

"Oh, here comes Aelita." Aelita sat down. "Is Jeremy still at the Hermitage?"

"He's in his room. He's not hungry."

"I guess that means you struggled to find anything," said Ulrich.

"I don't know. He thinks there's something useful in an old picture we found," explained Aelita.

"A picture! Why didn't I think of that before!" exclaimed Odd. "I just have to send her a picture of my killer smile and she'll come running!"

"I don't think Anais has any interest in you Odd," said Sissi as she sat down. "That's why she's been ignoring you."

"If you ask me, you'd be better off sending a picture of Kiwi, she loves little dogs!" suggested Ulrich.

"How do you know that?" asked Yumi curiously. Aelita laughed.

Harry's and Jeremy's dorm

"Einstein! I need your computer!" Odd barged into the room as Jeremy put a disc in a case.

"What for?"

"To send an important message! I just need to log into my email!"

"Ok, we're finished anyway. I'm going to eat. Tell me when you're done and don't touch anything else."

"No problem! You know me!" Odd inserted the disc.

"I do. That's the problem!" Jeremy closed the door.

"If you don't fall head over heels for me then my name isn't Odd Della Robbia!" Odd opened the picture.

Herb's dorm

Herb walked over to his computer as an email appeared. "A new message from Odd? The idiot."

He opened the attachment and looked at the photo of Aelita and her father. "A picture of Aelita? what a dumb thing to send. Hm…that guy…I'm sure I've seen him before…!"

Harry's and Jeremy's dorm

"Now, that's what I call a job well done. Tonight, I'll be gong out with the prettiest girl at Kadic! By the name of... Herb Pichon! Oh no! How can I have done that?! And I sent the wrong photograph! I'm such a computer lameo! Someone's going to kill me for this!"

Principal's office

"I cannot believe this," exclaimed Delmas as he looked at the photo. "I had no idea that Franz Hopper had family connections with Aelita Stones. And that looks like a very young Harry Stern."

"And who is this uh, Franz Hopper guy?" asked Herb.

"A former teacher here at Kadic who disappeared one day without a trace. Suzanne Hertz took his place. You wouldn't know anything about it," explained Delmas.

"Not really. Otherwise I wouldn't have brought you the picture!"

"Hm…and where did this photo come from?" asked Delmas.

"It was in an email that I just got today from Odd Della Robbia," explained Herb.

"Della Robbia? Isn't he Aelita's cousin? So then he's related to Franz Hopper too, very interesting. I think I had better call the two of them in here for an explanation!"

"Very good idea sir. make them give you a clear explanation."

"Shouldn't you be in class now?"

Herb grumbled as he left.

Later

"I didn't find anything useful in the photo. Just a bunch of codes to reboot the supercomputer," explained Jeremy.

"Though if we ever needed to do that, we know how," added Harry.

"So I guess the picture's not so top secret after all?" asked Odd.

"No, but we'd better keep it a secret. I wouldn't want a picture of Aelita with her father to fall into the wrong hands," said Jeremy. "Especially as it has Harry in it too."

"Uh…y-you mean like Herb's hands?" asked Odd nervously.

"Oh no, Odd, you couldn't have!" moaned Aelita. "If he gives it to Demas, we'll get questioned.

"Yes I could."

"Hey, Stones, Della Robbia and Stern, the principal wants to see you," said Jim as he appeared. "On the double. And while I'm at it, the rest of you can go too."

"What's this about Jim?" asked Sissi.

"You'll find out in a bit Sissi."

"We've got a class right now," pointed out Yumi.

"Get going!"

They sloped off.

Principal's office

"Now young lady. No more fun and games. I've had a whole lot tougher nuts to crack than you! So, last name, first name, occupation!" yelled Jim.

"Well um…Stones, Aelita, um…uh, girl?" asked a confused Aelita.

"Huh, you think I'm an idiot, don't you, huh?!"

"Calm down, Jim, there's no need for the third degree. I've just a few questions to ask, that's all," interrupted Delmas.

"Sorry, sir."

"What intrigues me about this photograph is the presence of Franz Hopper and Aelita Stones, and they seem to be very close too. And so the obvious question is whether your name is really Aelita Stones," said Delmas as he slid the photo across the desk. "And whether or not that is Harry Stern there."

"Yes sir, Aelita Stones is my real name. I'm the daughter of uh…Franz, uh…and Anthea Stones," said Aelita quickly.

"And don't ask me about the child. I don't remember and I honestly don't know if I'm related to this Franz Hopper guy, I'm adopted," said Harry with a shrug. "For all I know, I could be."

"And are you really Canadian?" asked Delmas, staring at Aelita.

"Yes I am."

"And are you really an orphan?"

"I am."

"And is Odd Della Robbia really your cousin?"

"Yes, sir."

"With your permission, mister Delmas, on the photo, Aelita looks about 12 or 13," said Jeremy.

"Yes, and what of it?" asked Delmas.

"Well you said that Franz Hopper taught here at Kadic about nine years ago? So if that's really Aelita in the picture, she would be 22 years old now and not 13, but as you can see, Aelita is 13 years old, and not 22. So that can't be Aelita in the photo! We can thus conclude that Aelita is not related to Franz Hopper, that she is telling the truth about being Canadian, an orphan, and the fact that she really is Odd's cousin," explained Jeremy.

"Yes daddy, why would they lie?" asked Sissi.

"Hm…very interesting. So then, while I'm checking out this identity business, you're all confined to the library for the rest of the day, under Jim's supervision," said a sceptical Delmas.

"Wonderful," muttered Jim.

Lyoko

A tower glowed red.

Principal's office

"I see… So then the Canadian consulate has no record whatsoever of an Aelita Stones in its birth records? Yes, I'll definitely keep you informed. Thank you, uh, goodbye." Delmas placed the phone down. electricity arced from the sockets and hit Delmas. His eye turned to the eye of Xana.

Library

Jim looked aver the top of his magazine at the students. Jeremy's laptop detected the activated tower. He stared at Harry who raised an eyebrow.

"Xana's attacking!"

"Anything wrong Mr Delmas?" asked Jim as Delmas walked in.

"Miss Aelita Stones and Mr Harry Stern, I'd like to have a word with you alone. Jim, make sure no one leaves this library."

the two gulped. Harry quickly create two clones and had one turn into Aelita then hid him and Aelita. Delmas took the clones.

"He's going to have a very nasty surprise waiting for him," Harry muttered as they slipped out the window. Jeremy stared at Delmas' eyes and saw they flicker to the eye of Xana

"Aelita! No!"

"Where do you think you're going?" asked Jim as he blocked the door.

"It's Delmas! He's been Xanafied! They're in danger! They can't go with him!"

"Well, I don't know if I'll go as far as sanctifying him," said Jim. "And it's not Delmas, it's Mr Delmas to you!"

Outside

Harry carried Aelita on is back as he ran to the manhole.

"How are your clones?" asked Aelita.

"Xana doesn't suspect a thing. At least, he doesn't show any signs of suspecting anything," explained Harry as he listened to the clones. "Oh, they've dispelled. I'm going to have to go faster."

He sped up and ran to the factory, still invisible.

Library

"Get back to your seats! No one's going anywhere!" ordered Jim as the five faced him.

"But Jim, Harry and Aelita are in danger. And along with them, the entire world," pointed out Jeremy.

"So you're playing hard ball. If you want to get past, you have to use what I've taught you in your commando lessons," said Jim.

"If you say so. Attack!" They easily pinned Jim to the floor. "Touch down. Someone tie him up!"

"Just think what will happen if the return to the past doesn't work," said Odd as they ran. "Jim will kill us!"

"We've got worse problems. Jim's a piece of cake compared to that."

Lab

"Come on." Harry quickly set up the delayed virtualisation. "Let's go."

They stepped into a scanner.

Lyoko

"Ok, now let's had to the tower," suggested Harry as they landed.

Factory

The group found Delmas in front of the elevator.

"It looks like he had a fight with Sissi," said Odd as they stared at him. Everyone else but him and Sissi separated as they ran to the lab. Delmas sent Odd flying but Sissi managed to climb onto his back and pin his arms.

Lyoko

"Jeremy? are you there?" asked Aelita.

"I'm here. Ulrich and Yumi are on their way."

"Hello, you slimy…ugly…jellyfish…!" said Aelita as she backed away from the Scyphozoa.

"The Scyphozoa?" asked Jeremy.

"Ok, which one of us does it want?" asked Harry. It went for Aelita who ran. "That answers that question."

He sent a shuriken at it.

"Ugh! I forgot how ugly it was!" muttered Ulrich as he saw it.

"I thought you liked seafood!" said Yumi.

"Not the nasty type! Ready to go?" asked Ulrich.

They ran after them only to have some Krabes block their pat. The two easily took care of them.

"I don't like jellyfish, or shellfish!"

"Oi! Xana! Why don't you come after me instead of Aelita!" Harry called. The Scyphozoa kept going after Aelita. "Boy, you are determined."

Factory

Odd backed away from Delmas as he threw Sissi off and into the wall. Odd dodged the attacks.

"Pretty good there Jackie Chan. Let's see how good you are at baseball." Odd picked up a wooden rod. Delmas destroyed it. "How about we talk this over?"

Delmas growled.

"I guess that's a no." Odd kicked him in the stomach. Delmas stood back up and Sissi leapt at him.

"Principals shouldn't attack students, do you hear me?"

Lyoko

"Get away from her!" Harry fired at the monster but it dodged as It wrapped its tentacles around her.

"Aelita! Oh no. It's implanting data into Aelita's brain. Just like when Xana tried to take over you Harry. Get her out of there!"

Harry drew his sword and cut the tentacles.

"Aelita, are you ok?" asked Yumi as the two caught up.

"I'm fine!" The eye of Xana appeared in her eyes.

"Ok, how about a fight with me?" asked Harry as he pointed his sword at her.

Ulrich started to block the shots of several tarantulas. Aelita started to walked towards the edge of the path.

"Aelita! Where's she going? is she crazy?"

"Uh, more like brainwashed," said Harry as he ran in front of her. "She is going to try to jump into the digital sea."

"Try to do her," advised Jeremy.

"How do we do that? Why don't you bring her in?" asked Ulrich.

"I've been trying toi do that. The Scyphozoa must have implanted some kind of inhibitor in her brain as I can't do it. You have to attack her."

Ulrich ran at her but Aelita grabbed one of his swords and forced him to release it.

"Harry, you get to the tower. I'll deal with Aelita here." Harry nodded before running off. Ulrich and Aelita clashed before jumping back and clashing again.

"Things are getting complicated here. How are odd and Sissi doing with Delmas. We could do with a little help."

Jeremy watched Odd back away from Delmas as Sissi swung a pipe at him.

"Ulrich, stop everything. And whatever you do, don't devirtualise Aelita!"

"Don't worry, I wasn't even close! What's up?" asked Ulrich.

"Odd and Sissi are getting walloped by Delmas," explained Jeremy. "We have to get Aelita to deactivate the tower!"

"Yeah, why don't you just ask her?" asked Ulrich. " I'm sure she'd be happy to accommodate! Besides, Harry's on it."

"Oh, I don't know what to tell you, either we lose Aelita or we lose Odd! Harry's been held up by waves of monsters."

Ulrich and Aelita continued to fight.

"If only I could erase everything and start over," muttered Jeremy with his head in his hands. "Why not? I can do that."

He placed the disc into the supercomputer as Yumi defeated one of the tarantulas.

"You guys, get ready. I'm going to reboot the supercomputer."

"Wouldn't that bug the whole system?" asked Yumi from behind a tree.

"It might buy it might be the kind of shock we need to free Aelita."

"Just get on with it," called Harry.

"You sure?" asked Yumi.

"We didn't have much of a choice.l

Aelita knocked Ulrich's sword out of his hand before kicking him.

"Here we go."

Jeremy pressed a button and the screen restarted. Lyoko shook as a light blue energy wave froze everything in its path before another one restored them.

"Looks like it might have worked Jeremy," said Ulrich as Aelita feel to the ground. "But I think should almost out of life points."

"She'll regenerate if she gets to the tower. Harry's clearing the path."

"What happened?" asked Aelita as she pushed herself up.

"Aelita , you can rest later. There's a tower to deactivate. Odd and Sissi are in danger. I'm sending the Overbike."

Said bike appeared. Ulrich helped Aelita over to it as the tarantula devirtualised Yumi.

"Come on princess. This is no time to go to sleep," said Ulrich at he pulled up next to the tower.

"Come on Aelita. Wake up." Harry shook her gently before shooting the tarantula. She limped over to the tower and entered it.

"Ok Jean-Pierre, I give up. Why don't you give me detention on Saturday?" asked Odd. Sissi groaned from her position against the wall. "I'll clean your dishes."

Delmas collapsed.

"You disappoint me Mr Delmas. You should be stronger than that."

The familiar while light covered them.

Earlier

"No, Delmas couldn't possibly know me. My father may have been a teacher here, but I studied at home, so I never attended Kadic," explained Aelita.

"So no chance of finding Aelita Hopper," said Yumi in relief.

"No, none. Especially since my real name isn't Hopper!"

"Huh?" asked Yumi, Odd, Ulrich and Sissi in surprise. Harry smirked.

"Schaeffer is my real name! When we moved to the Hermitage my father wanted to make a brand new start. Franz was his middle name, Hopper's my mother's maiden name," explained Aelita.

"Aelita Schaeffer? That is really incredible! You knew that, Einstein?" asked Odd.

"Yeah, but it makes no difference! As far as everyone's concerned, Aelita's name is now and forever Aelita Stones," said Jeremy as the bell rang.

"Time for class, Lyoko Warriors," said Yumi. Aelita stared at the photo for a second before following.
